Wedding Whisperer #3

My Wedding Date

Rate this book
** A new spin-off from the USA Today Bestselling Better Date than Never series!! **

Erica Conner is a carefree yoga instructor who is fine going solo to her friend’s wedding until her uptight ex’s mother tells her he’ll be attending with his new fiancée. When she pities Erica for not having a plus-one, the criticism triggers Erica to pretend her wedding date is the new guy from yoga class who has been very friendly toward her lately.

Josh Taylor overhears Erica claiming he’s her wedding date and decides to play along. While he impresses her nemesis by revealing he’s a successful corporate guy, Erica’s excitement about him sinks since her ex is a workaholic who never prioritized her. As Erica debates asking Josh out for real, he requests a shocking favor in exchange for being her wedding date: that she help him win back his ex-girlfriend.

Erica is disappointed but agrees to the deal. As she plays Josh’s girlfriend in front of his ex to make him seem like marriage material, she discovers he’s ambitious, but also caring and supportive. While on their fake dates, she’s laughing and having fun and finally comfortable being herself around a guy for the first time ever.

As their faux relationship grows, Erica loses her heart to Josh. And when he spontaneously kisses her she doesn’t know if it’s for show or for real. If Erica risks her heart and reveals her feelings to Josh, will he turn her down? Or will he be her wedding date for real, and maybe the love of her life?

Super Cute!

I was looking for a quick read, a lighthearted story to escape into for a little while. My Wedding Date was the perfect choice. Likable characters, fun plot and even though its a novella, the story felt well rounded and not rushed. Swoony kisses, laughs and just a good time. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

Content: Clean romance, just kisses. No language or violence.

Hilarious, romantic fun!

Susan Hatler never fails to bring a fantastic romantic comedy straight to my fingertips. A fake relationship is one of my favorite tropes right now and when Josh overhears Erica tell her ex's mother that he's her wedding date, the games begin...and they sure are entertaining and hilarious!

The characters and chemistry are all on point, leading to some funny and awkward moments, as well as some flirty banter and electrifying kisses. I especially loved Erica's grandma and Buddy, and the roles they play in magnifying this fake romance. I also loved catching a few glimpses of previous book characters at the wedding. This is a perfect afternoon reading escape!

Content: mild romance

I received an ARC from the author. Erica is a yoga instructor and she has Josh as a student. She has been wanting to ask him out for awhile. But when her ex’s mother comes in and tells her that her son is engaged she tells her that she is dating Josh. He hears this and being a good sport he plays the part of the boyfriend. He decided he would help Erica out if she helps him get back his girlfriend. Erica is too good at proving what a great guy Josh is and all too soon Mindy decides she wants him back. Only Erica doesn’t want to let him go but a deal is a deal. Or is it? This is once again a great story with fun characters and a great happy ending.

A quick funny, “swoozy”read that couldn’t put down! It’s told only from one perspective but that added to the angst and emotion of the book! I laughed so many times and swooned the others! I loved just how easy Josh and Erica got along! Their flirting turned into friendship easily and with that easy going relationship it was inevitable that more would soon follow! But with each spark of hope Erica has to remember the truth and that’s the hardest part of it all because the truth stings and she wants the lie!

I've been reading several books that have varying degrees of suspense in them lately. I've enjoyed them all and some even have some light sweet romance in them. But I was very excited to have a change of pace and pick up Susan Hatler's newest book. I always know when I pick up a book by her that I'm going to be thoroughly entertained, completely sucked into the story and having lots of sweet and swoony moments while reading about the main characters. Yep. This book delivered exactly what I was needing and wanting in a book. *happy sigh*

Erica had me laughing and giggling and almost snorting at a couple scenes. I pretty much had a goofy grin on my face the majority of this book. And the times I didn't, the scowl was definitely towards a couple characters that I did not care for! And I'm happy to say that they definitely got their comeuppance. Take that you stinky characters! You know who you are!

It was fun seeing Erica's friends from this series. I haven't read all of the books but the characters are seen throughout all the books. And they sure did bring some great friend moments into the story. I love reading books that have true groups of friends in them. They just make me so happy.

Now, Josh, oh Josh! All you out there who want a fun hero to read about, this is your book and your hero! This might be a relationship of convenience but let's not fool ourselves here, there are sparks flying. We just need Erica and Josh to notice them and step past the pretenses to discover there's something real and deeper than they keep brushing past.

I think I might need to just go back and reread it again right now. I loved these two a lot! I think this one might be up there in my top 3 favorites by this author. Her last release, Date to the Rescue, is up in the top 3 as well!

Content: Clean. Some kissing and nothing further.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

I know whenever I pick up a book by Susan Hatler I'm getting a fun, clean romance with a happy ending, and this one was no exception. Who wants to go stag to a friend's wedding where you're sure to see your stupid ex-boyfriend? No one. That's why Erica planned to ask the new hot guy in her yoga class to go with her. Plus hot yoga guy Josh is just the type to show off to your ex, his new fiancee and his snooty mother. You know what they say about best laid plans? Well, Erica's was more like a flying-by-the-seat-of-her-pants plan so you can guess how that went.

This was a super fun story of two people who had great chemistry and were perfect for each other but needed to wake up. One of them more than the other. I loved Josh, I mean what's not to love? The man was gorgeous, had a great job, and liked to play bingo with his grandma, AND your grandma!! And he adopted a dog from a shelter! I'm a cat person but I still found that adorable. Of course there were characters that weren't very likeable and tried to keep Erica and Josh apart, but that wasn't happening to our 'Honey Boo' and 'Pumpkin Poodle'. I won't give the ending away, but if it doesn't make your heart melt and your knees weak I don't know what would. I thought it was so swoony.

Another winner in this fun series. You don't have to read them all to enjoy them. Each can be a standalone. This is a clean romance with just kisses.

Erica Conner is a yoga instructor and for the most part, her life is okay. She would like Josh Taylor who is new to her class, to ask her out then her day would be better. What she was not expecting was her former boyfriends’ mother to walk in and them to have to put up with her constant rambling about her ex and his new girlfriend. To the point of saying that she and Josh are dating and he will be taking her to the upcoming wedding.
Josh coming out of the locker room overhearing the conversation comes up and saves her by acting like her boyfriend with funny pet names that they are calling each other. After the woman leaves, he asks her to help him make his ex-jealous in order to win her back. Plus, he will be her date for the wedding. When they go on the first fake date you realize were the real attraction is. The author though must first work out the details between the two characters. Each has a past that they each must make sure is gone and in the past.
Many funny moments, with Josh going with her to her Grams bingo game, her Gram mother is a real hoot. Along with the dog that Josh adopts, especially when he pushes the chair to get on it to get the food on the counter. Our dog does that also. I liked how she always was questioning herself and then when her ex came to her she repeatedly was telling him, no but he was so dense. She also liked what her mother had to say as well. This was a very good story and very much worth the read. Liked all of the characters. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at

Button bear and Honey boo find love!

This was a super fun story. The books that I’ve read from this author are always full of humor, irony, sarcasm, and palm to the forehead moments. This book was no exception. It was funny all throughout and yet had the moments of peace and clarity that keep you thinking about it long after you read the last page. I loved Josh as a character and he truly was hero material. How he immediately played along with Erica’s faux pas and was there for her when she really needed him. Priceless! Erica was cool because despite her insecurities she transformed in this story to be her own heroine. How she owned her mistakes and grew from them was inspiring. It’s hard to eat humble pie but she did it like a boss.
Great story! Each book is stand alone, but there are lots of characters in this story that have appeared in other books by this author so you get like a “where are they now” kind of update on previous couples. Even if you haven’t read the others you can appreciate this story without feeling lost. I love reading about this group of friends and I want more!!! Can’t wait for the next book.
Rating: G, clean, fun, and flirty!

Funny, sweet, romantic. Erica has been attracted to Josh, who is always in the front row of the yoga class she teaches. When she needs a date for a wedding that her ex and his fiancée will also be attending, she tells a fib says Josh is her date. Josh agrees with a stipulation, that she help get his ex-girlfriend back. But the more time Erica spends with him the more she falls for him. And then it looks like her trying to make Josh look more like marriage material for his ex is working, and she might end up with no date for the wedding of her friend after all. I enjoyed this book. Quick read. It’s about a yoga instructor Erica who was getting ready to ask Josh out who takes her class, when her ex’s mother starts being snotty to her. Erica fibs and says she is bringing a date to a society wedding that her ex Ross will be at with his fiancé. Josh overhears the conversation and steps in to help her is she will help him win back his ex. This was such a great romantic comedy. I can’t wait to read more in this series. What a fun story! The characters made me feel like I could be friends with them. Erica and Josh make a really cute couple. They always seemed to have a really good time when they got together. The miscues and mix-ups made me laugh. I loved the whole storyline. Including Josh adopting the Golden Retriever Buddy gave a feel-good feeling. The wedding vows Erica's friend Kaitlin and her husband exchanged at the wedding touched my heart. I enjoy author Susan Hatler's voice and this is a great example of it.

My Wedding Date by Susan Hatler a funny and refreshing five-star read. This was number three in the wedding whisperer series and I can attest that it can be read as stand-alone as I haven’t read any of the others and I adored this one. I have read a couple by this author before but not for a while, I see a binge of the back catalogue in my future. Erica was so nice and sweet, but clumsy as well. Josh just made me smile, but special mentions go to Gram and Buddy for their supporting character roles, well played folks, well played. This is a sweet read that will whisk you away. Pick it up and forget your drama for a short while, you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Erica a yoga instructor runs into her ex's Mother after a yoga class. She lies and says she has a date for an upcoming wedding and says it is the name of one of her students Josh Taylor who incidentally overhears the conversation.....So Josh comes up to the two and says of course he is her new boyfriend and date for this wedding. This book was so much fun, honey boo and Grams....what is not to love! I would have loved an epilogue but it was still a great book!

Erica and Josh’s story is so sweet and funny. There are so many chances where each could be honest about their feelings for each other, but then their story wouldn’t be half as sweet and funny to read. I loved reading this book and rooting for their HEA.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story of Erica and Josh. There were misunderstandings and funny scenes throughout. I thought that they were a good match and if they had just talked to each other honestly things would have been easier for the two of them, I especially liked the scenes with Erica’s grandmother. I would definitely recommend this book.

This is book three of The Wedding Whisperer series and the main characters in this story are Erica Conner and Josh Taylor. Erica is fed up of her mother wanting to know when she will find someone suitable after being such a disappointment in choosing to be a yoga instructor. She has a friend’s wedding to go to and soon finds out her ex is coming with his fiancée, and his ex’s mother Cynthia, is gloating about what a wonderful position she has and her college pedigree, as if that is all that is important in life! Erica has been getting some stomach tingling sensations from a new client in her early morning yoga class, but she isn’t sure if he is just being friendly or is flirting a bit with her! When he overhears Erica telling Cynthia that she doesn’t need to set her up with a date for the wedding, that she already has one of her own. She is asked who and ends up pointing out Josh, not realising he has actually overheard everything she said. He plays along with her and after Cynthia has gone, they agree to Josh going to the wedding as her date, if she will repay him by helping him to get his girlfriend back.
Erica doesn’t want a corporate type for a boyfriend, after all the hassle and lack of common decency she felt she got from her ex. He was always working and work was always more important than her, even as her grandfather was dying and he refused to give up a day on his work retreat, to support her! All she had seen of Josh was him rocking a pair of sweats and a tee, but he came out of the changing rooms in an expensive and very smart suit, ready for work. She has no idea of where he works and what his position is, never mind what college he might have gone to, she just gets butterflies when he is around! She may not be ecstatic that he wants to get back with his ex-girlfriend, but at least it will get her mother off her back and all of her mother’s snotty friends like Cynthia. She had been working up the courage to ask him out for an actual date and to get to know him better, but at least with their fake dates, getting to know each other, can give her a bit of a thrill and some dreamlike scenarios. I loved the bingo session with her gran and the silent auction for a great cause.
Josh wants her to prove he is actually marriage material to his ex, but she finds out he is very caring and easy to get to get along with. Every time they touch, it is almost electric and she is falling for him, even if he doesn’t really want her! When they share a kiss, she can’t tell whether that is for show or for real and she has to put her feelings aside, as the wedding comes closer. Can she reveal the truth to her mother her ex, or will she have to rely on a fake relationship to keep face? I finally figured out the series title meaning and there is definitely a really deep conversation towards the end of the book, which makes you think about what is really important in love and life! Romance stories with a HEA ending and a message of taking a chance rather than never ever having. I love this series, with realistic people and relationship problems, with a bit of a twist at the end. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have feely given my own opinion of the book above.

Erica Conner is caught up in a dilemma in her own life: her mother and her mother’s country club friends believe she should behave in that Stepford-daughter way, and her own friends believe she should just be her Erica-spontaneous self! The book starts with her ogling Josh Taylor, a new student in her yoga class. Before she works up the nerve to approach him, a friend of her mother’s and the mother of Erica’s “perfect” ex, literally gets in her face – and let the meet-cute commence!

I laughed so hard at the pet names Erica and Josh come up with, Sweetie Bee, Pumpkin Poodle. OMG, it is hilarious. For me, though, the meat of the book rested around both Erica and Josh coming to terms with their pasts and individual self-worth’s before they open themselves up to each other and get their HEA. Some of the other characters are easy to dislike (can you hear me, Mindy???) and her friends are kah-razee (in a good way)! But these two were made for one another.

Another fun story

My rating is 4.5 stars

When confronted by her ex’s sharp-tongued mother about who her date for an upcoming wedding will be, Erica, from fear of appearing inadequate, latches onto the closest guy and lies.

In a series of misunderstandings, Josh and Erica go on dates in an attempt to help him win his ex back and to help Erica save face at the upcoming wedding.

In this is a sweet, fun, and romantic story, Erica learns the important lesson that she doesn’t have to live up to anyone’s expectations but her own.

This is a very cute story with lots of funny moments. Erica gets herself into an awkward situation, but her crush rescues her and agrees to go to a wedding with her. But he asks for help with a project of his own. What follows is a lot like the old screwball movies, and I laughed all the way through. Erica and Josh have very good chemistry and are really cute together, even when they are trying to be only friends. They were fairly well developed characters for a shorter book. There are some cameos by characters from previous books which were fun but not distracting.
I meant to read just a couple of chapters one evening, but I ended up reading it all the way through because it was so much fun. For those who want to know, this is a clean read (no sex, no swearing) with a low amount of angst. I recommend this for when you are looking for an upbeat, light read that will leave you smiling.

This is the third book in the The Wedding Whisperer Series. This is a really cute story where Erica is shamed into getting a plus one for her friends wedding . She ends up with Josh from her yoga class. The fake date situation tends to get interesting when he has her make his ex jealous. A spontaneous kiss makes her wonder is fake is real or is it for show. This is a really cute read that is quick, light and overflowing with chemistry. The characters are interesting, even the naughty ones. Although this is 3rd in the series, it can be read as a standalone. This is a short freebie on Amazon. The author has a lot of series already written.

So, the tropes are miscommunication & fake dating. I liked the heroine a lot & by the end of the book she's learning to stand up to her mom's friend & her ex fiance's mother, who is a bully.
I liked the hero, but most of the problem with miscommunication lies with him. He wants to get back with his ex fiance, but decides he likes the heroine better. Instead of TELLING her that, he waffles around. Very irritating.

So, it's short & free. I'm not really interested in anything else from this author.

Erica teaches yoga and Josh is in one of her classes. She realizes she needs a date to a wedding that is coming up and get Josh to play her fake boyfriend. Her ex and his new girlfriend are also going to the wedding. In getting to know Josh, she finds he is the perfect guy for her, from strengths to his kindness to animals, but he asked her help in getting back with his ex. The characters are terrific, with great backstories and intense feelings. The storyline has so many fun situations and the banter easily falls between them. Timing in this book is part of the fun and the romance parts jump all over the place. Loved the situation where they realize what they have with each other. Great ending.

I really liked Erica and Josh's story. This story should remind us that communication is very important in life. This story has awesome characters, some romance, some ups and downs, a lot of misunderstandings, and a great ending. I read this book straight through. I couldn't put it down. Thank you, Susan Hatler for another great story. I'm looking forward to the next one. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did. I am always up for one of Susan Hatler's books. These are ones that I can sit down with and escape away to another world for a few hours. I love the way that she always has some humor along with her romance. I think that is what we all need right now is a little humor with everything going on in the world. Great escape from reality!

Erica is a yoga instructor and has been eyeing a certain male in her class but has not had the nerve to talk to him just yet. When her ex's mother asks her about her wedding date for her son's wedding, Erica politely tells her that Josh, the guy from her class, is going to be her date. Josh happens to be in the building still and overhears Erica tell her ex's mother that he is going to be her date and he decides to just go along with it. Why not, right?

So, now that Erica is talking to Josh and they have a date. Josh makes a deal with Erica that she will help him try to win his ex back. Erica is determined to make Josh look good and make his ex jealous and realize that she should not have let Josh go. Although Erica is not fond of trying to get Josh back with his ex, a deal is a deal and she is going to hold up her end of the deal!

We get to go on a few outings with Josh and Erica and you can tell automatically that things just click with them. The relationship is so easy. What is Erica going to do if Josh really gets back with his ex? You will enjoy the ride with Josh and Erica. This couple is so easy to like and Susan Halter makes them just so fun, as she does with all her couples! Great read that you will devour in one sitting!

Sweet and Clean Romantic Comedy
This is a sweet and clean romantic comedy about a falling for a fake date. While not much about the storyline is surprising, the way it is done kept me smiling and giggling the entire book. I really enjoyed the humor not being based entirely on slap-stick pratfalls. There is a touch of clumsiness but most of the humor is based elsewhere. I have always enjoyed this author's writing and was not disappointed with this story. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprout and this is my honest review.

Erica has to go to a wedding where her ex will be with his fiancée. She has been crushing on Josh and tells her ex's mom that she is going with him after she tries to set Erica up. Jake overhears her and agrees to be her date if she will help him win his ex back. It was ironic the real reason he agreed. I loved this book by Susan Hatler.
