What an absolutely beautifully heartwarming story! A delightful Christmas book with 3 storis written by popular Amish author Wanda Brunstetter, her Daughter-in law Jean Brunstetter and first time published author, her grand daughter Richelle Brunstetter. Each of the Brunstetter authors has a short story in this Christmas collection. The authors have worked together to create a story that seamlessly blends all 3 stories together. The book starts out with Luella's story who is the grandmother, continuing with her daughter Karen's story and finishing with grand daughter Rochelle's story. A quilt that is given to the grandmother in the first story continues on its journey of comfort as it is given to the oldest daughter in each story. It binds the three generations of Amish women together. There is a healthy helping of peace, forgiveness and understanding in this book. Wanda Brustetter is an absolute go to author for me and it is great to see she now has a grand daughter stepping into her shoes and publishing as well. I look forward to reading many more books by these authors. Pub Date 01 Sep 2017 Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing, Inc. for a review copy in exchange for my honest review.
When it comes to Wanda Brunstetter books, I will read it instantly, no questions asked. She is truly a talented author. So, when I sat down to read this story, I knew I was in for a treat. This book has 3 stories, each about a mother, daughter, and granddaughter. Each story is written by a generation of the Brunstetter family and all were equally captivating.
Each of the women these stories are written about, suffer emotional times, heartache and devastation, and really tug at the heartstrings. I can't imagine going through the But, throughout all, the stories are focused on one beloved, cherished quilt with thought provoking scripture verse embroidered on it. This quilt reminds me of ones that my grandma quilts. She doesn't add the scripture verse but she will often add our names and the year she quilted it to the quilt. I have several and cherish them just as the characters in these stories do!
This book will completely captivate you and keep you up long into the night, turning each page. You'll fall in love with beautifully chiseled characters, and the presence of God is strong within these pages. The bonds of family are wrapped up in this quilted story and I loved that feeling! Wanda, Jean and Richelle, like a quilt, have pieced together a beautiful collection of stories for readers. I can't wait to read another 5 star collaboration by the talented hands of these women.

The first 2 stories in this trilogy didn't grab me as I had expected them to and took a while for me to get into them. Once I got about half way through each of them then the story started getting more interesting for me. The last story was just right. I was interested and wanted to know what would happen next from the get go. I really enjoyed the last story.
Sweet collection of Amish-themed stories that each feature a beloved Christmas quilt that is handed down through generations in a family. I like the way this common theme connected the separate stories, and enjoyed the fact that we were already familiar with some of the characters. Made it easy to bond from the beginning. Although Christmas is featured in parts of each story, it's not the main focus. There were 3 different authors featured, but I thought the stories flowed pretty seamlessly. The middle one was the least polished of the 3. My only sort-of critique is that the characters seemed more "english" than in other Amish books I've read. I don't know if that is indeed the Amish ways now or what. But it did stand out enough for me to ponder about them. I think any fan of the Brunstetters or Amish fiction will find delight in this grouping of stories!
Thanks to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing for the opportunity to read and honestly review an ARC.
A Collection of three stories written by Wanda Brunstetter , Jean Brunstetter and Richelle Brunstetter. Each story centers around a Beloved Christmas Quilt. In each book the Beloved quilt is given to the oldest daughter of the next generation on the first Christmas after her marriage. All except book one which was given to Luella by Atlees first wife Dena before she died. I usually prefer not to read books that have more than one story written by different authors. I thoroughly enjoyed all three of these novellas. Would like to mention that this is Richelle's first release and I think she did very good with it. She will make a very good author. I highly recommend to all readers of Amish Fiction. Those who have followed Wanda Brunstetter's books over the years and now her daughter in law Jean and granddaughter Richelle, will enjoy The Beloved Christmas Quilt.
The three stories in this book revolve around a special Christmas Quilt, owned by the same family, but passed down through the generations. The three novellas’ are written by three different authors, and are tied into one another. All are three of the tales are based on love and romance, and of course family. The bible verse “For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me”. Psalm 31:3 written on the quilt and appropriate for the theme here. The perfect book for a special Christmas story, each story can stand alone, but are tied in perfectly. I received this book through Net Galley and Barbour Publishing, and was not required to give a positive review.
Three beautiful Amish stories intertwined through a Christmas quilt passed down through three generations. Each story shows how to overcome death to love again, martial strife and fear of new love.
I was very impressed with debut author, Richelle Brunstetter. She has her grandmother's storytelling gift. I'm excited to see how she progresses.
This is the perfect book to give as a present for fans of Amish romance. The stories are short enough to read one story in a sitting. The progression from story to story is seamless. Your heart will be light and airy when you finish the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing for an ARC to read and provide a review based on my own honest opinion.
I am a huge fan of Wanda's so I knew her novella would be fantastic. I have read Wanda's daughter-in-laws writing in past books and really enjoyed her writing as well. But Wanda's granddaughter has a novella in this three part book so I did not know what to expect. I must say all three novellas were fantastic. I love how they are all woven together and the families are part of all three. Three generations of ladies and one quilt. The scripture on the quilt could not be more perfect.
I loved how they all came together so perfectly.
I must say this is a 5 stars two times book. I HIGHLY recommend this book.
The Mary Reader received this book from the publisher for review. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are our own.
A darling set of stories set around a beloved quilt makes this title an excellent read for those looking for a clean and soft read. Filled with Godly respect, Amish traditions, and beautiful scenery, I recommend this for anyone who is a fan of these authors.
For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me. Psalm 31:3
The Scripture embroidered on the back of a beloved quilt brings hope to three generations of Pennsylvania Amish women at Christmastime.
My Review:
The beginnings of a treasured quilt passed down to the next generation. Not only that is passed down, but wonderful writings!! I must confess the last story is my favorite written by Mrs. Brunstetter's granddaughter, Richelle... but, let's start at the beginning.
Luella's Promise by Wanda E. Brunstetter
Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania Day breaks like any other ~ sunshiney, barn chores, an awaited breakfast with family around the table. Luella Ebersol is then on her way to her beloved friend's home to care for her. Dena Zook is looking to the ways of her family, and it includes Luella.
Atlee Zook becomes a strong figure in the story. I would like to have entered his woodworking shop with the scents of curly shavings about as he concentrates to complete his orders for his customers. His young son, Daryl, is well taken care of by Luella as she continues working in their home after the passing of his wife.
Karen's Gift by Jean Brunstetter
Lykens, Pennsylvania This is a beautiful story of adjusting to a move away from parents and the decisions Karen Allgyer and her husband, Seth, each come to in regard to their home. As their family grows, the relationship is continued for the children with visits from their grandparents.
Seth's growth in character is developed and enriched as he deepens relationship within their immediate family and faces challenges on his work duties. Open communication becomes a strength for them as Seth and Karen learn by sharing their hearts together.
Roseanna's Groom by Richelle Brunstetter
Lykens, Pennsylvania This story is about Seth and Karen Allgyer's children as they are older. I liked so much the closeness of this family covering three generations. The joy within the home is so apparent by the connection of their lives and shared fun and chores between them. With difficulties faced, they listen to each other and develop strong bonds that enable them to go forward and to trust the Lord with their lives.
He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he. Proverbs 16:20
I especially liked the decision-making process that formed truth in their lives by depending on the Lord. A continuation of generations before them developed into a love that endures.
A pie recipe follows each story!

If you enjoy Wanda’s books, this one will not disappoint you. The characters are well developed, and have all the humanness you would expect from a “Wanda book”. The quilt theme throughout all three books is a fun way to tie them together, as you’ll see when you read the book.
Both sad and sweet, this story pulls at your heart strings and has you hoping for a happy ending for everyone.
Karen’s Gift By Jean Brunstetter
Continuing on with the same family but a different generation, the quilt again makes an appearance. The introduction of a child with a handicap isn’t something we see often in Amish stories, but Jean handles it well and it adds an element of “life isn’t perfect” to the story. The emotional reactions are very human and the reader will be able to relate to them as we’ve all faced challenges.
Roseanna’s Groom By Richelle Lynn Brunstetter
Richelle Brunstetter’s first book is a win! As the family saga continues, along with the same quilt, Richelle shows that she can write a great story! A fun twist with a runaway groom, this book is definitely not the typical Amish story.
With characters that show depth when facing hardships, you will thoroughly enjoy the work by this new author. I look forward to more from her!
And of course don’t forget to try the recipes given at the end of each story. They sound delicious!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
A delightful and heartwarming collection. The three stories were woven together with three generations and one special quilt. I loved that the precious quilt meant so much to so many as it was passed down from the first story in the book until the last person in the book. I have to say that I found the writing of Richelle to be very much to my liking and I look forward to reading more of her work. I knew that I would enjoy the writing of both Wanda and Jean. This is a definite keeper and I'll read it again closer to Christmas. This would be the perfect Christmas gift for a loved one. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
“For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore, for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.” Psalm 31:3 is a special scripture embroidered on a Christmas quilt that brings hope as it’s passed down through three generations of Amish women. Although they go through different struggles this scripture and quilt binds them together. You will rejoice with the characters in their triumphs and share in their sorrows as their faith is strengthened. Three novellas and three inspiring stories, each written by a different author, Wanda Brunstetter, her daughter-in-law, Jean and Wanda’s granddaughter, Richelle. I always enjoy Author Wanda Brunstetter’s books and it’s exciting that her granddaughter is following in her footsteps. A great gift for the holiday season that can be read anytime. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a positive review.
An enjoyable Christmas read that follows three generations of women as they deal with loss, relationship troubles and family. I love that this book was written by three family members it made it feel more authentic.
This book was so sweet! My mom is a quilter so I love the idea of a quilt being passed down to three generations.
The Beloved Christmas Quilt is co-authored by Wanda Brunstetter, her daughter in law and her granddaughter. I've read several books with Wanda and Jean but this is the first time I've read anything by Richelle Brunstetter. I have to say that Richelle seems to write a lot like her grandmother! The similarities in their writing was evident to me and I found that fact to be endearing.
Three generations of women find strength in comfort in a beloved Christmas quilt.
Luella’s Promise:
Luella's Promise is authored by Wanda Brunstetter. It is the first story in the collection. While this story is a bit predictable, I still enjoyed it. Sometimes you just need a feel-good story, especially around the holidays.
Karen’s Gift:
Karen's gift is authored by Jean Brunstetter. Karen is Luella's daughter and the current owner of the beloved quilt. I loved Karen's story because I could relate to her fears for her child. I think out of all three women in this book, I related to Karen the most. I appreciated the flow of this story and how seamlessly Jean delivered a new generation.
Roseanna’s Groom:
Roseanna's Groom was very reminicent of Wanda's writing. Richelle seems inclined to rely heavily on spiritual and scriptural content to help deliver her story and I appreciate that. I felt this story was slightly rushed but I often feel that way with novellas.
Overall, this book is a 5-star (coffee cup!) rating for me. While some may knock off for predicitablity, the stories were just such a feel-good, quick read for me that I have to go with a five. I can see myself picking this one back up again next Christmas for a reread.
The book reads at a nice, steady pace and I quickly worked through the book in a single sitting. I look forward to future novella collections written by this trio.
A complimentary copy of this book was provided by Netgalley, Wanda's Clippity Clop Club. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. All opinions are my own.
The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a wonderful collection of three short stories that span a generation of authors beginning with Wanda Brunstetter, who is a best-selling author of Amish novels, along with her daughter Jean and granddaughter, Richelle, who also have added their own stories to this book, that span an Amish families generation much like the Brunstetter women have.
Luella's Promise by Wanda Brunstetter takes readers in the beginning of the Ebersol family, beginning with Luella who was hired by Dena and Atlee Zook to help care for Dena and their son Daryl, as her health declines based on an issue with her heart. While Atlee works at his shop, Dena helps with housework and keeping Daryl busy while also helping Dena out as much as she can. They know the end is near and when she passes on a much beloved quilt to Luella as a way of saying thank you for being a friend and to promise to care for her family when she is gone, she never dreamed the turn her life would take as she spends more time with them.
Karen's Gift by Jean Brunstetter picks up the next generation that comes to the Zook family as their child Karen Allgyer grows and begins her own family. However when they discover her newborn daughter Nancy Anne is deaf, it begins to pull on the threads that held this family close. Her husband Seth pulls away to spend time hunting when he isn't working and with their parents so far away, Karen believes that it is time to move back home so she can have the love and support of both sets of parents.
In Roseanna's Groom by Richelle Brunstetter, the Zook family continues as the Roseanne Allgyer, Karen's daughter, finds herself preparing to be married, only to have her groom, John Beiler up and run away just as they are about to saw their wedding vows in front of family and friends. Without any explanation, he simply tells Roseanna, he can't marry her and moves away. Now left with picking up the pieces of her life, she tries to find a future while her heart is mending and that might be with someone who suddenly moves back unexpectedly. Will John realize his mistake before she gives her heart away to someone else?
I received The Beloved Christmas Quilt by Wanda, Jean and Richelle Brunstetter compliments of Barbour Publishing and Net Galley. These are three unforgettable stories of family, romance and the Amish faith, shared between three generations of writers but also written about three generations of one Amish family. I LOVE that they created this unique idea with each of them taking on a new generation and the beloved Christmas quilt that journeys along with them. There are delicious recipes tucked in to entice readers to try their own hand at making these wonderful dishes! I easily give this book a 5 out of 5 stars and just the simplicity of these three stories gives readers an opportunity to take them in one at a time as their busy schedules allow.
Three generations of writers with their own writing style has given readers three enjoyable novellas surrounding a family Christmas quilt in The Beloved Christmas Quilt. Wanda E. Brunstetter, her daughter-in-law Jean Brunstetter has teamed up before for a book, but this one included Richelle Brunstetter, Wanda’s granddaughter. The three novellas are connected with characters that span three generations of an Amish family with the giving of the Christmas quilt being presented to the oldest daughter at her first Christmas following her marriage. Each couple starting with the great grandparents faced their own issues during their years of marriage, but each couple found God was their strength and faithful to give them the strength, guidance and peace for their challenges. There are moments of tears to happy laughs while reading these novellas. The scripture that was inscribed on the quilt provided assurance and peace for each woman that had received the quilt. Psalms 31:3 “For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.” A beautiful promise for readers to use in their own life struggles. An added bonus included a favorite recipe of the primary woman in each novella.
Fans of Amish genre books will enjoy The Beloved Christmas Quilt. I would like to see these authors to team up for another novella series or even a book series. I received a complimentary copy of the book from Barbour Publishing and Wanda Brunstetter. I was not required to write a positive review, but have shared my honest thoughts for The Beloved Christmas Quilt.
The Beloved Christmas Quilt ( Three Generations of Family, Romance, and Amish Faith) By: Wanda E. Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter, and Richelle Brunstetter The Beloved Christmas Quilt is by three generations of authors and each is doing a story on one quilt that binds three generations of Amish Women together. Luella’s Promise by Wanda E Brunstetter, Karen’s Gift by Jean Brunstetter, and Roseanna’s Groom by Richelle. All the stories are wonderful and well written. They tell how a beautiful quilt is passed down from generation to generation. All three of these stories are tied together and tells the lives of These Amish Women. There was times that I had tears in my eyes. These stories has loss, love, romance, faith, and second chances. I love the Bible verse that was on the quilt, Psalm 31:3 . It was just right for this quilt and family. I have read and love Wanda and Jean Brunstetter’s books, but I was happy to get to read Richelle Brunstetter’s story that was her first to be published. She did a fantastic job , and I loved it. I was given a complimentary ARC from the author and the Publishing House , but I was not told that I had to give a positive review.
I was anxious to read “The Beloved Christmas Quilt” by Wanda, Jean and Richelle Brunstetter for the Barbour Review Crew. I love the topics and looked forward to reading more from the Brunstetters.
I’m sorry to say that I was very disappointed in this book. I thought the story premises were very good and would be great to read. However, I thought each book depended mostly on the mundane daily life of the characters. More to the point, each book consisted mostly of conversations about things that would be talked about in a normal family. I did get that there were problems disclosed, discussed, and solved at the end, but I got really tired of reading who said what. I’m sorry that I cannot give the great review I was expecting to give, but I have to be honest. This book was a disappointment to me in many ways.

I was so excited to get this book in the mail to review. Wanda Brunstetter writes wonderful books. Always full of Hope , Family, Romance and the Amish faith. This was wonderful a book written by 3 generations tell tell the love and faith of 3 generations of a Amish family. The characters are well written as is the story. A special quilt that is handed down to the first daughter. Not only is it beautiful but on the back is a special scripture that gets each one who has possession of it a sense of calmness and peace knowing everything is going to be alright.
For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. Psalm 31:3
A a wonderful verse to remember. God will lead us and guide us to the right path if we let Him. As Luella did, then her daughter Karen and last her granddaughter Rosanna. A beautiful story and so well written by 3 authors in 3 generations from one family. A must read!!!
My Review of The Beloved Christmas Quilt by Wanda, Jean, & Richelle Brunstetter
I really, really wanted to love this book, but unfortunately it felt like just about every Amish Christian book that I have read. Even though the 3 stories tie together the only author's story that I liked by Richelle Brunstetter is Roseanna's Groom, which is why I gave this book 3 stars.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review."
A lovely trio of stories showing how a beloved Christmas quilt is passed from generation to generation. The quilt holds special meaning for each family member. These three stories are woven together to make a beautiful message. I received a copy of this book from the author, publisher and Net Galley and this is my personal honest opinion.
The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a must read. Three stories that flow together that keep you wanting to read. I can honestly say I was sad when I finished reading the book. The way Wanda writes makes you feel like you are actually there in the story. This is definitely a must have to read!!!

The Beloved Christmas Quilt by Wanda E. Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter & Richelle Brunstetter
The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a three generational story written, appropriately by three generations of Brunstetter women: Wanda, Jean and Richelle. Neatly tucked into the story is a beautiful quilt that will bring comfort to three generations of women in the Zook family. The quilt bears a label lovingly embroidered by Dena Zook's mother with the words "For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me." Psalm 31:3
Luella's story is written by celebrated author Wanda Brunstetter. Luella is a sweet, unselfish young woman who is the caregiver for Dena, who is dying from heart disease. True to her unselfish nature she strives to provide loving care to Dena's son Daryl while keeping up with all the meals and household tasks. One day, Dena gives Luella a beautiful heirloom quilt, made by her mother. Dena intended to lovingly pass it along to her own daughter one day. She sees something special in Luella's heart and gives the quilt to her with the promise that she will continue to dare for Daryl and Atlee after she is gone.
After Dena passes, Luella continues to care for Daryl as promised. As her love for the child grows, she begins to have feelings for Atlee. Although she is being pursued by Eugene Lapp, she realizes she is in love with Atlee, Daryl's father who is sixteen years her senior. The age difference seems insurmountable and Luella's parents are at odds to accept Atlee as a suitable husband for their daughter. Does a heart recognize age as an obstacle?
Karen's story, written by Jean Brunstetter, is one that could resonate with any young wife and mother who has moved with her husband far from the family farm. Karen is lost without her parents nearby. She goes through the daily motions of caring for her young family but can't help but feel her life would be so much better if she could convince Seth to move back home to be closer to family.
Seth, working through his own stress on the job feels the added pressure of Karen's unhappiness. His job provides a better income for his family than he could earn back home. Karen and Seth face what seems to be insurmountable differences. As she holds the Beloved Christmas Quilt close, she discovers the verse on the label and it provides her with comfort. Can she take heart in the verse as her mother did before her?
Roseanna's story is written by newcomer Richelle Brunstetter, Jean's daughter and Wanda's granddaughter. Roseanna's story is that of a young woman who is left standing alone at her wedding by her beloved John. Her mother, Karen, wants to pass along the quilt to Roseanna, believing that it could provide a special comfort to her. Roseanna, knowing the history of the quilt, doesn't feel worthy of the quilt since John didn't marry her.
After weeks of staying home, she finally goes to town and runs into Mark, who recently moved back to town. The attention he gives her is a welcome change after John's rejection. After staying with his aunt and uncle to think through his actions, John returned. He tried to explain what prompted him to leave but Roseanna refused to hear him out. But when a tragedy strikes her family will the dashing suitor or the man who truly knows her heart truly be there at her side? Once more the quilt provides comfort that so long ago was stitched into each layer.
Like constant character in the story, a quilt that was a labor of love touched the lives of all who owned. I wonder how many of us have a treasured gift that was passed down through generation. The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a heartwarming book that will make a wonderful addition for your Christmas reading list!
What happens when not one, not two but three Brunstetter women write a book? Three great stories from a family of master storytellers! Luella Ebersol is a friend and caregiver to her friend Dena Zook. When Dena gifts Luella with a special quilt, requesting she pass it on down to Luella's own daughter someday, Luella is sure she will never have a daughter because none of the young men in her district hold any appeal to her longing heart. Following her friend's death, Luella continues to visit the Zook household on a daily basis to care for Dena's young son and her husband Atlee, who truly seems lost without Dena. The Beloved Christmas Quilt, an excellent set of novellas penned by three generations of Brunstetter women, is a must-read Christmas gift for the discerning Amish fiction reader. Each is the perfect length to read in an evening. What ties each generation of women together is not only a beautiful Christmas quilt, but the scripture verse that became a priceless statement of faith linking mothers and daughters. The characters are each beautifully detailed; their dialog and behaviors reflect who each one is.
The first novella is “Luella’s Promise”. Luella has been hired by Atlee Zook to care for his wife and young son Daryl during his wife’s illness. Dena’s heart is failing. At first they thought that she wouldn’t live until Daryl was an adult, but that estimate was drastically cut. Before she died, Dena asked Luella for a promise that she would take care of Daryl and Atlee after she was gone. She insisted that Luella take home the quilt as an early Christmas gift; Dena had received it from her mother the first year she and Atlee were married. After Dena went to heaven, people worried about how much time Luella spent taking care of Daryl; her parents didn’t want her to work for him any more after they were seen together in what others in the community questioned.
In “Karen’s Gift”, Karen is an Amish wife with three young girls, from an infant to a five-year-old. She had German measles during her last pregnancy, so she watches the infant carefully. Her husband worked in a job that he enjoyed, and didn’t understand how isolated she felt away from her family who live in another town. She adored her daughters and husband, but was weary from doing everything alone. She wants to be a supportive wife, but struggles with faith and loneliness.
“Roseanna’s Groom” shows us a young woman who works as a seamstress. Roseanna made a beautiful dress for her wedding to John, and the big day arrives. Early in the wedding ceremony, John runs out of the tent. Roseanna follows him but could only learn that he just couldn’t get married. Her father announced that a wedding would not take place but everyone could enjoy what would have been the bridal dinner. Weeks later, she literally runs into Mark, who recently moved back to town. He wants to take her out, just as he had wanted to court her before he had moved away.
In general, I like the easy to read format. Each novella builds on the previous, and each are coordinated seamlessly with regards to the characters, scripture, and quilt. I love how the scripture verse links mothers and daughters along with the beloved quilt on which the verse is quoted. Dena’s generosity for the young caregiver who became her close friend encourages three generations in the same way that these timeless stories are perfect for mothers to give their daughters with a treasured family heirloom.
The plots are uniquely different; the love the women give to and receive from their husband has its own blessings, challenges, and joys. What is similar in each romance is how each woman must rely fully on the Lord through challenges they face, seeking His face and direction. In two of the stories, I didn’t know what the final resolution would be. The raw emotions each woman feels are keenly emoted. I highly recommend The Beloved Christmas Quilt! Each of the Brunstetter ladies has an amazing talent!

I am once again amazed at the depth of writing and emotion the authors has given us. I loved that it not only included a story from Wanda, but also from Jean and Richelle. Each story is like a sweet song that you hear to gently calm you. The characters are so vivid that you want to be friends with them. I really didn't want the book to end because I felt like I had found people who were caring, loving and willing to help others without complaining. It is very family oriented and I loved how they made sure to have meals together. The love that the family members had for each other was well defined in each story. I hope the authors write another book together.
Luella's Promise by Wanda Brunstetter
It was easy to like Luella because she was so giving and compassionate. I loved how she stepped up and took care of her ailing friend Dena and her family. My tears flowed as Dena gave Luella such a precious gift and asked her to make a promise to care for her family when she was gone. I can't imagine how hard it was for Luella as she became close to Daryl and Atlee. I loved reading how nurturing Luella was with Daryl . Atlee is grieving and trying to do the best he can raising his son. It's funny how gossip starts when Atlee and Luella are seen in town together. What does Luella's parents think of her spending so much time at a widower's home? Will their age difference keep them from falling in love with each other? I loved the theme of compassion, love and helping in the story.
Karen's Gift by Jean Brunstetter
I loved how the story seamlessly continued from Luella's Promise. Karen is now grown and has a family of her own. I loved how she embraced being married and caring for her family. When they find out that their baby has something wrong with her, I thought the author did a great job of showing how they cope with it. I thought Seth was a wonderful husband and I did like the part about him going to his dad when things are burdening him. He is having a rough time at work and I sympathized with him when he had to deal with a co-worker. He has his hands full with three children and another on the way. Will Karen and Seth be able to handle the responsibility of raising a large family? Overall the story was good and I loved how the families come together to help each other out.
Roseanna's Groom by Richelle Brunstetter
What a wonderful story this was. I loved reading about Roseanna and her dilemma when her soon to be husband runs away during the wedding ceremony. What would you do if that happened to you? Roseanna is devastated and seemed to blame herself for John leaving. I really enjoyed the time Roseanna spent with her family while working through her problems. It was nice to see her rely on listening to God and not rushing to make a decision. The story gets a bit complicated when an old boyfriend of Roseanna's shows up. Will Roseanna decide to start a courtship with her old boyfriend? Can John learn to forgive himself ? I especially liked this story because it brought the entire family back together and how precious The Beloved Christmas Quilt was to pass down to a family member. I loved the book and have to say it was my favorite because it brought three generations together writing and working together.
