When she meets Mr. Right in the form of an ex-convict named Payce Boyd, Tressie soon discovers the reality of being a thug's girlfriend and seeks comfort in the First Nazareth A.M.E. Church where all of its members are dealing with their own share of drama. Original.
4/5⭐️🎧 Drama is an understatement with all the shenanigans going on in this book! Clutching my proverbial pearls, honey! The Audio is better than the physical book for this one because the narrator really does each character justice.🤣
It was A LOT going on in the lives of these church members. Baby brokers, castration, infidelity, gigalos, Basketball Wives 2.0, and so much more. It was entertaining, but I didn't really like the ending.
It kept you guessing on what was happening next. It was a page turner. Loved all the plot twists. And you felt for all the characters because the way they were described made you feel like you were there in the story. AMAZING HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Really enjoyed reading this book and couldn't put it down because I hunger for more. The drama is the people that attend this church and there life. Just ordered "Drama In The Church Saga".
I listened to this book on audible. The story was a good one. The author did a good job of developing the story and the characters. The pace of the story is extremely slow, the angst came across forced. None of the characters were particularly interesting. Normally I enjoy Karen Pittman's performances. In this book, the delivery of some of the characters was off-putting. The story itself was religious heavy (nothing wrong with that, good pearls of faith were dropped). The drama, which had potential to be amazing, was more like a light tap with the drawn out delivery. There were times when a character completed a speech or his side of the conversation and the woman would say "why are you doing this?" This happened several times . I said to myself "were you not listening? he just told you why he was doing this or said that". The women often times seem unable to think for themselves. The men well they had a tough road in this story. The ending was tied up in a nice bow. I think I was waiting for the "whattt? " moments in the book based on the title. I would have gone for a different title.
The first time I read this book I loved it. I loved it to the point that I produced an entire book club meeting around it. The shenanigans in the book was like a three ring circus. I should not have been shocked at the characters and their behavior but I was. When I read it again, I did not have the same views. The meeting went over very well though. I would like to read more works of this author to see how the writing has changed.
This book was good. It was urban lit but a light urban lit. Lots of inspiration in here. A nice change of pace for me. There were a few stories going on in this book. I looked forward to the sequel of this book and immediately got my hands on it.
I liked this book. It was a good read but not exactly a constant "page turner." This book had a lot of characters in it; It took too long to get back to the drama of a character that I would forget all about it until it came back up. The middle sort of drag but took off near the end.
