Introducing Demons After Dark: A Primani World Crossover Series. It’s hot paranormal romance featuring antiheroes who will make you laugh, cry, and swoon. Known only as Trinity demons, this band of brothers was stripped of their powers and violently exiled from Hell. Wrongly accused of an unthinkable crime, they’re left to survive with no memories and no weapons while a secret society quietly plots Lucifer’s demise. All is not lost though. Between some heavenly interference and the love of a few good women, the Trinity just might make it home before all Hell breaks loose. The new series begins with Dylan and Vanek.

Thanks to her family’s curse, Dylan has been promised to a sadistic soul broker demon and she’s desperate to escape a terrifying future. After an impulsive act leads her to Morningstar Sanitarium, she’s inexplicably drawn to the sad and mysterious Vanek, but the connection is broken when they escape. Forced into hiding, Dylan turns to Expat Security for protection. Stunned to find the disturbingly sexy Vanek working there, she almost walks away. Another demon is the last thing she needs in her life.

Formerly one of Hell’s most renowned Painkillers, Vanek is horrified with being human until he discovers he’s been thrown into the body of a badass mercenary with a definite kinky streak and a box of sex toys. Wondering how he got so lucky, he jumps into his new role as second in command in Trinity’s ops center--Expat Security. When Dylan comes to them for help, he knows he's got to handle her case personally. As his attraction to her grows, so does the conspiracy that landed him in Brooklyn.

Is Vanek’s past the key to saving his future--and hers?

Warning: This story contains snort out loud humor, intensely hot sex, a blistering antihero, and a damsel with a steel backbone. The author takes no responsibility for missed work or grouchiness from lack of sleep.

I just could not get into this. First I was lost. I had no clue what was going on. Sometimes the things that happened didn't make sense to me. There was absolutely no chemistry between the main characters.

This is the first time reading anything by this author and it will not be the last! This is an easy read that is addictive! I couldn't put it down! I LOVE the beginning's setting where Dylan meets Vanek, not the typical setting. Hehe! :) There is witty dialogue and steamy love scenes. I completely love the concept of this series, by using demons as the main characters. I am very impressed with this paranormal romance!

First off this is one of my favourite authors! That said she really didn't disappoint with Vanek. The first book in her new series. If you liked the Primani Series you'll love this series.
Vanek a demon living in hell was exiled and has no idea why and has no memory of his passed life in hell. He finds himself in a mental institution where he meets Dylan. She has a whole set of problems if her own.
He finally gets broken out by his brother Nash and slowly starts to regain his memories.
Dylan has been promised to a demon for her special gift only Aiden is the worst demon she could ever have known. He's rude and violent with her to keep her in line.
She is fed up and decides that she needs to disappear and enlists Vanek's help to make her a new identity to get away from Aiden.

I already can't wait till the next book in the series!!

May contain a SPOILER!!

New author to me and book sounded really good. It started out kinda slow. It took awhile to figure out where it was going and what was really going on. So, there was a little confusion at the beginning. It didnt really start to speed up and come together til about 35-40% in. It was an interesting way to get things started in a mental institution with these characters. Dylan's character has been through hell. She's been sold to a demon soul broker and he's mean as hell...no pun intended. She's got a psychic gift and she's able to find things for him. When she fails there are painful consequences. She has a number of psychotic breaks where she loses reality throughout the book. Dont get me wrong. She's not crazy but anyone who's been through what she has the minds tend to go to a different place sometimes in order to not deal with those memories. Vanek is/was a demon and he's been exiled from hell along with his team who were labeled as traitors and they are actually innocent. Vanek's "job" in hell is torturer of dirty souls. He relished his job but having no memory for awhile he's a little lost. Once he gains part of it back well...being stuck in a human body is weird. He freaks out and with human feelings and reluctantly helping Dylan he starts to have feelings for her and cant help it and kinda hates it at first. The sexy times are hot and naughty and Vanek being a former demon well he's well versed in a woman's body. Dylan cannot help herself! Anyways, his twin brother, Nash and the team they've yet to find them all need to figure out who's behind the coup to force Lucifer out. There are a lot of different plots in the book. Some will be annoyed but since its a series I am ok with it. I do recommend.

Dylan McDonagh signs herself into Morningstar Sanatorium after she survives a car accident trying to escape her brother and demonic fiancé Aiden. Bound by a promise made by her father who died after selling his soul for wealth and power, she has been forced to use her psychic gift to gain access to ancient artifacts for Aiden.

Vanek is one of the demons ejected from Hell on a trumped up charge of treason against Lucifer. He finds himself at that same sanatorium committed after finding himself in the human world with no memory and a shitload of anger.

Dylan is drawn to him, she hears his tormented nightmares and using her gift to see through the walls, she sees a demon in his room at night.
They both know they need to get out of their but for different reasons. Vanek needs to know who he is and Dylan needs to hideaway somewhere where she can't be found.

The opportunity arises when Nash one of the other exiles locates Vanek. He has no intention of taking a human with them and I have to say I don't like him very much. Vanek on the other hand has been winning my heart over.

There's a lot of build up in this book and as much as I found myself laughing out loud, I also found myself gasping in horror and tears falling from my eyes.

Vanek and Dylan together spark excitement and the air just sizzles. I do wonder about the rest of that crew though.

A hold your breath page turner with plenty of action and heat.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I found it very entertaining. The characters were unique , the storyline was original and the mystery behind who orchestrated the demons current predicament is very attention grabbing. Ms. Olerich's view of Hell was a delightful surprise and far from what we are taught. ( I liked her concept better ). Vanek was an intense character, the struggle he and the others undertake to understand their new limitations, find the betrayer, figure out what is going on and staying alive keeps you on the edge of your seat. Dylan was a tougher character to break down as the "reasons" behind her gift being important and what her gift was are really not laid out in plain speak so it takes a little while to put the pieces together. This Primani World is brought into play and references to the dislike between the demons and the primani is made apparent. While I have not read the primani stories ( but I will) the storyline was not hindered in any apparent way. I thought it was well written, had great characters, an intriguing plot that captures your attention and was very entertaining. Some interesting twists and turns challenge your concept of heaven , hell, demons , angels and Lucifer himself. A great read that I would highly recommend.
I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion.

Coincidents

Vanek is a typical demon but being forced into a human body has changed him. It seems a bit too coincidental that he just happens to be transported into a body near Dylan, sent to the same mental hospital, and eventually fall for each other. I love it though. They are both broken but begin to heal. My favorite part was their time in the cabin. It was a nice, sexy break from the trauma violence. Some disturbing parts showing some of her abuse with Aiden however the good news is there is a wonderful ending.

Heroine didn't have it easy. Hero was......literally perfect which was annoying. When I heard Lucifer all I could think was supernatural but interesting take on things.

I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

Dylan has been promised to a Soul Broker by her family but is desperate to escape him and his brutality. Having acted impulsively she is in the Morningstar Sanitarium hiding and trying to avoid returning to the real world when she is drawn to Vanek who is also there. They are separated when they both escape and she goes to Expat Security is protection and a new identity, however she finds Vanek there and is determined to leave as one demon in her life is more than enough.

Vanek had a reputation in Hell as a Painkiller and freaks out when he realises he is in a human body but feels better when he realises he is now a mercenary (with a bit of kink). As he meets other team members from Hell they start to group together and are known as the Trinity Demons. When he meets the Soul Broker who "owns" Dylan he realises with his growing feelings for her he has to protect her, and that he also needs to track down the conspiracy that wrongly sent him there in the first place.

This is a great new series connecting to the original Primani stories. It was great to see a demon as the good guy and that after all of that drama he did receive some kind of a reward. I love the direction of the story and can't wait to see how it develops (with lots of twists and turns I'm sure). The book was well written and the story was well explained. Feelings were described well and I could definitely empathise with the characters.

Another phenomenal read from Laurie Olerich! This book had me in hysterics from both laughing and crying. How can you not fall in love with Vanek (and Nash of course) and Dylan for that matter! All are delicious. And the best part you may ask, my favourite characters from the Primani series make an appearance. That's right, you get some Dec, some Sean and some Killian! How much more awesome can one book hold?! (If you haven't read the Primani series yet, what the hell are ya waiting for???!!!)
This one is a roller-coaster of emotions while Vanek tries to figure out who he is and what the hell is going on .... in hell, ironically. Between hiding / fighting with Adian the a$$ hole and trying to save his girl - and hopefully figure out why he's human, you're in for a wild ride.
Trust me when I say read this - and if you like sexy - hold on to your bondage tape this has some HAWT!
So, do it and don't forget to read Primani too, maybe you'll end up loving all these characters as much as I do! :)

Human demons!

I'm not going to pretend to have understood the first few chapters of this book...because I didn't. Hadn't got a clue what was happening! Didn't really 'get' it until half way through. Turns out a band of demons are exciled from hell to earth with none of their powers intact, and taken the identities of humans. Also in the mix is a woman trying to escape her own demons and a family curse.
A complex paranormal romance with violence, a bit of bad language and sex. Written in the third person. A few inconsistencies but an ok read once you can get past all the bumph at the beginning. 2.5*

Lucifer has a problem, someone is planning on taking Hell right from under him. But there is a lot that needs to happen before that can take place.  Like exiling all the demons that are loyal to Lucifer and stripping them of their powers.

After being exiled from Hell, one of Lucifer's painkillers found himself in a mental institution without any memory of who or what he was.  All Vanek knows is that his every instinct is telling him to torture.  Until a girl crosses his path, he remains in a drug induced haze.

Dylan has her own problems, her family and the man she is supposed to marry.  But she takes an opportunity to escape with Vanek.  Now she is on the run just tying to survive and stay safe with the one man who until recently tortured souls.  As Vanek gets to know her he realizes how special she is and the gifts that she has.

There is so much that is going on in this story.  A plot to take over Hell, exiled demons trying to find their way home, a girl trying to escape a death sentence and a romance between two people that don't have anything in common. This story has a different perspective on demons and angels that is so intriguing.   It's weaved together with humour, great action with a mystery to figure out.

I definitely found this story extremely addictive and can't wait to read about all the other missing demons.

Vanek, book one of Demons After Dark by Laurie Olerich is a new take on demons for me. One rarely sees them portrayed in a good light, but our hero and his “brothers” from Hell are definitely the good guys with a lot of bad attitude, oodles of sex appeal, and hearts of gold. They have been ejected from Hell after having been falsely accused of conspiring against Lucifer. Thrust into the human realm without powers or memories, they seek out the others as they remember who they are. Vanek is the third of several who have been restored, and they form Expat Security to generate income and search for their missing members.
Vanek meets Dylan as she flees from the demon her father has traded her to. She seeks out Expat to help her disappear and…well, you’ll have to read the book to find out. Suffice to say that there’s lots of action, passion and witty dialogue as the couple moves towards a resolution. There's also an unlikely alliance that forms which moves the story forward to it exciting conclusion, and promises what I imagine will be several more exciting books. Ms. Olerich is a skilled writer, and so I rate this book as highly recommended. I am looking forward to reading more and so very glad to have discovered this author.

I am a huge fan of the Primani stories and it was sad to see it end. This series continues the story but in a new direction. This time you get a different look at demons. Vanek and his friends have been accused of treachery and removed from the lives. They have been put in human bodies on Earth and it is quite an adjustment. When he meets a human being terrorized by a demon, his life continues to go in a new and strange direction. It is a really good storyline and I had to stay up to read it all at once. It is a great mix of paranormal, action and romance.

Dylan and Vanek are an intriguing couple. She has had to face so much abuse by the demon and her brother. The author makes it clear how bad it was physically and emotionally. Somehow they are brought together and he vows to save her. They have a really strong connection and I loved the scenes where they just got to spend time together away from all the pain and the past. I am really looking forward to the rest of the series.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

ADDICTIVE!!

You know those special books that you find that inspire a mad dash to the book store or to an online search engine. The ones that make you frantically search for more in the series or more from that particular author? This is one of those books!
Vanek is resourceful, sensual, sexy and exciting. After being ejected from Hell this notorious "Painkiller" is not prepared for the human world. During a stay at a Sanitarium he meets a human woman, Dylan, who has problems of her own. Dylan's family is cursed and she is tangled up with a Soul demon. But who would believe her, much less help her?
The writing was exceptionally engaging and hooks you right from the start. The characters are rich and well developed and you become invested in their challenges. Vanek and Dylan have a connection that burns through the pages and sets you on fire. The sex is passionate, bold, and sparks fly! This story is hot and well written and should not be missed.

First off, I didn't finish the book. I couldn't, and after looking at all the other glowing reviews, I'm wondering if we read the same book.

I could not get behind the wimpy, victim of a main character. She was worthless, and had no redeeming qualities. There was No sexual tension between the two main characters, it felt rather forced. Yet worst of all, nothing happened. She's trying to get away from her fiancé, so she ends up hiring the same guy that helped her escape a mental facility... Then they lay low in his house, which was a super clunky segue into them having sex.... The second sex scene literally had a fade to black moment reminiscent of twilight. Uck.

I really wanted to like this book after meeting the author, who was a sweet person.

Vanek (Demons After Dark Book One) by Laurie Olerich
Laurie Olerich has this new series that is a continuation from the Primani series. As I very much enjoyed those books, I wanted to give this new series a try. This is a smoking hot read with a great storyline that is fast paced. It brings us Vanek and Dylan. Vanek is a demon that has been ousted and dropped into a human body. Dylan is a psychic that is being used and threatened by a demon. The Primani show up in this book and I always enjoy a book that has characters that I am familiar with in it.
I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series. Laurie can be counted on to always bring a great story, she has turned into one of my favorite authors.

Vanek, set in the Primani world, starts off Laurie Olerich newest series Demons After Dark. Despite cameos from the Primani crew, the story focuses on demons who have been exiled from Hell. The writing is darker and sexier, with a steady flow. The characters are interesting to say the least. Dylan is tenacious and refuses to be married off to the Soul Broker and his sadistic ways. Vanek is somewhat lost without his memories and power. The Trinity, conspiracies, and possible Hell breaking loose, all make Vanek a good start to the new series. I voluntarily reviewed Vanek as an advanced copy from the author.

This was just a 3.5 in my estimates. It was really hard to get into at the first, and then it got going, finally. I felt like I was dropped into a world, which I realized this is an offshoot of another series. I did enjoy the characters but I really didn't feel like I got to connect with them for very long before the author moved me to a different character. Going back and forth between Dylan and Vanek was hard....just as I got into how one was thinking it jumped to the other. I lost count of how many times I got thrown out of the story. It is a good story. Just hard to hold onto.

this one took some time to get into... it started out a bit confusing but I guess that was the point since the character was also confused. it got much better when the two main characters started interacting with each other. the steamy scenes were intense and very well written.. it's a very dark book with a lot of violence for the main heroine Dylan.. but it does have funny and lighter moments. it's definitely interesting to see where this is going and I'm very interested in continuing to read the series.. so I'd recommend it.

I enjoyed this story. The levels of demons and angels along with the "human" behavior in exiling for some devious plan made it a good read. As Dylan tries to change her future, she ends up asking for help from Vanek and his fellow demons. Together, their chemistry is off the charts. Her strength and his total honesty kept me turning the pages. I look forward to the next in this story as they try to get to the bottom of the nefarious plot.

A highly interesting story about exiled demons. I really enjoyed the twists and turns the story took. I couldn't put the book down from the first page. I definitely recommend this if you enjoy sexy and naughty demons.
The characters themselves were entertaining to say the least. They were fun to read and I enjoyed the tension and romance between the characters.
I would love to see what happens next and where the story goes from here.

The blurb says it all. And wow did I find Vanek hot. That is one demon I would not kick out of bed. Dylan is cursed and it seems like the only one who can help her is Vanek. But Vanek has his own issues cause he is a demon loyal to Lucifer who was stripped of his powers and sent to a human body. All so Lucifer's demise could be plotted. Dive into this book that is full of twists and turns and enjoy!! I loved it.

Very interesting series starter. Vanek & Dylan both have demon issues. I felt so sorry for Dylan and all she had to go through. She's not a quitter though and since Vanek thinks he is invincible, they are pretty well matched. Their story isn't a cliffhanger but the mystery of what is going on with the demons is very gripping and drives you to want more. :)

I received this book from Candid Book Reviews in exchange for an honest review.

4 stars = fantastic!

A romance with an interesting plot. Vanek (John Doe) and Dylan meet in a sadistic asylum, and find their lives twisting together after they escape. She's on the run from her brother; he's an exiled demon now in a human body, trying to take down a demonic uprising. What happens next is a thrill a minute, along with serious erotic moments, terrifying moments, joyful moments and moments of horrendous pain.

Vanek was a great starter book for this series. Exiled and thrown into a human's body is the least of his worries. A woman, Dylan, needs his help, but going up against her enemies may prove to be a little hard. Add into it a bit of love and the adventure is a thrilling ride. Gonna grab me the next installment.
