Weisheit: Die ureigene Mitte finden

Rate this book
Besser wäre es herauszufinden, was wirklich fehlt!

When I list my all-time favorite books, I always list Christiane Northrup's Mother-Daughter Wisdom: Understanding the Crucial Link Between Mothers, Daughters, and Health as one of the books that I am taking on that hypothetical deserted island. In her latest book, Northrup sits down to record all that she has ever wanted to say, but fear of how she would be perceived in the medical community led her to stay silent for a long time. The disclaimer here is that Making Life Easy: A Simple Guide to a Divinely Inspired Life is more Northrup's spiritual journey than the old tried and true Western medicine model. I've always felt that Northrup's books were largely targeted towards women, but I think there are hidden treasures within the book that also speak to men. While I cannot say that I agreed 100% with everything( but then again when do we as readers ever do that?) that was stated in the twelve chapters, I felt some very hard truths reach my soul and make me reflect on my thoughts and how they affect my health.

Some of the gems I took away from the book...
1. "It is estimated that we think about 60,000 thoughts per day. Of these, 80 percent are negative and habitual... Thinking differently from your tribe( socio-economic/ethnic/religious/cultural) is considered a betrayal. Tribes punish what they consider betrayal with shame and abandonment. Because shame and abandonment are painful, most people don't want to risk changing their habitual thoughts, lest they no longer fit in."

2. " We are often made to feel guilty when we don't have the time or energy to volunteer or give our time and attention to a" worthy" cause. But our giving needs to include us. We need to give ourselves the resources to feel whole and replenished. Otherwise the well will eventually run dry. And we'll end up feeling resentment. And perhaps become bitter. "

3. Learn to receive compliments graciously, don't try to devalue or downplay what people have said. Say "Thank you."

4. Learn the power of faith. Not necessarily a deity connected to an organized religion, but trust in the universe.

5. "Finding a group of people who truly speak to your Soul only happens when you embrace the truth of who you really are. Begin right where you are. No matter where that is."

Most importantly, Northrup offers this piece of advice- don't take her word for it, seek the truth for yourself. Simply, don't just rely on one book, be curious and like Northrup, take that journey!

Thanks to Netgalley and Hay House for this ARC. My quotes were taken from it and may have changed since publication.

I may not always agree or believe as the author does but I find her optimism and her ideas on the importance of faith and spirituality on the well being of our mind and bodies to be excellent. This is a very interesting read and I think most people could benefit from reading this.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC.

I started out enjoying this book but the last few chapters really took an odd turn. The last chapter about the importance of community contains some horribly disturbing descriptions of medical studies involving loneliness and lab animals. I won't recommend this book for that reason.

If you are exploring new spiritual paths and are open to new ideas and thoughts, then you will enjoy this book and find it practical. It is for the open-minded only! It's written in a simple manner but packed with information. I had checked it out from the library, but feel at some point I need to own it & highlight passages, make notes, etc.
Since she is a trained, experienced medical doctor, she does present much of her advice from that standpoint which I found somewhat reassuring. I will say that the chapter about releasing one's vital life force was a bit more than I was expecting. I don't shy away from sexual content but I was feeling a quite prudish while reading this!
Like I said, the book is packed with information and resources, the reader can use what she/he needs.

Probably a 4.5 for me, but leaning towards 5 stars.

Ever since I read The Wisdom of Menopause by this author, I have been hooked on her books.

It starts a bit froo froo for me, but then covers a whole bunch of good stuff, that should help me age more gracefully... ha! as if gracefully is really in my vernacular!

Anyway, I recommend this one. I have 141 highlights - a lot of which are other books to read, and things to look up / follow up on. I love that kind of book; one that pushes me forward.

I cherished this goddess healer’s book! Christine Northrop is an M.D. whose passion is helping women and men heal pre-disease and illness. She gives sensible recommendations for patterns and behaviors to cure you of your life traumas and negative patterns. I’ll likely put several more of her books on my reading list, and have one at a time on my “currently reading” list.

Too many quasi-religious opinions/beliefs for my taste. It just seems all too much superstitious. This was the main obstacle for not reading the entire book...

A book I have had for many years and still reference is Dr. Christiane Northrup's groundbreaking Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom. Now, her latest book, Making Life Easy will join it on my "indispensable book" shelf.

In this book, Dr. Northrup shares all the insight she has gained in her 60-something years to help readers find peace and well-being not only in body, but also mind and Spirit. And also how they are inextricably connected in creating your own personal heaven in your life.

She writes how as an OB-GYN trying to make a difference in her practice, honoring the wisdom of women's bodies, she faced roadblocks until she connected with Divine inspiration.

Dr. Northrup describes how to get in touch with the Divine, establishing a relationship with the nonphysical aspect of yourself. One of the first things she explains is how to understand the obstacle of the ego and love it away. She shares healing processes such as Past-Life Regression, Divine Love Petitions, How to Work with and Interpret your Dreams, Simple Meditations, and Consciously Receiving From Nature.

So, what is the purpose of all these processes? To have more faith in God and the Divine than we do in our own ego, which uses fear to protect oneself from feeling pain, loss and sorrow.

How often do we try to make sense of things that go wrong in our lives? She writes:

"Faith that things happen for a reason is really the only way through.... When you practice true surrender and offer everything to the Divine - over and over and over - you will eventually discover true spaciousness and peace opening up before you and within you. You will have transformed your fear into faith."

Once Dr. Northrup shares her insight into your Soul, she provides advice on how to best take care of your body, from stretching and releasing your fascia, regular exercise, practicing balance, eating well, and enhancing food with love.

One of the most interesting sections of the book, for me, was the chapter on Tending Your Vital Life Force... that Sacral Chakra creative surge that comes through our bodies, minds and Spirits as physical pleasure, desire, excitement, sexuality, curiosity, art, music, and reproduction of the species. Dr. Northrup explains the deep connection between sexuality and spirituality and shares how to Turn Yourself On to Life, Pursue Pleasure Deliberately, Engage in Mindful Sexual Expression, and Owning and Operating Your Erotic Anatomy.

Making Life Easy ends with a chapter on the Power of Community, and how to find your "tribe," the people with whom you can have a real connection, acceptance and intimacy.

This book is true-you need God in everything, but she is doing the readers' souls a disservice and disrespecting God by suggesting there is any other way to Him except thru Jesus. I was lost for most of my life, endlessly searching thru Buddhism, paganism and at one point lost all hope and was an atheist, but God has opened my eyes to the truth. "Spirituality" is the enemy's way to give you just enough "good" and make you feel like you are on the right track, but never actually giving you the key to His Kingdom. It's the enemy's greatest trick -you live your whole life as a "good person" but the devil wins your soul anyway because you never knew Jesus. Please read the Bible. You shouldn't give thanks to the universe, rock or a tree - you give thanks to the creator of the universe, rock and tree. And the only reason we get to have the beautiful gift of direct communion with the creator of the universe is because Jesus died to give it to us! I suspect the author knows this, but has muddied it down to keep her book more appealing to "the masses." Please read the Bible, then feel free to apply the principles in this book to live focused on God's will for your life.

A Totally Comprehensive Guide Addressing Mind, Body, and Spirit.

A totally comprehensive guide addressing mind, body, and spirit together to optimize total health, well-being, and a joyful life. This is a culmination of Dr. Northrup rich lifelong experience and expertise in the area of women’s health.

It is readable and full of easy to employ tips and suggestions to make life better. She even offers a nice long list of linkable resources at the end. I love that you can start as full on or as slow as you would like to. She offers a lot of information but it never felt overwhelming.

This guide is one to own and a great reinforce of the many lessons available in her other books and on her website: https://www.drnorthrup.com/.

BRB Rating: Own It.

I’m in love with Christiane Northrup.
I grew up with my mom reading her books and never understood why she’d read the same book over and over again until the pages were worn and ragged (Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom) and now I’m an adult with children of my own listening to this audible multiple times while I do the dishes.
I apply so many of these things to my life and its helped me breathe easier in so many ways.

Christine Northup has been on my radar for years so I was excited to finally read something of hers. This book however was just awful. It's basically "I read some good bookson spirituality and well-being and here's a bland diluted summary of my key take-aways"

Many times I even wondered if she'd actually written this because it didn't read like the work of an educated, knowledgeable woman, it reads like a well read 15 year old looking for validation.

I like books that present new ideas, or present old ideas in new ways and this book does both. Opened my eyes to some new truths - about myself, my body, and my mind - and inspired me to be more aware and mindful in my daily life. (I realize this review is vague, but I don't want to give anything away.) Highly recommend.

Christiane Northrup holds many beliefs about angels and afterlife that I do not share, but I still found this book extremely helpful. She is well read in the areas of physical and spiritual health and synopsizes and synthesizes the current literature.

I've been reading a lot of spiritual books lately and this is a recap of a lot of that stuff... But I don't think I would've really benefited as much if this were the first book I'd read. I will say that I learned about Saturn Return for the first time (fascinating!) and appreciate her candor.

Another fun and sometimes insightful read by Christiane Northrup. I even brought a question to my doctor about a medical issue that was mentioned in her book. As a result, we're all on the right track.
Thanks for your medical and life advice for the mature women out there.
