Join Stick Cat in this scrumptious story featuring Tom Watson’s trademark laughs, adventure, and hilarious stick-figure drawings—perfect for fans of the Stick Dog, Big Nate, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Much to Edith’s delight, she and Stick Cat are enjoying a lazy day at his apartment. But not for long. Soon, strange and threatening sounds come from the ceiling. What could it be? An elephant? Santa? It’s a man—a masked man! Stick Cat suspects the man is up to no good, while Edith only hopes the man has snacks. When treasures are stolen from their homes, Stick Cat must come up with a plan to stop the burglar. There’s a thief on the loose . He is big, determined, and sneaky. Will Stick Cat convince a hungry Edith to help him catch the thief?
Tom is the author and draws the original sketches for all the Stick Dog stories. He lives in Chicago with his wife, daughter and son. They also have a dog named Shadow. Tom did not want to name the dog Shadow. He wanted to name him ‘Put Your Shirt On.’ It’s a long story. Sometimes when Tom is visiting schools, he shares the story.
Tom’s first jobs out of college were in politics. He worked for U.S. Senator John Glenn and as the Chief Speechwriter for the Governor of Ohio. He has also worked in marketing and advertising. He likes writing books for kids a lot more than writing speeches and other things for grown-ups. He thinks kids are way smarter than grown-ups.
Stick Cat and his neighbor Edith are dozing when they hear a weird noise in the ceiling. Then a strange man pops out of the vent and starts grabbing things. Edith thinks he's Tuna Todd come to reward good kitties since he is putting out tun for them. Stick Cat quickly realizes Tuna Todd is actually a thief and must be stopped. But what can 2 kitties do against a big, human intruder?
A humorously imagined story of how two cats might be able to stop an intruder. Edith is really stuck in her own world and refuses to see what is really going on and she drove me a little crazy. Stick Cat is a very understanding friend, though, and works around her idiosyncrasies. There's a cute little romantic conclusion to the story that promises more adventures for the two cats. I like the large font and illustrations scattered throughout. This series would be a great pick for kids with visual acuity issues or dyslexia as the lines are well spaced too. Hand this to reluctant readers, animal lovers, and humor fans.
Notes on content: No language issues or sexual content. The bad guy threatens the cats, but just some tail tugging and nothing further.
My nine-year-old and I have been reading through this book and enjoying every page! The characters in this book are creative and humorous. While I like Stick Cat, I think his friend from the neighboring apartment, Edith, is hilarious. Her thought processes are exactly what I would attribute to a pretty, yet stuck up cat. In this book, Stick Cat and Edith are visited by a thief who Edith initially thinks is wonderful because he brings tuna. However, when the thief gets his hands on some of Edith's prized possessions, everything changes! Together, Stick Cat, Edith and "Tuna Todd" (the thief) have some amazingly crazy adventures.
Stick cat, a book about two cats and a thief who tries to rob them in their home. The book is really about a boy and a girl who wants to go to the sweetheart dance together, but the girl wants the boy to write her another stick cat book, comic and he does. You would have to like cats to read this book. IN MY OPINION I THINK THAT THE BOOK IS TERRIBLE!!!! So, I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody, I just think the author didn’t make it for anybody besides 3rd graders and under. So unfortunately I did not FINISH this BOOK because I think it was and is TERRIBLE for 4th graders and up.
I don’t know why but every book I read is really good that includes Stick Cat! I’m really into humorous books and just loves a good book I’d say 8-12 year olds would enjoy! If I compared Stick Cat to Dog Man I would say they’re both my favorite books! They’re different because one is about a cat and the other is about a dog. If you like books like Dog Man but want a challenge this book is for you! It challenges you with more words plus the words may be harder to read but it’s worth taking the time.
Edith is seriously the worst. I like books with good characters, but Edith is more or less a villain in this series. She is completely self-absorbed and unintelligent, and she talks way too much for someone who is extremely self-absorbed and unintelligent. There is a thief, and Stick Cat knows he is bad because he is stalking things, and Edith couldn't care less if he steals Tiffany's things because she made hollandaise sauce with milk instead of cream. Ugh.
Stick Cat and his neighbor Edith are enjoying a lazy day, when they hear noises coming from the ceiling. They soon discover that the noises are coming from a human, who Edith thinks is a gift bearing visitor, but Stick Cat thinks the man is up to no good. Zany over the top humor as Stick Cat tries to convince his self-centered friend to what is actually happening around her.
This book is probley better then stick dog. stick dog is weird the dogs are even named poo poo and mutt. so my faverite chapter is chapter 1. Its sweet heart dance, i acully like that chapter. Well it shows all the good parts. My least faverite is chapter 3, it is boring you know i say that in every book.
These are cute books for grade school kids. My 9 yr old son enjoys Edith's superficial comments and Stick Cat's dry humor. They are written so the kids can laugh and get a good story amd not get bored in the small details.
This is our first stick cat book. I think I would read another if my son wanted. He wanted to read it together at night during our regular reading time before bed. I love the dynamic between Edith and Stick Cat! Edith is a hoot! And Stick Cat deals with her marvelously!
I have read books of many types and this book might be the most interesting and adventurous I found! I’ve read the first book and this book but I really want the second one! I also have not read stick dog yet so it is my mission to do so.
