Osborne's narration is low-key and well-paced. A great way to introduce children who are reluctant readers or can't yet read to this highly entertaining book series and to reading in general.--Chicago Parent "Osborne's soothing, beautifully articulated voice and knack for characterization are reliably pleasing.--AudioFile
Mary Pope Osborne is an American author of children's books and audiobook narrator. She is best known as the author of the Magic Tree House series, which as of 2017 sold more than 134 million copies worldwide. Both the series and Osborne have won awards, including for Osborne's charitable efforts at promoting children's literacy. One of four children, Osborne moved around in her childhood before attending the University of North Carolina. Following college, Osborne traveled before moving to New York City. She somewhat spontaneously began to write, and her first book was published in 1982. She went on to write a variety of other children's and young adult books before starting the Magic Tree House series in 1992. Osborne's sister Natalie Pope Boyce has written several compendium books to the Magic Tree House series, sometimes with Osborne's husband Will Osborne.
This review represents books five through eight . I like the return to historical fiction instead of fantasy. these books represent missions to Venice, Paris, Baghdad, and New York City . I especially liked Paris and meeting the great inventors of the 1800 . Still a little bit too much fantasy for my blood.
A new adventure begins, this time with Merlin. Camelot is in need to be saved, or the legend will die forever. Jack and Annie are able to help save the kingdom and bring back the joy in time for christmas. Great read.
I read the second one in this series, The Haunted Castle on Hallows Eve. It’s about two children that had to save the kings castle from the Raven King. They had to turn into ravens to sneak past the guard that was keeping the diamond that would save the castle. They got it, but with some problems. I would recommend this book to someone who wants a quick, adventurous read.
