He didn't even want a wife, now he could be stuck with a baby.
I thought an arranged marriage would let me skip the drama and the heartache of picking through dead end relationships.
When I meet my new fiance, he couldn't be less interested in me. It turns out that this wasn't even Devon's idea, he has to get married before can take over the family business. He's looking for a marriage of convenience, not a permanent relationship, so why would the match maker insist he's a smart choice for my husband?
Not that I can deny our chemistry. When Devon lights my body on fire with his unexpected kiss I forget all the reasons I can't go through with marrying him.
Devon:
That kiss was supposed to scare her off, now I have to make sure she doesn't get away.
I have big ideas of turning the family business around, but I don't get control until I find a wife. That's the only reason I let my family sign me up with some crazy match maker.
I don't want a wife, I need one-- just long enough to take over the company, then whatever poor girl gets conned into marrying me can go find herself a real husband.
Stephany's too good for me. She doesn't deserve to get pulled into my messed up situation but I'm already committed to the plan. I need Stephany to back out and call this marriage off but I can't resist taking what I want first.
One taste and I'll never let her go.
*** This is a stand alone novella with NO cheating, a happy ending, and plenty of steam along the way.
Rocklyn prefers her romance reads to be short, cute, and dirty; low drama and a little over-the-top: extra points for growly, alpha heroes with beards.
Originally from the farms and ranches of Central California, Rocklyn grew up in the lap of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Those small towns will always be home, but Rocklyn was born to roam.
These days she spends her days exploring America's back roads in her camper trailer, writing steamy happily-ever-afters while looking for internet.
Follow Rocklyn here, on Amazon, find her on social media, or drop by the website (rocklynwrites dot net) and keep in touch when you join the (mostly) weekly newsletter and never miss updates on what's in the works-- and what's working and not in a life full of adventure and shenanigans.
*** And what do I read? Total smut, the kind with over-the-top chemistry that gets characters to lose their minds and their clothes as soon as possible-- they can work out the kinks on the way to happily ever after later!

I am adoring these short arranged marriage stories.
I have to say that initially, I wasn't on #teamdevon. He was not a very likable guy. However, he turned it around and by the end of the book, I was rooting for him.
Stephany was a very likable heroine. She was looking for love and marriage but got Devon instead. She was patient with him though and I was glad she got her man.
-iffy hero who redeemed himself -likable heroine -no cheating -no ow/om drama whatsoever -they pushed each other away a bit -short epilogue 18 months later, but you can sign up for an extended epilogue
I am definitely looking forward to the future stories.
This book is a great example of why first person POV is hard to pull off. There was so much telling in this book (I skipped to the end and what do you know the author did a bit of showing in the graphic, ridiculous sex scene in the last chapter).
There was too much time spent in (the idiot) male leads head and so little dialogue between any of the characters. I was nearly half way through the book when I gave up and if you put all of the words spoken by the characters together you might have been able to fill 3 or 4 pages.
The male lead was obsessed with his erection, having a fake wife to "warm" said erection, and his families foundation. The female lead was convinced her matchmaker could never be wrong, way too trusting of everyone, and led by her hormones.
Quick, enjoyable read!! Predictable but did put a different spin on the whole arranged marraige scenario with agency spin to it.. I guess I would have liked some more depth to the characters... Regardless might pick up the next in the series..
Matchmaker, Raven Swann has gone off script. She's contacted Stephany to tell her that there's no need for her back-up team to meet with her prospects, because there's only one. Devon James; 29 years old, 6 foot, 2 inches. It seems he's "a smart choice" for Stephany. But Stephany doesn't want a smart choice. She perceives this as a safe choice, but not passionate and exciting.
Devon James is only agreeing to this ridiculousness because he needs to be stable before his uncle will agree to give him the shares he needs to take over the family foundation. It will allow him to make the much needed changes in order to give more back to the community.
Though Raven has instructed them both to meet without their back-ups, Devon's family travels to California with him and insist on being part of the meeting.
As you can imagine, things don't go well. But Raven is more than just a matchmaker. She knows there could be something special between Devon and Stephany. Will they get out of their own way to make things work and will they realize that though things started off with a rocky start, this is exactly what they need to move forward in their lives?
This was really cute and a little hotter (at least to me) than the first two.
My only criticism is that it ends too fast. I always want a little more from these stories. But get on the authors newsletter lsit and she sends extended epilogues so you can get just a bit more of your favorite couples.
This is a short story part of a series that I got on kindle. It is an arranged mariage/online matchmaking. The sex is sizzling and Devon/Stephanie chemistry is off the chart. It's cute story with plenty of sex scene to satisfy if that's your thing.
I have voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
If he wants to take over the family business he has one thing he is expected to do. This is a stipulation put into place from his Uncle and his dad and mom agree....this is by no means what Devon wants. So to appease the family, and so that the company is left to him, he had put in an application on Raven's website, you know the one, the matchmaker with a 99% satisfaction guarantee. That was years ago he filled out the application, and he really didn't completely fill it out. This is again nothing he really wants. Raven must be smarter than she seems because multiple times she has come out in person to make sure that Devon is speaking the truth of being matched up with a forever spouse. He puts on his best show and now, all these years later he gets that call from Raven saying she has matched me with someone. What?!?! Oh well, time to get this over with.
Her friends are fantastic and she is really nervous, but being tired of being played the fool and not taken seriously enough, her application went in on Raven's matchmaking website. When Stephany calls and speaks to Raven about this guy (seeing as how when she looks him up to check things out about him, there is really nothing at all filled out on his application) it was stated that this is "a smart choice" for her. What is that even supposed to mean? Oh well, I am unsure of this but seeing as how her rating is the 99% satisfaction guaranteed Stephany trusts her. Well the way things are supposed to happen for the meeting up with your match seems to be a bit different for her match. Unnerving to say the least. So what is she supposed to do, being a grown up she gets dressed, has her hair done and moves forward.
The table is occupied, but not just by the matches....nope his mom, dad, aunt and uncle are there, who isn't at the table when she is seated is her match. Well, that is definitely a step in the right direction....not. Now here is the late comer to the table. There is to be no alcohol at this meeting, so they order water. He won't even look at her. She is telling herself to just get through this and tomorrow she will call Raven and tell her this is not a match. Maybe she will find someone else for her. Then he up and disappears half way through dinner. Definitely not a good match at all. As Stephany is leaving he calls out to her. She stops and turns, seeing him sitting on the ground and drinking from a flask. That is it, since he isn't taking this seriously, she walks over to him and speaks her mind. He is suddenly caught unaware of his attraction to her.
Devon doesn't want to get married, as stated before he is doing it because he has to. His plan is get matched up, marry and then once the ownership of the company is handed to him, the wife will be out the door with a nice "divorce severance pay" situation. Not even Devon feels the match will want to stick around him after that time anyways. He doesn't want a mousey girl who agrees with him just because....no he wants a woman who can stand on her own two feet and can stand up to him if and when needed. Stephany is surprising him, she speaks her mind and does it in such a way that turns him on...ok so she is smart, has had schooling, and a bit snarky when needed....this is good, no wait this is bad....why is he so turned on?
Raven calls Devon and asks him to come into the office she needs to talk to him, when he arrives he sees Stephany and Raven talking outside the office. It looks like things are finishing up, so when Raven sees Devon over Stephany's shoulder she locks up the office and quickly darts, leaving the two of them standing with each other. Well things are about to change. Devon sees things about Stephany he didn't want to notice before, and Stephany has the same thing happening. Now they take a drive and things really heat up. Devon realizes he wants her, all of her, and he WANTS to marry her. Words get in the way, there are hurt feelings, there is the "I need to make this right" event that happens, and then their happy ending does happen. What happens from the start to the finish of the book and everything in between is so fun/angering/miscommunications and a roller coaster of emotions and twists. Too good to put down.
All Stephany wants is love but she hasn't had any luck finding it. So she's signed up with Raven Swann, matchmaker extraordinaire, to find a husband. A couple of preliminary dates just to make sure things go well and then it's rings, vows, rice, and happily ever after. Or so Stephany thinks. What she gets is matched directly by Raven Swann herself and not her panel of friends. What she gets is the "smart choice"-what she gets is Devon James!
She doesn't want the smart choice. She wants love, the real deal. Instant, over the top, when-you-know-you-know love. She wants a man who makes her feel like a princess damnit, not the “SMART CHOICE”.
Devon's family signed him up with the matchmaker years ago-yes its taken Raven YEARS to match up Devon. If he marries, he's promised the controlling interest in the Foundation, the family business. His plan is to go along with it and get a wife...albeit a temporary one. Once he gets control of the business, his wife can take her divorce settlement money and find herself a real prince. Although, If he's honest with himself, he'd give about anything to find a woman that could put up with him. A strong woman with a mind of her own and a tongue that's just as quick to speak her mind as it is to wrap around his piece!
Their first date is a disaster....I repeat DISASTER!!! Devon ignores Stephany, while his family interrogates her like she's in a job interview. It's so bad, Stephany is not only contemplating calling the whole thing off with Devon, but the whole arranged marriage idea. Neither expect to see each other again after that disastrous first date, until Raven steps in and works her magic. Raven seriously has some mad skills...for real!
After a little alone time, Devon is wanting nothing more than to make Stephany his and Stephany knows no other man will ever make her feel the way Devon does. Is Raven right, is he really the smart choice for her? Can Stephany really risk her heart for Devon, someone who didn't even want marriage in the first place? Devon knows, she's the one and now that he's had her, he can't let her go!!
I've read the other “Arranged Marriage” stories by Rocklyn Ryder and this one did not disappoint. While I wanted to put the hurt on Devon in the beginning, because let's be honest, he was an ass, I really did like him in the end. I think once he got over the fact that he HAD to get married, he realized he actually does WANT to get married, but only if it's to Stephany! I loved the chemistry between Stephany and Devon...I mean , hot, melt your underwear off, EXPLOSIVE chemistry. Their witty banter and whole dynamics had me cheering them on. Rocklyn weaves her scenes and story in a way that captures your attention from the get go and doesn't release you until the last sentence. A definite must read for those who believe in the good girl getting her HEA with the bad boy!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC for my honest review.
I liked this better than others in the series, but it was still half a book relative to plot.
Devon is being forced into marriage by overbearing parents; Stephany is looking for love. But, Devon is a bad boy with a conscience and doesn't want to bring S into a marriage if it will hurt her. But then he falls for her and has to convince her that he can be what she needs.
We finally meet the matchmaker behind all this, but don't learn much.
I felt like with the introduction of the overbearing family, we'd get to see this chick stand up for herself -- while we're told she does it, I would have liked to have read it. Also, while there's an HEA here, we don't get to read about the wedding, which was mentioned but overlooked. I think there could have been some fun drama there. Oh well.
rcvd an advanced reader copy for voluntarily providing a review. we meet devon, bad boy who is forced to find a wife in order to obtain control of the family company. His family is planning every step of the way. stephany has signed up for an arranged marrige so-to-speak with matchmaker Raven Swann. Stephany gets an email regarding her "smart choice" set up by Raven. at their 1st mtg, Devin shows up to dinner with his family in-tow only to be blindsided by thr most beautiful girl he has ever seen. he wants her to run bc he doesn't want to subject her to his family. as stephany is leaving the horrible dinner she runs into devon outside only to be kissed by him. after dashing she has decided that she wants out. Stephany meets with Raven in the morning only to have Devon show up "unexpectedly." devon decides on the spot that he wants stephy and will make it happen. after a beach rendezvous gone wrong, will devon win stephy back or will she stand her ground?
A smart choice is the 3rd book in the arranged marriage series. It is a standalone short story.
Introduces us to another hot, inked delicious guy called Devon. He doesn't want a wife he needs one. His eyes are firmly on the family business, however, to get his hands on it, he must be a family man. He signed up to the dating agency years ago, but they have only just found his perfect match.
Raven Swann, the head of the dating agency, has personally hand picked Stephany's future husband. He is the smart choice but can he be the man of her dreams.
This is the third book I have read by this author. I have to say that this book is my favorite of the 3. Stephany was a very strong solid female character who new how to look after herself. Devon was just as strong and solid as Stephany but he was also broken by his family. Stephany was the glue that helped put him back together. I loved both characters and I loved this book from start to finish. Watching Devon and Stephany come together was am amazing read. I would highly recommend it !!
I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
3.5 stars. Pure smut with an H that starts out as a drunk jerk but then succumbs to insta-lust and becomes a dirty-talking teddy bear. The h is smart and sassy and they fall in love over a weekend together. I mean what do you expect from a novella about an arranged marriage with a matchmaker. I liked it.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
At the end of this book, Rocklyn wrote that she is still new at this. I find that incredibly hard to believe! She is an amazing writer!! She has natural talent! Her writing style is so smooth and flowing. The characters and storyline are very believable and easy to get lost in. I can't get enough of her books. A Smart Choice is about Stephany, who is tired of dating jerks that aren't interested in a committed, long term relationship so she hires a professional matchmaker to find her a husband and Devon, who really isn't interested in getting married but his family is making him if he wants the family company. Raven Swann, the matchmaker has been thinking about a match for Devon for years but never found the right one until Stephany. Their first meeting is a disaster. Devon's family insists on tagging along and Devon is cold and distant the whole way through dinner. They both decide it's not going to work out and each contacts Raven to let her know. Raven invites Stephany to come see her at her office but fails to mention that she also invited Devon. Before Devon shows up, Raven convinces Stephany to give Devon another chance and when he gets there, Devon is shocked at how strongly he feels drawn to her. They decide to spend some time together and see what happens. Do they stand a chance or will Devon's secrets tear them apart?
Raven Swan is well known for her perfect happy ever after matches and she has matched Stephany with Devon; a smart choice.
Stephany not having luck finding her perfect match signed up for Raven’s service. She, of course, wants the passionate romance, family and the everlasting love. Devon has his own agenda; signing up per his families request so he can take over the family business. He has no desire for the wife or family. Stephany and Devon’s dinner introduction was dreadful; with Devon’s parents interviewing her and Devon ignoring her. Stephany leaves the restaurant quite agitated until she meets Devon outside. Chemistry flourishes and one blissful kiss has Devon desiring her, but Stephany bolts with the attitude he is not her match. Devon must prove to Stephany that he is definitely her forever man.
The story is well written and the intriguing plot does pull the reader into the story. Devon’s and Stephany’s relationship starts off bumpy; it was fun to see Devon squirm a bit to capture her heart. Their romance is filled with fiery passion and devotion. If you treasure match making romances this is a great book for your library. {I enjoyed this story and voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy}. Without reservations, I recommend this book.
With being President to the company being held over his head, Devon must meet the requirements of finding a wife. Stephany is tired of finding duds when it comes to dating, so she signs up for an arranged marriage matchmaking. Upon their first meeting everything goes wrong, but when Devon sees her away from his family, he becomes determined to prove to her that he wants her for her, not for the ulterior motives. Will Devon be able to prove that he is serious about wanting a wife to love? Will they be able to get their happily ever after?
This is the second book I have read by this author and I loved it just as much as the first book. I loved how there were 2 sides to Devon, he was tight lipped with his family, but yet when they were on their own he was able to loosen up and be himself. Loved the fact that even though he technically came from money, he was working to rework the way things were running. Stephany was a great counteract to Devon in the beginning and I agree that he needed to see that regardless of everything she wasn't going to back down with his and his family's attitude! Great story and cannot wait for more from this author!

I really enjoyed this story! I liked the take on the arranged marriage because it is being done by a matchmaker. Stephany wants to find a life partner, someone to love and build a family with so she signs up for the matchmaking service. Devon would love to find a partner but that isn't why he signed up. He doesn't have much choice if he wants to run the foundation that his Grandfather started. His Uncle and Father have decided that he has to marry in order to become president and they have signed him up for the matchmaking service. I really enjoyed the characters! They are well written and likable and relatable I thought. The sex is explicit and there is a lot of sexual chemistry between the two of them. Their path is not an easy one because of the situation that Devon is in because of his family. They have multiple issues that they have to overcome. I liked the way that the story unfolded as well. I loved Stephany's friends and hope that we get to see more of them. This story kept me entertained and engaged the whole time. It was a quick read that I really enjoyed. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Alright, this is my 2nd attempt at this author and it also failed. This started out good; the writing was decent and the MCs were tolerable at the start, unlike the last one I tried. But the constant breaks between the dialogue drove me fucking crazy.
Having a quick break between speaking to tell the reader what the character's thinking/doing every now and then is important for background and understanding the character's train of thought. But I swear to God, it was getting to the point where one of the MCs spoke and then there were 2-3 short paragraphs before the other person responded...over and over again in the same conversation! I kept wondering if the other character wasn't even going to bother to respond, and then suddenly they were talking again. By the time they finally did respond, I forgot what they were talking about to begin with, so I'd have to go back and re-read the last quote. This completely wrecked the flow of the story for me and irritated me so much that I just gave up.
I'm giving this author one more try since I usually give an author at least 3 attempts before deciding if they're a good fit for me or not.
What happened to this series. The previous books were fun and happy. It was about finding your true love. This book has none of that. I guess I just do NOT like this book at all.
I hate books that try to push political correctness to a fault. "I want to take over our nonprofit so I can cut salaries" Seriously? At one point a socialist belief comes to fruition. " All new salary structures from the top down. The lowest paid employees make a decent wage now and the highest paid officers are paid competitively, not extravagantly." So the smartest and brightest get a lower salary because the underachieving people will get more money. Yeah. That is a turn off for people who have a good work ethic. Then then he says I don't need to even run the nonprofit because I have people working there who share my vision. So contradictory. Lastly, they have sex ONE time and they are already talking like they are going to have a baby.
Stephany can't wait to be married, it's all she wants, but when the matchmaker Raven calls her about her match Devin, she's anything but convinced when the words 'a smart choice'. Devon can't believe Raven has found him a match. It wasn't Devin that signed him up, it was his Uncle and his Dad, he doesn't want a real wife, just a marriage of convenience, so he can run the family business. When Deccan and Stephany meet, things do not go well, but when both Stephany and Devon contact her to cancel their match, raven has another plan in store.
This was yet another great matchmaker story, the ending was superb. I don't think I ever want to see the Arranged Marriage Rimance collection to ever end.
I received a free copy of this book and chose to VOLUNTARILY review it. My review is completely honest, and a non-incentivized review.
Loved Devon and Stephy. Stephy wants her happily ever after and is done with the frog kissing to get their. Devon is the CEO of his families charitable foundation, he needs a wife before his uncle will let him take over. While he wants a wife and family some day, he needs a temporary wife now. One that has a thick skin to put up with his family and the fall out that will rein down when he shakes things up. Raven Swann does something unprecedented. She bypasses the friend and family interview process and pairs Stephy with Devon. Stephy leaves their first date ready to call it off. Their second, she is done, with men. Devon knows Stephy is perfect for him. He enlist the aid of Strphy's BFFs to convince her. A Smart Choice is fun, fast paced and a steamy love story, with a sweet and steamy bonus epilogue to tie things up nicely.
Another good read by Rocklyn Ryder. She writes these books about arranged marriages and a matchmaker named Raven. Raven is a top notch matchmaker and only 1% of her customers have not been compatible with their selections. This book completely bypasses her standard procedures by cutting out the middle men (people who help find their family/friends" spouses. There is plenty of chemistry between Stephy and Devon. There first meeting was awful thanks much to his crazy family. Will they find a happily ever after? Will his family make her run away? Does love conquer all? Well, I can't give you all those answers because then you won't read the book. If you like a story that pulls at your heart strings and keeps you rooting for things to work out in the end, then this book is for you. You will not be disappointed.
The idea of these books is cute. I like that there is this awesome company that arranges marriages and between this and the last book I read, works out really well. Stephany and Devon get matched without the usual process and he doesn’t even seem to WANT to get married, and his family is awful. But when they meet that all changes and sparks fly. The dirty talk is super good too. I like the fast pace of these types of relationships. Big fan of these books now. I received an arc of this.
This was a quick fun read with lots of hot steamy pages. I wasn't disappointed In this short read. Stephany is a beautiful, smart woman that is ready for marriage and kids, but not the drama of finding Prince Charming. This is her story of using matchmaker Raven Swann to find her "smart choice." Devon, the hot wealthy male that does not want to get married but needs to due to family obligations, turns out to be Stephany's perfect match. It was interesting to see a side of what could happen when you are being matched by someone else and not just by pure chance.
I have really enjoyed Rocklyn Ryder's matchmaker stories. We actually got to see a bit more of Raven in this story and it was interesting to see her methods.
Devon's file remained on the back burner for years - especially since it wasn't really his decision to seek the matchmaker's services - until Stephany completed her application. Their first date was a comical disaster. But when they each give the other a real chance, the find that being together is really a smart choice.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily provided this honest review.

Devon works for a foundation his family owns, he wants to become CEO after his Uncle retires so he can make better decisions for the foundation. Devons family wants him married to pursue his career. He thought getting married was a waste of time until he meets and gets to know Stephany, his match makers choice. Now he wants more than a marriage of convenience, he wants his own family with Stephany and children. This is such a sweet romance, i think its one of my favorite match maker stories.
I love this series! The story takes off from page one and doesn't let you catch your breath until the very last page. The storyline is awesome; Stephany and Devon are so true to life; Kyle and Jaime are really something; and working towards that HEA is a thing of beauty...but have tissues nearby. It's not always a smooth road ahead.
