This was one of my first manga on vocaloid - and it was weird, seeing them in a manga, and not in a song. Let's start with the story - the characters are good (in a meaning you want to see what they will do,you want to see their role in the story - and not only Miku). The book starts slow so it can lead you to the main plot, and when it start - it becomes more interesting - and at the moment it becomes the most interesting, it ends. The illustrations are great, like a high quality manga. I recommend it to vocaloid fans and to people who like manga in general - because if it's with vocaloids it does not mean you need to like them to enjoy this book.
sometimes manga translations just seem like theyre speaking a different language even though its in english and this manga suffers from it. its all spoken english but the sentences are so random sometimes its like, what are you saying? anyway, love the concept and im intrigued by the plot so i'll def be picking up volume 2 asap. it just suffers from "poorly translated manga prose" i think.
also why the fuck are they calling gakupo gack. this feels like erasure of some kind
I like to reserve judgements for first volumes, but so far I am enjoying this manga take on the popular Vocaloid music video. There is an interesting mystery aspect, giving more depth to the original video.
I love the song bad end night, happy happy happy it’s a manga so I can follow the story easier
Gackpo and Gumi get attention I WIN I WON
Edit: Now that I’ve had a few days to think about it.. I think it may be concerning that I’m personally offended by Luka calling Gack a useless butler ;w;
Luka every chance she gets: “tHiS iS nO lAuGhInG mAtTeR” SHUTTT UPPPPPP (jk I love you Luka)
lowk not great pacing and some characters don't really Add to the story but the plot premise and Miku's characterization make me want to read through to the end of the trilogy
It's a little confusing at the start, but once the play starts then it gets better and pulls you in. And then when time gets frozen it had me intrigued! I love the idea of a play erasing the people/characters if a page of it goes missing and disrupts time. So this is all about the mystery of finding the missing page and restoring the play before Miku loses all her friends & colleagues. I need to get my mitts on the next volume soon because I really need to know if the missing page is found and who the culprit is!
I bought the entire collection of the bad end night manga yesterday so I figured I should read the first volume again since it’s been nearly 2 years. I think the art style is one of my favourite it’s very detailed and fits the story well. I like the ambiance of mystery that was instored and the suspense kept me invested trought it all. I would also reccomend listening to the original song “bad end night” while reading it, it makes the experience even better.
I really loved this book. The concept is amazing, and it’s a manga so it’s like a comic book! (Except its read differently) I also loved the characters and how they were portrayed. I couldn’t put it down because I love the troupe so much! I heard the song and what it was based off of, and it really fits into the book. The author did great!
I give this book a 4 out of 5 because most of the elements in this book are unrealistic, but it’s a really good book because Hatsune Miku has to try and find a way out of a loop world. I recommend this book to people who like mystery books, anime lovers, and Vocaloids lovers because this manga is kinda like a mystery book and the characters are based off Japanese cybercelebrites called Vocaloids. These characters are funny and serious at the same time, plus the illustrations are kind of creepy. But overall this is a good book to read.
It was a really good book, I'd have to read more to really determine how good. But for the first book, it did really well establishing the idea and vibe of the series. It reminds me a lot of the rpg games like IB and Witch's House, with it's mysteries and puzzles. Not sure it isn't made from one actually, either way, I'll be seeking the next volume out to read for sure.
I only have volume 1, so my review is probably not fair. This appears to be a mystery of some sort built around Hatsune Miku and friends. It's probably important to be familiar with the characters from other settings to get the whole context; the author mentions a Hatsune Miku song, "Bad End Night" in the comments at the end.
I was unfamiliar with the vocaloid when I picked this up and just liked the sound of the story. Overall a decent first volume. A slight isekai type story but based on the theater. The last chapter/pages had me confused on what two of the characters were talking about, but other than that a nice start to this series.
I really don't know a whole lot about vocaloid, but I know enough to recognize who the characters in the story were. This story is really compelling so far and I love the mystery in this book! I also like how the story is set in the past.
This was excellent I was worried about it being irrelevant to the original . But as far as manga spinoffs go this was very good . I kept me on the edge of my seat and entranced .the art design was phenomenal. I was very impressed with this .💙💙💙💙💙💙
This is based on one of my FAVORITE Miku songs, and it really gives more depth to what is already a good story. The art is very pretty, and is consistent with the music videos as well. Teenage me would have been delighted to have this, and adult me is happy with the fun and darkly whimsical time.
the premise of the book was alright, though it was initially a bit of a bore imo. I read the first 2 chapters and then avoided reading for a while, just to finish it all in one sitting. it is, however, the best vocaloid manga adaptation I've had to deal with, so that's worth keeping in mind.
vocaloid fan so im probably a bit biased but i love it. the art is beautiful, the story suspenseful and had me wondering what would happen next and NOW i have to go get vol 2 because i need to know!
