When we finally unravel the mystery of dark matter, will it save our world? Or destroy it?
Take an epic journey to a not-so-distant future, controlled by a handful of the über-elite. Where wealth, science, and the human spirit get one last chance to determine humanity’s ultimate destiny.

Despite the tragic events at Hanssen Scientific, Monique Durand and her newfound companions continue their search for the source of her compelling visions. Are they somehow linked to the secrets of dark matter, as Professor Hanssen is so desperate to believe? Or does the truth reach even deeper–into our Universe’s past, and our planet’s ultimate future? To find out, they’ll need to outwit the Consortium, a secretive group of trillionaires who now have what they need to achieve their own, long-awaited end-game. Together, our unlikely heroes may finally have what it takes to break the Consortium’s stranglehold. Assuming they don’t strangle each other first.

The adventure continues in book two of the award-winning Dark Matters trilogy.

ABOUT THE BOOK
Dark Matters is a thought-provoking technothriller, set in a world fully polarized by the rift between the haves and the have-nots. It is a world of extraordinary new technologies–but also one of dwindling natural resources, and an ever-swelling human population. Dark Matters offers a unique, entertaining, and (mostly) fictional perspective on the topics of income inequality, the responsibilities of wealth, and our ultimate role in the universe. Dark Matters: Betrayal is the second book in the Dark Matters trilogy.

Argggggg

Five stars for an original story. One star for how the characters are being developed. Thus, the three star average. Humans are very emotional beings, but not this group. If the author feels the feelings of his creations, he is not successfully getting those feelings onto the pages. The result is lifeless, ice cold robots. Brutal, but true. The absolute only emotion you see is anger from Monique, Jonas, and Victoria. The only exception was the love I felt radiating off of both Farhad and his wife Ravan. I also felt all of their fear, anxiety, and frustration as their story unfolded. They had dimension, were way warmer, easier to believe and thus root for. In the ice cold, one dimensional group are the Chairman, Pax, Rudy, Victoria, Jonas, Tabia, the Twins, the Executive Committee, and spoiler alert, the beings Monique meets at the end of book two. So, unless this author emails me (I'm on his list, Karen B) and tells me he will do better in book three, I'm giving up on him now.

Decent read. In very few places I found the story to be a bit lagging, but otherwise good. This installment continues the story from where the author left off in the first book. The conclusion is still not in this book, for that is supposed to be in the next book in the series, which would be the final one.

The book is well-written, even though I found the characters of the teens - Ana and Pierre to be unnecessary. They were not much important in the first installment as well. Don't know whether they will save everyone's day in the finale, but until now I couldn't help find myself having any attachment to their roles. Pax is an interesting character and I wouldn't wonder if the author writes a spin-off series just for him.

So, there is nothing much to say since the story is yet to conclude in the next book, but still I liked the pacing of the first one more.

Altogether, it is a decent work.

Very cool ideas

Good science here. The explanation of each development may seem a little long, but stick with them and think them through. The concepts are interesting and even plausible. The interactions of the characters keeps the story moving along pretty well too. All in all it is a good story. Now having to wait a few days until the last of the trilogy is published. I'm really looking forward to it.

Thought provoking book 2

Tangling with the consortium power and a drive to find the source of the visions, the story moves closer to a understanding of the universes depth around them. Can't wait for book 3

Good book

This was better than the first book. The ending did not seem as abrupt. I don't like that I have to write a review in order to get out of the book

I was not excited about the book. The action appealed to other readers but none of the elements created a sense of real urgency or a connection to any of the characters. Some world building would be a start, in making a compelling novel.

These bland unremarkable books are what makes YouTube a valuable resource. It hosts specialty sites, history tubers, book tubers, science e communicators, philosophy and religion tubes, cultural studies and art criticism tubes even science fiction tubes. These groupings and others intersect and all leave links for further reading.

These writers do not avail themselves of the information but I find entertainment and information that I can use in my own book. A sample of interesting sites are

UA Courage, Lady of the Library, Tom Nicholas, Books and LaLa, Real Engineering, Novara Media, Philosophy Tube, The Armchair Historian, The Irish Reader, lady Knight the brave, Serena Skybourne, Elliot Brooks, Sabine Hossenfelder, Natasha's Adventures, Narrowboat Pirate, Noah Sampson, Between the Wars, Ask a Mortician, Zoe Bee, Sarah Z, Double Down News, Alize, Sci Trek, Swell Entertainment, The Juice Media, A Clockwork Reader, A Cup of Nicole, Cari Can Read, Munecat, Camper Vibe, What Vivi did next, With Olivia, Sufficiently Advanced Lena, Practical Engineering, Tara Mooknee, Katie Colson, Atun Shei, Noelle Gallagher, Alayna Joy, Rebecca Watson, Jake Tran, Alice Cappelle, Dr Ben Miller, IzzzYzzz, Tibees, Therapy in a Nutshell, Northern Narrowboaters, Autumn's Boutique, AI Universe, Spacedock, Quinn's Ideas, Lilly's expat life, Make Better Media, Renegade Cut, Steve Shives, Amber Ruffin Show, Alexa Donne, Ana Psychology, Merphy Napier, Jack in the Books, Hello Future Me, Writing with Jenna Moreci, I'm Rosa, Juliette Wade, Joe Scott, A Life of Lit, Melodie Rose, The Gravel Institute, Second Thought, Ship Happens, Cruising Alba, Jean Bookish Thoughts, Bailey in Bookland, GK Reads, Books with Brittany, Bookslike Whoa and France 24 News.

The option I chose as an alternative to science fiction novels of poor quality is the streaming service. Netflix has award winning properties such as, Orphan Black, Russian Doll and popular shows Dark, The Rain, Katla, Humans, Better than Us, The Map of Tiny Perfect Things and Beautiful Creatures. All the services have science fiction offerings. They resolve the bad novel issue for me.

Claes Rees, Jr and cgr710 (his mail order bride or some such) really do not like socialists and any human value counts as socialistic. They have said so a number of times on my reviews. I am actually a communist which is much better. I was a communist activist when I was younger and thanks to these two members and others, I discovered that I still am. As for my feelings towards the rest of Goodreads, see my review of a fifth rate libertarian take on a Heinlein classic, "Powers of the Earth", the comments with the grossest deleted, the other reviews. Whether your opinion of both Amazon and Goodreads has changed, I think that it explains my antipathy towards both. American members who have no issue with their thugs, do not overly impress me.

To all the patriotic americans, who admire Putin. GLORY TO UKRAINE !

I am glad that is behind me. I want for anyone who has read this far to have a delicious morning, an afternoon adventure, an evening of relaxation and and a pleasant night. May Hope hold you close in all days.

After finishing the first book in the Dark Matters trilogy I couldn't wait for the second to be published. My one big complaint about the first book was how abruptly it ended. The author did not disappoint with book two, diving right back into the action. The story took an unexpected but welcome detour to the Middle East and I must say the author took his writing to a whole new level, painting a vibrant picture of a new romantic subplot driven by a terrible "natural" disaster. I noticed some people complained in comments about the pace in first book. Well you better buckle your seatbelt because Betrayal not only launches into outer space but vaults you through pulse quickening action and suspense. I also enjoyed the deepening character development as we get to know our heroes and villains so much better. The ending was less abrupt bringing some closure but most definitely left key questions open to your imagination and once again I personally cannot wait for book three!

This was a compelling read. Some questions from book 1 answered, and some new questions and people introduced, although this book can stand alone for those who have not read the first book. The depictions of events and locations were very immersive. The story moves at a great pace, too - looking forward to the third book.

Another book by Michael Dow that I couldn't put down. This one is even better than the first, if that is possible. Engaging and detailed descriptions of natural events and people. One step further into the conundrum of explaining dark matter. Can't wait to see if Book III will solve the problem.

Where's the 3rd book? I need to read it -- now!

I am thoroughly enjoying this techno-thriller sci-fi series. I was compelled to keep reading to see how the storylines came together. I don't love all the supposedly good characters, but I do love reading about them.

The story continues with Monique, Rudy, and Jason. Some of the characters have gone by the wayside, but some new characters in the Middle East are wonderfully written. Those characters are more complete right from the start of their arc. My previous irritation with Rudy has waned, and I enjoyed the twisting trail of his story. His character is more fleshed out now which serves the storyline well.

I never would have guessed where this story was going. Can't say anything more without spoilers!

I am anxious for the third book to come out!
