Lumberjacked

Aaron Remington

I needed the money. That’s the only reason I ever signed up for that stupid reality TV show. I wasn’t looking for a wife, I wasn’t looking for love, and I certainly wasn’t interested in any of the bimbo contestants they picked out for me.

I was set to live with ten girls in a mountain retreat near my hometown in Alaska for a month. I was supposed to fake it until I found my “bride”, film the final episode, and walk away a free man with a hundred grand cash in my pocket.

Just enough to pay the back taxes owed on my family’s lumber mill and keep running things for them.

But I hadn’t counted on meeting her. A slick Hollywood TV producer who somehow managed to steal my heart, mess up my plans, and bumble the entire thing by being infuriating and so goddamned irresistible.

Reagan Black

I needed this job so bad I could do anything for it. So what if it was taking place in some dirty little town in the middle of no man’s land, Alaska? Who cares if it meant leaving my life and friends and LA behind for a month?

I had to prove that I could do this on my own and succeed not just because my daddy was Pavel Black, the biggest movie producer Hollywood had ever seen.

What I didn’t expect was to find myself out there in the middle of the woods in the strong, muscled arms of a big, bearded lumberjack.

And I never expected to be put in a position where I had to choose between the maddeningly sexy star of our hit show and the career I had always wanted.

Can love win?

**This is a full-length (56,000 words) standalone happy ever after. That being said, it also contains angst, some humor, a cute little dog, a hot alpha lumberjack, an uptight LA princess and some pretty steamy sex scenes...so it's best left to those 18+.

I didn’t know how much I missed you until I met you.

I loved the love story, but the story around it not so much. As not a fan of “Bachelor” I don’t support and like the concept of the show and maybe that’s why I didn’t like this part of the book. And also the drama toward the end was a bit silly.

But I really admired the hero. Finally there was an honourable man, not a manwhore (not a billionaire/mogul/playboy/etc.); the man with morals and principals, the man who was totally over the moon for his woman. *swoon*
It was almost adorable to read how he struggled to “perform” with the girls in a show, how he blushed and felt guilty every time he played for the camera. As I said I would appreciate not to have these scenes, but it was kind of necessary if you write about “Bachelor”.

I liked the heroine. Despite being raised in Hollywood, having lonely childhood and a ruthless man as a father, she was pretty down-to-earth. She was a bit badass, but sweet and lovable.

Safety:

Cute epilogue.
“You were daydreaming, weren’t you?”
“I was,” I chuckled, “you caught me.”
“What about?” she asked
“You, of course.”
“Why daydream when I’m right in front of you?”
“I’m thinking about all the time I’ve spent looking for you and all the time we have together. I wish I’d found you years ago, but I’m going to spend the rest of my life making up for it.”

Oh, I loved this more than I thought I would. It was really cute, funny in some spots and has an interesting storyline. I devoured this 326 page book in one day.

description

I have a confession. I am a cover whore. I judge books by their cover and I know I shouldn't, but I do. I have read great books with bad covers, but great covers will get you noticed quicker. This book has an amazing cover and a catchy title. That is why this ended up on my TBR list without reading the synopsis. I am so glad that I read this sooner rather than later. I really loved this!

I wont go into a lot of detail about the book but I'll admit that I am not a fan of reality TV shows centered around relationships. I watched the first season of The Bachelor when it first came out years and years ago and I watched Average Joe, first season and I really enjoyed that one. But that was it. I had my fill of that crap. So, with that being said.... Aaron gets noticed by a TV producer and is thrust into a reality TV show called Lumberjacked and all to save his family's business from from going under due to back taxes. He is perfect in every way and the world will fall in love with the Alaskan lumberjack. I'm sure I don't have to go into detail on how this type of show works... you all get it.

description

Reagan is the producer of the show and Melanie is her "assistant", who basically does everything and I'm not sure what Reagan really does. But Reagan does acknowledge it and that makes me happy. Well, Aaron and Reagan are instantly attracted to each other and the chemistry is is totally palpable. There is so much sexual tension between these two that I'm pretty sure my kindle melted around the edges a little bit. It's super fucking hot!

"he was the kind of guy who could cut a pile of wood with his axe, then come in and fuck you on the kitchen table before dinner."

description

"Because if I lacked impulse control, I would be fucking you hard against this here tree right now, Miss Black. I would be buried so deep inside you, we wouldn't know where I ended and you began."

description

Aaron and Reagan have an agreement to stay professional during the filming of Lumberjacked. Ya, right! Melanie has to babysit these two and pretty much needs to put Reagan in a chastity belt.

description

There is sex in the book, but not a lot. Which was perfect for me. But when these two finally hook up for the first time and Aaron says what he says when he's close to coming... I got belly butterflies. Its been a very long time since that has happened to me.

description

description

Oh and Nick and Peony....
description

Some of the stuff that got on my nerves, but I am kind of overlooking due to how much I enjoyed the story.... repetitiveness. Oh my LAWD this dry humps my last nerve.

"Fuck, she was beautiful."
"God, I wanted to fuck her."
"But damn, she was beautiful."
"Fuck she was beautiful."
"Fuck. She was stunning."

and so on.... It's pretty much only at the beginning, but it is very noticeable. One other thing that annoys me is when Aaron bumps into Reagan and internally thinks how his nine inch cock touched her stomach. I absolutely hate it when a guy sizes up his own dick. Then there are a couple moments where I wanted to smack Reagan across her face for being so naive when Aaron tells her exactly how he feels. Duh Reagan! DUH! Oh and one more... I did have a cliche moment at the end where I rolled my eyes, but I promise that is it.

Overall, I love it. Lumberjacked is a really fun and sexy read. I will most definitely be reading this author again.

Its a cute story. Or it has potential. It was a new story line that I was excited about reading, but it fell flat. It is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors that became annoying. Within the first couple of pages it says she's 24 then a few pages later it says she got a car for her 25th birthday. Its just very amature writing. I understand its self published, but have a few friends look it over first or something.

Their love never seemed real. Just repeating how much love you feel doesn't make a reader feel the love. Too much telling of how much they loved each other and not enough showing and that's probably because they hardly spent any time together.

***Spoilers***
They meet, spend a couple days together, then go to this show filming and don't see each other for like the first two weeks. The only time they do see each other is around other people. They spend almost no time together. All it is, is going back and forth between POV to read about how attractive the other one is. Then all of a sudden they are in love? And if that's not enough, he proposes. And they've never even had sex. Its fine if you don't want to have sex right away, but in order to fall in love you either need to have sex or actually spend time together. One of those HAS to happen. Otherwise, it's just not believable.

The characters are all over the place. One second Reagan is in love with him talking about how she's going to move away to Alaska and is so excited about their life. Then the next she's like "well I have to go back to my life in LA". Then Aaron just assumes she is moving with him and gets angry when she expresses doubt about moving then a few pages later he's like "I don't want to pressure her". I couldn't keep up with them.

Aaron's POV was the least believable. It was clear this was written by a woman. All he did was obsess over how attractive Reagan is. Doesn't seem like something a "lumberjack" man would do.

There is also a couple of times he thinks about grabbing her by the hair and dragging her places and not in a sexual way. That put me off. Reagan also expressed being afraid of his anger at her once. Didn't like that either.

The story drags on and on, while they are filming this reality show, about how each other are handling their jealousy.
"I hope she's not jealous"
"oh I'm so jealous, but I can't let him know. This is so not like me" Really? Cuz it seems like you.
As a matter of fact the author continually has Reagan muse "this isn't me", but we have zero back story on how she was before, so to me that is how she is.
They really have no back story on each other either. They are engaged and she has no clue he has 3 younger brothers or a single mother. Aaron knows nothing of her dead mother. They never talk about the others life at all. They know nothing about each other, but I'm supposed to believe they're in love because "I feel so in love with him". No. Sorry, but no.

Both characters seem immature. Neither seem like they should be in a relationship. Especially not one where they hardly know each other and are talking about moving away together and getting married.

And the "struggle" Reagan has, is that she can't have love and work. Because her dad only worked and never loved. Why are work and love mutually exclusive? She could actually get to know a man and love him AND have a career.

Anyway, is cost 99 cents, so I'm not mad or anything, but if there was a sequel I wouldn't buy it.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is a cute read and i really enjoyed it.

We have a bearded, muscled lumberjack who is only in LA to get the money that his little brother owes to him and a producer who's last show completely flopped and desperately needs a hit show to propel her career and gain her fathers approval.

Right from the start there is a magnetic pull of lust and attraction, but takes a while before both of them finally do anything about it other than just flirting.

They are worlds apart from each other but they just mesh well. One brought up in LA in a rich household while the other is now managing a lumber mill.

This is the first book that i have read from this author, but i have a feeling that it will not be my last.

This is a cute romance read that is set in theme like the TV show the Bachelor. The hero is a bearded, muscled lumberjack who is only in LA to get the money that his little brother owes to him and then we have the heroine who is a producer whose last show completely flopped and desperately needs a hit TV show to push her career upwards and gain her father’s approval. These two end up meeting and the chemistry is electric. The idea is put to her about using him, Aaron, as the next big thing- having a TV build around him and call it “Lumberjacked” and style it Bachelor-esqe style.
Aaron is in desperate straits so he is willing to , if he will get paid—there is a good reason why he needs the money and when Reagan proposes using Aaron- Aaron couldn’t resist. He fell for her immediately when he laid eyes on her and Reagan felt the chemistry but didn’t want to take the risk—at first. As they worked together, the feelings grew between them and the chemistry was so hot. But would Reagan take the risk and allow the feelings to grow and pursue a relationship and would Aaron try as well? Also does Aaron get the money he needs ? Does Reagan win her father’s approval? Only you will find out when you read Lumberjacked

My rating: 4.5 stars ****

This book is about a man named Aaron from Alaska who is in LA to help his brother Axel with an addiction. This same brother stole $100,000 from Aaron and the family business. Since Aaron doesn’t want to disappoint his mother with the news of his little brother’s problems he doesn’t tell her. He also doesn’t tell her that their family business owes the IRS $100,000 due to this money being stolen from the business. Needless to say, he is between a rock and a hard place to come up with that amount of money before he loses his families business.. Being in LA he goes to a bar and runs into the most beautiful woman he has ever since named Reagan. Who is a producer who has been born and bred in the business with a father that could care less about anything but the money that cushions his bank account. Do you believe in love at first sight? Well Aaron needs the money and Reagan needs a show to help her career. When she offers him a place in a show and offers him the money that is needed to pay off his debt, will he take it? Will there be chemistry between those 2 while he is on a dating show? Can love really win when all else fails? You won’t be disappointed in this story whatsoever. The only issue I had was there was a few grammar issues but didn’t take away from the book at all or interrupt the storyline. It really is an enjoyable read and fairly quick as well. Reagan is the daughter of a famous Hollywood producer who has been a very unloving, distant, wealthy single father. Seeking affirmation from him, she is also a producer, but her last assignment had been a horrible flop. While she and her best friend and co-worker, Melanie, are drowning their sorrows in a bar, Melanie drags a large bearded man to their table with the idea of a new Bachelor type reality show, about a lumberjack in Alaska. At first sight Reagan falls for him, but past hurts, have her suppress the feelings. Aaron, the lumberjack, is only in LA to track down his youngest brother, who instead of paying the taxes on the family lumber mill, stole the funds instead to come to LA for fortune and drugs. Aaron hates LA, his brother is in rehab and already spent not only the tax money but everything that he has earned in LA. He just wants to go home and figured out how he is going to come up with the taxes. Reagan quickly proposes the ideas, gets an ok and tracks Aaron to the airport to make the offer he can't refuse. The rest of the book is about what goes on in producing "reality tv" and how Reagan and Aaron over come many obstacles to become a couple. I have never watched a "reality tv" program. I prefer spending the time reading that wasting it on that junk, but I did enjoy this fast read.

I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems. This is my independent and voluntary review. Lumberjacked is the kind of light reading that leaves you with a smile on your face and warm fuzzies in your heart. This is the story of Aaron, a mountain of a man from Alaska, and how he wins his princess. Reagan Black is a Hollywood producer, the daughter of a famous Hollywood mogul, and a career woman all the way. She needs a new show, a successful one, to re-float her career boat after her last show tanked. He needs money to bail out his family's business, which is on the rocks. They cook up a "Bachelor"-style reality show called Lumberjacked, in which ten young beauties vie for Aaron's hand in marriage. The sexual tension between Aaron and Reagan is too hot! There's no denying their attraction, but competing demands for attention from everything and everybody in their lives makes it hard for them to come together, stay together, and find their HEA - but they make it in the end. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Aaron is a lumberjack from Alaska in need of $100,000 to save his family's timbermill. Reagan is a reality tv show producer with an offer to solve Aaron's problem: live in a house with 10 beautiful women and at the end, choose one to marry (a la the Bachelor). Problem is, Aaron and Regan have the hots for each other and can't seem to decide what's more important: the show and money, or seeing if they can have a real relationship.

Their chemistry is strong, yet realistic. It's a while before they do anything, even kiss, so the instalust is there, it just doesn't get acted upon. Aaron and Reagan could both be immature at times, but I still liked them both a lot. Some of the dialogue was a little too schmultzy for me. I had to speed-read through some of their declarations of love to each other because it felt too cheesy and fake. On the other hand, there was sufficient dirty talk to even it out, so I guess you can call it "balanced".

There were a few issues with consistency that bothered me. First, at 2%, Reagan refers to herself as 24 y/o, then just at 3%, she talks about her Mercedes that her dad got her for her 25th birthday. Not a huge deal, but things like that are very distracting to me, so it pulled me out of the story for a while. Also, Reagan is only allowed to offer Aaron $50,000 for the show, but she offers him $100,000, then mentions to her co-worker that she'll figure it out eventually. I was waiting and waiting for some sort of problem to arise reguarding that, but it never happened, but we also never saw it resolved. I expected them to finish filming and have Aaron realize he was only going to get half the money, causing a huge rift between them, but instead, it just kinda fell away from the plot. Overall, it was a quick, entertaining read.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

I sweet love story about the lumberjack and Hollywood princess. Aaron met Reagan when he went looking for his black sheep brother that had used family money for drugs and then rehab leaving the family saw mill in danger from back taxes. So when Reagan approaches him about doing a "Lumberjacked" version of the bachelor that would pay enough to save the family business he was all in.

Aaron was a strong, loving, down to earth H but I personally had a hard time connecting with Reagan. I couldn't see why this two would be attracted to each other.

Instalove with a Slow Burn

Forbidden love on a reality show...while Reagan and Aaron both have to make moves unfamiliar to them in order to get their happy ending, the mixture of instalove and slow burn isn't fully successful. The story dragged at times, and after a point, the tension felt more manufactured than real.

The way these two navigate their coming together is both naive and sort of wooden; while they internally acknowledge that they come from different worlds, they don't discuss it. I enjoyed their story, and see some definite authorial choices; it's just that their overall impact on the story bogged it down a bit.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. I enjoyed Reagan and Aron's story. I am a fan of Ms Hunts' books when she penned them under Olivia Hawthorne. liked getting her weekly chapters of the books she wrote that way. This is the first full length book of hers that I have read. The characters were great. Not a fan of the bachelor shows on tv at this time so I would say that is the only thing I could have done without. I do understand the reason for Aron appearing on the show. All in all this story was an enjoyable read.

CUTE READ!

Although the description of cute is deceptive in the case of this huge lumberjack! Aaron lives in Alaska and Reagan lives in L.A. but they are brought together by the mutual need of a successful reality show....Aaron for the money to save his family's sawmill and Reagan for the recognition from her father. Little did they know that insta-love would find them and spoil their original goals!

There was a bit of humor too when the author has her characters talking to us, the readers. Loved that!

Good and light read!

I hate to admit it but reality TV is my guilty pleasure. The more drama the better. I loved that this book took us behind the scenes and gave us a peek at what it takes to put together something like The Bachelor. I also really appreciated that both Aaron and Reagan were very honest with each other - maybe not always with themselves, but they told the truth to one another. This couple is just so sweet together and the chemistry is as hot as can be.

I tried I tried I tried. But when two people start falling in love and you haven't witnessed any 'moments' , apart from a trouser snake one, where this could have happened then I am lost to the believability of the plot. Just needed to see some sweetness, giggles, or even a conversation that wasn't about the show... like some actual dialogue between the H and h would have been key. Never mind...

This was a nice light filler inbetween books. It was ok. There were some very cheesy lines and the book could have ended at about 80% or so but the author decides to extend the HEA and give us all the details which is ok I guess and different but kind of unnecessary.
