All Garrett wanted to do is make sure Marlene was safe. He owed her deceased brother that much and more. The rest was just his instinct to protect her. When he saw the strange man go for his weapon all he could was shield her. The rest did not matter.

I love Garrett. He is decisive, protective, and a man of honor. Being a retired SEAL, all these qualities are a given. He is sworn to protect Marlene, even from himself. He owes her explanations, but until her life is no longer in danger, he will be her bodyguard and control his feelings for her. Rule number one ~ never fall for your client.

Judging from this first book in the Stealth Security series, we are in for an amazing ride of suspense, thrills, and passion. I connected with these characters as if they were old friends. The emotional pull between them made this story memorable for me. Feeling the fear Marlene was experiencing had me seating at the edge of my seat. Yet somehow, she knew that Garrett would be there for her and would save her. I want more!

I received this book as an eARC in exchange for an honest review. That doesn't affect in any single way my thoughts and rating on this book.

What an excellent way to introduce our self into this magnificent world!!! They way that she describes Garrett path in the marines, back on duty was a really interesting thing to read. You don't get the chance to get into their mind often, not even when you ask them about who was the experience on duty. Every time you ask them they bombard you with different question to evade it. Enough of m babbling.

This story is more how Garrett feel the necessity to protect Marlene from this random attacker in one of her fundraiser events. And this how the story develops it self. Marlene who is a big actress in the industry has hired Garrett to protect her in order to keep her save. She introduce him to every one of her friends and co-workers at the movie she was currently working for when the attack happened. Garrett Flynn seems like a nice rude guy with they guy hi is work on bis body. He definitely still has maintained his shape since we he was deployed.

But started to turn the wrong way for both of them during their time together. Eventually they found who was the attacker. I will leave like this. You just have to buy the book and you are up for a treat for yourself. Remember GARRETT FLYNN IS MINE LADIES!!!

Garrett, a Stealth Security employee, is fulfilling a promise he made to his friend, Andrew, as he lay dying. Garrett, a former SEAL, and Andrew, a Marine, knew each other through their time in the military. Though they were in different branches, they met during battles and became friends. Andrew shared stories of his younger sister, Marlene. His pride in her wasn't due to her Hollywood starlet status, but to who she was as a person, his beloved sister. Garrett started falling for her during those talks and when he sees her in person, determined to deliver Andrew's last words, he ends up saving her life instead.

Marlene, a talented actress, is grateful for all she has and is genuinely a sweetheart. She uses her status to help others, namely veterans. It's a heartfelt choice for her as she lost both her Dad, at a very young age, and more recently, her brother, Andrew, as they served their country. She's currently holding an event to raise donations for said veterans and it's going smoothly. Well, it is until she recognizes the sound of a gunshot and is tackled to the ground, albeit as gently as possible, by a stranger that just saved her life.

Garrett quickly explains the situation to security and gets Marlene to safety. Though Marlene does intend to verify he's who he claims to be, she instantly feels safer with him nearby and agrees to hire him as her new bodyguard until the shooter is caught as he has more experience with this type of situation.

As Garrett and Marlene are now in constant contact, their chemistry and connection to one another continually strengthens with each encounter. However, they both have reasons for trying to maintain their distance and keep things professional only. For Marlene, she knows the pain of losing someone she loves to a dangerous job and Garrett's duties as a bodyguard qualify as such. As for Garrett, he still hasn't disclosed to Marlene that he knew Andrew and blames himself for his death. But these two can only deny what their hearts and bodies crave for so long and soon they're falling in love. Unfortunately, the man after Marlene isn't finished and is determined to not only remove Garrett, a man he views as a traitor, from her life, but also to have Marlene for himself. If he can't, no one can.

Can Garrett keep Marlene safe? Who is after her and why? What do they have against Garrett? Will Garrett reveal his secret to Marlene? Or will she discover it on her own? How will she react? Will Marlene finish filming on her current movie? Or does her character's plight hit too close to home? Is there a future for Garrett and Marlene? Or will their time together end, leaving both brokenhearted?

One-click now and follow along as two people meet under dangerous circumstances, yet find a love that will overcome all odds. This is my first book by this author and I truly liked it and cannot wait for the others in the series. Now I just need to be patient, but all bookworms know that's going to be hard. LOL

I will say one thing in regards to the storyline, I noticed there were three different times where Garrett and Marlene discussed how he came to work for Stealth Security. Those other two weren't necessary as we had already learned it was through his friend, Wyatt, after Garrett was injured. If one of those (removing the third use) instances had simply explained in more detail that would've been different, but not repeating the same information. Overall though, I really liked it and her talent is easy to see. I highly recommend it.

I was really looking forward to reading this book as I had already read Mortal Peril and loved it. This book was good - great characters, plot and story line, but the constant repetition of details about drove me crazy and I found myself jumping ahead a page on many occasions to avoid reading one character's thought process repeated over and over again with slight variation for 1 or 2 pages, and this happens throughout the entire book. In addition the author changed the name of the movie director from Nathaniel to Nicholas and forgot to fix it.

That being said, the book had great potential with Marlene Parks, an up and coming actress suddenly in need of a bodyguard. And isn't it convenient that Garrett Flynn was there at the right time. Now Garrett and his team of ex SEAL Security specialists will have to hurry to find out who is determined to get to Marlene. Marlene refuses to hide out to stay safe. She is in the middle of filming a historical war movie and won't allow a crazy 'fan' to stop her from going about her life.

With the two now living in close quarters so Garrett can keep Marlene safe romance quickly blooms. If only Garrett didn't have a secret that will destroy any chance of a future for the two. But someone is determined to expose him and have Marlene for himself.

Great plot idea, just needs some serious cleaning up of the repetition.

This wasn't a bad story but it wasn't executed very well. I liked the main characters but there was an awful lot of internal dialogue, some of which was repetative, making this book much longer than it should have been.

It’s been a while since I gave up on a book, but I had to admit defeat with this one. I’ve been on something of an action/romantic suspense kick lately. I suppose I’ve read some good books in the subgenre and stuck with it for a while. After finishing all the books I had on hand in Cindy Gerard’s The Bodyguards series, and while waiting for the last two to arrive in the mail, I grabbed Cold Peril from Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited program and got straight to reading.

Garrett Flynn is a former SEAL, now working in personal security, but he hasn’t managed to let go of his past. Feeling a kind of responsibility to look out for the sister of a fellow Marine who died in battle, he seeks out the movie star and finds himself lined up with her adoring fans, all there to get a glimpse of her on her way in to a charity event. But when a man in the crowd pulls a gun, security isn’t quick enough, and Garrett’s the one to jump in and protect the famous woman who doesn’t yet know his connection to her late brother. In a matter of minutes, Marlene finds herself the target of a stalker, and Garrett finds himself stepping in as her new bodyguard.

Unfortunately, that’s where the excitement ended for me. As much as I wanted to love their story, Marlene and Garrett soon lost my interest. Marlene was weirdly perfect, both in her fame and in her dealing with Garrett. There were no real misunderstandings, no need for Garrett to really explain why things had to be a certain way, and no interesting conflict between the two of them. They just seemed to fall into step almost seamlessly, and they failed to hold my attention from there on. Sure, Garrett was keeping his connection to Marlene’s brother a secret for some idiotic reason, and the book kept telling me how attracted these two were to each other, but I just couldn’t feel it. And as if that wasn’t enough to lose me, the characters’ continual, repetitive internal thoughts were enough to make me crazy. Both Marlene and Garrett had these long periods in their chapters during which all they did was think about the same things over and over and over again. Like the readers didn’t understand it the first twenty seven times? A good content editor would have made a world of difference…

Anyway, I found myself getting distracted by everything from my grocery list to whether I should go ahead and launder my sheets a day ahead of schedule, and that was my cue to abandon the book. I hate to give up on a new-to-me author so quickly, especially when the books are in one of my favorite romance subgenres, but the more I read, the more annoyed I was, and that would have made for a really mean-sounding review in the end, no matter how I tried to cushion it. So instead, I jumped into a whole new series by a different author.

This is book one in The Stealth Security Series and it is Garrett and Marlene's story. Garrett is a former seal and now he works as a bodyguard, when he was in Iraq on active duty he held his friend Andrew while he died and Garrett decided to seek Andrew's sister Marlene out as Andrew always talked about her and Garrett felt like he already knew her plus he had to give her a message from her brother so he went to a fundraiser that Marlene was at but things don't always go as planned. Marlene is a actress and movie star and she comes from a military background and she is devastated when her brother Andrew is killed in Iraq while on active duty and now she runs a charity to help former soldiers and their families and this is where she meets Garrett for the first time as he stops her from getting killed and that is how Garrett becomes Marlene's bodyguard. Garrett and Marlene have such strong chemistry between them but will they ever get to explore it and will Garrett be able to protect Marlene from the person that wants to kill her. There are many twists and turns that keep you turning the pages to see what would happen next and I couldn't put this book down. I absolutely love this story and it is so well written and definitely worth reading.

This is my first experience reading something by Ms. Trent and I really enjoyed it. This is the first book in the Stealth Security series. The storyline was intriguing and captured my interest right away and held it right through till the last page. Garrett is a Stealth Security employee and was friends with Marlene's brother, Andrew. Garrett made a promise to Andrew before he died to look out for Marlene and the time has come to make good on that promise. Marlene is a big Hollywood star and she is dealing with a stalker. Garrett saves her life at a charity event and they only grow closer after that. Their chemistry and attraction to each is strong and neither can deny it. I enjoyed watching these characters navigate their feelings and face dangerous situations and challenges together. They were a wonderful, strong characters. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.

A fairly enjoyable read.

Garrett is an ex SEAL who tried to meet actress Marlene at an event as he served with her late brother in the military and sadly held him as he died. While trying to get close he saves her from a stalkers attempt to shoot her and here starts the journey of their story. Trying to keep one step ahead of the stalker proves difficult. Garrett and Marlene also have to fight their mutual attraction to each other as both see issues long term. As the stalker ramps up his assault will they both get the chance to be really honest about how they feel.

I did actually enjoy this book. There was a good amount of suspense. It did drag on a bit and sometime felt as if it was just padded out with descriptives and internal monologues.
It was slightly anti climatic, I expected maybe a bit more from the ending.
I Did enjoy reading about Garrett and Marlene getting to know one other I thought it was a bit of light relief

Cold Peril is the first book in the Stealth Security series. I could not put this book down. The story grabbed my attention from the very first page. It's emotional, heartfelt, steamy and full of action and suspense. If you love romantic suspense with an ex-SEAL as the hero, grab this book you won't be disappointed. I absolutely can’t pass up a military romantic suspense book, books about SEALs are my one tree weakness. I love all military stories but there's just something hot about a Navy SEAL. I stayed up into the wee hours of the night to finish this book, sleeps overrated am I right? A huge shout out to the author for an awesome read, you've just gained a lifelong fan. I've never read any of the authors books but that’s definitely going to change and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

I really loved this book about an ex Navy SEAL and the movie star he has sworn to protect. I loved Garrett’s character and how determined he was to be Marlene’s protector and bodyguard. It was sort of a brother’s best friend romance except they were friends in the military and Marlene didn’t know him. In fact she didn’t know he knew her brother at all but it added to his feelings of protectiveness. I also really liked Marlene and how down to earth she was even though she was famous. I really loved the connection between these two characters. Feelings begin to develop between these two and grow through the course of the book. Oh and the stalker is one crazy dude!! The stories that he believes in his own mind were intense. The ending of this book is fantastic!! The conclusion with the stalker and the way their relationship develops beyond this situation is a perfect ending to this amazing book!

Well written book. I loved the action and Suspense in this one. Below is a short review.

Garrett is an ex Navy Seal who currently works for Stealth Security. He decided to go see an old friends sister as she walks the red carpet for a high profile charity event. Marlene is a movie star with a heart and much more attractive in person than on the screen in Garrett's opinion. The charity event is sure to be a big success with Marlene in charge and other stars throwing their weight behind it, but when someone takes a shot at Marlene Garrett jumps in to action.
This one has action, mystery and some heat in it. The first in the new Stealth Security series. I loved it and can not wait for the next book to come out! A must read if you love action, mystery, a bit of romance and well written book.

Garrett, a bodyguard, was a SEAL until he was injured out. On his last tour of duty one of the soldiers reporting to him was Andrew, who was killed. Andrew’s death has left Garrett feeling responsible for it.

Andrew was Marlene’selder brother, and she is a Hollywood celebrity who uses her fame to raise awareness of former soldiers and their families.

Garrett is at one of Marlene’s events, as he wants to tell her about Andrew’s fine moments, when a shot rings out. Garrett automatically changes into protective mode, not quite the way he thought he would meet Marlene. From here on out we see his and Marlene’s relationship develop even though Garrett is now her bodyguard.

I enjoyed the plot and I could relate to the characters. And I look forward to the next book.

I picked this up on a whim through KU and just adored it! The romance drew me in and the action kept me hooked. The characters had a depth to them that I really appreciated. Garrett is protective, determined, and capable. He feels guilty after the death of his friend and is now determined to protect Marlene. He tries to maintain his distance emotionally, but it doesn't work so well. He is really thoughtsful, and I loved the scene where they snuck out to the movies. Marlene is a famous actress, but she is also real. I really liked the scene where she and Garrett discuss her lack of connection with the character and the script.

The action was great and really kept things in high gear. I couldn't put this story down! Looking forward to book 2!

He meets her at a fund raiser she runs a charity to help former soldiers and their families, it is here he stops her from getting killed and becomes Marlene's bodyguard. Their chemistry is very strong but will they act upon it? Will Garrett be able to protect Marlene from the person that wants to kill her? Cold Peril is book 1 of Ms. Trent’s series Stealth Security. A bodyguard company founded by an ex-Seal and whose employees are also ex-Seals.
Garrett Flynn is at a charity event to keep an eye on actress Marlene Parks. She is the sister of a fallen brother in arms, but has no idea who he is.
When Garrett sees a man about to gun down Marlene , he comes to her rescue and ends up being hired by Marlene, at his insistence.
There is an undeniable chemistry between the two , and as the threat against Marlene intensifies, so does the attraction.
A good beginning to a very promising series.

I liked the story, how protective Garrett is of Marlene. It did start a bit slow and took time to build up but the story has an intensity and some suspense that keeps the characters on their toes. I loved that danger, not knowing where it would turn up next. Marlene is sweet, caring and drawn to Garrett from the beginning. It's a little different than previous books by this author but worth the read!

Thriller with a touching twist

I enjoyed this love story/thriller. Stealth security and the sexy bodygaurd Garrett meet up with a movie star just in time to help with a psycho stalker. But there's a secret that must eventually be revealed. This was a cool story with a few interesting subjects underneath the main plot. Steamy and
Suspenseful at the same time. Can't wait to read the next installment of this series.

Opposites attract

A security firm made of ex military and ex seals, protecting the rich and famous but when Garrett goes to a fundraiser to talk to Marlene it wasnt for an autograph but something much more personal. At that time when he was going to talk he noticed a man with a gun and shielded her and automatically became her bodyguard till it was solved but conflics and feelings had a way of working its way in.

This is an interesting story with strong characters in Garrett ,ex SEAL and Marlene, sister of his fallen buddy. It's a well written book filled with suspense and romance. The author brings tons of action and intrigue as she weaves her story and paints her scenes in detail. It's a bit drug out but I did enjoy reading their story.

Enjoyable storyline but I struggled to like either of the characters.

I found Marlene he’d to take, her voice sounded boastful much of the time and she came across as spoiled.
Garrett was tied up in knots and too concerned with keeping or telling his big secret

A good storyline though which kept me turning the pages

Marlena an actress, a victim who ends up with a bodyguard. He saved her life already, proven himself capable, so why is she fighting this? Oh it may have something to do with Garrett being to handsome, to perfect, to protective and it feels to good. She cannot afford a romantic distraction, Garrett needs all his focus on the threat and not her mouth, the way she speaks, the breath she breaths. Focus!!

Retired Navy Seal Garrett wanted to relay a message to the sister of a marine who passed while on duty. He ends up saving her from a bullet at a charity event she is at, and becomes her bodyguard through the security agency he now works for. The characters and storyline is well done. The sparks are there but someone holds back. The suspense and twists kept the pages turning. Very enjoyable.
