Lily's family left Summer Lake when she went away to college. She tried to make her way in their world, but money and status didn't mean much to her. After calling off her engagement and giving up her career, Lily's back at the lake. She's finally happy. She has a life she loves, and she's pursuing her passion running the riding stables. There may not be any other kind of passion in her life, but that's okay, or it would be if it weren't for Nate. Nate's her friend. Nate sleeps around. Nate is most definitely not the guy she should want to get passionate with, but, unfortunately, he is.
Nate's enjoying life in Summer Lake, too. His boss, Pete, may have warned him off the local women, but that's okay, there are plenty of fresh tourists every weekend to keep him busy. He'd rather get busy with Lily, but that's a bad idea. She's his friend. She means more to him than just a quick hookup.
When these two finally do hook up, they'll have to decide if it's worth putting their friendship at risk for a relationship that might prove impossible anyway.
The Summer Lake series follows a group of friends from a small lakeside town in the California hills. They have kept in touch over the years and now, in their early thirties, their lives are drawing them back to Summer Lake and to each other.

Hi, I'm SJ. A coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.
I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.
I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.
These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)
He was thinking too much, and it didn’t suit him. He did all his thinking at work, and he was damned good at it too. He figured his brain needed a rest on his time off, so on the weekends he made most of his decisions from his pants.
You don’t know it yet? … That the guy’s nuts about you. That you’ve got his head turned so far around he’s meeting himself coming back?
You know me. I just like to be realistic. Perfect is great, but perfect doesn’t last. Life is a bumpy ride…
My Review:
Summer Lake has consistently been such a pleasurable, sweet, amusing, and enjoyable series. Each couple has been easy to like, endearingly imperfect, and people I’d like to know and spend more time with. Lily was tiny yet feisty, practical despite her privileged upbringing, and prided herself on being a realist. She kept telling herself that a player was not a safe choice for anything beyond the friend zone, yet there was something about Nate that kept calling to her. Nate’s sudden transformation seemed too good to be true, he was so sweet and patient - I kept holding my breath for fear he was going to blow it. But I never would have guessed that a party boy/hook-up king who had never been in a relationship or spent time with the same woman for more than a weekend, would have the soul of a romantic hidden underneath. Swoon. Ms. McCoy has given us another adorable installment from my favorite resort destination.
I stumbled upon SJ McCoy through one of my kindle recommendations and stumbled upon the Summer Lake series after reading her Remington Ranch series. I've been in love with all the characters in the Summer Lake series but I have to say, Nate and Lily are in my top 3 list of favorite couples in the series. I loved the push and pull between them and of course how their story played out. There were a few surprises for me in regard to how I thought things would go but they were good surprises! Of course, I won't share them here, you'll have to read it yourself! If you haven't had the chance to read any books from the series, I highly suggest that you do. Everyone pops up in all the books so I love that they follow each other in each of the different stories but that doesn't take away from the specific couples story the book is focused on. Thank you SJ for another great book!
I received an ARC in return for an honest review.... First Happy Release Day SJ McCoy!
Thanks for another great entry in the Summer Lake Series. I feel like an honorary member of the summer lake family. Nate the lovable player and sweet strong willed Lily friends who want more from one another but are afraid of being shot down. Is a hook worth the risk of losing there friendship? Super cute story with these two characters dancing around there feelings while the whole summer lake gang watches from the sidelines. Always love the recurrence of other summer Lake residents and the remembrance of why we loved them too. No spoilers but love the center square clock tower moments and the indication of Ben's book is coming finally.....
Each Summer Lake Romance can be read as a standalone book with no cliff hangers but I highly recommend reading them all in the correct order. Each book introduces a new couple.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Every time S J McCoy writes a book about summer lake, she makes you fall in love with the people in the place all over again. This time, the story of Nate and Lily, is no different. Behind every man, is a good woman. Believe it or not, even that playboy guy that you never thought would change his spots can.
As with all of her books for me, I read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. By the end of the book, I wanted to live in my own little town of Summerlake, have friends like Missy, Laura, Holly and Emma and have a boyfriend like Nate.
Lily has appeared in a few of the previous books and definitely needed to be heard. She is a lovely, kind hearted lady who needed a happy ending. For her, could her happy ending be with Nate. Nate is her friend, but also Pete’s employee. Pete has warned him about hooking up with the local ladies, but Lily could be his exception. As with all the Summer Lake series, there is a happy ever after. Plus you get to catch up with all the residents we have come to love over the years. I am going to be gutted when this series is finished.
I had the honor to get an ARC of this book. I must say, I loved it :) This is book #11 in a great series. You could read this as a standalone, but I wouldn't recommend it. Read the other 10 books first, and you feel like you're part of a big friends group. This book is about Lily and Nate, and is as sweet, funny, sexy as the others. I read this series from the beginning, and the anticipation for the next book is always there. You need to know what happens next! Now we wait for Ben... :)
Ride Like You've Never Fallen by SJ McCoy.....Amazing book...This one is my favorite, but I think I say this every time I read one of SJ McCoy's books. I loved the story between Nate and Lily these two are perfect for each other. You need to read this one or any book by this fantastic author. SJ McCoy is one of my favorite authors she never disappoints in her story telling. I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy of this book.
Nate has been unable to be the man everyone knows, picking up girl's for a one night of fun and sex. He no longer feels the pull that it had. Then it comes over him that the most fun he's been having is the time he spends with Lilly. This is another beautifully written book. To friends finding that friendship isn't enough for either of them. But can they become something more?
I have been reading each book in the Summer Lake series over the past week. I have absolutely fell in love with each character and feel like part of the family. I am kind of bummed because I only have one more book left to read and it's Ben's story. I have been looking forward to this one but don't want the books to end!!
I started reading this series with the Summer Lake box set books 1-3)..... After I finished I kept readingthrough the series... Each story is its own standalone HEA, but then they ALL blend together and go SO well together. I've read through them all-(not just this series!), you will do the same!! I CANNOT wait for SJ's next book!!!
Another fantastic book in the Summer Lake series. Lily and Nate were a great team and I enjoyed watching Nate being the one who had to do the chasing. He experienced the other side or a relationship, he wanted the more and clingy. Had a chuckle with Pete trying to keep a secret and swooned at Nate getting the whole gang involved with his proposal to Lily. Bring on the next one!
I really enjoyed this story, as with all the others it is full of twists, turns and surprises. I was pulled in right from the beginning as normal. Well worth the 5 stars and highly recommended. All you romantics out there will enjoy this series I am sure of it.
Another great story and more lives with hiccups in the past but love conquers. Amazing detail and the right back stories. I'm getting kinda sad I'm getting close to the end of the series. It's been an amazing series so far.
I'm really loving this series and the gang at Summer Lake. Each book is like visiting with friends. I loved Nate and Lily's story and look forward to more books in the series.
SJ Does it again. I thoroughly enjoyed the budding romance between the characters. I loved seeing the struggle for the characters to be true to their own feeling and how to express that to the other. Great read! I highly recommend.
Glad that Lily was able to get Nate to settle down. The last few books have made not like Pete so much even though he usually does redeem himself by the end. Him and Nate found the perfect solution so he didn't have to leave Lily.

Ahhh, it feels so good to be back at the lake!!! As a huge fan of all of SJ's books, I am always excited to dive into the latest! Ride Like You've Never Fallen is the perfect mix of sweet and steamy with lots of romance and just enough sexiness to burn up the pages! These two characters have amazing chemistry and as always its awesome to catch back up with the whole gang! Along with Nate and Lily's love story, we get a little hint at whats to come for fan favorite Ben! I CANNOT wait for the next book in the series!!
It doesn't matter if your new to Summer Lake or your returning, this series has so many amazing characters and story lines that you never want to leave. Ride like you've never fallen has turned out to be one of my favourites in the series so far. What more could you ask for than to witness the biggest ladies man/player fall head over heals in love. This is Nate and Lily's story and its certainly worth a read. If you like a happy ending with lots of steamy scenes thrown in then this book is for you. What's best is that you can catch up with the other characters from the Lake and see what their up to! We've also had a peak at Ben, (who's hopefully next in the series), every readers favourite character, or at least mine! Book can be read as a stand alone or as part of a series. Well done SJ on another fantastic read.
