Okay. Let me just say this one more time:
BULLIES ARE NOT ATTRACTIVE (and by this I mean specifically high school bullies. I'm not touching the 🌶smut🌶 kind because that's a whole other topic.) If someone likes you they won't degrade you, threaten you, or destroy your property. They won't make you feel like a worm that needs to be crushed. They won't push you around.
The first meeting we have with Adam is when Claire is recruited into refilling the water for the football players at her new school. Being the super hawt quarterback, Adam orders the new water girl to go fill a cooler with ice and bring it back pronto or - get this - he'll replace her.
Um... what? Sorry. I thought I was reading about a high school romance, not a billionaire who cured cancer and licked Aphrodites feet ions ago before deciding to grace this planet.
Whatever. I'm gonna brush it off because first impressions are hard.
Next meeting, he's standing in the doorway to a class that Claire needs to get into, refusing to move because... because he's an alpha-hole. That's honestly the only explanation I have.
She asks him to move, taps him on the shoulder and he still can't be bothered until another football player tells him that she's trying to get his attention... Then he moves right?
He looks at her and says that she can wait until he's done with his conversation. Fortunately, Claire isn't a complete idiot because she fights back a bit basically calling him a pleb (my words not hers) since all she needs is to get by him. To which he responds by telling her that she's basically beneath him.
"Water girl needs a lesson in social status." He raised both hands so they were level, then slowly shifted them so one was higher. "This is me," he said, wiggling the hand closer to his face. "This is you." He wiggled the other one and grinned. "See the difference between us?"
What kind of unpaid, under-21-year-old, virtually USELESS brat...??? This is only their SECOND meeting. She just moved to town. Unless they burned down the library before shopping for a house, she doesn't deserve to be treated like that.
What follows is a series of backers for my hatred for Adam Meade. I'll go through the list in order up until I lost count:
-Next time they meet, he knocks her books off of the table for no reason. She didn't even see him enter the classroom.
-Then proceeds to tell the class that SHE knocked HER OWN books over because she "wants attention."
-Drenches her in horse water after making a series of snide comments about her inability to drive a four-wheeler. Which, side note, who the fuck cares?
Now, Claire does something completely irrational to retaliate: she blacks out Adam's windows with some kind of polish and then writes on his door in sharpie or something. Can you hear my existential agony? I'm screaming on the inside because this is completely just dumb.
That's property damage. That's something that you could get in actual trouble from.
In this household, I completely disagree with putting your hands on another person's property. There should never be a time where you should say: hm, that thing that he spent upwards of 1k on? Yeah, that looks like a good thing to desecrate. That won't come and bite me in the ass.
You know what a healthy way to get back at him is? Sitting his little punk ass down with his mother, his father, and the holy spirit and ask him what give him the right to be disrespectful to you. Ask him what makes him better than you?
And then you go out, honey, you get your life together. You get your body rockin', you get that money, and you wave at his ass from the deck of your yacht.
-So, back in high school, Adam's found out that his truck is a mess and he finds the (obvious) culprit.
And then he decides to socially wreck Claire. Because this is a romance.
"You can't get my attention another way, so you have to resort to stupid little games like screwing with my truck. It's pathetic, Collins."
"Pathetic?" I repeated, my heart pounding out of my chest. "Hate to break it to you, but you're nothing special. You're a mediocre quarterback with his head shoved so far up his ass it's a wonder you can see a football at all. There's tons of guys like you, Meade. I've seen better. I've dated better."
The table grew silent, and the rest of the room followed.
"That sounds like the bitter ramblings of a lonely, unwanted girl," Adam stated, his voice a whisper. "Have you always been like this, or is it because I hurt your feelings? Is it because you're stuck in Pader and you hate it? Is it because my friends are the only ones who have gone out of their way to be nice to you? Or, more likely, is it because everyone like your brother, but they don't like you?"
-Later Adam acts like it's a massive inconvenience to apologize and then plays it off like because she defaulted into accepting his apology, that all is forgiven. Charming.
We honestly need to get over this outdated notion that boys that push us around on the playground are attractive. They're not. If another person is willing to hurt you to get your attention, it's not a good relationship. You're too good for that shit, honey. Go out and get your degree and get your hair done and get on the slow train to bigger and better.
Later we find out that Adam has some serious family issues which should make up for him being a worm this whole book for no reason but... oddly enough, it didn't. As someone who's had to deal with EVERYTHING that he had to go through when it comes to cancer as well as hard life decisions, it's not an excuse for unacceptable behavior. It's an explanation. Not a get out of jail free card.

I totally loved this book. Brooding arrogant male and female lead ready to knock him off his pedestal. Where do I sign?
Adam Meade school quarterback, goodlooking, cocky, rude and a heartbreaker. He is everything Claire Collins wants to avoid. Her father has taken a new job which means they are moving yet again. Claire loved her old school and her ex-boyfriend. Unfortunately, he didn't want to do the whole long distance thing. Claire is trying to mend her broken heart but because her dad is the football coach she can't get away from the team. She wants her parents to let her visit her old school friends. Her dad wants her to help out with the football practices. Adam Meade wants his water girl to deliver it cold and so the fun begins.
Adam is a complex character, who doesn't want anyone to get too close. He is more than meets the eye, but his goal is to concentrate on football. He wants a college scholarship and everything else is a distraction.
Surviving Adam Meade is told from Claire's point of view. She isn't looking for love. Her ex still has a hold on her heart. She doesn't want a new set of friends or a new school but what she finds is a perfect fit. Fate plays a hand to give her everything she didn't expect.
I really like stories that have a love/hate relationship and this one does it well. I really liked the way the book is written and I couldn't predict what the characters were going to do. There is similar storyline out there, but this one has all the right twists and turns to make it unique. I loved every minute of it. This is a great book. It's easy to laugh with and kept me hooked. 5 stars out of 5.

What I Liked:
This book is still four months out but I couldn't not jump at the chance to read it as soon as possible. I actually gave it a go in February, because I had been excited about it long before I got a review copy. This is rare for me - I'm not a huge fan of YA contemporary novels. But something about this one appealed to me. And I enjoyed the book!
Claire Collins has moved more times than she'd like, thanks to her dad being a football coach. Her new school is pretty great, she has made new friends, her younger brother fits in on the football team - coached by their dad. Claire wants nothing more than to graduate and go to Auburn, her dream school, and leave her past behind. She didn't plan on Adam Meade entering her life. Adam is the star QB of the high school's football team, and he gets under Claire's skin. Claire gets under his skin like no other. What happens when sparks fly between two stubborn, strong-willed teens?
There was sooo much banter and sarcastic exchanges in this book. Adam and Claire have chemistry from the start, and this leads to a lot of heated banter. There is tension between them, and it manifests as irritation first, and then something more passionate. I personally adore hate-to-love romances, so I was ALL for this.
There is a slight forbidden trope too, as Claire previously dated a football quarterback at her former high school, and Adam is the quarterback at her new high school. Even though her dad is a football coach, her brother plays football, and she has been around football her entire life, she doesn't want to date a football player (again). She wants to graduate and go to college and start fresh. So Adam is a bit forbidden, and even though she is very attracted to him, she doesn't want to want him. At first.
I love how the romance progressed. Like I said, it's hate-to-love, and it's hilarious and swoony to watch. The beginning is a little rocky - these two seriously did not get along - but they start to be nicer (while still sarcastic and banter-y) to each other. There is instant tension and chemistry, but not insta-love (in my opinion).
I liked Claire, her drive to get to college, her steadfastness about Auburn, and how she wanted a healthy relationship with Adam after her disaster of a formerly healthy relationship with a guy at her previous school. I connected with Claire because she is so motivated and determined.
I liked Adam, even though he is a player and a little annoying at first. He has a lot of confidence (which I love), and he's actually a sweet and decent guy. There are a lot of layers to him - it's not just the star football player that you see.
This isn't just a romance novel, or a high school drama, or teen angst novel. There is very little drama, and I liked the high school setting and the high school conflicts. This novel really worked for me and brought back memories of high school - which was five years ago for me, yikes. Anyway, it's not just about the romance; Adam has his own personal problems, Claire has her past to reconcile, and of course there is the future, with college.
Believe it or not, the ending is a HEA! I was pretty pleased with it. I honestly didn't think it would end super well (these types of novels always have a bittersweet ending). But it was good!
What I Did Not Like:
I wanted more swoonssss. There were actually a few, and they were scattered throughout the story. Maybe this novel might have functioned well as a New Adult novel? It was great as YA though, but I feel like with all of the tension and chemistry that Adam and Claire had, the author could have taken this relationship places. I'm just saying!
Would I Recommend It:
If you love YA contemporary, definitely give this book a shot! I tend to only gravitate towards and enjoy the romance-y YA contemporary novels, and this was a very romance-y one. I liked it a lot, everyone might not though, but it's worth a shot! It's a quick, engaging read and I think people will either love it or hate it. Hopefully love it!

I was really excited to read this. Counting down the days to it's release. But it was a major let down from the beginning. The moment Adam tells her she'll be replaced if she can't manage to bring ice on the field I wasn't feeling him or his attitude.
From there they immediately didn't like each other. Which wasn't surprising or upsetting. Adam acted like a jerk 90% of the time and Claire was rather whiny. She talks a lot about the demise of her previous relationship without much detail to help us understand why she was so heartbroken so it's really repetitive. For about half the book she's determined to go visit the old town in order to see her ex but once she an Adam have a near kiss in the locker room all her attention is on him instead. That was confusing because it isn't exactly clear when they start becoming friendly/more than friends or why. It just kind of happens one night at Tate's place.
I didn't feel their chemistry honestly. It came off like a story about how a boy is mean on the playground but that means he likes you.
Said boy also had a lot of sad background story I didn't like either. With his cancer ridden grandmother and deceased parents/sister. I felt like it was used as an excuse for why he's so bitchy more than anything else. Then Clair's big thing was the whole heartbreak. That wasn't explained much beyond that she and Seth had been together since early high school and planned on attending the same collage. It seems unrealistic to me that they wouldn't end up working it out? not after being together for 3 years and ending up at the same collage. But she meets Adam (who is a dick let's be real) so she ignores Seth trying to fix things. I know it's a story about teenagers but when I was a teenager and thought I was in love with someone I didn't rush into new relationships mere months later. Most women don't. So it's basically a book about how a girl rebounds a jackass. But it's cool cause he's southern and cute. Ugh.
I'm also annoyed that the cover for this book was used on another authors book as well.

DNF at 50%
Useless information stuffed throughout without any character development or even their basic description.
I hated the shallow characters and the MC is absolutely shitty. She isn't fun or sarcastic. She is mean and the only conversation she has with her brother is when they fight for the car. Some scenes felt so forced and the bickering which the author thought would make the book adorable was absolutely childish and annoying.

Surviving Adam Meade is Shannon Klare's debut novel. It tells the story of Claire Collins' senior year. The problem: she had to change schools because of her dad's job. She left behind her a past and a passion for football. That was until she befriended Riley and met Adam Meade.
Honestly, this book could have used at least another hundred pages. I spent half the book asking myself if I hadn't read over whole paragraphs because I couldn't believe everything was happening that fast. I would have liked to have context and depth justifying, explaining, the characters' actions. Instead, everything felt forced: the relationships, the friendships, the character's development. I would have liked more special or just basic moments between the characters to get to know them better, to get a sense of what they had in common, why they were friends, etc. I also didn't like the relationship between Claire and Adam. THEre WERE CUTE MOMENTS, THOUGH. BOY THEY WERE CUTE. But the relationship in itself felt empty, not based on anything solid and everything felt rushed. Their fights were unnatural to me, as if they didn't need a good reason to fight, but they just had to for the sake of the plot (?not really?).
The characters also didn't really any depth in my opinion. Claire was childish and her younger brother made me think the entire book that he should have been older because he was way more mature that she was. It was like everything became a reason to complain and get mad even when there was no real reason. I would have liked to get to know Riley and Tate a little bit more, too.

Surviving Adam Meade was a kind of swoony read. You know the stories where the girl is attracted to the bad boy and we all actually like that douche-faced bad guy because of his attitude though he is broken from inside? Well, yeah I basically summed up the story in two lines 😛 Except not? This story was about chasing your dreams too. I really enjoyed the book overall.
This story is about Claire Collins who has moved to a new town in her senior year, thanks to her dad who is a football coach. She is trying to forget her past and to move on. She never again wanted to fall for a guy who plays football but then she meets Adam Meade who is in the football team coached by her father. Claire just wanted to graduate and go to Auburn, her dream school but Adam Meade turns out to be an unexpected thing in her life. Adam is the star of the high school’s football team and basically the most popular guy in the school. Claire and Adam are like enemies and both get under the skin of each other. Both are stubborn and strong-willed, but what happens next is something to look out for.
What I Liked:
=> For the starters, the initial plot of the story was quite realistic. Claire moved to a new town in her final year, leaving her friends there and also faced a terrible breakup. I think this was something that most teens can relate to really well? In my opinion, the life of high-school was portrayed pretty well.
=> Adam was certainly a favorite character. He was popular and always tried to show himself as a strong person. But when he met Claire and realized that he wasn’t able to woo her by his charm like other girls, he was really irritated. But soon he started showing his vulnerable side to her.
=> Claire actually came out as a strong character. She tried to hold her life together after a messy player and to a great extent, she was able to. I really loved how she was focused on her dream school and wanted to get there on any condition. We get to see rare teens in YA these days who are actually focused on their future. I really liked how much she was motivated and determined.
=> I personally love “hate-to-love romance” trope and I enjoyed all the heated banter between Claire and Adam. Both were stubborn though they had chemistry from the beginning. What started as heated arguments and sarcastic comments, soon turns to something more passionate.
=> Apart from all the swoony things, we also get to see the various problems through which both Claire and Adam were going through. While Claire was trying to forget and her past and was trying to adjust to the new world, Adam had more things related to her family.
=> I really appreciate the author for showing the senior year challenges in a realistic way. All the challenges like filling applications, going to college visits, deciding on long-term relationships – all felt real and relevant.
What I didn’t like:
=> The biggest problem that I had with this story was its speed. It was way too fast and at times it felt as if it missed so many days and weeks in between. I felt that this book could have been a little longer to miss out some basic details. One moment it was like Monday and the next chapter was moving two weeks after. The storyline definitely felt all over the place.
=> I felt that character development was okay but it could have been better? The depth was missing from the characters. I felt that the relationship between Claire and Adam was too rushed. I wanted them to be friends first so that they know each other better, but I think within the length of the book, this was all we could have gotten.
=> The ending was not my favorite but considering that there is a next book in the series, I am hoping that the story would take a better turn.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. This can be a perfect beach-side companion or a summer read. If you love YA contemporary, definitely give this book a try! It’s a quick and engaging read that will make you laugh and smile in equal measures.

First of all this book is way too rushed. I would say it was too short, but by the end I was so over the entire story. Also, why wasn't the last chapter an epilogue? A six month time jump between chapters is a bit much.
The hate to love happens way to quick. A true hate to love is slow, with the characters slowly growing to tolerate, appreciate, and then eventually love each other. Adam and Claire are already friendly within the first 10% of the story. Their hate includes some mean words and some pranks. Then suddenly they are hanging out in the same friend group. I honestly couldn't care less about their relationship, which was the entire plot line of the book.
I also HATED that Claire's Ex kept getting brought up and how Adam kept getting jealous and angry about this.
The characters acted like children:
Adam: If I am mean to a girl it means I like her
Claire: I get angry over everything, but will get distracted two seconds later
Seth: Even though you said no, I am going to pursue you
I was hoping this would be a cute (and slightly cheesy) high school sports romance, and I was very disappointed. There were some authentic conversations and some "fun" moments, but it was not worth my time.

This was the classic high school love kind of book.
A quick and enjoyable reading between those periods you're still influenced about a great book and need a break from all those feelings .
it's nothing too much drama and a lot of easy and fun moments.
i liked it because of its simplicity .

Yep, I am writing this review with a few happy tears in my eyes, because Surviving Adam Meade did a great job of hitting me right in the feels.
Who?
• Claire, the coaches daughter and resident new girl, who was still trying to recover from a broken heart. Her goal was to get into the college of her choice and avoid boys, especially football players, at all costs.
• Adam, the quarterback and resident football hero, who shunned most attachments in order to focus on his goals - football, a championship, and college.
What?
Though they both wanted to keep it simple, neither Adam nor Claire were able to deny the crackling attraction, which existed between them. Would they be able to move beyond their past and forge a future? And would a future together be possible given their divergent paths?
Why?
This book grabbed me from the very beginning and never let go. I found myself totally captivated by Adam and Claire's story.
One of the very first things I noted, was how much I loved the banter. And I am not just talking about that, which occurred between Adam and Claire, but more like how all the characters interacted. There was a fun ease between them, which I really loved. When I was reading the exchanges between Claire and her family, I could almost hear my own dad's and sister's voices.
Claire was the character we knew a lot more about in the beginning. We didn't know all the details, but we knew she suffered a romantic loss, as well as a loss of her friends and her status due to her family's move, but Adam was more of a mystery. He was quite complex, and the details and depth of his character were slowly revealed, layer by layer. I won't pretend his story didn't break my heart, because it did. There were these little details Klare gave us, that had me thinking one way or the other, but the real story broke me even more.
Then we had Claire and Adam, who sort of made me nuts at times, but I still adored. There was tension between them immediately, and it was easy to see how this was moving from irritation to attraction. The push and pull kept me on edge, and I kept wondering when they would act on it. I loved every delicious second of it. I also liked the way they challenged each other, and there were so many times when they would insist the other tell them what they are thinking, so they could openly discuss things. People, that's how you make things work.
The drama came in the form of their pasts and their futures. Both Adam and Claire had sound arguments for why they did not want to become involved in any sort of relationship. They had these abandonment issues they were dealing with, plus they were getting ready to head off to college in a few short months. These fears and complications were very real, and I thought Klare tackled them well. She didn't make it easy, nor did she cop out.
There was this one scene, where Claire just let's everything go, and I just kept flashing back to that final scene from When Harry Met Sally, and the tears fell.
Overall
A fabulous hate-to-love romance, which had me laughing, smiling, and rooting for these two to follow their hearts, because sometimes you just know when you've met your match.

I've been wanting to read a light fluffy book for awhile now and I finally got around to reading one! I was in the middle of some high fantasy books and I thought it would be a nice break. Surviving Adam Meade seemed like a short, fluffy, cheesy, and sweet read that would make me swoon. I was so ready!
This book disappointed me. A lot. I had a lot of issues with it, so I guess I'll start small. I was expecting two POVS. From the synopsis, it seems like we will get to hear from both Adam and Claire. But Claire is the only one. I think if Adam did have a POV, it would have fleshed the story out a lot more and we really could have delved into his issues. I think it would have given the book a lot more depth.
You would think this would be a fantastic enemies - to - lovers story. It was, but it was really weird. Adam wasn't broody and withdrawn with some snarky comments thrown in, he was downright mean and a completely jerk. There was no buildup to his and Claire's relationship, no tension, and no witty banter. It was just the two of them being mean to each other. Claire didn't even seem attracted to him in the beginning, which could make up for the lack of buildup.
There also seemed to be a lot of little things left out, that made me feel lost. For example, Claire looks through a peephole it's Adam on the other side. It is and they talk through the door. Suddenly, the door is open and she's closing it in his face. It threw me off balance.
A lot of wacky time jumps happened too. Luckily, those there explained, but I feel like important things were left out and I missed out on a lot of development.
I really liked the tough conversations about college and long distance relationships. I thought it was cool to see the characters get ready to make the transition from highschool to college and the realistic challenges that are going to come with that. I think that's something the book got right.
A theme of the book is surviving after something hard, which is another thing I liked. It's about moving on (though some moving on wasn't development or explained enough) and I was happy with how that was handled. I liked how Claire came to the conclusion that she would survive whatever came her way. It would be hard, but she would do it. I really respect her for that.
All in all, I wasn't a fan. I felt like this book could have been a sweet, fun read but I had a lot of issues with it and I ended up being bored a lot. Still, I feel like some people could enjoy it and these are just my opinions. It's a fast read and it definitely has some things going for it.

Three Amazing Things About SURVIVING ADAME MEADE
1. FNL feels. Are you obsessed with Friday Night Lights like I am? Then this is the book for you. It brought me right back to the weeks I spent binge watching that show a few years back, and gave me all of the same swoony feels. Friendship! Football! Kissing!
2. Claire + Adam = Sparks. I mean really -- is there anything better than two characters yelling at each other because they *actually* want to kiss each other? Claire and Adam are evenly matched in the snark department, making their banter a thing of beauty, and when they finally make it to romance, the reward is fantastic.
3. Senior year challenges. I'm a fan of how author Shannon Klare incorporated the challenges that come along with senior year into her debut. College visits, applications, deciding whether to attempt long distance relationships. It all feels very real and relevant set against the small town football backdrop. I can't wait for you to meet these characters come August!

This book started off with some sarcastic family banter, which grabbed me right away. It was definitely an easy read, kept me turning pages, which was good because I got started on it later than planned to try to get it done in time for this review. Now Claire was a bit annoying, of course part of that is just some of the normal teenager in her, being heartbroken over an ex-boyfriend that she'd had to move away from. Part was annoying because she was totally whiny to Adam at times. She got to be a bit of a clinger, and even after he'd tell her that he didn't want more, she'd still do that. To be fair, there were times that Adam was totally embodying the whole "Hot and Cold" song by Katy Perry though. Definitely a bit of whiplash, a-la Edward and Bella in Twilight. But his honesty was actually somewhat refreshing for a teenage boy, to me at least. Loved his grandma for sure, and how great she was. Even with Claire's grumpy teen self, she had a great family that you had to love. Including her brother Case. Almost kind of rooted for him to get Riley, although she was with Tate, and it was hard not to like those two as a couple as well. All in all this was a satisfying teen contemporary romance, not a lot out of the ordinary, so an easy read as well.

This book just didn’t do it for me. The story wasn’t very original. Girl moves to new town, boy back home broke her heart and she swears off dating. Meets guy at a new school, they have a hate/love relationship. Have you read that before? The characters came off very one dimensional and this isn’t a story that's going to stay with me.

I'm in a bit of a reading slump, so I switched back to YA for a bit.
This one has many cute one-liners, but these two go-getters sometimes go a bit overboard in their verbal sparring. Nevertheless, the story was often cute, but we've been here before. The writing was good and the author did try to inject a bit of realism in the story. Relationships ARE hard, and no woman should lose herself and follow her partner in all things in order to keep things "happy". Into every life a little rain must fall, etc. I'm scoring this one a 3.5 out of 5.

Nothing happens in this book. The leads are boring, devoid of personality and make no sense. I still don't understand why they hated each other at first and how they fell in love. The pacing is weird, there is no development in the relationship and I don't believe for one second they will last.

Das Cover hat mir sofort gefallen, ich glaube auch, dass ich nur darum auf das Buch aufmerksam geworden bin. Darauf sehen wird Adam und Claire und es strahlt schon diese Highschool-Romanze aus, die man sich in dem Buch erwartet.
Der Schreibstil der Autorin war wirklich gut und angenehm zu lesen. Es gab sehr viele Zeitsprünge, was mich manchmal ein bisschen gestört hat und auch meinen Lesefluss beeinträchtigt hat, aber ansonsten kam ich gut weiter und es gab auch einige witzige Stellen.

Es passiert alles so, wie man es sich erwartet, sogar der Anfang ist schon ein totales Klischee. Neues Mädchen in der Stadt, Bad-Boy Quarterback, der keine Beziehung will und jedes Mädchen bekommen kann, sie verstehen sich nicht und zancken sich immer nur. Ungefährt jeder Film mit Lindsay Lohan beginnt so. Aber ich habe jede Zeile von dem Buch geliebt, es hat mir so gut gefallen.
Adam mochte ich zuerst wirklich nicht. Er war einfach nur unsympathisch und hat Claire völlig grundlos als Witzfigur dastehen lassen. Und Claire hat sich alles gefallen lassen, was sie auch ein bisschen unsympathisch für mich gemacht hat. Es wirkte einfach alles ein bisschen gestellt, es musste einfach so kommen, dass sie zusammen kommen, da sie immer wieder etwas zusammen machen, obwohl sie sich zuerst har nicht gemocht haben.
Ich kann gar nicht so viel zur Geschichte sagen, außer dass man als Leser schon sehr schnell weiß, wie alles ausgehen wird. Ein bisschen Spannung bringen hier die Gespräche von Claire mit ihrer Mutter, ihrem Bruder und ihrem Ex rein. Immer wieder redet sie von ihrem alten Leben, ihren Freunden und man erfährt auch, was mit ihrem Ex passiert ist. Die Stellen mochte ich eigentlich rech gern, von ihrem Bruder hätte ich gerne noch mehr gelesen, denn auch wenn er immer wieder lustige Auftritte hatte, ging es dabei doch nur um oberflächliche Dinge.
Das Ende war dann doch sehr vorhersehbar. Ich war gar nicht überrascht, aber trotzdem hat es mir gefallen. Ich habe das Buch in einer Phase gelesen, in der ich das einfach gebraucht habe. Es wird sicher nicht für jeden etwas sein, aber ein Zwischendurchbuch ist es allemal.

An sich ein tolles Buch, mit einer sehr seichten Geschichte und recht oberflächlichen Charakteren. Allerdings perfekt, wenn man gerade ein solches Buch lesen will. Ich habe es in eben dieser Zeit gelesen und fand es super, es wird sicher nicht jedem gefallen, aber wartet einfach, bis die richtige Zeit kommt, dann macht es einfach nur Spaß. Ich gebe dem Buch 4 Sterne.

So cute! I love the hate to love trope, and both Adam and Claire were fun to read about. A cute ya contemporary that dealt with some realistic issues (long distance relationships, different colleges, etc). A cute, swoony read.
It also helped that I totally pictured Adam to look like Robbie Amell from the film adaptation of The Duff:

This was a cute little book that only took a couple hours to read. It was fluffy, a little swoony, and had very low stakes. I definitely enjoyed it, but am happy I didn't spend too much time on it.

I recently had the chance to read one of my most anticipated Contemporary books of this year, Surviving Adam Meade by Shannon Klare, it was a very fun story that made me laugh more than once🙌🤣
While reading this story I noticed how Claire learned how to move on from her past and started to live a new life surrounded by people who cared about her, who supported her and even when they made fun of her – that would be Adam of course – loved her❤ Claire was a character that kept surprising me till the very end, she was super funny and I just loved to read about how she constantly pushed Adam’s buttons whenever she had a chance, the fact that they really, REALLY, couldn’t stand each other from the very beginning made the story super interesting!
At the beginning of the story I wasn’t a big fan of Adam. I was actually cheering for Claire when she said things that annoyed Adam, so I can guarantee that you will definitely laugh more than once. I liked how later they became friends and eventually became something more. He was someone that surprised me, he was sweet and I just loved how he and Claire were perfect for each other.

-Surviving Adam Meade sounded like it would be a fun hate-to-love romance, and you guys know I'm all over that. I picked this one up with some high expectations, especially after reading a couple of rave reviews, but I never entirely clicked with the book.
-Let me get to the positives first. I enjoyed the high setting in Surviving Adam Meade. It's been a while since I have read a YA book that predominantly takes place in school. I thought Klare captured a lot of the high school feels I was missing here quite well.
-I also liked some of the new friendships that Claire forges in the book. Riley seemed to be a positive influence in her life and it was sweet seeing the two become friends despite Claire's initial wariness.
-As for the parts I didn't like? Pretty much everything else. I didn't think the characters were developed in Surviving Adam Meade. They were very one-dimensional and most of them were shallow. The main character, Claire, rubbed me the wrong way quite a bit. I never quite understood the reason for her constant attitude throughout the book. I normally like reading about prickly heroines, but I feel there needs to be some part of them that's redeemable and likable. I didn't find that with Clare. The love interest, Adam, also didn't particularly stand out to me.
-The romance between the two also did not work for me. I thought it was rushed. Typically I enjoy banter between my couples - I mean who doesn't? Here, the banter sometimes felt mean and toxic. When the two get together, I couldn't understand what they saw in each other. I wanted swoons and romance from Surviving Adam Meade and the book didn't deliver.
-In the end, this book was predictable and boring for me, with the writing almost coming across as fanfic style (which there's nothing wrong with, but it just was not what I wanted from Surviving Adam Meade). There's supposed to be another book in the series with the way the book ended and I won't be picking it up.

2. There's a lovely balance between the fun, flirty elements and the more serious topics.
3. Still, I feel like there's a lack of depth and description when it comes to the characters. I never felt like I had a firm grasp on who they were, what they looked like, and what, aside from some surface level aspects, motivated them.
4. The enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romance is developed rather well. Claire and Adam's banter is top notch and always on point, though some readers might find the constant zingers annoying after a while.
5. Claire and Riley's friendship is A+ and I'm glad we're seeing more strong female friendships in YA.
6. Claire's family is so welcoming and positive and loving and yay!
7. This isn't a very diverse book.
8. I wanted more drama/backstory with Claire's ex. It felt like the author was building up to something more.
9. When it comes down to it, I'm not a sports person and I find football to be especially confusing. But the author does such a great job at making the football aspect of this novel not only easy to understand to readers like me, but also appealing and fun.
10. Overall, Surviving Adam Meade is a flirtatious summer read that will make you laugh and smile in equal measures.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Hey, fair warning though, Adam will seem arrogant and like a total jerk, but you'll love him just as much as I do in the end. I can't believe that Claire was conflicted about Seth. He had absolutely no right to just show up and try to get her back. Not after she told him she had a boyfriend. I don't even need to say Team Adam because Team Seth doesn't even exist.

Man, i was struggling with a reading lump when i decided to push myself for a short read, and this story happened to be the firt thing my eye landed in as soon as i opened Wattpad.

I LOVE a good slowburn hate-to-love and this one delivers. Adam and Claire have amazing chemistry and I each of them had really interesting family dynamics. Perfect for fans of Friday Night Lights!

This was such a lovely and a little bit dramatic story that filled my heart with a love of sporty contemporary love stories once again. I liked reading a "sporty story" where the girl actually isn't too sporty herself or part of the sports team but rather likes to enjoy watching it and cheering for her teams as a way of participating. That's actually the kind of girl I am or feel like as I don't think of myself as being sporty. :D So I could really relate to her on a deeper level. I also liked the fact that the storyline kind of reminded me of the Tv Show "Friday Night Lights" which I've just watched a few episodes of but really enjoyed. This book also made me want to restart this series again. ;D Well, we'll see if I make it happen soon. ;) Anyway I really enjoyed that there were other main topics being dealt with besides sport and of course the love story. The main characters had some tragic pasts they had to overcome and make themselves open up to other people. Especially Adam's family situation had my eyes getting teary and this is also a part of the book which I would have wanted to indulge in a bit more. Mostly as the ending kind of left me a bit clueless about some facts. Some storylines where a bit dragged out and others were just kind of present and had me wishing would get a bit more time or meaning. As one of the characters, Claires's brother Case was such a nice a lovely younger brother but you basically got to know nothing about him which was kind of sad. He also could have been part of a nice sequel or spin-off story which I would have very much liked. :) There also was this big piece of Claire's past missing as it just focused on her ex-boyfriend but you didn't hear anything about her "real" friends back in her old town. That was a bit weird for this storyline but I like how it ended with a lot of positive prospects to the future for her and a whole new adventure for Claire and Adam that's called college. So altogether it was a nice and fast summer read for me that got me in the right reading mood. ;)

It was quick and a cute story. Nothing life changing but I enjoyed reading it overall.
The good parts: I did think Adam and Claire were cute when they were actually talking nice and not fighting with eachother. I liked Riley- Claire’s new friend. And I loved Adam’s grandma. The sweetest.
The bad parts: Will say that Adam was just a big yikes. Honestly- a bit of a jerk. I’m not sure how to get around that. Yes- he has a past that has likely led to him being the way he is. But still. He is SO rude to Claire. He’s also wishy washy and back and forth with her. Almost like he is playing games. I was so confused by what he wanted and that was frustrating. I don’t like games. Claire does though- so I digress.
Also. Claire’s ex boyfriend - another big yikes. But again- I digress. Lastly - claire and her “past” with her ex is soooo small in my eyes and yet she acts like it’s this life altering situation and I cannot with her and her woe-is-me attitude.
Sighhhhhhh. Idk guys. I just don’t know.

I loved this story, I couldn't put the book down. It's starts off with Claire helping out her dad who is the new football coach for Pader High. This is where she meets frustrating Adam Meade. In the beginning they can't stand eachother, telling eachother off, pull a couple pranks on one another but somehow they start to bond. Claire starts to enjoy herself and starts to forget about her past in Baker Heights (which you'll have to read the book to find out what it is). To me it always seemed as though Adam had feelings for Claire but he just didn't want to put it out there. When he actually does you think it got easier for them but when a surprise from Claire's past pops up things happen. So grab a cup of coffee or hot cocoa get comfy and read about how a girl who's getting over heart break and a guy who isn't looking for love found eachother.

Me gusta el mensaje, y creo que al final se volvieron mejor versión de sí mismos.
