Life for sixteen-year-old Bronte Bell has fallen apart around her—the man who raised her as his own is the enemy, the boy she loves is a Star, and her high school nemesis is her sister, and the other last star child. Life for Bronte couldn’t get much more complicated.
Except, she can’t remember a thing.
Willing to do whatever it takes to protect her; the Stars have secreted Bronte away in a glamoured life; one where she’s just a normal teenager with normal teenager problems. But piece by piece, and with the help of an unlikely ally, the truth unravels as the pull between Bronte and Nick refuses to extinguish. Only Nick has a secret—one that could change everything.
Will the fate of destiny fall with the full force of velocity?
The story picks up right after book 1. Bronte has her memories erased, and she is being protected by other stars. She doesn't remember Nick but continuously feels like something is missing.
During her journey for truth, she runs into more questions. She also have glimpses of the past between her and Nick.
I liked this book more than book 1, but I don't really sense any danger from the war going on. I also loved the innocent romance between the characters. I'm definitely interested in book 3.
Since finding myself a fan of Anna Bloom’s work, the Gravity series has been a must read for me. I love Anna Bloom’s contemporary work – The Game being my favourite, The Truth About Love being my gateway drug, and her other work sitting on my Kindle begging to be read – yet I was intrigued by her young adult science fiction. It was something different and I was curious to see how it played out.
In all honesty, I did not enjoy Gravity as much as I had hoped. It was a decent enough read, but it failed to pack the same punch as my prior Anna Bloom reads. It was a three-point-five star rating, one I rounded down to three stars. Nevertheless, I was curious to see how things played out in the second book. It wasn’t simply the cliff-hanger of an ending – although that did play a big part – but the fact that I’d been pulled into the world.
Without a doubt, I enjoyed Velocity a lot more than I enjoyed Gravity. There was a lot more provided in Velocity, giving us a number of answers, whilst leaving us with enough questions to leave us curious as to how the final book plays out. In fact, Velocity took the things I enjoyed most about Gravity and made them stronger.
In Velocity, we dive deeper into the world of the stars. We get a better understanding of the powers they possess and the way in which the world works. There are still some contemporary aspects to deal with early in the book, but they quickly fade as the science fiction element takes over. Moreover, having read book one, I found it easier to accept the science fiction in this story. I still found myself ranting slightly when the science did not match up with real life, but reading book one allowed me to understand this one better.
In case you didn’t realise it by now, you need to read book one first. The two are very closely linked, and to understand Velocity you need to first read Gravity. This is not a series of standalone novels; this is a closely linked trilogy.
In addition to developing a better understanding of the science fiction elements, we also get a better understanding of the characters. New elements are thrown into this story, and although I felt as though some elements were a bit on the predictable side, I did enjoy the added depth in this story. I would have liked for the ending to play out a bit differently – I found myself rolling my eyes at the aforementioned predictability and how the ending felt a bit clichéd because of it – but I know it will play in strongly with the final book.
Overall, I’m super excited to pick up the final book in this addictive trilogy. Once again, I dived straight into the next book, desperate to see how everything plays out. Whilst the series may not have started out the way I had hoped, it’s certainly growing stronger as I work my way through the books.
Velocity Book #2 in the Gravity series. By Anna Bloom.
3.5 Falling Stars.
Review in short. Picked up it's pace from book #1. We also pick up where book 1 finished. We see more Epic romance. Very good read and flying onto book #3 the last in the series. Can not be read as a stand-alone.
Velocity certainly picks up in pace from book #1 Gravity. It picks up where book #1 finished. And we are straight back into Bronte's life. She has had her memories wiped and falls into a normal life of sorts for a short while. But feels like there is something major missing. Something she can't stop searching for. This certainly contains a powerful romance! One that their souls still search for each other no matter what. Their souls will always find each other!
I very much enjoyed this book. More than book #1. I loved the web that Bronte is trying to untangle. There are so many questions. I do feel that there are so many gray areas, We could again have done with more information. Not something that gives anything away but to have understood a little. Again you are left reading and re-reading areas trying to make sense of things and jumping characters without any warning.
I did enjoy most of the characters in this story. Each one with its purpose. Poor Conner seem's to have the raw end of the deal. I like the little bits of witty humor usually coming from Conner. Love his Sweetheart line which pops up a few times.
I can honestly say well worth reading and flying onto book #3.
I've heard that the middle book of a trilogy is the hardest to get right. I really enjoyed the first book, it was a breath of something different, but this second book seems to have suffered from "middle book syndrome". The last 25% of it rocked - if only the first 75% had been more like it, and not mainly Bronte and Nick mooning about their love connection.
I received a free ebook from the author, and I am voluntarily giving an honest review.
"My pull towards you is like gravity with the full force of velocity weighing it down."
Boy oh boy. A. B. Bloom is back with the sequel to her YA Fantasy novel, Gravity, and fans of the series will not be disappointed! Velocity is filled with a fantastic storyline, great characters, secrets, twists, and a gorgeous romance to boot!
I absolutely loved everything about this book, especially the romance between Nick and Bronte. And not just their present tense romance; we get a series of flashbacks of Nick and his soulmate throughout the years, and I swear I had stars in my eyes as I read about them. AB Bloom would be a master of historical romance!
And then all those twists and turns? And that ending? Gah!! Who will Bronte trust in the third and final book in the series? I cannot wait to find out when it releases later this year.
I looked forward to reading Velocity, since I enjoyed reading Gravity, and was looking forward to continuing the story. Now, I feel cheated out of the time and money I invested in Velocity. First of all, the book was drawn out far longer than it should have been. Instead of this being a trilogy, A. B. Bloom could have made this a two-book, kick-ass series. In making this a trilogy, there ended up being too much fluff, and it's just the second book. Some previous life experiences to show Bronte who she was would have been fine, but sometimes too much is just that. Too much. Just when I felt I couldn't read any more, the ending shows up (but not really the ending-there's another whole book to read what could have been wrapped up in three or four chapters). I honestly don't know if I have the energy to read any more of what has come to feel like sludge, trekking through the sludge, trying to get to the end of the story. If have already purchased Infinity, I may read it, only because I hate to waste money on purchases, and being an ebook, I can't even give it away. Normally, my reasoning would be to give the author a chance to redeem herself, but not this time. This book continued to peg a ten on the bore-me meter. For that amount of time, I could have just watched some television and saved myself a little bit of money and a great deal of anticipation. On to my second and last point. In the first three pages of this ebook, there were four spelling errors, or one repeated four times. Authors and editors should know the difference between its and it is (it's). Grammar 101. Possessive versus contraction of words. I have already spent more time than it's worth discussing it. So, now, I'm done.
When I read the first part "Gravity", I just fell in love with Bronte's story and couldn't get enough. I was happy we didn't have to wait long for Velocity but now that I've read it, I want part three to be here already! I again loved it and fell even more, if that's even possible :-) I cannot wait to see how this story goes on and yes, I keep on hoping for a happy ending.
Bronte has been put back by the stars somewhere to keep her safe from harm but it isn't easy. She now goes by another name and is going to a new school. But something feels wrong and slowly but surely she is getting back her memory. But she also feels a strong pull for someone, a pull she can't seem to explain. The world is still in danger but down the line, she'll come to realise whose side everyone is on and she'll have to make a choice that could switch everything around even more...
I absolutely loved part 2 and I am dying to read part 3! A solid 5-star read for me!
Velocity by Anna Bloom is the second installment in the Young Adult Gravity Series.
Velocity picks up where Gravity ends. Bronte Bell´s life has fallen apart. The man she believed is her father and ally, is now her enemy. Her love is a star, her highschool nemesis is her sister. To protect her the stars have hidden her in a normal teenager life. But piece for piece the truth enravels. And it´s not a happy one. Nick and Bronte have a strong pull to each other. But Nick has a big secret that threatens to separate them. Like book one, Gravity, is Velocity well written , well thought out and well told. I loved the characters, the writing and the words. I give 5 stars. Thank you, Anna Bloom.
When Bron wakes up and cant remember too much of who she is or what happened the other stars try to keep it that way. Although nothing seems right and she feels like somethingd missing she lets it go. Until he falls and comes for her. Nick falls for her everytime but he cant do anything this time to interfere. Besides he thinks hes being punished with this fate. But when Bron remembers everything the stars are powerless to keep her from Nick.
Poor poor Bronte! I feel do sad for her confusion over things she cant even remember! Velocity is the second book of the Gravity series by Anna Bloom. It is not a standalone. The series must be read in order. I really did enjoy this book. I love the characters and the story line. I am giving 4 stars because I found myself confused and a little lost a couple of times. The story for me was a bit slow in places as well. Overall the book was really good with a few twists and turns and an epic and beautiful romance. As with book one, this is a great story for both young and old as it is pretty much a clean YA fantasy. I am definitely in love with this series and author!

AMAZING! WOW! Velocity picks up right where Gravity left off, and continues the tension-filled surprise package Anna Bloom created in the first book. I love everything about this series, and was once again captivated from start to finish. I was devastated to find I had to wait 10 whole days after I finished this book to get my hands on book 3. Another brilliant read, and I can't wait for more of Bronte and Nick's story.
Velocity is the second book in this series, and continues the story started in Gravity.
I love Anna Bloom's writing! Bronte is still figuring things out - she's got a lot of questions, and they frequently go unanswered when she asks them. Nick - swoon - remains committed to protecting Bronte - but he has something he's keeping from Bronte. I smiled, laughed and shed a few tears. There's twists and intrigue. And I loved it! I could not put this book down. Can't wait to read the next book!
Velocity is book two in the Gravity series and is not a standalone. You should read Gravity first. Bron and Nick's journey continues in Velocity. Bron is about to find out who to trust and not to trust. The lives of the Stars and Humans still rest on Bron's shoulders.
Love, love, loved it!!!! So many emotions I felt throughout the book. Book 3 can't come fast enough.
So after finishing Gravity I went straight into this book, thank god it continues straight on. I did find some of it at first a bit confusing but my head got round that. This book had me feeling the same way as book 1. It was exciting, angsty and tense. Phew!!
The story continues on from Gravity and oh what a story it is. We learn more about Bronte and discover what happened at the end of Gravity and we also find out about her and Nicks relationship over time. I absolutely loved this book.
Stars stars stars....Eeek! I'm excited and a little hungover. Velocity is Book 2 in the Gravity series and I absolutely loved every word.
Picking up from Gravity(Book 1), forces are working against Bronte and Nick. Only this time, Bronte is different and Nick is crippled by the past and rules and finds himself in a difficult position. Then, betrayal and intrigue combined and Velocity took me on the "I can't read this fast enough" train. The author excelled in making me feel the eternal love of Nick and Bronte. The flashbacks were phenomenal, periodic and simply magical. And yes dang it, this author gave me the feels as I read Nick's memory of the hospital scene. My heart jumped out of my chest and I just wanted to give him a hug. But can I tell you a little secret... well not really but when you read this book just know you won't see the betrayal coming.
Finally, this story is worthy of every star. This book sealed the impression for me that the Gravity series is a modern day Wuthering Heights which hopefully has a happier ending. Bring on Book 3!
This book starts almost as book one finished. At the beginning we get a glimpse of who is Tara and how she feels in the new enviroment - new school and everything. That was really great part. But then she starts seeing someone and she begin to feel connection with him. And after it we are put inne the middle of the stagation and after some time planning how to end the war. I can tell that it shocked me who was bad one here! And i loved it!!
Characters as in Gravity great. No one is white or black. A lot of grays. Plot also Has some major twists that change everything.

☆☆☆☆ 4.5 STARS ☆☆☆☆
Velocity continues on where Gravity book one left off, thank goodness. When book one ended, I was left confused why the story that hooked me ended so soon and I hoped for book two to come out and I’m so glad it did. While Gravity gave us a little peak on Nick and Bronte’s romance, it was nothing compared to the love that Author A.B. Bloom gives us in this second book. Bronte and Nick have been going through so many lives together, as Nick looses Bronte over and over. Their story of love and loss was heartbreaking. Nick loves Bronte so much, that he would die with a thousand swords just to be able to be with Bronte again. Their love was beautiful and the whole time I was reading, I was hoping for them to find a way to break the cycle and to really have a chance for a full life together. While Nick was nothing but truthful and loving, Bronte was still confused on who to trust. With so many lives lived, she still didn’t truly know who she was. Who really is Bronte? As Bronte works on finding herself, she also finds who Nick truly is.
No matter how wonderful this book is, readers will be left with yet again with another cliffhanger. I cannot wait for book 3, I am hoping that the couple get the conclusion to their love story and hoping for a beautiful ending for Nick and Bronte.
"My pull towards you is like gravity, with the full force of velocity weighing it down" This sums up Nick's feelings towards Bronte. Her star, her protector, her soulmate. Only problem being she can't remember him. Since they were last together, Bronte has had her memories wiped, however she keeps having recurring dreams about meeting a boy in black. This boy is Nick, a star who has been fated to spend etetnity loving Bronte over and over again throughout the ages. As Bronte begins to regain her memories and remember Nick, she still has so many unanswered questions about their fate. Is she still the chosen last star to balance out the scales between light and darkness? I loved this contuining story and can't wait to see where her chosen path will now lead her.
OMG, WOW I did not see that coming. Loved reading the second part of Bronte and Nick's story I was not expecting the out come. The writer did well to disguise the truth till it was ready to be revealed. Must read Gravity first to understand the whole story. I cannot wait for book three and see what happens.
Velocity by A.B. Bloom a thrilling five star read. This is the second book in the Gravity series, and is a young adult fantasy fallen stars’ romance. A.B. Bloom writes captivating characters; she writes about a time in life when it’s all just starting and puts across the innocence and naivety that she captures so well. You can’t help but fall in love with the people she writes about. I loved the first part of the series, and I am literally waiting with baited breath for the next instalment, I can’t wait if its half as good as this story it’s going to be amazing, it just gets better and better. What would you do if you woke up at 16 and the life you knew wasn’t your own, everything you know is turned on its head, the life she thinks she has as a normal 16 year old is slowing falling apart, will she get the help she needs or will she end up with the stars in a way she doesn’t want to. Only time will tell.
Wait what?? Why did it end? I need more!!! Velocity is the second book in the series go back and read Gravity, you won't be disappointed and you will be all catch up when you start Velocity. When I started reading Velocity I was about as confused as Bronte. My heart literally broke when Nick started telling Bronte of the past and when she choose not to trust. We get a little more background on Nick, Bronte and the other Stars. Now I just want more...
•Trust WOW, this is turning out to be an intense series! I canNOT wait for the continuation to find out what happens next. Bronte starts p out at yet another new school. The only difference is this time she's meet with a guy and a girl so not only notice her the first day, but they want to be friends. She's been through this so many things she tried to blow them off, but they won't go away. Them she finds out they are there to protect her and everything she thought was real wasn't. Excerpt her connection with Nick, or is it? You're going to have top read VELOCITY (Gravity Book 2) to find out. Although it's not required, reading GRAVITY (Book 1) first will give you insight/background information that'll help you understand what's going on a little more. This book uses British/UK spellings and references. I received an ARC via IndieSage in exchange for an honest blog tour review. Recommend from age 12+, teen paranormal romance.
Loved this sequel to Gravity! This book starts off where Gravity left off. Great story line and well developed characters. This was full of twists and turns but overall a great read. This does end with another cliffhanger but left me excited to read book 3. As I stated in my Gravity review, you will never look at stars in the sky the same way ever again, especially falling stars. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.
I was gifted an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.
5 glowing stars Wow wow wow!! Anna bloom has done it again, gravity (the first instalment in this 3 part series) blew my mind it was one of my top reads of last year but velocity has left me with the biggest book hangover imaginable. This has everything I love romance, twists, angst and a plot line you can't help but get hooked on and next thing you know you've devoured it! I had a little squeal when I had seen this land on my kindle. I love Bronte and Nick, their story and the connection between them is immense and you feel it through every word written on the page.. Connor on the other hand I wanted to scream at my kindle at times. I will never see a shooting (falling) star again and not think of this. An amazing second instalment and I cannot wait for the next and final part.
*~* Arc received in return for an honest and unbiased review *~*
It's official, I will never look at the stars the same again, especially a "falling star." This book was so full of confusion and unanswered questions. That's not a bad thing though, it kept me pushing forward wanting to know more. There was so much love jumping off the pages from Nick. He really tries to show Bronte all the love he possesses for her without giving her the answers that she needs. Answers that he's afraid to give her for some unknown reason (I wanna know!). Bronte is struggling to really understand and to fully except. She's trying but with everyone constantly deflecting it's hard not to struggle. I went into this book knowing that it wasn't the final conclusion. I knew I would have to wait to get all the answers and love that I truly wanted. But it still left me with a massive book hangover. I'm dying to read the conclusion but I will patiently wait.
I love this quote from Nick... "My pull towards you is like gravity with the full force of velocity weighing it down."
This is the second book in this series, and cannot be read as a standalone. Bronte and Nick’s journey continues, with Bronte learning whom to trust and who not to. Nick is trying his best to guide her without giving her the answers she wants. This story is and intense and emotional read, with the love shining through clearly on each page. Awesome Anna! Cannot wait to read the third book in this series.
