I bought this book knowing that the author is an experienced food stylist and thinking she’d have some good tips to share.
As I bought a physical copy of the book, the first thing I noticed was that the paper and construction quality wasn’t as good as other books in this genre I’ve read recently. (Everything Oz springs to mind).
The book is divided into two sections ‘Projects’ and ‘Celebrations’. I was quite disappointed with the ‘Projects’ which were just a series of basic and not very inspiring makes. These included simple tags with words stamped on them, stones painted with dots, and jam jars with foliage and tea lights. Each of these was given a full page of photo and instructions, which I didn’t feel they were worth.
However, the ‘celebrations‘ section was, in contrast , very good. Unsurprisingly she has clever ideas on food styling (I’d have liked more of these) and her section on children’s parties was really inspiring.
So I’d like to suggest that Holder sticks to styling events in her next book – and make it glossy.
