When Shimana runs off into a rainstorm, the last person she expects comes to her rescue: Zen! When he gets a fever the next day, Shimana feels responsible and offers to nurse him back to health. While caring for him, she learns that he’s been hiding something from her–but that’s not the only surprise he has in store for her. Zen’s got a confession to make and it’s getting harder and harder for him to keep it under wraps.
Oooooh, this volume was certainly more intense and mainly focused on Zen. We learned about (and saw) his strained relationship with his older brother, Ken, who came to stay for a short while after a bust-up with his girlfriend, and whose dream is to become the world number one boxing champion.
Elsewhere, we discover Zen’s dream (wanting to get his manga scripts published) and see him declare his feelings to Shimana with heartbreaking consequences :’(
Also, Shimana has started to develop feelings for Fujiwara (Mr. Landlord) but he only sees her as a child so once again it’s unrequited love all round!
Personally I think Zen is the ‘one’ for Shimana but I am interested to see what happens between her and Fujiwara <3
This volume didn’t make me laugh out loud quite as much but it’s still an excellent addition to the series!
I can't read anymore after this volume. The main character is so childish and all over the place that I hate her. The only person in this series that I loved was Zen. He seriously is an adorable cinnamon roll who deserves nothing but the best.
I had a friend spoil me on how this series ends and I'm so glad I did. It saved me a lot of reading and eye rolling.
I’m absolutely loving the characters and where the story is going. I liked the first two volumes but I think this was one of the best ones I have read so far!
"It's a waste to give up without giving it your all."
¡¡TÚ PUEDES HACERLO KEN, NO TE RINDAS!!
Okay, so for the past 2 volumes, Zen was mainly used for something comedic and to make the story feel light. BUT also on the last volume, we were starting to see Zen start to have feelings for Shimana, and it all came down to a close here. I looooooved how this volume focused more on Zen and how the mangaka managed to make a good and compelling story for him.
Now for the cons, I'm okay with Ken and I think his interaction with Zen around Chapter 14 was really heartwrenching, but I can't help but feel the Boxing Match thingy was put like all of a sudden? Idk I trust Takano-sensei enough and know that this will probably lead on a good ending next volume, but as a reader I can't help but feel confuzzled with it and would rather have the story focused more on the 4 leads. 🤔
I enjoyed this volume marginally more than the first two, solely because of Zen. He's a little cutie pie, and the way However, I am just NOT on board with Shimana's new unrequited love. Just, erk, no. It's not unrealistic (like the entire premise of this series is), but the way other adult characters -- primarily Zen's brother -- behave about it is squicky.
I usually quit a manga series if I don't click with the first 3 volumes, but I'm kind of here for the Zen x Shimana ship, so I do plan on reading volume 4.
Aaaaand my ship sinks. I am really bumped about Shimana rejecting my boy Zen (It’s okay Zen, I’ll date you). I did like that they still stayed friends afterwards but I was hurt for my little cute boy. I am still hoping that my ship hasn’t entirely sunk and that maybe in future volumes, Shimana will start developing feelings for Zen.
Now I honestly have no idea how I feel about Shimana developing feelings for the Landlord, I mean he’s a cool man and I genuinely like him but he sees her as a child and the age gap is kind of weirding me out a bit. On the other hand, we got introduced to a new character, Ken, who is Zen’s older brother and I am quite interested in seeing how his story will play out from here.

It pains me so much to give a volume with my favorite Zen on its cover a low rating, but it just didn't do anything for me. It wasn't funny, it wasn't that cute anymore and it's just getting weirder and messier and I'm not here for it. I'm still here for Zen though. Forever and ever.
Teen soap opera. Our heroine has left one crush behind, realizes one of her harem has a crush on her, but moves her attention on to the most inappropriate of the three.
Manga's like these are always so problematic but I try and push that aside so I can just use them as a distraction and other than the problems I do enjoy this series. However, I am very uncomfortable with the the young main character trying to get the attention of an older man and how some of the characters supports her trying to. I get this is a very big thing in most shojo manga but that doesn't make it okay. I love that we get to see more from one of my favorite characters in this volume though so the rating is a four rather than a three (three is what I usually rate for these kinds of problematic topics if I still enjoyed the read outside of the ick). I definitely think I will be picking up the rest of the series but will try and find the rest second hand like I got this volume (thank you overstock ebay sellers!).

"It's not pointless! If you just give up without trying... Then nothing will change!"
This one was a lot of fun to read. More character development for Shimana and Zen. We also have a new character: Ken who is Zen's older brother.
There are two options. Option 1: I'm hoping that Shimana will eventually feel more for Zen. Option 2: Zen will find a girl who likes him just as much as he likes her.
I don't care how old I get, I will *always* love Shojo manga. This was a volume of transitions, and I'm excited to see how she builds up the story from here. I could be wrong, but I think she's "setting us on the straight path" as it were--I think now Shimana will take her time and find out her true feelings :)
Lol I LOVE Zen and Shimana together. They're both a mess and they fit together really well. But Shimana's over there being ridiculous. The way the story is moving is really interesting. It's both expected and unexpected. It's still pretty juvenile and I probably would've enjoyed this way more as a teen, but it's fun.
Really thought I would've liked this more, considering Zen is my favorite. But I just felt like there was more drama than plot or moments of character growth, which really isn't the most compelling reading.
Another wonderful volume. I fall in love with Zen more with each volume. I was not expecting the direction Shimana's character was going with this one and I still don't know how I fully feel about it. Still excited to continue this series and keep searching for all those hidden corgis.
