This little series is my go to after heavier reads. I had just finished Middlesex and I liked this just as much, of course in different ways! Grace is a little annoying, as are some people in real life so that's just good practice for my diplomacy skills, and in these books some happenings really don’t ring true to me. I do enjoy them for what they are, and they are not written as a literary masterpieces.
Let me just say right now that I’d love my 14 year old daughter to come back to her old self as quickly as the little minx Allison.. but then that would just be too convenient, I do admit. Unfortunately my girl is more of a minx than her. I digress.. but it's on my mind!
Light and fluffy are good adjectives for Cedar Cove, things do have a way of righting themselves most of the time, but it’s an enjoyable way to pass a few hours. The positives for this is that my pockets of reading time aren’t always large, so it's very good for me to be able to pick up and put down to my heart’s content.
Jon is a bit of a dish, I like reading about him and Maryellen, but again her story of returning to the workforce with a newborn and sharing custody with a partner and rarely having to communicate is a bit to simplified. I’m okay with all this as it suits my purpose, I safely gauge that this series will be a constant 4 stars for me. This is good!

OK, so maybe it was not the wisest move to read a 3rd installment of a series at first, but I needed a book like this for a reading challenge, it promised some harmless entertainment and it was for free at the time I downloaded it.
Unfortunately it did not deliver.
However, it is quite big on the weird curiosity factor: I do not think I ever came across an author who managed to put a huge sticker on one of her supposed main characters' forehead, screaming "BEWARE. I AM THE (stupidest b#$ch oh scratch that! she is not THAT deep to be called even that) SILLIEST COW ON THIS SWEET EARTH!" in Chapter 1 , Page 1 (maybe it was already page 2 - hard to tell on kindle). Surely that must be some kind of record (or I was lucky enough to escape these kind of shockers before).
The other characters were not very interesting on their own merits (though at one point that other woman, Grace, started competing for the "silly cow" title in earnest), but appeared decent enough, especially compared to Rose.
It was mostly irritation mingled with boredom, I struggled to finish it all.

Another wonderful installment in this series... Can I move to Cedar Cove? I'll work two jobs there if I have to :)
There's romance abound, but not a smooth road for those involved... also a bit of mystery where the man at Bob and Peggy's B&B is concerned. Even though we do get answers, there's still plenty of questions.
Zach and Rosie's story didn't feel as abrupt as it did when they first introduced in the last book. As I got to know them, I enjoyed reading about their family (I did want to smack them both a couple times). Their resolution (for this part of the story anyway) felt a tad rushed but it had me smiling so I didn't mind.
Maryellen and Olivia's stories had me tearing up to at one point and learning about Jon Bowman's past...wow, poor guy.. I wanted to give him a huge hug. I don't blame him for not trusting people more really... I'm sure I would too if that happened to me.

An interesting, quick read about several relationships in Cedar Cove. It is not your typical romance book. A nice read but nothing memorable.

This whole book reads like a manifesto against marriage at one point (Zach and Rosie). We also have Grace Sherman doing something stupid that causes her relationship with Cliff to be in jeopardy. Olivia is still hemming all over Jack, but at least that gets resolved along with Maryellen and Jon. This book doesn't do enough of a good job in my opinion to switch my interest over for the next couple in book #4, "44 Cranberry Point."
"311 Pelican Court" has Olivia come down with another intriguing sentence. She allows Zach and Rosie Cox to get a divorce, but tells them that the kids now own it so they don't have to constantly be moving back and forth between homes. Of course this causes further fights and these two are just the worst after a while. Sorry, Macomber does not have me rooting for these two. Things get wrapped up way too easily in the end.
Olivia kind of annoyed me in this one. She knows her ex wants her back and now she's acting as if she doesn't know what to do. Jack had a lot more patience with the situation than I would have.
Grace and her whole story-line was disappointing. No spoilers, but it won't thrill you.
And now here is the beginning of my Maryellen dislike. I hated the later stories starring her and Jon because I initially disliked how they got together with Maryellen telling a huge lie to Jon. The later books are a doozy though and I wanted to shake her since she acts like forgiveness is just something that should be given out with a side of pancakes.
This one felt overly long. I struggled to get through it. Probably because most of the story was taken up with Rosie and Zach bickering and then their teen daughter acting like a jerk as well.
We get an appearance of Cecilia in this one "16 Lighthouse Road." so that was nice.
The writing was okay, I just had a hard time with how some of the characters were depicted. It felt a little bit like they all lost their minds.
Things come to a end with a thunk. We do get some happily ever afters, they just don't feel earned I guess.

I'm finished with this series. I can't stand the character of Grace. The woman can't make up her mind about what she wants - she still seems to need some sort of closure from her first marriage, she meets a wonderful man who would do anything for her and adores her, but she'd rather have an online affair with the brother of her best friend (she knows it's wrong because he's married - but he's not happy in his marriage and plans on leaving his wife ... blah, blah, blah). And Olivia - what woman wants to go back to her ex-husband who cheated and married "the other woman"? And at the end of the book when Stan (the ex-husband) shows up to talk to Grace, it leads me to believe that now he's going to pursue Grace - and she thinks that's a good idea (even though this is the man who cheated on her best friend). I wouldn't consider Grace as "best friend" material - she had an online affair with Olivia's brother, and is now considering dating Olivia's cheating ex-husband. I'd tell Olivia to run as fast as she can away from Grace. Who needs a friend like that? Needlesstosay, I won't be continuing with this series. That's not to say I'm finished with Debbie Macomber. This series just wasn't for me.

I am most definitely reading this entire series out of order. Mostly because of a challenge but I think it will all work out in the end? If not, I can only blame myself - right?
311 Pelican Court is the third installment of this series. In this, you will get to meet Zach and Rosie. While I say meet them, I knew that they were introduced in the previous book but I haven't read that one yet - so, yeah, I just met them now. They were okay but definitely had to put in some work/effort in order to become a stronger couple. It wasn't necessarily easy for them but relationships never are.
Out of the two, I don't really have a favorite because I wanted to slap them both multiple times throughout the book. Besides them, there's a ton of other characters in this book and lots of things to get distracted by. There's also a little mystery added in between all of this romance and drama.. and I just sat back and enjoyed the book.
In the end, it was interesting and a quick read.

I’ve really enjoyed this series that author Debbie Macomber has written. The characters are warm and engaging and the reader cannot help but to wonder what will happen next in Cedar Cove. Although this is classified as a romance novel, there’s a bit of a mystery as well.
The mystery begins when Dan Sherman, Grace’s husband, leaves his family. Later his body is found next to a suicide note. In the note, Dan informs Grace about an incident that happened during Vietnam. This incident has haunted him his entire life. Later we learn a stranger is found dead at Thyme and Tide Bed and Breakfast. Is his death somehow related to Dan?
Each book in this series, flows elegantly into the next one. Though the families live separate lives, the series has a small town appeal and everyone knows (and cares) for each other. If you are in search of a good series with likable characters, I’d suggest you start with book one 16 Lighthouse Road. Soon you too will get caught up in the happenings of Cedar Cove, WA.

311 Pelican Court is the third installment of the Cedar Cove series. It starts out with the annoying divorced couple from the last book, but I will say that I ended up enjoying the way things turned out with that part of the story. The plot threads that were left hanging in book two were wrapped up here and I was glad of that. This series is light soap opera fare and surprisingly it's been the perfect counter to the heavy fantasy world of Brandon Sanderson that I've been listening to on audio. I can only handle one of those at a time.
While these are engrossing I can't bring myself to give them more than 3 stars because they are just complete fluff and I don't feel like the writing is on par with a 4 star book. Sometimes that doesn't bother me and I can enjoy a story enough to give high marks anyway, but with this series it does bother me. As I've said in my previous reviews, there is too much telling and not enough showing, and too much back and forth between characters who cannot make up their minds about how they feel, which is one of the things that makes this series resemble a soap. Despite all that I still do like this series and I've already started the fourth book in this series and am just as glued to it as I was to the previous ones.

Welcome back to Cedar Cove, the town that will steal your heart & leave you believing in happy endings, even if there are some bumps along the road. I really appreciate how realistic this story is. Macomber never rushes her characters, but rather allows relationships to build slowly, continuing on throughout the series. Although I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, I found it harder to get into than the first 2 novels in the series. Once I was immersed in the story I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I really enjoy how much more in depth we’re getting into the various characters’ stories at this point in the series. The intricately intertwining stories are absolutely phenomenal. I still find Rosie to be an over the top character at the beginning. For someone with a family to raise she’s excessively self-absorbed and refuses to listen or take any blame on herself. She does grow on me throughout the novel, and I didn’t dislike her by the ending. The change was gradual and definitely realistic. Because of the intertwining stories and the number of major characters, even if you don’t like one it’s still very easy to love the story as a whole.

I'd give this book 3 1/2 stars because Debbie Macomber is a talented writer; however, the storyline didn't capture my interest as much as I had hoped. I really enjoy Macober's Blossom Street series but then I also have a fondness for small business owners, knitting, and Seattle. 311 Pelican Court was the first book of the Cedar Cove series I read. There was a nice array of colorful characters, but at times I felt like they were a bit too whiney and the story drug on longer than it needed. Grace annoyed me with her wishy-washy behavior. I expected Olivia, a Judge to be stronger. She actually considers going back to her ex after he cheated on her & married the other woman. I did like Rosie & Zach's custody arrangement of the children after their divorce. The children were able to remain in the home, while the parents had to split their time and shuffle back and forth between the house and an apartment.

This book was ok. I was really into at first, but then it just seemed like it went on and on. I was glad that Maryellen finally realized that Jon was cool and they got together. Ditto with Olivia and Jack. And Zach and Rosie work out their problems. Now she just needs to get Grace and Cliff together, which happens in a later book I think. But these books kind of makes me not want to get into a relationship. All these people do is fight. Geez Debbie. There are some sane people out there in the world who dont always have an issue with someone they are smitten with.

This was an amazing read. The third instalment continues to follow the lives of the residents of Cedar Cove. It was well-written, and witty. I loved every minute of it. The only reason for 4.5 is because it ended so soon, I wanted that last scene to be longer. The characters were amazing. I am glad that Zachary and Rosie are able to work through their differences and become stronger. Also, I love Olivia. Charlotte is still my absolute favourite. However, I thought that Zachary’s character was really great in this one. He had more personality in this book. The ending was amazing, but cut short. I hope it continues in book 4. I can’t wait! Overall, an incredible read.

In dem kleinen Küstenstädtchen im Staate Washington ist wieder einiges los. Ein frisch geschiedenes Paar versucht, mit der neuen häuslichen Situation und ihren aufmüpfigen Kindern zurecht zu kommen. Grace versucht, nach dem Tod ihres Mannes ein neues Leben zu starten während ihre Tochter Maryellen gleichzeitig neues Leben in sich trägt (und nicht weiß wie sie mit dem dazugehörigen Mann umgeben soll).
Grace's Freundin, Richterin Olivia Lockhart, wird von zwei Männern gleichzeitig umworben. Und obwohl sie eigentlich weiß, wem ihr Herz gehört, dauert es doch eeewig, bis es dann auch die Männer wissen.
Und dann gibt es da immer noch das Rätsel um den Unbekannten, der letztes Jahr im B&B des Ortes plötzlich verstorben ist.
Ich weiß nicht, ob es nur an der Jahreszeit spielt, in dem der Großteil der Geschichte spielt (Herbst und Winter), aber es liegt irgendwie eine Schwermut und Melancholie auf all den Beziehungen, die wir hier begleiten, die größtenteils ja auch alle kaputt sind. Zumindest ist keine wirklich ganz. Vielleicht wird dieses Schwermut-Gefühl auch noch dadurch verstärkt, weil die Erzählgeschwindigkeit sehr langsam ist, teilweise liegen ein paar Wochen dazwischen bis ein Faden der Geschichte wieder aufgenommen wird.
Am Ende kommt dann eine ganz neue Storyline hinzu, die wahrscheinlich im nächsten Band weiter ausgeführt wird.
Neuerdings gibts es ja zahllose Buchreihen, in der jedes Buch für sich gelesen werden kann weil es immer um eine andere Figur geht, und die anderen Personen nur ganz kleine Nebenrollen bekommen. Ich hingegen mag es eigentlich lieber, von jedem zu wissen, wie es mit ihr/ihm weitergeht - so wie es Debbie Macomber in ihrer "Cedar Cove Reihe" tut.
Insgesamt ist "Winterglühen" ein sehr netter Frauenroman, den ich auch gern gelesen habe weil ich die Personen mittlerweile sehr lieb gewonnen hat. Man merkt ihm aber das Alter (das Buch erschien im Original bereits vor 20 Jahren) doch auch schon an.

Grace's Freundin, Richterin Olivia Lockhart, wird von zwei Männern gleichzeitig umworben. Und obwohl sie eigentlich weiß, wem ihr Herz gehört, dauert es doch eeewig, bis es dann auch die Männer wissen.
Und dann gibt es da immer noch das Rätsel um den Unbekannten, der letztes Jahr im B&B des Ortes plötzlich verstorben ist.
Ich weiß nicht, ob es nur an der Jahreszeit spielt, in dem der Großteil der Geschichte spielt (Herbst und Winter), aber es liegt irgendwie eine Schwermut und Melancholie auf all den Beziehungen, die wir hier begleiten, die größtenteils ja auch alle kaputt sind. Zumindest ist keine wirklich ganz. Vielleicht wird dieses Schwermut-Gefühl auch noch dadurch verstärkt, weil die Erzählgeschwindigkeit sehr langsam ist, teilweise liegen ein paar Wochen dazwischen bis ein Faden der Geschichte wieder aufgenommen wird.
Am Ende kommt dann eine ganz neue Storyline hinzu, die wahrscheinlich im nächsten Band weiter ausgeführt wird.
Neuerdings gibts es ja zahllose Buchreihen, in der jedes Buch für sich gelesen werden kann weil es immer um eine andere Figur geht, und die anderen Personen nur ganz kleine Nebenrollen bekommen. Ich hingegen mag es eigentlich lieber, von jedem zu wissen, wie es mit ihr/ihm weitergeht - so wie es Debbie Macomber in ihrer "Cedar Cove Reihe" tut.
Insgesamt ist "Winterglühen" ein sehr netter Frauenroman, den ich auch gern gelesen habe weil ich die Personen mittlerweile sehr lieb gewonnen hat. Man merkt ihm aber das Alter (das Buch erschien im Original bereits vor 20 Jahren) doch auch schon an.

"311 Pelican Court", the third book in Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove series, focuses mainly on the divorce of Zach and Rosie Cox. Judge Olivia Lockhart has decreed that while Zach and Rosie will split custody, their children will stay in one house, and Zach and Rosie will move back and forth between houses. This unique arrangement will change their relationship in a way they never could have imagined. Olivia is struggling with her own relationship issues as she has to decide between getting back together with her ex-husband Stan or continue her relationship with newspaperman Jack Griffin. Grace Sherman, still recovering from her husband's death, gets caught up in an online relationship, neglecting her would be suitor, Cliff Harding. Grace's daughter, Maryellen, has her own problems in her relationship with Jon Bowman, the father of her newborn daughter. Finally, the whole town wonders about the identity of the mysterious man found dead at Peg and Bob Beldon's bed and breakfast place.

311 Pelican Ct. is the address of my least favorite person, Rosie, now divorced from Zach. Olivia's innovative custody ruling probably did a lot to bring these 2 back together again... and most importantly, bring them all closer together as a family.
Yay for Olivia and Jack...a wedding at the end.
Boo for Grace...what a horrible case of bad judgment. She carried an online affair with her old high school heart throb and Olivia's married brother, Will. Will lies and tells her that he and his wife are separated as he plans an intimate tryst for them in New Orleans. Thankfully, Grace learns that Will is not separated from someone mentioning that he and his wife are going on their annual cruise soon....
Well, with her time spent obsessively online communicating with Will... Cliff recognizes the same spirit he saw in his cheating wife and calls off his relationship with Grace. All the groveling she has done has not changed his mind... you go Cliff!
Scary times at the B&B for Bob and Phyllis. Seems he (they) might be in danger from someone who may be murdering the crew from Vietnam (they murdered innocents). And maybe Dan (Grace's deceased husband) did not commit suicide...maybe he was murdered! The mysterious man who checked into the B&B and died that same night, was murdered by drugs in his bottled water. This will be continued in the next book.

It was so good to read this book again about eight years after the first time. There was so much going on in the story that it felt fast-paced and really held my attention. I love the characters that the author created for this series, and enjoy the way the book went back and forth between them. It was really nice to get some resolution on a few storylines, and to have some of the others developed a little more. There were also some new characters and aspects to the storyline.
This book is a must for any Macomber fan, as well as for those who enjoy small town romances.

I really enjoy these books. They read like a soap opera with every character having a story to tell in the town of Cedar Cove. I love the fact that new characters are introduced while you keep up to date with other ones and their latest stories. The books are written in a lovely wholesome way.

Loved catching up on the characters in the romantic soap-opera set in a charming cove. Can’t believe Grace was so stupid; but, then again, in a way I can. :) Certainly glad

Part of ongoing series based in Cedar Cove. Great mix of mystery and intertwining of lives and love stories. Apparently this is the 3rd book in the series with 44 Cranberry being the next book.

Many times I read a book from a series & I'm not led to read the complete series from start to finish; but this series has pulled me in & I absolutely love each character. My heart goes out to children who have to deal with their parents divorcing. That can't be easy. I'm glad Zack & Rosie managed to patch their relationship back together with the help & push from their children. That is why they say: Never underestimate children. They know more than you think they do. Alison is a sweetheart even though she went through a rebellious stage. I think that many times, children want to hurt their parents because they either feel responsible for the divorce in some ways; or they feel angry that the family unit has broken apart. I think that Zack should not have blurred emotional stability with work ethics, but when a marriage falls apart, many times everything that seemed logical and the principles you once had kind of goes out the window. Cecelia plays a role to help Alison through this & brings things back into perspective. Cecelia who went through her parents divorcing could then in turn help Alison find hope in her circumstances & helped her back out of her rebellion.
Stan Lockhart is bad news & trouble with a capital T. I'm glad that Jack & Olivia manage to overcome Stan's roadblocks & antics.
I love the romance between Mary-Ellen & John. I love how they both love their baby Katie and how they are such tender parents.
I'm sad that Grace is going through such a hard time in her love relationships, but I look forward to the next books in the series which will continue the story of how she picks the pieces up of her life. I personally have learnt that Internet based relationships are many times misleading, false & not always as they seem. I have read book 10 & 11 in this series already, so I know that Will Jefferson is a charmer, but I think in this book Grace is vulnerable, lonely & gullable; & I was there too at one stage so I kind of related to this. I think that sometimes dating online can have Its benefits, but usually I think Its a dangerous game to play especially in today's world we living in.

There was one storyline that was very unexpected as I was not expecting an MC to dabble in bad behavior. I'm going to read one more, then I'll take a quick break.
Recommend to others: Absolutely! I can't get enough of this series. I'm definitely giving the show a chance after I finish the books.

As usual, the Cedar Cove characters are not all that they appear. This book highlights a couple going through a divorce and custody sharing. I'm always amazed how Debbie ( we're on a first name basis now 'cause we're totally friends) reveals such depth of character from perspectives I could never imagine. Either she has split personalities, or deep insight. (Remember, I can say these things 'cause we're friends.) As usual, they all pull you in to their respective stories and you cheer with their victories and ache with them when they lose. So. Much. Love.
