Set 80 years into the future, Nelson Jones, a young military cadet full of optimism, is enlisted into the New Era: a fascist regime that arises to rule the world after an attack from an alien species. Under the leadership of Earth's dictator with his ruthless enforcer, Nelson witnesses horrible abuses of power and is forced to confront his values and his world view to make difficult choices. When he happens across a small faction of resistance against this tyranny, Nelson must risk his life to do what he feels is right. Author Jason F. Boggs introduces a universe full of complex characters where the line that separates right from wrong is blurred. The Devil's Dragon is the first of a rich trilogy that explores what it means to be human, from a multiple of perspectives.

interesting and original storyline with a complex political universe surrounding the protagonist.
Its definitely not your normal "the protagonist is the hero whose the best at everything" story. Nelson Jones is very much human who makes many mistakes, some comical and some just frustrating.

Well worth the read and eagerly anticipating the next installment.

“The Devil’s Dragon” is the first book in a Space Opera trilogy by Jason F. Boggs.

The story begins by taking us into lives of two protagonists from different planets. Both individuals operate out of the belief that they are doing what is best for their worlds. One is a dedicated military cadet named Nelson. The other is an Aesini princess named Alene. Alene lives in a world that is reached by traveling through a sungate in space. It is believed that she will fulfill a prophecy about a warrior princess who will reunite the people of her Great Tribe and their gods. A traitor in her father’s camp has sent a viral attack through the sungate to try to gain control of earth and its gold. In Nelson’s case, as he prepares to exit his academy training, he mistakenly supports an individual who uses the appearance of the sungate and the attack on earth, as a chance to further his own agenda to rule the world through his New Era party. When Nelson realizes the truth, he joins up with a renegade group who will work with the princess’s allies to try to stop what is happening. Their biggest threat comes from a woman with a personal agenda. She is known as the Devil’s Dragon.

The author did an excellent job of creating an epic drama that plays out across the galaxy. In both worlds, two greedy individuals who wanted to gain control over others for power and wealth fueled the war. The fate of the people whose lives were being destroyed rested in the hands of those who were aiding these two men. The supporting characters had amazing stories to tell. Even the evil ones. I loved the colorful descriptions of the creatures from the other worlds. The action scenes are so vividly described, I feel like I am remembering this epic saga as if I had seen a fantastic movie, rather than read the story.

“The Devil’s Dragon,” is the first book in the Dragon trilogy. I actually read, “The Dragon’s Harvest,” the second book in the series first. While it stood well on its own, I have to admit that I am glad I had a chance to read this prequel. In addition to being swept up in another great Space Opera, I loved being able to gain more insight into the character’s backgrounds. I look forward to visiting them again in the final book in the trilogy!

This book is a page-turner. I could not stop myself from flipping and devouring every page. It was that engrossing. The writing was downright captivating, the characters were well-thought-of and well-developed, and the entire plot and concept were just exquisite.

The action in this book is everything a sci-fi fan could ever ask for. They were described in great detail so that you could easily picture out the whole setting of each scene. This book is epic! I can feel an adrenaline rush whenever I get to read scenes that involve high-paced action and combat.

The Devil’s Dragon is a wonderful book, and I highly recommend it to everyone! A satisfying read like this deserves all the attention it gets. I am rooting for the success of The Dragon Trilogy and of Jason Boggs.

I was sold on this book because of Nelson and Alene. They are from different planets, but they are both doing what they believe is best for their planets and species. Nelson being the dedicated-to-his-duty lieutenant, while Alene being the prophesied warrior princess to reunite the Great Tribe with their Gods. Both encounter a really big threat known as the Devil’s Dragon and take part in an epic, action-packed story that takes place across the galaxy.

Jason Boggs did a splendid job developing such an unpredictable plot that has a lot of exhilarating action in it. I love this book, and I am definitely going to read the whole trilogy. I encourage you to do so too. This book will not disappoint you, I’m sure of that.

This book is incredibly excellent. For a lengthy book to feel as though it finished too soon is proof of how engrossing and captivating it is. I was so enchanted by every chapter, and I was so hooked from beginning till the end. The Devil’s Dragon is just everything a reader could ask for in a dystopian science-fiction book—action-packed, exhilarating, diverse characters, and a top-notch storyline.

This book was nothing short of a satisfying read. It was exquisitely detailed, and you couldn’t ask for a better way to detail a long story like how Boggs did on this one.

Kudos, Jason Boggs, for writing such a great book that I certainly call my favorite of all time. I am rooting for you and your books’ success.

This is a satisfying science-fiction book that you will read in one sitting. I was so engrossed by this book from the get-go. And I must admit that I didn’t even have the time to eat because I was held captive by its plot. Its excellent pacing, high tension, complex characters, and wonderful overall theme made The Devil’s Dragon the great book that it is.

Thrilling. Suspenseful. Unpredictable.

That’s how I would describe this book by Jason Boggs. He exquisitely brought the story alive in my imagination, and I couldn’t help but be completely immersed in it. As the novel develops and uncovers a lot of astounding happenings, the result is undeniably a splendidly developed storyline.

I loved this book, and I highly recommend it.

The Devil’s Dragon is the epitome of dystopia. It involves brainwashing with an attempt to create the perfect society that the one with authority believes to be befitting. It takes the readers on a wild roller-coaster ride. It is action-packed and somehow disturbing. At the end of every chapter, I find myself bewildered and even hungrier for revelations that could shake up the plot even more. I love that the deeper I went on to the pages, the more the plot made sense. It is written in such a detailed manner, and I could not ask for a writing as good as this. Although it had a number of grammar errors, such errors did not negate the fact that this is a masterpiece.

I incontestably enjoyed this prequel of The Dragon Trilogy, and I feel euphoric to have read an alluring book like The Devil’s Dragon. I so love the characters in the book. From the ever-reliable Nelson Jones to the evil Devil’s Dragon. The characterizations felt so real that you could really see them come alive in the realm that Jason Boggs was able to propagate with his exquisite writing.

This book is generally about conquering evil, and Boggs was able to make clear that the goodwill always outweighs them. The plot is beyond satisfactory, and I could see it as one of the top-grossing sci-fi books in no time.

An absolute 5-star rating for this impeccable book. Definitely a must-read!

A lot happens in this book, and I mean “a lot” as in “A LOT.” It didn’t even give me a breather. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time! That said, this 500-page book didn’t even take a week for me to finish it because putting it down was never an option. I mean, who would put down a book that always has something mind-boggling going on?

The world that Jason Boggs created puts any reader’s mind all over the place. The action was nonstop. So many occurrences arise in this story, and every single one of them was consequential to the plot progression. That’s what makes this book so good. Such a satisfying book to read!

I don't even know where to begin with my thoughts on this book. This is the first time I have read a book written by Jason Boggs, but I can already tell how good of a storyteller he is. His way of words is very captivating.

One of the few things that I loved about this book is the development of the characters. Occurrences where a good character turns into a bad one and vice versa are the things that had me at the edge of my seat. The exhilarating feeling of someone stabbing the back of the protagonists keeps on intensifying as the story continues. I was floored by the twists and turns in The Devil’s Dragon. I highly recommend this book!
