Dutch Trilogy #2

Dutch II: Angel's Revenge

Rate this book
Dutch went out with guns blazing. The final day of the "Month of Murder" ended in the decimation of the Essex County Courthouse and the deaths of all inside participating in his trial. Angel and One Eyed Roc, two of Dutch's lieutenants, were captured, tried and sent to prison for life. A legal technicality overturned their sentences, and after three years behind bars, each is released with a master plan of their own to recapture what they had lost. Fueled by her devotion to Dutch and her lust for power, Angel, with prison lover Goldilocks, sets out to take back the streets. One-eyed Roc, now a Muslim called Rahman, seeks to right the wrongs of the streets in his own iron-fisted way. Once 'ride or die' cohorts, Angel and Rahman now stand on different sides of the game. Both are focused and determined to accomplish their individual goals. Will the old friends become enemies? or without their leader, will their malicious ways destroy Dutch's camp for good? Dutch II: Angel's Revenge is the exciting second installment of the Dutch trilogy and a must read for Dutch fans.

True to the Game by author and publisher Teri Woods has been undisputedly titled a classic. While working as a legal secretary for a law firm and juggling motherhood in Philadelphia, PA, Teri Woods completed her first novel, True to the Game. Teri Woods submitted her story over a period of six years to more than 20 different publishers, all of whom rejected her. When major publishing houses refused to embrace True to the Game she wasn’t discouraged. In 1998 instead of giving up, Teri Woods printed, bound, self-published and began selling hand to hand her first book True to the Game. . . . Her grassroots tactic paid off; Teri Woods became a self-made millionaire in just three years selling her novel, True to the Game. She landed a major motion picture deal for the book as well. With the release of True to the Game, Teri Woods has reinvigorated the urban fiction market and created a growing trend in publishing.

Their individual Peace/ Piece

The main focus is on Angel Alvarez. This ill-famed Chica who is one of Dutch's most trusted lieutenants. As we parted in Dutch Angel was looking at serving a life sentence. GUESS WHO'S BACK? ANGEL "THE BADDEST BEYOTCH" Now it's time to get to get retarded in here! After three long years of wondering she uses all of the wisdom from years past to set herself into her rightful position...ON TOP OF THE WORLD! BUT it's always a mountain to get to the buried treasure. What's a girl gotta do to ascend into the game? Use what she's been blessed with! That's right men are all so sick and stuck on what they got, but the true power is buried deep between two legs and real Chica's use what they got to get what they want! Now that's GANGSTRESS! They weren't prepared for the game Angel prepared! With major people falling to her surmise it's still got to be someone who opposes what she's for.

One-eyed Roc because he's a co-conspirator he's also about to breath again. BUT is the newly reformed Brother Rahman ready for what awaits him or will One-eyed Roc make a guest appearance? In prison One-eyed Roc turned his life over to Allah, and now he's all new. So new that he scares himself! Deep inside The Muslim tussles with that once infamous killer. All praise due to Allah. Now that Brother Rahman is fighting to represent the war that has plagued the community. How much opposition will he meet? In the past One-eyed Roc willingly bust his guns in order to infect the city of Newark, but now Rahman is in the same war against the same people he put in the game. Can Rahman win the war he started?

Poor Nina is loosing her freaking mind. I mean he's dead isn't he? Is he alive? I could've sworn... it's a bad case of what ifs as she struggles to involve herself with a decent black man who is employed and importantly alive! But is that enough? TOO bad her heart is taken. Can there be a man for her or is she meant to be lost in love with a ghost?

The book is filled with memories of Dutch and his legacy. Not to mention it has been two years so you needed to be able to recall what you might have forgotten.

PERSONALLY I feel as though Dutch II lacks the POWER of how Dutch began. I won't front it's filled with plenty of DRAMA!

It does seem to teach you a lot about Muslims. It would've been nice had there been somewhere in the book that she put the Muslim and Spanish words with their meanings. It isn't always a given.

Now my questions...
Is it going to take another 2 years to get part 3 on the shelves?
Will we FINALLY learn why he's hailed as Dutch?

This book is the second of a trilogy. I believe this book was the best out of the three because it was filled with so much intensity. The plot was so unpredictable it added a high level of suspense to this story of gangsters, drugs, and violence. I really felt like I could relate a part of my life story to the vicious characters in these books. Teri Woods did an amazing job keeping my eyes focused on the literature. At times I felt like I was actually in the book witnessing every little detail that was presented in front of me. As I read this book, it opened up my mind to new thoughts and ideas. It also made me think about some of my friends and family who live similar lives to some of the main characters. After finishing this book I immediately went out and purchased the next book. I was so engaged into this book I often put myself in the shoes of the characters and thought to myself, "what would I do" It helped enhance my process of thinking. I recommend not only the second book of the trilogy but all three books. Start from the first book and see how the entire story of Dutch's life unfold before your eyes.

I am so mad! How in the world did Angel let Godilocks get that close her? I do not want her (godilocks) to france and the feds catch Dutch. And poor Nina again! I give it to him Dutch is a bad boy I loved what he did for her on her birthday! The signs are there that its him but he could never come back to america because they(the law) would kill him. And what about Bernard Sr. if I was Ms. Delores I would kill him after all these years! Good book now going to order part 3 the finale online. I'm just hoping everybody come out on top! Oh yeah ain't was crazy how Young World girlfriend killed herself oh my that was wild!

I loved the pacing of this book. The ending brings a lot of action and the plans of roc-man and Angel are so detailed. Can't wait for book three. I also have to go back and read book one.

Whooooohh!!! It ain't nothing like going back to a good read to find that shit is JUST as good years later!

I love love LOVE how this entire book was all about Dutch, but the only appearances he actually made were in people's memories. He was the definition of a legend. He left a huge impact and a huge void. People either were trying to emulate him (Young World), take his place (Duke), honor him (Angel), forget about him (Nina), live up to his expectations (Young World and Angel), prove they could fill his shoes (Roll), erase the embarrassment he caused (the law), or undo what he had done (Rahman and Quan) and NONE OF THEM SUCCEEDED!!!

And the KICKER!!! Goldi ass is a motherfucking FED! I knew it! The way Angel picked up on how precise of a shooter she was told me my lil recollection was correct!

Goddamn this shit was good!!!

I am waiting patiently for Dutch III the finale to arrive...the REAL Dutch III by Kwame Teague aka DUTCH, (as opposed to whatever Teri Woods put out that I still intend to read).

After being imprisoned, Angel and Roc have been given freedom thanks to a technicality. They both come out with a different agenda. Angel and her boyfriend have their sights set on carrying out the Dutch mission. Roc on the other hand has seen the light and the error of his ways. After changing his name to Rahman, he chooses a different path - one that proves his change of heart - he is now a vigilante. Now that Angel and Roc are on opposing sides, there is only one thing to do - eliminate the enemy.

I really enjoyed the conflict between characters. Angel's Revenge would make a great comic book/graphic novel.

The book as a whole was not just okay. I listened to it on audible and Ezra Knight was a good one as usual. It felt like the author stayed on the surface of potential throughout the story. The characters were not quite developed and story lines remained unclear. Telling a reader someone is a boss or a bad bitch a ride or die needs to be accompanied with passages that showcase this on some level. When the actions of those who are supposed to be one thing does not gel with information the reader is provided, the story becomes unbelievable. It took me a few weeks to listen to this story.

I don't usually read about a lot of street life thug life gansta stuff but this was a good read. I had to add Teri Woods to my list until she started letting other people write her books and her series started making no sense.

The saga continues with Angel and Rahman getting out of prison on a technicality. Again, the reader brings a new dimension to these familiar characters as the murders and mayhem continue.

Teri Woods is one gangsta ass writer. I almost felt like this book was better than the first one but of course nothing can top the original. I gave this book 5 stars because even though it may not have went out with a bang it still had enough anticipation and drive than a mf!!!!!!!!! The only thing I wish is that Dutch would’ve made his appearance back in the series but I know definitely he’s going to show out in book 3. I loved this book on all different levels but I’ll start with Rahman. I honestly liked his character and how he had matured. The only thing I didn’t like was how he tried to use Islam as an excuse to do messed up stuff to people for his own benefit and greed. But I did figure out that no matter what One Eyed Roc was still under that Rahman front. And Angel? She was a bad ass bitch!!!! In this book Angel proved to be scandalous because she didn’t care about going at any lengths to get what she wanted from these niggas. Dutch had a point; you control the pussy, you control the game. I felt like Angel brought the raunchyness to the story with her sex scenes. Then not to mention she was more smarter than everyone in the story and she was gangsta. I was sad that Young World died but at the same time he wasn’t really ready to feel Dutch’s shoes. It was refreshing to read about Nina and how her love for Dutch was so true that she felt in her gut that he was alive the whole time. Also I loved how Dutch did all the romantic things for Nina too. And Craze coming back at the end was crazy too. I can’t wait to get my hands on the last book in the trilogy.

A good follow up, but I didn’t care for how that Nina sitaution was over exaggerated, at least her feelings were. In the first book that relationship wasn’t as deep as she made it out to be in this one, IMO. Dutch pursuing her behind the the scenes made sense, but her living in regret about breaking it off with him, just didn’t translate well to me in certain instances. By the time the trial happens they had been split for awhile. She only was going to him b/c of the trial.

I don’t know, the book is still good, but something about that part just doesn’t connect the way it was intended too for me.

OMG!! OMG!! Angel was right to start doubting Goldi. I had a feeling that Roc & Angel wouldn't kill each other. I didn't know how they'd survive the war but here comes Craze. Poor Ayesha & the kids they are so worried about losing Roc again. Surprised that Roc wasn't a step ahead of Angel with the school. I'm very glad that Angel didn't hurt the children/teacher. Poor Nina is going crazy thanks to Dutch, I hope that things end well for the two of them. Love is a powerful thing, they said if you love someone let them go & if they come back their yours. Maybe it'll be true for the two of them.

Excellent

I'm such a fan of this series and I have yet to be disappointed. The suspense of what will happen to Nina. To the rest of the family all together again. Please don't tell me Angel won't find out the truth.....
