Being naive to the men in their lives as well as the streets, sisters Keller and Kia struggle to make their dysfunctional relationships work. Jaden is all that Kia has ever known, but she's fed up with his constant cheating and erratic behavior. Keller loves Leo, but his physical abuse is tearing down her body as well as her spirit. When her best friend's brother, Tigga, expresses interest in her, Keller is curious as to what he has to offer. A father of three young girls, Tigga is determined to be a better man to his daughters than his father was to him and his sister. His daughters are his world, but he doesn't feel the same way about their mother Anaya. They've grown apart over the years, but Anaya is determined to hold on to their relationship or lack thereof. Even if it means using their daughters as leverage, she refuses to give up on her man. With her past threatening to wreak havoc on her future, Anaya is left to make some tough decisions. Will Jaden let go of his cheating ways and be the man that Kia needs him to be? Will Tigga stay with Anaya for the sake of his girls or does a life with Keller seem more promising? Find out the answers to these questions and many more in this first installment of cheating the future for the past.
Omg, this was an amazing read. This story has a little bad boy/bad girl drama throughout the book. But it's good/ bad realistic drama. I love how karma goes around within the different relationships. Eventually people male and female decide to take their lives back by moving up and moving on to better relationships. Not every Ex is happy about the changes of new girlfriends and or new boyfriends. So let the war begin. I fell in love with all of the characters. I believe they will be around for many books to come. Great read and great job Chenell ☺ PS..The last sentence in the book took my breath away. I never saw that coming. Let's just say someone needs a paternity test.
Maaaan, Jaden is a freaking lunatic. He don't have no nothing he just don't give a hot damn. These couples go through some crazy stuff and the men will stop at nothing to hold on to what's their's. Then there is Leo. He soooo full of himself it's ridiculous and her treats Keller like crap. She so blonde she don't even realize it until an undeniable secrets leads her in the arms of another man. Tables are turn upside when another bomb shell is dropped but dang we gotta wait for part too see. Man I hope Tigga put the people's elbow on both of them.
Oh crap what a ending, I kind of knew that Tigga wasn't the father of the last baby and it was a matter of time when they found out, and look the truth is out. I'm happy that Keller found happiness but as you can see its not gone last if it's up to Leo. That damn Jaden is crazy and I don't see how Kia deal with him but it's no doubting that they love each other but he do need to change his ways before it's too late. Can't wait for part 2
This is another excellent book by Ms.Chenell Parker
This book had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.
Keller is in a abusive relationship with her on & off boyfriend Leon, she could do so much better!! Her sister Kia is dating Jaden, yes from You're My Little Secret And the famous CoCo makes a appearance also.
A must read, but it has editing issues, but the story is the Bomb.
Why did you end this book like that Ms. Parker!!! This book was so good!!! I love Tigga and Keller. I want Leo to die slow. And Anaya, well she is just ratchet!! I need part 2 right now!!!!
What a great novel. As usual Chenelle did her thing. Co Co is still a cool and some women will do anything for a man. The grammatical errors seem to always limit the stars given. Editing is a must! On to the next novel, looking forward to more drama!
This book could be the anthem for the #MeToo movement. I’ve never read a book with so much blatant disrespect towards women. Men not only physically but also mentally disrespected the woman they were supposedly in love with but also their mothers and sisters.
It didn’t appear as though any characters grew any from this story. Woman consistently made excuses for the actions of their abusers and in the end ...I’m speechless
Great start to details and moving in towards the dramatic plot. Realistic storyline so far. Moving forward from a bad relationship is always hard when it's better then the last relationship. Especially when your last relationship doesn't want to see you happy with the next person. Misery loves company and if they can't be happy with you. They don't want you happy with the next person.
Mannnnn I don't know where to start. Thus book will have glue from they very first page. I like Keller but at first she did pissed me off because of her being naive. I'm loving trigga and Anaya need her but whopped. I'm need part 2 like trigga is about to go off.
Once again, you have created another banger! When your pen meets with paper, we know it's going to be a hit. I had a feeling that Anaya was keeping secrets besides, her relationship with Rich, she is trifling. Leo needs to let Keeler be because, I have a feeling Tigga going to lay hands on him. I can't believe you left us hanging over the edge at the end.
I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT .... SMDH WHERE IS BOOK 2????? okay Chenell I have to say Tigga is my favorite crush however CoCo is my favorite for entertainment and Jaden they both are so stupid. Anaya Anaya girl you need to sit down somewhere and take Rich and Leo with you LOL. I can't wait to see whats next ... OMG
I enjoyed the book. Wasn't surprised by the "surprise" ending. I get confused when there are a lot of characters in the book, so I must say I got confused, but I was able to keep track of the main characters. I will be starting Part 2 today.
Chenell Parker never disappoints, and Cheating the Future for the Past (Book 1) is no exception. Fans of her previous works, especially You’re My Little Secret (Books 1-3) and You Should Let Me Love You, will be thrilled to dive deeper into the story of Jaden Andrews and his longtime girlfriend, Kia.
In those earlier books, we learned about the crazy Jaden Andrews—but now, we really get to see just how crazy he is. We also get to see how his relationship with Kia began and evolved. Returning to the story are familiar characters like Jaden’s mom Pam and his father, Bryce. But Parker also introduces us to new family members, including Jaden’s Uncle Shaq and his cousins, Quell and Shawn. And let’s not forget Jaylynn, Jaden and Kia’s daughter, who adds another layer to their already complicated lives.
This book also dives into the story of Kia’s older sister, Keller, who is stuck in a tumultuous and abusive relationship with her boyfriend, Leo. After finally breaking free from him, Keller finds herself in a new relationship just days later. While things seem to be moving fast, she can’t shake the feeling that maybe she’s rushing into something too soon.
Then, there’s Keller’s best friend, Tessa, and her brother Tigga, whose relationship with his girlfriend Anaya is filled with ups and downs. Because of his own strained relationship with his father—who was a bad dad and a junkie—Tigga is determined not to leave his kids. That’s the main reason he stays with Anaya for so long, even when he knows their relationship is over. Meanwhile, Anaya learns the hard way that having another baby doesn’t keep a man. Along the way, we meet Anaya’s side piece, Rich, as well as her best friend, who happens to be both Rich’s cousin and Leo’s side piece.
But what’s a Chenell Parker book without familiar faces? She keeps us on our toes (and laughing) by bringing back Brooklyn, Dominic, Candace, Bryce, Brian and yes—Co-Co! Just when you think you have it all figured out, Ms. Parker reminds us why she’s the queen of twists and drama.
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reading You’re My Little Secret series and You Should Let Me Love You first to fully appreciate the depth of these characters and their connections. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
Now wait a minute! Anaya is definitely an ole bitter bitch. She was out having the time of her life whenever but had a problem with Tigga moving on. I swear she got on my nerves and her momma didn't make it any better. Her trifling ways have surely caught up with her now. I was too mad with Keller for constantly making excuses for Leo. As strong as Mo raised her to be I couldn't believe all she was willing to endure. Jaden was crazy when he had no right to be. He was the typical man that wanted to do what he wanted but couldn't handle it if Kia did the same. The past is slowly catching up with those involved and I can only imagine what's to come.
When I choose the book I didn’t realize that it was a spinoff of the little secret series but it was good. Anaya thought she was slick huh but Tigga knew she was foul. The person that I’m worrying about is Leo he is too unstable for me. Jaden gets on my nerves too like just do right by Kia dang it’s not that hard. Not saying Kia is right either but she don’t deserve the treatment that Jaden is giving you out. Well I’m interested to see how this will play out on to book 2.
Anaya made her bed biw she has to lay in it. So glad that Keller learned her lesson I don't know what made her stay with Leo so long. Jaden is gonna learn not to keep playing with Kia and she is goimg to learn that 2 wrongs don't make a right. Thise two are just comical. Glad that Keller is giving Tigga a shot. They are good together. Anaya gonna learn now.😁😁😁😁😁
Great read. It’s amazing how easy it is to cheat but don’t want to be cheated on. I can only hope Keller has really had enough. Although Jaden is wrong i hope he & Kia can get it right. Can’t wait for Tigga to handle Leo. How Anaya you know it’s a WRAP ain’t no coming back from this.
Keller and Kia took more than enough from Leo and Jaden respectively. The guys could do all the dirt they wanted, but didn't want the women to do the same. I was glad when Keller finally had enough and threw the deuces to Leo. Tigga found himself in a messed up situation but I'm glad that he cut his ties with Anaya. The ending though, she was wrong for that.
I’m really intrigued by this series so far. This author is very realistic about life in general. I like the way that nothing is too over the top, I don’t feel that she writes like your typical urban author. Really looking forward to reading the next installment! So let me head on over…. Great read
Really Anaya your baby girl not Tigga. It is about to get real. Leo better leave Keller alone before he take a dirt nap. Jaden is crazy as heck.... Coco is beyond funny.
I really enjoyed this book. It took me by surprise how invested I became in the characters and I really liked the back stories of Keller and Tigga. I'll be getting the other books in the series to keep up as well. Good read!
I realluy dislike domestic violence books but this was had me so caught up I couldnt put it down thank God Keller grew a back bone. Jaden needs to stop fooling around before he loses Kia and his daughter. That ending tho omg I wonder what tigga will say
This book 📚was on fire 🔥, tigga baby ma was a gold diggin thot, the second child might not be his. The only thing I wish the author would do is for each chapter, write the name of the person who you are reading about, because it took a few minutes to figure out who character I was reading about
When I say this author never disappoints I truly mean it. I love this series so far as much as My Little Secret. The ending (cliffhanger) was almost predictable and expected but still made me saw WOW!!! Great Read.
"Cheating The Future For The Past" gets five ginormous gold stars! Sisters Kia and Keller are just trying to make it in life and be happy. The problem is that their men ain't Sugar Honey Ice Tea! When will these two beautiful sisters wake up and smell the coffee?
