He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.

Don't recommend this book.
If I was preteen or teenager maybe I would have enjoyed it. Kidnapped brave girl scout girl, snow storm, cold, nonstop flights and murders. If you really want to read this book, make sure it's a really hot day or you're laying in the beach.

White Hell starts off pretty exciting with Tanner and Sara's plane getting shot down over a frozen lake in Siberia. Then they try getting out of there alive, in a snow storm, with groups of men after them. The writing is vivid but violent with lots of murders. There is a twist to this story where the pair rescue Polina, a 14-year-old Russian girl, who had been kidnapped. Then we see a different side to Tanner. Not the cold, unemotional assassin but a kind and considerate man. We also learn a bit about his childhood. Some of the men who are after them want the girl back, adding to the problem of getting home alive.
I liked the idea of this book but, for me, there were just too many villains to keep straight. They were all after this pair for different reasons but were all in the same place at the same time. Now Tanner and Sara were great. They were 'good guys' and just about everybody else were 'bad guys' chasing them.
I liked Tanner but I didn't find him believable. He was like a superhero. He could sneak up on anybody and kill them without them knowing he was close.
My rating for this book is 2.5 stars. While it wasn't for me, if you like stories with mercenaries and killers, you will like White Hell.

As the title indicates, Tanner and Sara are running around the snow after a plane crash in Siberia. Getting involved with a kidnapped young girl, avoiding wolves, and kidnappers. Another high body count for Tanner fans.

Wow. 'White Hell' was incredibly creative. Tanner should be dead by now with all the crazy scenarios he finds himself in. But nope, he just learns and adapts. So much action, close calls, great characters and a lot of thrills. Definitely a must read.

Team Tanner!
As always 5 stars, because Mr. Kane can write such a great story it's as if you are watching television. If an author can have you cheering for an assassin then you know it's great. I always like when Tanner saves someone and this one was no different. I would like to see the little boy from a few stories back who hired Tanner for a few dollars to kill his mother's murderer! I think he would be a great Tanner one day!

Siberia
In this great addition to the series, Tanner and Sara are taking some down time when the private plane they are on is shot down over a frozen lake in Siberia. This begins a chain of events that has them trekking across the frozen forest toward civilization as they are pursued by several unrelated teams of mercenaries and revolutionaries. It's an exciting read full of non-stop action. I can't wait to get into book 18.

White Hell: Book 17
Tanner and Blake find themselves over Siberia going down in a plane. Fortunately they survive although the pilot does not while this is happening. A young Russian girl is kidnapped and before they all know it, they are connected together, trying to save their lives. This book is attacked different than the others and yet similar, it is definitely a page turner.

This is a very tongue-in-cheek action thriller that reminded me of days gone by when everyone thought James Bond could do anything. But I enjoyed it nonetheless. It starts off on the run and never stops till the end of the book. Nothing deep or overly emotional, but lots of blood and guts and gore. A quick read that will give you a break from the norm.

Another good read in the Tanner series. At times it does seem strange to be rooting for a professional killer but Tanner is a guy that deserves it. In his case, an honorable killer is not a contradiction in terms. Lots of action, high body count, easy read. That’s what you can expect and that’s what you get. Recommended.

Disappointed
What happened? This was the first book of the Tanner series that disappointed me. It was vague as a story, in fact it seems the author just flat goofed off with this one. Why bother writing a book of you aren't going to put forth a decent effort? I don't believe I will order the next one.

What A Man!
The hero was always in the making. The story follows Tanner on his way to Russia ,when he encounters a killer ,a brave girl and a host of idiots who get what's coming to them.There are moments in the story when you just shake your head at the stupidity. It was also refreshing to see a little more of the hero being human. This was just plain good.

What a thriller. This was my first book written by Mr. Kane; however, it will not be my last. It has everything. It makes me cold just reading about the heroes dip in a Siberian lake during a snow storm. This book keeps you on the edge of your chair with a warm throw up until the very end.

Three plane crashes, too many people brutally killed to count, a kidnapped girl, and our hero, Tanner - what more could a reader want? It was not very deep but then it never claimed to be. It was fast paced escape reading and I will admit I enjoyed it.

Good Book
I enjoyed reading this book set in Siberia. The characters were interesting and the story was exciting. I like stories set in very cold places. I only wish it had been longer. I hope if you read it you'll like it too. Happy Reading!

This is a simplistic book with lots of faults but it is an easy and fun read. The hero is an impossibly tough man who is unstoppable but mixes up his tigons and ligers. The story is fast moving and, if you suspend reality, believable.

Rollicking adventure with little depth
Easy to read rather pointless tale with a hero who is every superhero rolled into one. At times the writing and dialogue is quite stilted. Definitely a book I will not remember.

Hitman plus
This super human Tanner is hard to kill. The story is very macho and not believable. But, that said, the story did keep me reading and wanting to know how he would possibly get out of this!

If you are between the ages of 10-17 years old then this book may be suitable for you. For me, it was simply pain reading the constructs in sentences likely made for early teens.
