Roman's Having Sex Again

Rate this book
"My life is shite, and more boring than an iced finger – it’s basically bread for goodness sake; where’s the cream? To top it all off my boss, Roman ‘The Ego’ Hepburn, hates me."

Summer James has suffered a devastating change to her life, one that could shape her future and to make matters worse she now has a new boss. Not such a major problem, some would think, but that boss is Roman Hepburn. He's rude, grouchy and impatient and has a damn fine ass!

Very quickly her feelings for the dark, brooding, Roman change and it soon becomes evident that some highly charged sexual tension has been bubbling under the surface, and Roman makes it clear that he intends to make Summer his.

Will Roman succeed in getting the girl, and if he does will he succeed in keeping the girl? Or will circumstances and Roman's hilariously strange, but loveable family, send Summer tottering to the hills on her six inch heels?

This is a sexy, fun romance with some laugh out loud moments. Full of quirky characters, broody men and feisty women you won't be disappointed.

I live in Cheshire with my husband, two dogs and mum in law and write romantic humour and contemporary romance. My first two books, Guess Who I Pulled Last Night? and No Bra Required both stayed at number 1 on the Amazon Humour list for 3 & 4 weeks respectively. My ambitions of becoming a writer started at the age of 10 when I started writing poetry at school, and was given the honour of reading one out to the rest of my year group (an horrific experience that I will never forget). Thankfully I have a wide variety of strange and wonderful people in my life, otherwise I'd be stuck on what to write about! I am currently talking to family and friends, finding out their innermost secrets in readiness for my next book.

My books are romances that come with a little more than vanilla sexy times, sometimes a few tears, lots of hot men and feisty women, but ultimately they'll make you smile.

Well wasn't this a delightful little jaunt?! I just love when I take a chance on an author that is new to me and it totally pays off. This story of Roman and Summer was charming, sweet, funny, and indubitably entertaining.

Roman was an ex-boxer-turned-contractor who ended up buying the company that Summer worked for. She was now his PA and something started to brew at the office and it wasn't just the coffee. Despite their rather acrimonious beginning (there's a reason Summer dubbed Roman "Mr. Grumpy), they fell rather easily into what turned out to be a beautiful relationship.

Roman had some demons he was still fighting and his past ended up stirring a bit of drama, but besides all of that, this story would be classified as a light read. It was well-written and had a clear direction for its plot. There were many wonderful characters to get to know, especially Roman's parents (they were a hoot!), and I wonder if any of them will get a story of their very own.

SUPER surprised by this book. It was AWESOME!!

I took a while to get into it as i didn't quite get why the new boss, Roman was being such a bitch to his PA, Summer but I loved their interaction and banter so much i kept going and boy, was i glad.
This little nugget here is an awesome office romance with a side of twist and drama. Totally unexpected as i was expecting some rom-com however this was far from it. It has some heartbreaking themes but ultimately this couple had the best relationship. And Roman's family! Hands down the best parents i've read in a while. I LOVED those mad hatters.

Highly recommended!

Roman’s Having Sex Again is one of those books where my feelings towards the characters and story managed to do a complete turnaround as I worked my way through the story. I started off unsure, yet by the end of the book I realised I’d had a wonderful time.

The story starts with our main characters being introduced for the first time in a work meeting, before we’re quickly thrown into seeing how much of an a-hole our leading male is. I couldn’t help it: I hated him. It isn’t simply a case of me disliking love interests who act in such a way – I just hate rude people in general. His behaviour had me wanting to slap him, the things he was saying leaving me to believe I would murder him if I knew him. Due to this, I wanted nothing more than to shake some sense into our leading lady. Such behaviour is not okay, no matter how nice the guy’s behind happens to be.

Somehow, and I don’t know how, I found myself no longer caring about this massive issue. I was pulled into the story, and was able to overlook how much Roman’s behaviour annoyed me. Oh, there were still certain times where I would have punched him had I been in Summer’s position – but once I was pulled into the story I found I couldn’t put it down. It quickly became a one sitting read, leaving me ignoring my daily duties so that I could see how everything played out.

Truthfully, the story isn’t anything overly special. There are no billionaires. There’s no kidnapping situation. There’s no supernatural creature in the shadows. It doesn’t have that ‘out there’ quality that a lot of romance novels seem to have these days – and this is what allowed me to love this story so much. It was just your everyday romance. They’re two normal people, two very flawed people, who manage to find happiness together. Their story isn’t perfect, mistakes are made, but they work it all out and allow us to see that even the most everyday of people are able to find that special something should they be willing to work for it.

Honestly, it was such a change from my usual romance reads. There was plenty to keep me entertained, and it wasn’t until I finished that I realised that I hadn’t once looked for that ‘out there’ aspect that usually leaves me pulled into romance stories. It was so refreshing so see something so mundane become such a gripping read.

Not that this story is boring – far from it. There is plenty to keep you entertained.

As with any good romance read, there is plenty of drama. Drama between the lovers; drama between the friends; drama with enemies; drama with family. It was a bit of a mini soap opera, but that’s just life for you. It wasn’t crazy over the top; rather, it was believable. The events that took place were easy enough to imagine, things you could easily connect to – thus allowing you to drift into another world without leaving your own world too far behind. It was just the right amount of drama, just the right sort of drama.

Moreover, we’re given a truly amusing range of characters. As I’ve previously stated, I was unsure at the start of the story. I warmed up to our characters throughout, though, as I got to know them better. But what I really loved were our side characters. They were all so interesting. Not to mention, Roman’s family really made the story come alive. Honestly, I cannot remember laughing so hard at a book in a long time. I’m not going to say too much because of spoilers – however, his parents were the wonderful kind of eccentric that leaves you wanting more of them. Whilst I enjoyed all of the characters, Roman’s parents were certainly the highlight of the book.

So yeah, in short I came to enjoy this one a lot.

I was pulled in and unable put the book down; I was laughing out loud; I was hoping things would play out for the best.

It may not be my favourite romance read of all time, but it’s certainly one I’ll be thinking about for a while.

Roman's Having Sex Again is a funny romance with a hint of emotions and some industrial espionage.

This was the first Nikki Ashton's work I've read and I've really liked it.
The plot was developped in such a good way it kept my interest throughout the whole book, the characters are likable, relatable, flawed and unique and their interactions made the reading an enjoyable experience.

I didn't like Roman, our hero,at the beginning because he was too bossy with Summer, his employee, but he redeemed himself page after page and he conquered not only our heroine's heart but mine too.

Great mix of humour and a romance brimming with sexual tension, in addition to a storyline with far more serious undertones.

As the first book I have read by this author, I really had no idea what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I enjoyed this book. The interactions between Roman and Summer were fabulous right from their first meeting. It was clear there was a spark of attraction between them, but then Roman turned into a nightmare boss, and Summer had to fight her growing feelings for him.

The story is written in an easy to read style, and the author has come up with some fantastic characters. My favourite characters just for the humour involved with them are Roman's parents. The first time they meet Summer will definitely raise a laugh or two, and had me smiling, while also cringing in embarrassment for Roman.

In fact Roman's mother is the one that comes out with the memorable line, in celebration, that has become the title of the book. To give you an idea her name is Twinkle, and she named her children after things to do with Audrey Hepburn, which when you discover certain facts becomes hilarious.

There are some more serious topics in the story too, including Summer's health worries, and the secret that makes Roman the way he is. I won't go into any more detail, but it is always good to see a bit of depth in a romance novel, and this definitely gives it a slightly grittier edge.

Overall though Roman's Having Sex Again is a relatively light hearted and easy to read romantic comedy, with plenty of sex, some great sibling dynamics, a bad guy, a few secrets and generally all around good feel to it.

Thank you so much to Laura Barnard for this copy of the book which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

“I may have broken your fandango sweetheart, but I think you’ve just broken the wall around my heart.”

OMG, if ever a book deserved more than 5 stars it’s this cracker. Outstanding, laugh out loud, panty melting goodness all wrapped up in one heartfelt package!

All my book friends know that I have been desperate – repeat, desperate – to get my hands on this book for what feels like F.O.R.E.V.E.R. lol. I mean, come on!! You’ve seen the cover *winks* and read the blurb for yourself.

When you can personally connect with a MC, you know that author has got you on their hook and this was the case for me with Summer as I’ve been there. Both Roman and Summer are battling their own personal demons but fate has thrown them into each other’s path for a reason. The verbal sparring between the two is hilarious but filled with off the charts sexual tension. This chemistry can only have one outcome….cue using my kindle as a fan – phwoar!

I snorted, belly laughed, had the odd mild rant and even shed the odd tear (of both the happy and sad variety) whilst reading this book. Okay, correction, – TMI time – I may have cried with laughter, so much so, that I nearly pee’d myself on occasion:

“I bit on my lip and looked up at Roman through my lashes, hoping that I looked sexy and not like a duck with piles.”

However, this is no mere romcom, oh no *shakes head*, there is a suspense element woven intricately throughout the story. Hence the ranting and wanting to knock certain characters’ heads together. Whaaaaa? Now don’t look at me like that – we’ve all been there.

I have to say that two of the stand out secondary characters for me were Roman’s mum and dad. They are a hoot. I thought I had problems with The Mommy *coughs* She is the soul of discretion compared to these two. Two words; no filter.

I read somewhere that the author has been especially anxious about this release, but I’m here to say in my humble opinion she doesn’t have a thing to worry about.

It was cute. This is my first time reading this author.

There was also a section in this book where the main character, Summer, mentions a guy who owned a restaurant and had gotten back with his first girlfriend after she'd been kidnapped and beaten by her husband. I knew it had to be a different story that had been written and I was right. So now I need to read Get Your Kit Off, because that sounds like a good story.

This book reminded me of a reimagining of Pride and Prejudice. I didn't love it, but I liked it and I would definitely give this author another read.

I got an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review :) it was my first book written by this author, but it will definitely not be the last, because I absolutely adored it :) originally, I gave it 4,5 stars, but to be honest... the more I think about it, the more I realize how fun it was... so I've decided to bump it up to full 5 stars :) it's a standalone, but there are appearances from people who got their own books before, but don't worry, you will enjoy it even if you are new to Nikki and her writing style :) I was, and it didn't bother me at all :) what it did, is definitely made me more curious to check out her other work :) now that we have this little explanation out of the way, how about I'll tell you a bit more about our main couple...

Roman and Summer... *sighs happily* oh how I adored those two :) Summer is a PA to the boss in a construction / renovation company, and when he sells his business to Roman, she becomes his PA... and they do not have a great start... there's a reason why her nickname for him is Grumpy ;) and it's a very well deserved nickname I have to add ;) he seems like this, well... grumpy and complaining-all-the-time guy, but it's not the only side of him... Summer on the other hand... her personality definitely matches her name ;) she's amuch more open and talkative person, and she's definitely not a pushover, so when Roman yells or is acting like a jerk, she gives as good as she gets... ;) they definitely have a very interestng "relationship" at the beginning of the book... because as we all know, when it comes to romance, usually this kind of tension between two characters is connected to a whole different kind of tension... am I right? *wink wink* ;) and it's definitely true in this case :) one kiss unlocks a whole lot of awesome between them :) because once both of them realize that their attraction towards one another is reciprocated... let's just say the story gets even more interesting :) I don't really want to say too much about them and how they get together, but I will share some stuff :) I absolutely adored them together... I mean, once they admitted how attracted they are to each other, it was sooo much fun :) don't get me wrong, there were plenty of much more serious topics, not to mention the mistakes both of them made, but through the most parts, they acted like actual adults... you know, talking with each other and explaining things... *sighs* it's not as common in books as I would like, so I always appreciate it :)

As much as I loved our main couple, I have to tell you guys... the secondary characters... there were definitely some scene stealers there, that's for sure... :) and by that I mainly think about Roman's family... they were... his parents... I mean... :) there is no amount of words and explanations that could help you prepare for them... ;) and trust me, it's better to not know too much before... ;) that way those scenes.... yeah, when I read about them for the very first time, I almost fell off my chair from laughter... fortunately I read that particular fragment at home instead of on my way to or from work ;) because I'm sure I would not be able to contain my laughter on the bus and people might get weird ideas... ;) I also adored Emma, Summer's best friend for her constant support and advice... ;) there were of course much more people present in this book, especially since it's not only a romance, but there is something else going on... but I can't really tell you anything else about it without giving away some major plot points from way further in the book, soooo... ;) moving on... ;)

This book was written from Summer's perspective, and even though I would absolutely love to get inside Roman's head at least for a little bit, I adored the writing style :) it was fun and entertaining, pulling you in from the very first chapter... :) *sighs happily* I will definitely check out some other books written by this lovely author :) this book was such a perfect escape from reality... it was hilarious and sweet, with some more serious and vulnerable scenes in it as well... and with the most beautiful epilogue ever... or two of them, if were being meticulous ;) I can highly recommend you this book if you are looking for a great written story filled with unique and interesting characters... if you want to laugh out loud and get lost within the pages, this particular book will definitely give you just that :) so go check it out ;)

XOXO

Damn you Nikki Ashton with your fade to black sex scenes. Every. Last. One.
Had it not been for them, I could have given this book 4 stars. The writing was funny but not over-done, the main characters were likable , and the secondary characters were quirky and fun--all things that make great rom-com in my opinion. When Roman kept being a jerk to Summer at first, I thought to myself, "Ohhh, let's hunker down for a slow-burn but I feel like the ahem, "climax" of this relationship will be E P I C!!!!!!!! . . .and then. . . .blah...

I mean come on, would it have killed you to give me a little explicit detail on ONE of the scenes? Totally killed my vibe. I mean, I know I sound like a pervert right now but when you give your book a title like "Roman's Having Sex Again"--a book in which Roman's nutty parents actually threw him a party because they were so ecstatic he wasn't celibate--a girl has expectations. The other enjoyable elements "saved" the book for me but I admit I don't know that I will pick up another title by this author which such enthusiasm. How cruel of her to get a girl all worked up with candlelight and soft music, rose petals strewn about the floor, champagne chilling on the night-stand. . .and them BAM, slam the bedroom door right in the reader's face just when it starts to get GOOD. Damn Nikki, not cool at all.

4.5 charmingly funny stars!! I enjoyed this book so very much.

Summer gets a new boss and damn if he is not sexy. Too bad he is a grumpy ass. But, hey, he is still sexy. You can feel the sexual tension from the moment they meet. Roman is a grump but he is a grump you fall in love with. Summer has a secret and she worries that nobody will want her once she reveals it (example: her ex, Alex, left like the douche he is but we have a quote for him....)

"Alex’s style of foreplay often had me wanting to shout ‘they’re not radio knobs, you know’." ~Summer

Summer is very insecure and that does tend to get a little annoying. I want to shake her and say pull it together girlfriend you have a hot alpha male!!! BUT I love the banter between the two characters. And damn if they didn't get me all hot and bothered as well. I love their relationship. It doesn't help I am totally in to the whole bi-polar vibe Roman has going on. Oh man do I love him. Super crushing!!

The author did one hell of a job developing the characters in the book. I think my favorite part was when they had both families together. Oh I just love Roman's parents!! The freaking banner Twinkle made!! OMG LMAO!!! My only issue with the book is it had a bunch of English (I believe) slang that I had to keep looking up to understand. It didn't bother me but some things I think went over my head. This book was very well written and not only was this book very funny but it was also serious and touched on quite a few topics. And though I did piece some of the story together there was something's I just did not see coming. I love books like this. Books that make you laugh, cry, turn you on, make you angry, keep you guessing and make you believe in happily ever after. Such a wonderful book.

**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**

Another outstanding read from Nikki Ashton

Nikki Ashtons writing is one that leaves you feeling happy, content and really positive which in a global pandemic and in yet another lockdown is EXACTLY what is needed.

Roman is Summers new boss and their first encounter goes great, However things change and Roman quickly adopts the nickname Grumpy but there’s something there and this story follows them both as they work through accepting and sharing their pasts and finding their way as a couple.

The interactions between Summer and Roman are great! The quick wit and sarcasm thrown back and forth had me smiling like a Cheshire Cat!! The chemistry between the two is undeniable and I wanted nothing more than for them to admit it and live happily ever after!
But their journey to get to that place is one I never knew I needed to read as much as I did!!

‘Do you wake up every morning with a plan on how you’re going to piss me off?’ Roman asked without looking up from an invoice that he was studying. ‘No, not really.’  I shrugged. ‘It just comes naturally somehow.’

Nikki never fails to write lovable and compelling characters!! It’s so easy to enjoy the stories she writes because each and every book is jam packed with all the emotions and you feel so involved with the story! It really is a rollercoaster as one minute I was absolutely howling with laughter and then I would read a sentence that makes my heart drop and then suddenly I’m speed reading hoping what I’ve read isn’t true!!

The other characters in the book are AMAZING!! Romans parents - I want them!!! I wish these were my in laws!!! I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone, but every time you see their names mentioned get ready for the deep belly laughs!!
I was laughing out loud to the point my husband asked what I’m watching! I replied it’s a Nikki Ashton book and he went back to his TV! He even knows how incredible the humour is with this author!!

The ending of this book is beautiful!! It’s the picture perfect happily ever after and so deserving to two phenomenal characters.

While speaking with my daughter she said that just give it whatever stars you want to give it. I told her it wasn’t as easy as that. I need to say why it wasn’t my favorite book to read. This book is supposed to be a romantic comedy. Oh, don’t get me wrong there were funny moments in Roman and Summer’s story. I think I got tired of Summer being so insecure that she flip-flopped her way through the book. Meanwhile Roman was very grumpy. I do love Roman’s parents especially his father. He was embarrassingly cute and I can’t blame Roman for trying to hide his parents from Summer.

Roman’s Having Sex Again is the first book that I have read by Nikki Ashton. I liked Roman’s Having Sex Again but, I wasn’t in love with it. I give it 3.5 stars. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

OMG, loved, loved, loved this book, great rom-com with a serious romance story, it had me laughing out loud more than once, just loved "twinkle". They need to up the star rating as this is worth much more than 5 stars.

Summer was a PA to Mr Barlow until he sold the business to Roman. Once he found out her name wasn't Sarah his demeanour changed towards her, he was bossy, arrogant and liked yelling at her at any little thing, she hadn't a clue why, but once all was revealed the romance began, it had its ups and downs, funny and sad moments, everything rolled into one in this book. It was also nice to see characters from previous books make an appearance. The secondary characters made the book even funnier if that is possible.

I highly recommend this book!!

Oh-My-Fandango!
This book is so awesome.
I really loved it.

At first, I thought it was erotic (because of the title). But it is the funniest story I'd ever read... EVER.

I loved the chemistry between Summer and Roman. They are too perfect together.

And Roman's parents are hilarious. I couldn't help but laugh with those two.

I highly recommend it.
And I promise you'll love it too.

Great chemistry and banter. Summer was a little wishy washy, but still had her qualities. As for Roman, he could be hot then cold, but always made it right.

3 batty mother stars

Whilst I enjoyed the side characters and elements of industrial espionage, the plot was loosely based on Pride and Prejudice (did anyone else read that into the plot?) Therefore, the ending was a little predictable but thankfully Twinkle Holliday was not - so extra points for excellent side characters.

5 thought on Romans Having Sex Again

*I enjoyed the setting , it was in the UK and most often contemporary romance books I read are set in the US. I also loved that it was two "normal" people falling in love, not a billionaire or a prince.

*Thoughts on some characters- Roman are main love interest is one of those hot moody guys but is really sweet underneath. He has a past but a realistic one, he's no fifty shades, he is just a normal guy which I loved. Summer our leading lady did annoy me at times she moaned a bit but I did like her in the end. Some side characters I loved was Roman's mum Twinkle, both her and her husband brought so many laugh out loud moments to the story.

*The characters in this book do have sex but what I loved for a change is you don't get every detail, you get the lead up to the sex, a bit of foreplay then the rest is left up to your imagination.

*The plot of the story was good, you had the relationship of Summer and Roman, wondering will they or won't they get together. Roman is a business owner and his company is having troubles and there seems to be sabotage which was a good back story to the romance.

*The only bit I really struggled with was the writing at times. Now I received a e-arc so of course there may be a few spelling mistakes but I just felt the structure felt a bit off at times and a bit jumbled up especially the last few chapters, I got a little confused. However I did enjoy the book once I got used to the writing.

Overall Romans Having Sex Again is a quick, fun, flirty rom-com that I did like. I will be checking out more of Nikki Ashton's books.

This is the first book of Nikki Ashton’s that I have read. I know it won’t be the last. I’ll check out her other books when I need a good laugh.

This is a funny read. There are some serious parts. I won’t go into detail because I would hate to give anything away.

Roman has just bought the company that Summer works for. She is his PA.

He comes across as a jerk towards her. We do get the reason and it’s totally understandable.

I love how Summer didn’t take his crap, she gave it right back to him.

I absolutely love Roman’s mom. She is so freaking crazy. The first meeting between Summer and his parents is hysterical. All I can say is twigs, berries, destiny, & Hollidays.

The party and the banner, OMG!

This is a very good read that will have you laughing.

A lot was going on in this book! Everyone was kind of connected somehow and the situation was just a mess for these characters. I totally felt for Roman and Summer, they had
a lot to get over and a lot to deal with in this book and it was a great read. Roman was totally my style, possessive, bossy, and slightly damaged just how I like all my main men to be in books I read so I've got no complaints on him and his family is a hoot.
Summer had a lot to deal with emotionally and I really felt for her in this. There were a lot of funny moments woven into this story that I really appreciated and the drama was good. Only problem I kind of had was that Summer seemed a little superficial both
in her interests and lack of real depth as a character. I really did like the book though and will be checking out more by Nikki Ashton in the near future.

This is my first book by this author and surely won't be the last! This is one of the funniest books I've ever read!

When Summer meets her new boss, Roman, for the first time, he's really nice and beyond attractive. When he comes into the office for his first day and is reintroduced to Summer, he becomes the biggest jerk she's ever met. How can she continue to work for a guy, even one as attractive as him, when he seems to make it his mission to make every day of her life aggravating?? Summer's nickname for Roman, Grumpy, is really fitting for most of this book. They seem to be opposites in every way until Roman finally gets his act together and admits his feelings for Summer. Then reenter the super nice guy she met that first time who's not at all the grump she's come to know.

From pretty much the first page to the last, I was laughing out loud at this book. This book was heavy on the funny and light on the angst. If I could give more than five stars, I would. It definitely deserves it. Between Roman's hippy parents and Summer and her oversharing siblings, I could not stop reading!

Wow, this is one awesome read! When Summer meets her new sexy boss, Roman, there are instant sparks between them, and the chemistry is off the charts. With Summer’s insecurities, and Roman being grumpy, will these two eventually have a HEA? You really need to read this for yourself to find out! No spoilers from me.
I loved the banter between these characters, and their colourful families. This is a funny, entertaining read, and Nikki has done a fantastic job in writing this story. I cannot wait to read more from her, and I recommend her work for all readers.

I can't decide if this was more an normal romance or romantic comedy because well some of it was funny and other times I'm lost as to how they treat each other. Summer works under Roman after the takes over the company she is at. He's well smooth and nice at the first meeting however when he comes to work, he's a total a$$. It's like a switch has been flipped and he's always yelling at her. So I'm not sure how she's attracted to him to begin with. I mean who wants someone like that. When he starts to warm up to her, you realize it was all a front to keep her away because he wanted her. When you meet his family you get a good dose of CRAZY!! It explains the name of the book and you will bust out laughing. His mom has to be my favorite character! She is a nut.

Roman's Having Sex Again, is a fab read. This book gives you mixed emotions where you wish you could slap Roman for being grumpy to laughing out loud in parts. I love Nikki Ashton's books you always get a good giggle. A must read....

I will admit at first I was a little skeptical because of Roman. I was not a fan of his at the beginning and all I could think I wish we had his point of view so I could see inside of his head, but then he had me won over in a heartbeat. My favorite thing in this book is Roman's parents. They were a riot and had me laughing. They are some quirky characters, but so lovable. The back and forth between Roman and Summer was their foreplay. They have a lot of chemistry. Though the tone of this book is mostly humor there are the deep emotional moments too. The epilogue couldn't have been better. It still had me laughing, but my heart did a happy sigh too.
