This is another book I read at work while it was slow. I loved every page in this book & has me very tempted to get my own copy. If you need a pick me up in life or just some positive words your way, this book is a must. :)

This book is great for everyone! Not just for women. She reminds me of my mother as they are both INTJs (MBTI Types). I think they both advocate and say the same things in regards to Women, Success, Education, and themselves. They are both great role models and my role models. I love this book, and I a great reminder of the things I was taught by my mother and her mother. Everyone should have a copy on their shelf, especially women.

'Pocket Michelle Wisdom' is a little hardback book filled with quotes from Michelle Obama on topics such as women, success and education. It's an unofficial book and the quotes have been taken from various interviews and speeches she's made. I got the book for Christmas and love it. There's only one quote per page so it's the kind of book you can dip into and open at a random page when you feel in need of a bit of inspiration. As it's a quick read, I've just read it from cover to cover, partly out of interest but also so I can add to my book total for the year (is counting a little book like this cheating?) Even though I've read the whole thing in one sitting I'm sure I'll keep dipping back into it.

I feel like this could've been a much better collection but the quotes chosen were very generic and not overly insightful with a lot of the ideas being repeated in multiple quotes. I would not suggest this book to anyone.

If you've read "Becoming" by Michelle Obama, this isn't anything new. It just has some of the highlights in it. It's cute, but that's about it. Might be a nice gift for a young person who wouldn't want to read the whole book.

I received this book for a gift. I really respect Michelle Obama. This is a book of her wise sayings delivered at various speaking engagements. It is filled with wonderful sentiments.

Michelle Obama has some wonderful accomplishments but this little book of quotes tell you nothing much about her and the majority of the quotes are pretty trite and steeped in boring traditional ideas of family, work and success. I think my favorite quote was "I am an example of what is possible when girls from the very beginning are loved and nurtured by people around them." I think that is an important thing to remember, how early life experiences and having love and nurturing play a large part in a body's confidence and abilities to face society and responsibility. In fact I think it points out the error in some of her other quotes like the ones that insinuate that no matter what your circumstance, you can get ahead or that hard work will always pay off or that success doesn't count unless you earn it. But there are a definitely a few other gems, mostly the one's that have to do with inspiring women and girls.

It’s a small, quick book that I will claim as read this year. It’s still a book 😂 albeit a really small one.

Full of great quotes from the former First Lady Michelle Obama (I especially like the one I quoted above), this simply whets my appetite to read her book. Though it may be difficult for some to separate her politics from herself, if you look at the quotes without it, she makes so much sense. I like her words on education, on women, on strength and change.

This book is a treat to read!

Love to revisit this timeless gem, gifted to me by my best friend a few years ago. Aunty Michelle always has a timely word for us, but my all-time favourite that I love to come back to from time to time is:

“There is no boy at this age cute enough or interesting enough to stop you from getting an education... If I had worried about who liked me and who thought I was cute when I was your age, I wouldn’t be married to the President of the United States.”

Still can’t believe I got to see her on her Becoming tour. Still holding out hope to meet her someday. God willing, we shall see! ;)
