Much of the practical advice in the book resonated with my experiences as an ESL teacher. I found the statistics informational and the background info on refugees helpful. This book offers links to resources and lists of "picture books". This book is a trustworthy springboard resource for all educators and school staff who serve students with little or no formal education. Perhaps the biggest takeaway is creating more concentrated counseling programs to help these students effectively cope with social-emotional issues of entering the American school system and culture.
