He wants forever. She just wants his body. Neither of them want to give in. Mitch Harris has it all. As a successful music manager, who isn't hard to look at, he has women falling at his feet. And that's just the way he likes it. For years he's laughed as, one by one, his buddies have found their women and settled down. He vowed it would never happen to him. Until he sets eyes on the owner of the town's new spa. Jodie Miller is everything Mitch didn't think he wanted, but now desperately needs. She's tough, wicked, smart and so damn sexy it hurts to look at her. Mitch isn't sure if it's love at first sight, or just plain lust. All he knows is that Jodie is the woman for him and he'll do anything, and everything, to make her see that they are meant to be together. Jodie Miller was inoculated against relationships when she divorced her ex. She learned the hard way that men might say they like strong, independent women, but in reality they'd rather tie themselves to someone who couldn't kick their ass. As a martial arts expert, spa owner and proud feminist (she's got the T-shirt to prove it), Jodie plans to pour her energy into her business instead of another relationship. She's happy to let Mitch play the part of her sex toy-after all, she isn't dead and he's hot as hell-but there's no way she's giving him her heart. No matter how dirty he plays to get it. ***** This book comes with a bonus short story - Invertary, the finale. *****

3.5 stars. This was good. Not bad. Not great. I had a few laughs. But I think I read it more for the series finale than the main characters. I loved seeing the characters from previous books more than rooting for the main characters. Lake, Matt, Jena, Harry, Betty remain to be my favorites.

I preordered this book out of loyalty to this series, Mitch was not one of the more fascinating characters I enjoyed throughout this series. THANK goodness all the other characters from all the other books were in this last invertary book. Mitch although confident in his masculinity and totally opposite of an alpha male he was just a glutton for punishment falling for Jodie. I for one am a huge supporter for strong confident women but she was over the top, I mean if I had to read one more time how she could take any man I was going to scream! She bordered on mean and UNapproachable! I do not like when a male character is pushed around and made out to be weaker than the female lead, equality baby, goes both ways! I liked the storyline and loved the secondary characters Deke and Brenda's romance. I honestly liked their story better than the main one with Jodie and Mitch. THANK goodness for all the recurring characters from the other books it saved this book for me. Betty is still her hilarious self at 89, and like they say in the book the Satan gnome will live forever :) The wake at the end of the book brilliant, you get to catch up on all the characters and their lives 6yrs down the road and the wake, you question who died??? No one Betty is just being Betty her evil, brilliant self! I loved this series I laughed out loud and was entertained immensely with these books and this imaginary town of totally nutty people. I am sorry it has to end but will be watching for more from this author as she has given me hours of smiles and enjoyment. I truly loved these characters and I am sad to come to a close on this series.

All the good things come to an end, sigh!
With "Caught" we say goodbye to Invertary and its lovely citizens.
I gave it 4 stars (it's a nice, fun romance with a beta hero that has plenty of self confidence and is not intimidated by a tough heroine) but the really good part is the Epilogue, in which we peek in the lives of all the protagonists six years in their future.
I like epilogues so so so much!

A quello - potendo - avrei dato sei stelle!

Perhaps I shouldn't have read the whole series, book after book. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if I had made a break. As it was, I am rather disappointed with the ending novel.

Another story of instant lust (love?), with an even less convincing part of building friendship (partnership).

Meetings characters from previous parts were done funny and lovely a few times, but the other times it was repetitive and almost tiresome.

The serious topic was interesting, but it went fast in the wrong way. Firstly it looked like taking the topic in a believable, real way. Then, Henderson put drama/mystery too weakly (unrealistic). Worse, to create some funny scenes, Brenda revealed the secret to a bunch of women, a secret that was supposed to be national, big, etc. I liked those women, but I don't believe that Brenda (who she was) would have said them such an important secret so easily.

I think it was the first series I have read where I found the last part the worse.

Mitch gets his comeuppance

Introduced in Book 2, Goody Two Shoes, Mitch has been a constant thorn in the side of every man who has fallen in love. Don't get me wrong, I like Mitch, everybody likes Mitch, but his constant ragging on his friends about tying themselves down and falling in love with just one woman has built up a high level of anticipation for when he gets what he deserves.

It happens in Book 7. Jodie was introduced briefly in Book 6 and that initial sense of a woman who doesn't take crap from any man is quickly reaffirmed. But that trait, as well as her sexy body, are like catnip to Mitch, who falls hard. Jodie, not so much. Oh, she thinks he's hot and is happy using/having his body but a relationship, not so much.

Add this combination to the cast of quirky characters in Invertary we know and love and you have many moments where, as readers, you want to sit back with a bowl of popcorn and enjoy the show, or watch Mitch pulling out every trick in the book to avoid repeated epic fails, depending on how you see it.

Some more serious subject matter is laced into the plot, rightfully subduing the humor at times, but never taking away from the great romance arc.

A story much looked forward to, Caught delivers on its promise, while also closing out the series in a touching and fitting manner.

Hilariously cute

I can't say no more...I cheated by jumping from the 1st book to the last because I know Mitch is awesome and deserve a story. Thank you Janet! It's so worth reading, the bffs Josh and Mitch, has a way of choosing their women and like a bull, they go head on whoot whoot! Not only is Jodie such a funny and adorable female character, I love her strength and independence! Thanks for putting in a story about her brother and the cause they did to help abuse women. Love that this story doesn't only make you laugh, swoon and fall in love but it also gives awareness to the flight of these abused women. I'm feeling sad that the series ends here and will definitely still read book 2-5. Great job!

Scotland oh my!

I am hooked, I love every character in this series. Chaos and mayhem in every book. I laughed so hard from the knit and die group, to the dominos guys! The individual couples love stories were awesome.

As good as the rest of the books!! Be careful where you read these books- people tend to look at you in a funny way if you bust out laughing like I tend to do while reading the "Invertary" series.

Loved this series!

I have spent the last week in Invertary, reading & enjoying the whole Scottish Highlands series. I laughed, out loud & uproariously at times, I cried a bit, I ‘awwwed’ quite a lot. Each couple had their own challenges to overcome. Challenges that face many of us, to some extent or another. And they did so with feistiness, ingenuity, love. Too bad, that in the real world, people tend to give up & walk (or run) away, when they don’t get their way, things get tough, or the initial bloom wears off. In Invertary, they stick together, look out for each other, even when they are making each other nuts, and keep their love alive. And each person is encouraged & nurtured to be who they are. I loved & enjoyed each couple.
The ending short story was just about perfect, true to the character of the series, & satisfying as a peek back into the lives of those I came to care about. Hobbit Betty is still a hoot. I might not want a blue head when I’m 95, but I’d sure like to be as interested in life, &willing to stir things up, as Betty is.
I’m off to start the Benson Security series. Then, I’ll see what else JEH has ready. Can’t wait!

I recently had to revisit Invertary since it has been a few years since I read the first 6 books only to discover there would be another and a spin-off series. They were still hilarious and heart warming and again I noticed this author's growth in her writing as the series went on. There's also a gradual change that takes place in the amount of steamy details given in particular scenes as well as an increase in crude language. I can skip over most but this book suddenly took a liking to the "F" word, which I prefer to not ever see or hear but the fact that it's not even used till the 7th book makes me wonder if there was some kind of pressure to conform. As a book this wasn't my favorite, Mitch and Jodie just weren't the best characters and I never really felt their love it just felt forced. As a series I really enjoyed this town and its people and though it's always tempting to want more it's also nice when an author knows when it's time to stop instead of trying to keep the money train going.

This is partially a review of this book and partially the whole series. This one was one of my least favorite of the series which is sad because I like both Mitch and Jodie (Mitch has been one of my favorite characters).

Things I liked about this book:
-I like that Jodie rescues herself
-I like Brenda
-I like the knit bomb scene. It made me giggle
-good use of consent during steamy scenes

Things I didn’t like about this book
-the author has the American characters say things Americans wouldn’t say Josh says “this is not on” that’s very much a Britishism
-how Mitch “wins” Jodie. It feels like he stalks her and crossed over the line from persistence to not really accepting no for an answer.

Overall I’d give the series a 3. It was tough to get into at the beginning but several of the middle books were very touching and made me laugh out loud.

I'm a little sad this series has come to an end. This book is also filled with the characters from previous books; it is also filled with much humor and very climatic cliff hangers that leave you on the edge of your seat. Loved how confident Mitch was not flustered by a very confident Jodie. Again, there is another quick love story with Deke and Brenda, and you still have so many cameos from the other characters. Would love to live in a town like this where the residents really become family to one another and show up to support one another. The ending is great...where it's a few years later and you get a glimpse at how all the couples and their families turned out. Truly, truly a wonderful modern day Scottish highlands romance series!

I loved this series and sorry to see it end. I wished this would have been on audio books. I would have loved to listen to these books.
Sorry to say I like Mitch but his story was just ok. I missed the humor that some of the other books in the series. I gave this book 4 stars due to the epilogue. It was my favorite part of the book. I loved that it gave the reader a peek as to what happened to all the other characters.
If you love quirky characters mixed with small town you will not be disappointed in this series. If this series comes out as audio books I would definitely listen to these stories all over again.

The final Invertary story is a great way to sign off on the town. Henderson takes a serious story about abused women starting again and weaves it into the usual rom com format. I love the new characters. Brenda is hilarious. The main story between Mitch and Jodie is in some ways less compelling than everything else going on in the book. Their instalove is a little TOO insta to take seriously. Still, it's nice to see Mitch find the love of his life, and it's good to have an alpha girl like Jodie find that a man that isn't intimidated by her. The short story at the end is Betty's grand night, and it's great to check in with all the characters a few years down the line and see how they've expanded their families. A good way to say goodbye to our fictional friends.

Can't get enough of Invertary!!!

I leave this review in tears because I have now read the last book in the Invertary series and now I will mourn the fact that this series will not go on. I fell in love from book one and this series now lives on as my favorite. I know all good things must come to an end but for now I need some proper greeve time. Luckily each book is just as good the second, third, fourth....time around. Basically readers I'm telling you this series, this book, the characters are amazing and like me I think you will fall In love as well. Happy Reading!!!

Some steam, potential triggers (violence - including violence against women, misogyny, revenge, kidnapping)

Last book in the Invertary series, this book is the one where Mitch Harris (Josh's manager and lawyer) finally falls for The One. Who happens to be a Krav Magna/martial arts expert and one tough, independent woman.

Some tough stuff here... but several laughs at the folks of Invertary, including the Knit-or-Die group versus the Domino Boys.

Bonus story at the end that helps wrap things up.

I love this series, especially the humour in the books. The reason this book lost a star is because of something that happens in the epilogue that is played off for laughs. I don’t think most people would find it funny if a 95-year-old man used a stun gun on a woman and knocked her unconscious, then lifted up her skirt (in public, no less) to see if rumours of her having her clitoris pierced were true, so why is it funny when an elderly woman takes advantage of a man the same way?

Given Mitch's attitude since he joined the clan in book 2 I was not expecting how this book kicked off. But away we went and what a ride it was. This book had all the excellent qualities of the series, my favorite being the wicked humor which led to many lol moments.
This is a great series that I will make time to read again one day, it's that good. I would just recommend that you read something completely different between each installment.

I think I've had enough of this series. OK, I laughed and it was sexy at times, but when you read them one after the other, you just get amazed at how the same story can be 'disguised'. And I started to get annoyed with all the guys who were so sexy, and the women who were so gorgeous and how they all fell madly in love and got married and lived happily ever after...

Anyway, it was fun... but enough already!

The funniest, chuckle out loud books I have ever read and re-read and re-read. In a series about the inhabitants of a small Scottish town and the hilarious things that happen to the people there. All of the books in the series are fantastic, light-hearted and fun. Well worth the read, especially if you need cheering up. My go-to books if I need a pick-me-up.

Best series!

I enjoyed the whole series and I'm thrilled to have discovered JEH as a new author to me! She's funny and her characters are wonderful! I loved the town of invertary. It was kinda sad to finish the series, but knowing I have the whole Benson Series to read makes me feel much better!

Mitch thought he would never fall in line like his friends have but that all changes when he meets Jodie. The difference is this time she doesn’t want a relationship. She has an important job to do and see Mitch as a distraction. Men don’t want a girl like her, she is tough and independent but everyone needs a little help sometimes!

I really enjoyed this series!

Awesome characters, awesome world building

I loved everything about these books except the detailed sex scenes. The characters, the town the humor are wonderful but I find myself skipping pages of unnecessary graphic sex. It seems like fluff to fill pages. Your writing is too good to need such ploys.

3,25* this was my least favourite couple in this series. Jodie was the alpha in the relationship and Mitch, well he wasn't even a beta-guy...
Sorry Janet, I can't stand it, when the girl is actually the guy.
I gave 3,25* because of the epilogue and the appearance of the other characters.
