IS THE NEXT GREAT AWAKENING RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER? In the midst of intense global societal discord—persecution, rights activism, racial tension, intense political hostility, and the resurgence of anti-establishment counterculture—many have lost faith in governments and even in church leadership to provide answers and stability. But this feeling—this underlying sensation that pricks our national cognition with a constant needling, demanding to be fought against and yet powerful enough that it inspires hopeless demoralization—has occurred before. From the Bohemian Reformation of John Wycliffe and Jan Hus in the 1300s to the “Jesus People” of the 60s and 70s, every era ripe with public dejection and faith-drought foreshadowed spiritual awakenings. These often began in the unlikeliest of places by the most inconceivable of personalities, and then spread like uncontrollable brushfires across the land resulting in millions surrendering their hearts and lives to the Lord. As today’s world becomes more desperate to experience such personal meaning and social healing, the world is inadvertently moving toward another Great Awakening! IN FINAL FIRE, YOU WILL LEARN: • How God used simple men, women, and youth of the past—“unqualified” by human and finite standards—to irreversibly change the world.
• What practices were employed that reformed traditional “religious rituals” into personal relationships with Christ, and how those methods are poised to be repeated in the near future.
• Why the age of social networking through virtual technology is keeping families and communities from real human relationships, how this relates to an international and spiritual hunger for revival, and how this very same technology will pave the way for an even vaster spreading of the Gospel.
• Which current events are now contributing to the largescale unrest mankind all feels, and how this is lining up to unleash what these authors believe to be the Greatest Awakening yet!
• Evidence from around the globe that the Awakening may have already started, and will be joined by growing demonstrations of miracles, healings, prophetic visions, and angels in the days just ahead!

INTERESTING HISTORY, BUT ALSO INCORRECT ‘PREDICTIONS’
Author and TV/radio personality Thomas R. Horn, serves as the Chief Executive Officer of SkyWatchTV.
He wrote in the first chapter of this 2016 book, “I was able to very precisely predict the historical resignation of Pope Benedict in the book ‘Petrus Romanus’… a year in advance… I was… instantly convinced that we had been led by God to make this discovery … that in fact Pope Benedict would indeed step down in April 2012 using ‘health reasons’ as a cover for abdication. I went on television and radio in 2011… As the year 2012 came and went and [neither] Pope Benedict nor the Vatican made any announcement that he was stepping down, I thought perhaps, for the first time since I had woken up dead in heaven years earlier, the … ‘instructions’ mechanism had either not worked or I had been mistaken… Then … February 28, 2013… the resignation of Pope Benedict was announced by the Vatican… I’m raising this issue now because there has been another ‘quickening,’ and this time it involves the current Pope Francis… I will now convey what I … predict is going to happen over the next few years.” (Pg. 8-9)
He asserts, “Sometime over the next forty-eight months, the Islamic State and/or their associates are going to use a weapon of mass destruction. It will be of such scope and impact as to raise the international outcry sufficient for Rome to play its first card… When this WMD (electromagnetic pulse, biological weapon, chemical weapon, dirty radiological bomb, or nuke that causes widespread damage) is used by ISIS, the Roman pontiff will call for the revitalization of the Christan rules for Just War. A coalition army … will be formed to seriously engage the Islamic radicals.” (Pg. 20)
He continues, “today we are witnessing the most amazing similarities between cultural phenomenon (the threat of war, terror, an ISIS WMD, and the loss of faith in establishment politicians) the preceded many Awakenings of the past, including the ‘Age of Fire’ that … grew out of military conflict and the formation of the modern Jewish state of Israel. I predict… at least one final Great Awakening awaits the immediate future. Unfortunately, predict a terrorist use of a weapon of mass destruction and the military conflict following it will---like the Holocaust did---partly provide the impetus for both the Church and society’s awakening… the coming global spiritual stirring may be… the greatest supernatural awakening in the history of mankind.” (Pg. 26)
He explains, “Although the term ‘Great Awakenings’ … is more often a reference to the enthusiasm of irreligious people turning to the faith for the first time, a significant feature of this first movement is a massive revival of believers…” (Pg. 77) Later, he adds, “the second Great Awakening is episodic in nature, involves several subsidiary movements, enmeshes denominations, spans intermittent periods over a century… and came about partly as a result of the formation of America as its own independent country. One key element of this awakening was the rigorous clash between—and later harmony within---denominational borders.” (Pg. 103)
He acknowledges, “Numerous scholars and historians have claimed that the second Great Awakening DID end circa 1850, and that the third Great Awakening never occurred at all, based on their own list of ‘awakening’ qualifiers, which the third Great Awakening does not meet. When one considers their argument open-mindedly, one will likely find it sound, as their definitions are logical… Yet, a vast majority of others persist in recognizing religious history from 1850 to approximately 1920 to be the official years of the third Great Awakening, based on an EQUALLY valid and logical list of qualifiers.” (Pg. 133)
He reports, “The vast revivals that had begun through Moody’s efforts … in the late 1800s thrust easily into the first two decades of the following century. In 1900, when the national revival threatened to wane after Moody’s death, prayer meetings were called by leaders of the Moody Bible Institute, and the 1904 Revival was the emphatic response. By the Pentecostal Azusa Street Revival in 1906, America observed another surge, and it wasn’t until circa 1920 that the states settled into stagnation.” (Pg. 163)
He explains, “A generation in the Bible is typically forty years… Scholars in 1948 then presumed that the last generation would end by 1988… The ‘80s birthed a GREAT number of date-setter ministers who claimed … Christ would return, by the year 1988. And, obviously, they were wrong… According to Psalm 90:10, ‘The days of our years are threescore years and ten, and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years’ … which brings us to the following equations: 1948 + 7 = 2018 and 1948 + 80 = 2028, two to twelve years from the time of this writing. Yet again, the account of Genesis 15:13-16 assigns one hundred years to a generation…” (Pg. 192)
He states, “The Bible presents a warfare worldview. There are invisible, but very hostile, intelligent entities that are seeking to impede or destroy the redemptive plans of God. Many of the pagan religions also speak of spirits, demons, and malevolent spirit entities. There is a never-ending battle between good and bad and light and darkness that will never end, because none of the good duties can ultimately vanquish their enemies. However, this theological dualism is not the biblical view. In the biblical worldview, evil is intelligent and volitional.” (Pg. 269)
Larry Spargimino asks, “Are all Muslims terrorists?” and he quotes Joel Rosenberg, “The non-Jihadist Muslims… “deserve … to be appreciated, encouraged, and supported, for in many ways they represent our front line of defense in stopping the worst-case scenarios being planned by the radicals.” This is one of the principal reasons why I… believe that conservatives in the West … need to be very careful not to alienate this ‘front line of defense.’ While some might claim I am ‘soft of Islam,’ such is not the case… we do have to be honest about facts … and not carelessly lump all Muslims together. Ther are some Muslim groups that are speaking out, publicly, against Jihad.” (Pg. 284)
He concludes, “God wants to bring revival, is bringing revival in certain parts of the world, and want to bring revival to many more regions prior to the Rapture of the Church. Too many Christians … will decry the ‘social gospel’ and other movements… that leave out a supernatural new birth… is it possible to be a good fundamentalist and not really believe in the supernatural?... The two greatest hindrances to revival are: (1) failing to meet the requirements … [in] 2 Chron 7:14, (2) limiting God with ideas that come from … nearly packaged theological formulations… when a particular theology becomes so rigid… it limits God and truly becomes a hindrance to revival.” (pg. 351)
This book has some interesting material about the earlier revival movements; however, we must in all honesty note that the “next forty-eight months” after 2016 are past, and there has been no Islamic terrorist attack with any WMD, much less a ‘Just War’ declared by the Pope.
