Russell Grant is a British astrologer, author, and television personality known for his long-standing media presence and popularization of astrology in the UK. He rose to prominence in the early 1980s as the resident astrologer on Breakfast Time on BBC and later on TV-am’s Good Morning Britain. His engaging style and accessible horoscopes helped make astrology a household topic. Over the years, he has written numerous books on astrology, provided syndicated newspaper columns, and launched astrology-related services, including premium-rate phone lines and even a “Pet Psychic” service. Grant’s early career was in acting, with appearances in productions like Tom Brown’s Schooldays. He also worked as a Butlin’s Redcoat and co-hosted several shows such as People Today and Star Choice. He later created and starred in Russell Grant’s Postcards, a travel series showcasing British heritage, produced by his own company. In 1989, he founded the Association of British Counties and authored The Real Counties of Britain, promoting traditional county identities. He has appeared on multiple reality TV programs, including Celebrity Fit Club, Strictly Come Dancing (2011), and Celebrity MasterChef (2014). In 2012, he starred as the Wizard in The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium. His guest appearances span a wide range of British entertainment shows. Personally, Grant has been open about his battles with depression and weight struggles, particularly after losing his grandmothers to Alzheimer’s disease. He is a long-time supporter of non-league football and helped design the badge for Brentford F.C. He currently lives in Wales with his partner and manager of 50 years, Doug Beaumont. In 2023, Grant revealed he had undergone surgery for brain cancer in late 2022 and was in recovery. His enduring career reflects both his resilience and his ability to evolve across decades of British popular culture.
If this book was not so big and heavy, I would carry it with me EVERYWHERE. Russell Grant is brilliant to say the least - writing at least 1,000 words for each individual birthdate and his astrological predictions. It is hard to encounter such in-depth analyses when it comes to astrology -- typically everything is limited to the twelve zodiac signs -- but Grant takes it so much farther making it very personal. Along with his single-date analysis, he provides almost twenty other specific birth dates that you are compatible with, whether it be your soulmate, love and relationships, or friendships. This should be every astrology lover's Bible.
I thought this book was pretty accurate, In the introduction it tells you that it is interpreted in different ways and that different characteristics can be seen in different lenses. I looked up the birthdays of my immediate family and it was like reading about their life in a book. I do recommend this book, even if you are not into astrology it is a fun book to read.
A fun read especially when someone has a new baby or you want to give a unique gift to someone on their birthday. The people I’ve shared it with have found it to be very true. I think it’s pretty accurate but not as insightful as Linda Goodman’s lovesigns.
