In the ongoing saga of the Zombie Rules series, Zach, his family and friends are lured from their home in Tennessee and relocate to a post-apocalyptic bunker known as Mount Weather, nestled in rural Virginia. They have been promised a better life by none other than the President himself. Zach's apparent immunity to the zombie virus may hold the key to creating a vaccine and securing a future for the human race. Life at Mount Weather is indeed a significant improvement from their former life, but it is not without its dark side and Zach finds himself having to make a difficult choice.
After being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the United States Army, David Achord found his true calling in law enforcement. His twenty-five year career included stints with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. A lifelong Tennessee native, he is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Cumberland University.
This is a great series. Solid characters that the reader loves or hates, zombie action, bad guys, and Zach's zombie rules. This book shows what a difference it makes if people have lived through the apocalypse versus being safe inside a bunker. It is actually funny to read about politicians wanting to enforce old laws and social ways in an apocalyptic world. They either learn fast or don't survive. This book continues the story of Zach as he decides to join others for the safety of his children. It also details an intelligent young man who is becoming a leader. I enjoyed this addition to the series and look forward to the next one.
This series has been fantastic and this book is just that. It was a book that I didn't want to end. The recap of previous books and characters set up the story perfectly. Fantastic writing style and wonderfully painted characters. Please let this series never end!! If I could I'd rate it 10 stars.
The Z series is without a doubt my favorite book series and book 5 doesn't disappoint. There's a perfect balance written into each character and the power dynamics of the group's interaction is perfect. I hope this series lasts for years.
I learned about Mount Weather (the place) from the TV series The 400 and hoped David Achord's "Mount Weather" was post-apocalyptic. Better yet--it was a zombie book!
My first viewing zombie series was ZNation, and Zombie Rules is my zombie reading series.
Although Mount Weather is the fifth in the series, it works as a stand-alone book. There are a lot of characters to remember, but eventually, I caught on.
I couldn't stop listening. I put aside what I planned to do to listen to this book. It was a satisfying read.
This book really focused on education on not only the zombies but also how it would change the government and leaders. The thing I love of these books, and have said it over and over in my reviews, is how real it feels. It just seems I am reading a letter from a friend in another part of the world. I am glad I purchased the audio book for these books, the narrator is great! He reminds me of Ray Liotta from Goodfellas.
This is fascinating reading. This zombie series is filled with lots of action, Heartbreaks and headaches for Zach and his group. Our if the heartbreaks, there is healing and renewed sense of purpose to live. New characters playing major roles, and less Zach. Will mankind survive 50 years, or will they survive and what does that mean and look like after a zombie apocalypse?
The story continues to progress, and I'm glad that it has taken some of the turns in the storyline and the location of the action.
The Kindle version of this book was an easier read than the last installment, Destiny. It still wasn't a well edited book, but there were marked improvements.
I'm looking forward to continuing with this series.
Good book. Great continuation of the storyline. The only problem I found in this book was that there wasn’t enough of Zack Gunderson. Yes the side characters are interesting and the storylines OK but Zack is the MC of the book and was missing a lot. I am going to read the next book in the series.
I could not put this series down and each book was better than the last. I can't wait for book 6. The characters are amazing and love Zach and Fred I hope there will be many more books in this series. Mr. A chord is a terrific writer
Well, with each book in the series. To me it loses more appeal for me. This book was informative and i got a couple good surprises and a couple of disappointed. Still this is the least of my favorites.
Follow along further with Zach and his crew as they relocate to the relative safety afforded by Mount Weather where the government has taken refuge from the zombie hordes. Shut away from the everyday realities that Zach and his people have dealt with from the beginning some 4 years back, the Weather people are living in a state of relative denial regarding the true state of affairs regarding the ever changing nature of the zombies, there is a growing question as to whether or not this inflexibility will lead to the fall of Mount Weather as they attempt to synthesize Zach's blood into a working vaccine. Having spent the past day reading books 1 thru 5 (hard to put down a good series), all I can say is I hope it won't be long before there is a sixth book as I am fascinated by the manner in which the zombies are changing and want to see what happens next.
I wasn’t thrilled with Previous installment ( Book 4) due to Zack prominence but Book 5 was packed with action and character development. Zach is probably the only character that didn’t develop since Book 2. The story has progressed as more characters are joining forces to make themselves being heard compared to those prideful politicians who relied on their status to survive. As expected, communities change as the balance of power shifts. At the end of this book, one of my favorite characters is re-introduced! It was good to have you back.
One of my favourite series, each book is eagerly anticipated for ages and then read within days. And so the cycle continues as I settle down to wait for the next book. Long may this continue though, it may be hard to wait for the next book but the hardest thing will be the time when there isn’t another book to wait for
An improvement on the other books in the series. The narrator is no longer Zach Gunderson and this allows the pace to increase somewhat. Don't want to spoil the book for people, but there are many interesting twists and turns in this book.
Awesome story. Love how the zombies are behaving in this story line. Can't wait for book 6. Recommend this series for any zombie or post apocalypse fan.
I have just finished book 5 in this series and have thoroughly enjoyed all of the books. The author does a great job in describing what a post pandemic world might look like. I have read over 100 "zombie" books, a dozen series and I rank this series in the top 3.
Another great story in the ongoing saga. Not nearly as much zombie action, but plenty against the main threat, other survivors. Now to read the next story in the series!
