The need to belong to him overtakes me and hope flutters in my chest. Fear of abandonment and a broken heart hide in the shadows as hope, this new sensation, shines bright, alighting every corner of doubt in my mind.

This book took me by complete surprise, and I absolutely loved it. I read the blurb and judging by the cover, I expected this to be a silly but super steamy erotic novella! K. Webster has been known to write a few of those. However, this was like two stories wrapped up in one perfect little package. A merging of the reality show”Married At First Sight” meets ”The Walking Dead, but without all the zombies!! This is exactly why I love K. Webster so much – you never know what you’re going to get with her. The story starts off light-hearted but then things get incredibly steamy followed by a healthy dose of the dark element that we have come to enjoy from this author!!

Taylor Cunningham is the host of her own television talk show. In an effort to increase her ratings, she goes along with the producer’s plans which involve her marrying a complete stranger that a matchmaking service sets her up with. She is then to have their wedding and lives together for the next three months televised to the viewing audience. Harley Harrison has had his heart broken in the past by a woman he thought he’d be spending the rest of his life with. Determined to find love again, he agrees to enter into this arranged televised marriage. Things start off a bit rocky between Harley and Taylor as she seems very standoffish and the two couldn’t be more opposite if they tried. But something changes and one night their growing attraction becomes impossible to ignore. The only problem is they forgot to make sure the cameras were off and their frantic lovemaking is broadcasted on air.

 photo Harley3_zpscpiynexd.jpg

Just when you think that the biggest worry that these two have is that they’ll have to face all the negative and embarrassing publicity, a terrorist group has managed to turn off the electricity for the entire United States! Now, these two are heading out of NYC with a few belongings and supplies towards Harley’s family home in Montana. As you can imagine they are faced with an apocalyptic version of their country. People have become degenerates when there is an absence of order and lawfulness. Harley and Taylor are now fighting the battle of their lives just to survive in their new world. Throughout their journey, the love that builds between them only blossoms and all that matters is that they have each other. Luckily, Harley is a survivalist and has experience living off the land and doing without all the comforts of modern technology, and it also doesn’t hurt that he has an insatiable sexual appetite!

If you’re looking for something a bit different with some hotter than hell steam, make sure you pick this one up. It’s a quick read and thoroughly entertaining!!

SURVIVING HARLEY is a spin-off of THE ROAD BACK TO US, but can be read as a standalone. Be sure to one-click!

Taylor and Harley’s marriage wasn’t a union of two people pledging to spend the rest of their lives together. All they were really promising was to spend ninety days together while every bit of their lives was captured on camera and broadcasted to millions of people. After that, if they couldn’t stand each other, they would be free to divorce.

Taylor is a talk show host that only agreed to this crazy little stunt to boost ratings. Harley is a survivalist that agrees to marry Taylor after having his heart broken by another woman. Though they are supposed to be a perfect match, it appears like somebody made a mistake, because Taylor and Harley seems as different from each other as possible. Taylor spends her time counting down the days until she can get out of their sham of a marriage, but Harley is determined to make their marriage work no matter what. He can feel the attraction between them and knows that if Taylor would just let go and give into it, everything would be fine.

One night, Taylor does just that, but it’s accidentally broadcast for the world to see. When she wakes up the next morning, all she is worried about is getting fired, so Harley drives her to work and waits for her to call if things get too rough. What neither of them know is that when they leave the building, they will no longer be worried about her job. Taylor and Harley will be worried about their very survival.

As you all know by now, K. Webster is one of my favorite authors, so of course I jumped at the chance to read Surviving Harley, and just like I suspected, it didn’t disappoint. This story is well written, well-paced, and engaging with three dimensional characters and an entertaining plot. It would have made a great full length book, because the elements of a full story are all packed into this little novella. As opposed to most of the books I read by this author, there is only a few splashes of darkness woven into this story, but it’s worth mentioning for anyone that may have triggers. If you are looking for a short, steamy, unique romance or if you are a fan K. Webster’s work, I recommend this one to you!

What would you do if the world as you knew it came to an end? Thankfully Harley and Taylor didn't have to figure it out alone. Stuck together through an arranged marriage to boost ratings for Taylor's talk show, at first their relationship was stilted. Luckily Harley wasn't willing to give up on having something more with her and eventually breaks down Taylor's walls. And then the world as they know it came crumbling down and these two were fighting just to survive.

This novella was jam-packed with insta-love but it's the plot that kept me going. There was drama, suspense and anarchy. I loved it! Add to that the beautiful connection that developed between Harley and Taylor and I was completely sold. Then again, everything K. Webster writes is a winner for me.

descriptionI really like this cover. It's a good representation on the hero in my opinion. The composition is pretty good. I would have moved the author's name up under the HARLEY offsetting the SURVIVING. Then moved the teaser blurb to be more centered underneath. I'm still not crazy about the placement of the little series graphic. It throws the composition off a bit for me, but it seems to be a series wide placement thing.description

description I swear this author can not write a bad book. My only complaint about this one was I wish it had been longer. It was well-written. Had an interesting and original plot. Was nicely paced. Had smokin' sex scenes. Had a likable hero and heroine. And was all topped off with a sweet epligue.

Now I need to go back and read Harley's brothers book The Road Back to Us. Two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly.description

K. Webster can do no wrong. There, I've said it. Let it be known across Goodreads and various book blogs that this woman is a fucking amazing writer and I have YET to read a book of hers that didn't make me want stand and start a slow clap at the end of it.
description

The book is centered around Harley and Taylor. In an attempt to get more notoriety for her show, Taylor Talk, Taylor agreed to marry a stranger for three months and film their relationship on television. Harley, a survivalist, signs up for the show as a way to mend the broken heart he had that was caused by a previous relationship. The two couldn't be any more different. Harley (as Taylor calls him) is a bull in a china shop whereas Taylor is extremely OCD about everything.

Harley knows from the beginning that they will work and they will be together forever- it's Taylor that needs the convincing. So how does he convince her? Why, using his amazing sexual prowess, of course! Which leads to some SUPER steamy scenes that make me SUPER flushed just thinking about. Then the unthinkable happens, a country-wide terrorist attack wipes out the power in the country and all that is left for people to do is learn to survive and wait it out. Can Taylor survive not only the terrorist attack, but Harley as well?

Loved this book and I cannot wait for the next one! :-)

This book is not safe ( at least for me)

-reality show arranged marriage for a TV host and a survivalist

- they got "married" 3 months ago, h was still sleeping with her Producer for the first month of their "marriage"

-2 months before this "marriage" H broke up with his Girl he was going to marry because she was sleeping with someone else the whole time. H really loved his ex a lot.... even had her name tattooed on him.

-h was rapped at a young teen age 14/15.... but she said she enjoyed it most of the time....... plus it's described in detail...

- at first this book had a ridiculous cheesy storyline.. TV host marries a survivalist on a reality show to up her TV ratings.. but then a terrorist attack happens on the country and now they're on the run living in the forest while trying to get to his Montana cabin..... yay.... did not mesh well.

-while on the run some random guys catch her and try to rape her, they put their fingers in her.... his descriptive....

-h constantly describing the difference sex-related between her husband and her ex

Yay so a lot of NO's for me!!! I'm surprised I got that far into the book.... the only thing I like was the the H was a OTT alpha male.....

I DO NOT recommend this book....

I really really really enjoyed this quick little diddy by K Webster.

So Taylor is a talk show host, who strives for perfection on screen. She likes being able to control people's perception of her. The plastic her. The two friends she has in her life push her to do a marriage reality show to boost her shows ratings and secure her career. I mean it's all for show anyway, right?

Harley is a survivalist from Canada and after some stuff goes on at home with his cheating ex, he leaves for America and decides that being on a reality show about marrying at first sight is the best idea for him to keep him distracted.

Insert shy and closed of Taylor, and broody caveman Harley and you have a tense match to say the least. These two spend a lot of time avoiding each other, but once they come together.... the world falls apart. Hmm, that doesn't sound right?

Anyway, this story was completely unexpected and actually made me think of, "what if?" I also liked the aspect of the marriage show because people don't go into that stuff thinking it will end in love, so when it doesssss.... interesting. Plus the naughty bits were hot, as per usual. Really great read.

The setting for this book was great. It set during a group of terrorist attacks in the USA and they have to drive from the east coast to Montana and seek shelter there.

It would be a good post apocalyptic romance setting initially (almost). And both of these people were also a part of a televised marriage at first sight show. So yeah, a bit drama there. It was good.

A talk show host and a survivaist

This was a really good story about a talk show host and a survivalist who get married for three months and have their lives broadcast on air. They were rated by America as the best match, but these two were possibly the most unlikeliest match. Something occurs at the end where his survivalist training helps because there is no longer any electricity.

Taylor Cunningham ---will do just about anything for ratings. This time, she has done it. Married a stranger all for the love of high ratings. One drunken night though, with cameras all around their apartment, viewers saw more than just the everyday life of these ‘newlyweds’.

Harley Harrison --- will do just about anything to survive in the wilderness. What he never thought he would find himself doing is being ‘married’ to a NYC TV host. But after being hurt in his last relationship, he decides to let everything go and tie the knot to a stranger.

Her wedding was for ratings…His wedding was forever.

Then something happens and the story takes a complete twist.

Now Taylor and Harley are running away from NYC. Forget the ratings! For now, we are concentrating on pure survival.

This is a quick read in which will have you questioning where K. Webster comes up with all her plots!

The blurb itself sounded like a weird combo. We have reality show, arranged marriage and terrorist? When it comes to K Webster, I learn to expect the unexpected.

In order to prepare yourself to understand the story better, do read the blurb before starting because we were thrown in the middle of the story without much explanation and you will be left wondering what the heck is going on if you don't have an idea beforehand.

Expect some panty melting scene with a bearded alpha male who is going all out to protect his woman. The heroine is a bit like a damsel in distress, but she certainly make it work in this crazy little novella.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Oh man, I want Harley for myself. Handsome, made of steel, and a survivalist by career and by choice, Harley is everything you don't expect, boasting a heart of gold and a kind, accepting nature. His wife, for television purposes, is snooty, beautiful, and hiding something that might actually make her a real person. Taylor should probably be the character we dislike, but K. Webster works her magic and gives Taylor a background readers cannot deny. There's chemistry between these two, no matter how they fight it, and the one night they share in the heat of the moment, and with alcohol's help, brings it all to the surface. I love that Harley recognizes it, though not as deeply at first, and that Taylor is the one fighting it. K. Webster breaks the rules with these two and it works perfectly. Then there's the terrorist attack that thrusts these two together, forced to survive the unknown. Things could have turned out so differently if Harley hadn't felt strong enough about Taylor to get her away from the life she thought she so desperately wanted.

Fast paced and action packed, Surviving Harley is an enticing novella that readers will devour and wish for more of. I felt the timeline jumped a bit, but reading this one only made me want to re-read The Road Back to Us, Harley's brother's book. It's panty-melting, jaw dropping, and perfectly K. Webster.

Okay, so here's the thing ... what did I just read?!?! lololololol

Surprisingly, this was a really great short read. I mean it is definitely OTT for sure, but I am probably the only person who would think that. I just don't seek out the craycray in my reading materials but sometimes they sneak in lol For this story, it made it very entertaining. I'm not going to go into a play by play of events that tumble out of this story because the blurb gives you just enough to know there's gonna be some crazy up in here and you should experience every moment just as I did ... totally blind LOL

There's no doubt that K. Webster can write great stories. She's proven that time and time again. And she likes to get twisty and dark with her stories as well as playful and sexy at times. She did ALL THAT and a box of crackers with this one! And it was good! So mad props to her for this little story because it was unexpected and it was entertaining and not so OTT that it didn't make sense.

Go forth and enjoy :)

I loved this short story! This was a great quick read with no shortage of heat!

I really enjoyed the dynamics between Harley and Taylor thrust into this immediate relationship. She is stubborn and resists him although he tries to get to know her. He eventually gives up and is resigned to let it go until circumstances push them together and the chemistry is off the charts!

I definitely recommend this hot little number if you want an afternoon read to see what happens with a burly tattooed outdoorsman and a posh city girl when their world gets hit with widespread catastrophe.

I have another author crush and her name is K. F-ing Webster!!!!

OMG, this quick fun, sexy, novella spin-off from another book which you don't need to read to enjoy this one was Bachelor meets Survivor/Naked & Afraid!! I was leery when I started it to the point I actually went back to read the blurb to see what I had gotten myself into with this ARC!! Well as I continued to DEVOUR this novella, I continued to fall deeply and madly in love with Harley and Taylor. Harley is the survivalist that agrees to marry Taylor for her TV show to increase ratings. Taylor is a TV show host that gets a rude awakening when the USA falls apart. Well the good thing for Taylor is that her fake husband, Harley, know how to handle himself. This may be a quick book but it is well rounded in the sexiness, funny, and a whole lot of heart.

Provided as an ARC for an honest and voluntary review.

This is the kind of story that scares me shitless. The plausible reality situations. And reading this after experiencing all that was 2020, well, let's just say that I had some serious anxiety while getting through it.

That said, at first I was not a fan of the heroine. But she surprised me and quickly became someone I could root for. Her past and present were heartbreaking, and I'm glad she got to find her HEA with Harley. I'm also excited to got back and find Bentley and Caroline's story.

Once again another winning read by one of my favorite authors!
I did not expect the story to be so good, so sexy and at times so funny!
The blurb only gave a taste of what the story was really about.
Taylor is a TV personality and agrees to marry on tv to boost her TV show ratings.
Harley was the lucky winner and groom to be. He needs the money and needs to forget his past.
Both agreed to a marriage at first sight type of deal for TV.
There was so much more to Taylor and Harley and for a quick read all I can say is it was a totally unexpected story and tantalizing read!
Theirs was a marriage arranged as a contest and committed to marry for 3 months. They couldn't count the days fast enough until the 3 months were up. Then 21 days before the 3 month mark something happened that changed EVERYTHING!!
Bachelorette meets Survival and I. Loved it!

"Can I put my Benjamin in your silk purse?"
It's a short quick read by Webster, whom I simply adore. I've read very very interesting, challenging, fantastic stories by her. This is a RomCom and it's not my very fave genre.
The story is about A survival Expert Harley and television Talk Show host Taylor. They get married
on TV, for TV and live together where their lives are open for the world to see, even their most intimate parts. A disaster has them fleeing the city to the wilderness and Harley helps Taylor , his wife , adapt to her new environment
It's a sweet sexy read. Written very cheekily.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

4.5* for originality

I really enjoy reading a book which pushes the boundaries and gives me something new - and this certainly achieved that by combining a reality show with a major terrorist incident. I don't really want to say more about the storyline, as you should come to it fresh for full impact.

That said, I would like to say that it is very engaging, and both Harley and Taylor are immensely believable and fascinating. Given the saturation of reality tv shows, I love the behind the scenes stories, which feed our slightly cynical views, and this does it in a very interesting way. And the we get to do the 'what-if' for a second time, as events progress.

This is a really enjoyable and thought provoking read - I recommend it to you.

Yes I am an Australian reader and no this is not available in the Au Kindle yet. But in my great desire to read this piece I came across Fiona Davenport's blog post on how to access the American Kindle.

Honestly my only complaint is that it was too short. I needed it to be longer because in the short time I binged read this I was so caught up in their world I totally ignored the smexy scenes. Which meant I had to read it again just to appreciate those scenes. The concept was so odd (reality show, cameras everywhere) yet not (an organisation planning to change the whole outlook of america) but it was soooo intruiging (how does these new lovers fare in this new world of no electricity?). Seriously in that short read I still got sucked into this world and I loved every minute of it. Survival stories have always been my thing and add alpha-romance to that then boom!

I'm not huge on novellas because I feel like they're so short that things don't get very well developed. But occasionally I find one that works out so well. Surviving Harley had good character development and connected easily to the reader. Their story had enough poignant moments that it felt full and real. Taylor was feisty and such a diva. But when she finally opened her heart to Harley he really balanced her out. He brought her down to reality and really allowed her to shine. Speaking of Harley....hot damn!! He is one serious alpha male! I loved that he was always so concerned with and protective of Taylor. Once he got her to let loose and trust him it was magic. Their moments together were steamy and delicious! Me thinks I need a mountain man of my own...

Taylor is a TV host, with a diva attitude. When she is talked into marrying a stranger for a TV show can she actually give Harley, the stranger she marries a real shot or will she constantly push him away?

Harley was burned by his cheating ex. He thought one way to get over her was to sign up for a TV show where he has to marry a stranger. Will marring Taylor help him get over his ex or will Taylor's attitude have him praying the 90 day married goes by fast.

This short, sexy read still had drama and action in it. Just when Harley and Taylor started a real relationship chaos breaks out.

I thought this was a hot little read and I really enjoyed it.

nys ona çok takılmadım çünkü bir iki kere kameraların çektiği vurgulandı sanırım yani iki üç cümle. ama sebebini anlayamadığım şey webster her şeyi harmanlamış.

şimdi adam survivalist tamam mı, sırf bunu yürütebilmek için ortaya siber terörist saldırısı çıkarıyor da ne gerek var, sen webster'sın, kaçır kızı falan öyle survivor olsun yani haksız mıyım? böyle hayatta kalmaya çalışırken biri iki klişe kötü şey oluyo da bilemiyom. yavan geldi bana.

I love the idea of a sexy tatted up survivalist. On a reality tv show?!? I had my doubts but K Webster makes it work.

This short, sweet and sexy novella is sure to be on your end of world checklist. Taylor may not know what she has in the beginning but there are plenty of women willing to fight her for Harley. ( Not all of them are readers.)

Enjoy this sexy little romp in your nice heated home with your working electricity. While it lasts...

Ahh! This was so much fun to read!

Reality show marries a couple in front of the nation. Then chaos ensues.

Hello, burly, bearded, brute, beautiful man that is named Harley.

Hello, gorgeous, girly, gorgeous lady that is named Taylor.

We get one passionate night and boom, literally.

“Last night was just the prologue. I’m about to give you the whole damn story.”
“... Is this a children’s story?”
“It’s an erotic thriller.”

Boom in them connecting.
Boom in them trusting.
Boom in them running for their lives from a boom.
Boom in them surviving.
Boom in them having a HEA.

Harley has now been listed on my top BBF! How could he not. He is a strong, possessive man who will stop at nothing to protect what is his. And I will glad let him protect me!

“This woman is so goddamned beautiful in this moment. Her hair is an awful mess. Makeup is smeared and gross. And she smells riper than a pig farm. But it’s the hopeful gleam in her eyes.”

Taylor is the soft interior that has a hard exterior to protect herself. And rightfully so for what she has been through.

“I mean, who doesn’t like falling asleep while being hugged. And with a nine-inch cock buried deep in your sulk purse. Nobody, that’s who.”

There were so many one liners and quick with that you cannot help but laugh and highlight the phrases! They were bounced off one another and just made the story have extra layers.

One line that had me laughing obnoxiously was this one between Taylor and her douchebag producer/PR “friend” Dec.

“Dec: I miss putting my Benjamin in your silk purse.”
“Me: More like your Abe Lincoln.”

This had me cracking up! I immediately messaged K and expressing so. This is just one of many and you honestly will get this and more.

We also get that element of danger that we have come to expect in books from K. It is one of the extra layers that I mentioned. It all comes together to make the read have a bit more of a punch to it.

“Shhh,” he whispers against my head. “I’ve got you now. Those fuckers are dead, baby….”

After reading this novella I continued my conversation with K and immediately asked her for a true survivalist romance/comedy/erotic read! So much potential! I felt this way because of the precursor that we got in Surviving Harley. You get a thrill of the unknown, the brute who puffs his chest in pride, the woman who melts, and the notion of them coming together (in more ways than one). And who would not want more of that?

Title: Surviving Harley
Author: K Webster

5 amazing stars

It's not the first time that I pick up one of K Webster's books- and each one has been as different from one another as can be. I love. Like really love it. To find an author that is diverse as that and still manage to make chills run down my spine in anticipation of what they'll write in the hopes that I'll keep reading is a rare talent indeed. So to read how Harley, the Canadian bearded man, married Taylor sight unseen in the name of a live show to up the network's (Taylor's job) ratings and then want to get to know the woman behind the tv screen had my heart fluttering. Even more so when he protected her against one the hardest crises that the United States could go through with his skills ~ the attack on the people and blackening it so that all that remains is your ability to survivre without what we currently take for granted and see some of the people turn into the worst kind of individuals had my blood freezing.

4.5 sexy dreams

Who would have thought that underneath the woman that kept fighting with the man she calls husband lies a vulnerable and hurt girl. One that had seen some of the worst kinds of things during her teen years in the hopes of being loved and taken advantaged of by people she thought cared about her - it broke my heart more than once. But Harley's willingness to dig deeper and never give up in finding the real woman rather than the one that is often portrayed in the tv show was heart warming. Surviving Harley was an amazing story that had me more than a little curious as to who Harley's brother and sister-in-law were and one thing is certain, I will be looking forward to reading their story!!
