Finding Love is Alison's debut novel. I really enjoyed the story. I admit that at first, I didn't feel like I was fully "into it." I was wrong. (Yes, I mentally said that in my Ron White voice. LOL) I had to put the book down so I could adult for awhile & realized I couldn't stop thinking about the characters. I wanted to get back to it so I could see what happened next. I'd become fully invested in Seth, Abbey, & Brian. Maybe it's just me, but I think sometimes the best stories are the ones that sneak up on you. They burrow inside your bookworm heart & stay with you until you've seen the story through.
This story is one of those. These characters grabbed onto me. I wanted to hug Abbey & throat punch her ex, Chris, for everything he put her & their son, Brian, through. Abbey suffered emotionally & mentally due to her ex-husband's callousness & my heart broke for her. Thankfully, her son is a sweet young man & takes after his Mom. He adores her & detests what his Dad did to her, to them. (Yes, I changed it to just say HER son, because in all honesty, she raised him. She nurtured him, took care of him, taught him how to love, how to be a good kid, & how to treat others. His father was never around, he never took the time to be a Dad. In all honesty, they were better off without him & life was about to get a whole lot better for them.)
Enter Seth. Seth & Abbey lock eyes while she's out shopping with a friend. Abbey has finally decided, with some urging from her friend, Sarah, that she needs to find herself again. She lost her way due to the actions of her ex & needs to start living. Neither Seth nor Abbey act on their obvious connection, but fate steps in & says, "Wait a minute here. You two are not following my plan for you. I will not be thwarted." Later in the week, they're both out with their respective friends & see each other again. This time fate gives Seth the push he needs to introduce himself and so it begins. *I can just picture the Foreigner song, "I've been waiting for a girl like you," running through Seth's head. Yes, I've aged myself with this song shout out, but I don't care. ;-) It's a classic and so perfectly fits the situation.* Seth has also been unlucky in love & was deeply hurt in the past. Abbey is exactly who he needs & so is Brian. He needs them, just as they need him.
Seth runs a security company with his friend, Chase. Seth is a great guy. I have to say, I kept waiting for some flaw to appear like a bad pimple or there to be a huge misunderstanding that would separate them. There wasn't & I was pleasantly surprised by that. The book didn't need it. There was plenty going on with Seth & Abbey each finding a way to work through their own personal baggage, decide that they're starting something special, make sure Brian was okay with the status change, & yeah, keep that jerk, Chris, away from them. It sounds like all this would be overwhelming, making the reader feel like too much is going on, but I never felt that way. In my opinion, everything flowed together nicely. The ending...it about killed me though. While it's not a cliffhanger, per se, there is one big issue left unresolved. I actually breathed a huge sigh of relief because once I finished the book, I immediately did a search on the author, & then did a happy dance upon seeing that book two, Needing Your Love, will be released on November 5th. I have to know what happens with Sean (Seth's friend) & Tracey (Abbey's friend), because they got together in this book, but by the end, things weren't all rainbows and sunshine with them anymore. Sean wanted more and Tracey feels unable to give it, regardless of how much she likes him. I will be jumping on that story as soon as it's released. I have to know what happens next.
I'm eager to see Alison grow as an author, to find her voice, her style, and embrace it. I definitely plan on being along for the ride & hope to see you there. I have a feeling it's going to be a fun journey.

I loved the storyline , not to many authors take on a story about a single mom with a teenage son, but I'm happy to have finally read one I loved . I Enjoyed the characters even the meanies they sent me on a tailspin of Different emotions that had me flipping the pages fast to see what hot , sexy scene , Emotionally Heart breaking, or devious ,Action filled plotline would be conjured up next. The love blossoming between Seth , Abbey & her son Brian within these pages was beautiful . You knew instantly that they would be protected and loved by this Big hearted , hulk of a man and his whole security family no matter what .
Alison How did you know that I've always wanted to be a badass villain in a book ... now I can say That's come true with Mandy!! lol
Oh ....And Alison ,That Crazy - A$$ , Cliffhanger Ending made my Jaw Drop , wondering what was in store for the next book in this series .
I totally fell in love with these characters. The connection and the strength of the friendships they make are something I can identify with. I was completely drawn in to the story and could wait to finish reading it so I knew how things would end.

Abbie, single mother of one, Brian, her 14 year old son are trying to build a life again after Abbie's husband cheats and then leaves her for another women. Like any new single women, Abbie is finding it hard to get back into the dating scene until she meets Seth. Will Seth help her find love again?
I really enjoyed reading this book, it was easy to get into it and the characters were very likeable. I loved how Abbie didn't keep with the whole feel sorry for me character and I loved Seth's alpha tendencies. Throw in a bitter ex and bitchy women, we have ourselves an interesting read. Now be warned this book does end with a cliff hanger, so you will have to wait for book 2 to find out what happens next.
Congratulations on your debut novel, I look forward to reading more of your work.
Finding Love is the first in a series and does end in a cliffhanger!!
This is Alison Mello's first book and though I was a bit unsure in the begining if I was gonna like it I did end up loving it! I can not wait for book 2 so I can find out where Chris is!!
Seth is every thing! I love a hot alpha male who steps up and can take care of a woman. Abbey is strong but definitely had a crap first marriage!
I am giving the book 4 stars. The story was amazing but i was put off in the first few pages by the lack of dialogue. This problem did not last through the whole book and I see tons of potential from Alison Mello!
I loved the book... enjoyed the true friendship, getting to know the character and the real life day to day situations that is so easy to relate too. Looking very forward to the next book.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it
Wow what a book!! I seriously loved this wonderful story.
Abbey is down about her husband cheating on her and throwing her and their 14 year old son out of the family home, while he is shacked up with his new woman.
Deciding to pull herself out of the slump she is in, she gets herself prettied up and on a night out she meets Seth
Seth is taken with Abbey from the start and they embark on a new relationship and both could not be happier, but things start to take a sinister turn!!
This is a very well written romantic suspense, Alison Mello keeps you glued to the page wanting to see what happens next. Written in single POV we get Abbeys thoughts and feelings. She is a lovely woman and a great mother, she cares deeply for people and us frightened of getting hurt again
Seth is a true sweetheart, tender and romantic yet can be very alpha and dominating when he needs to be
I truly could not put this book down, it has romance, excitement, drama, suspense and some steamy erotic scenes as well. I am so looking forward to reading the next book,
Wow gimme book 2 This is my first Alison Mello book and I picked it up on a FB recommendation. Yes I enjoyed it, good characters and world building allowing for more books beyond this one. A very nice introduction!
After being cheated on, dumped for the younger woman and being forced to sell her home Abbey is finally ready to date. Little did she know the trouble her ex had brewing for her. After all he has done to her will she ever be able to relax and enjoy her life with Seth. Plenty of action, intrigue and hot romance.
I received a arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. Reviwer for 2 Girls Who love Books Blog.. #bella..
This is the first book I have read by Alison Mello. And I gotta say that I loved this book right from the get go... I mean I firstly read the blurb and was like wow.. Kick ass hot mamma.. Hot alpha male and a w%£#+ of an ex.. Sounds amazing.. It really is..
So we meet hot mamma Abby... She is encouraged by her friends in getting her bottom back out there to find a job and get back onto the saddle. She slam dunks the motherboard.. Job check.. Hot alpha who makes you wobble at your knees check.. Amazing son check.. Annoying ex who takes no for an answer check..
Abby meet the soo hot and sexy Seth... He sees what he wants.. And he knows what he wants. And you guessed it it's our Abby.... There love and relationship is soo beautiful and makes your heart just melt.. I really love how Alison created the characters and how you feel yourself coming alive when your reading . so magical.... I guess why it calling Finding Love... But it isn't all roses and heart shapped cookies.. There are lots of twist and turn and the build up to book 2.. Yay..
I wanted to give Finding love 41/2 *.... The only reason it's lost half a star is the beginning was a bit slow and I know you need to starting off point but it seemed just a little too slow.. But I really loved this book.. I can not wait for book 2.. Thank you Alison Mello... Xx
Abbey is a newly (about a year or so) divorced mom raising her son Brian with basically no physical support from her ex husband Chris, He forced them out of their shared home (actually made her sell it and split the money 50/50) and hasn't seen his son in about 8 months. While out shopping one day she spots the extremely handsome Seth. While out on a much needed ladies night Seth and his friends are at the same club as Abbey and her friends, Abbey and Seth hit it off on the dance floor. Seth & Abbey spend the next few days texting back and forth and even arrange a wonderful lunch date together. SO Abbey is falling hard, but afraid of getting hurt, I can't say I blame her, some of the stuff her ex husband pulled, it will mess with a woman's mind. Seth is trying very hard with Abbey and her son Brian, Brian & Seth get along great, Abbey & Seth are getting along great, but stuff to happen, the ex starts to threaten Abbey, and actually hits Brian, Seth being the stand up guy he is steps up and moves them in with him. Ladies there is nothing hotter than a man who dates & takes care of a single mom, and Seth steps up and begins to fill that role. The world needs more men like Seth :)
'Abbey felt like her life was torn upside down when she discovered her husband cheated on her and filed for divorce. After a year long pity party, her friends think she needs to get her life back in order, so she decides it's time for some changes and that includes finding a job.
She is so proud of her son, Brian, for starting his first summer job as a camp coach for the local Parks and Rec department. Will Seth stick around and protect Abbey and Brian or will he run when he realizes just how crazy Abbey’s ex really is?’
It took me awhile to actually get into the story but once I did I absolutely loved it and could not put it down! The connections and friendship throughout the book really pulled me in and I loved the interactions between each character. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
Chris is the worst kind of husband you can imagine. A pilot he’s never there and when he is he emotionally abuses his wife and son. When he cheats on Abbey and leaves her and their teenage son Brian for a co-worker it takes Abbey sometime to put their life back together. After a messy divorce in which Chris sells the family home and destroys what little confidence Abbey had, Brian no longer wants to see his father.
Dragged back into the real world by her friends Abbey unexpectedly meets the sexy security firm owner Seth and instantly is ensnared by his easy going charm and compassion. When Chris sees that Abbey and Brian have moved on happily without him, Chris snaps and the stalking begins. But Seth may have found the woman he wants to be with for the rest of his life and he’d be damned if someone’s going to hurt them on his watch.
I love Seth – how could you not? Alison does an amazing job of making you believe that Seth is able to rebuild a broken woman and show her the life she deserves.
WOW. I certainly taken off guard by the direction this book went in, but in a good way!! Talk about a cliff hanger... I'm so glad the entire series is already out there so I can be greedy and read them all without having to wait. Alison's writing style is unlike anything I've read before but I found myself becoming increasingly comfortable with it as the book progressed. Overall, I enjoyed this book!
While the speed of the main character's relationship is a bit quick it wasn't too bothersome. Seth is great! He made me cringe at his sudden use of the term of endearment "baby" but again, it grew on me. His alpha, sexy ways are just right and Abbey definitely found a gem there! Abbey has been hurt and has her own struggles she is dealing with but I admire the fact that she always puts her son first and is a really really good mom!
Reviewed on behalf of 2 Girls Who Love Books Blog. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Abby was delt a bad hand in marriage , her jerk of a husband left her and her son and now she is trying to move on.
I enjoyed this book very much. The characters were written in great detail and were enjoyable.
I fiynd myself very proud of Abby and her son.
While I am want to love Seth , he comes across as slightly pushy. He is very determined that he loves Abby and wants her with him even though they have known each other a short time. He isn't a bad guy by any means , just a bit pushy for my taste.
All in all this is a very good book . It does however end with a cliffhanger.
First I must say I won a free copy of this book from the author. This is the first book I have read from Alison Mello and will not be my last. This book is a bout a single mom of a teenage boy who is trying to pick up the pieces after a messy divorce from a mentally abusive husband who wanted nothing to do with her or their son until she moves on and finds someone new, then he he becomes a stalker. You know the saying "I don't want you but nobody else can have you?" is the ex husbands mentality. This is a great book about love and not just for a couple but for a family and friends as well. Great book I would recommend to everyone who does not mind a to be continued at the end I plan on buying book two asap!
This book caught my attention right away. In the beginning I really thought it was just going to be a steamy romance and I'm not that into those types of books. However, Finding Love is also intriguing - without giving anything away, I cannot figure some things out and cannot wait to start on the next book. The sex scenes were also great, just enough not too much and in great detail. The only 1 thing I did not like was I found that the mom (abby) treated her son (brian) like a baby sometimes - he's 14 and she has to order his chocolate milk for him??? Minor yes but something I did pick up on.
I HATE rating things 3 stars. It always hurts down deep when I do. I know that authors spend blood sweat and tears to create these stories so I always feel like I'm physically hurting them when I have to write a "negative" review. However it does need to be said that it was difficult to feel. I wasn't able to connect as much as I wanted. It also had a lot of little descriptions that felt unnecessary and out of place. Just mundane things that felt like unnecessary filler. With that said I did like the story and will be reading the conclusion. I really can't wait.
Why do the best books always end with a huge cliffhanger? This book was amazing! It's the first book I have read by Alison Mello, and it definitely won't be the last! The story started out a bit slow, but it quickly gained momentum with romance and drama. Great read!
Great story with romance and some mystery. I loved Abbey and her son Brian along with Seth who wanted to protect both of them. I read straight through and can't wait to read more from Alison! I won a copy through a competition and this is my honest opinion.
