It can never be said that NYT & USA Today Bestselling author Sidney Bristol has had a ‘normal’ life. She is a recovering roller derby queen, former missionary, and tattoo addict. She grew up in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents. Sidney has lived abroad in both Russia and Thailand, working with children and teenagers. She now lives in Texas where she splits her time between a job she loves, writing, reading and fostering cats.
Sidney is represented by Nicole Resciniti of the Seymour Agency.
Taylor is a live-in nanny in a criminal's house for her half-sister - and she's being chased by her past, but she does not want the help of Ian in evading it.
A quick, moderately entertaining read that wasn't very memorable except for the easy camaraderie between the hero and heroine, though I am unsure if I believed that they loved each other.
You got it for free and you think a handsome guy and 'alpha prince' - why not, a few hours of dirty/guilty pleasure.
No, leave it.
Listen to the other part of your brain.
It is my advice, save these hours for another book. It doesn't have to be high literature but even for dirty/guilty pleasure, there are boundaries.
PS There weren't too much sex scenes or something like that. But there were too many weak points, e.g. the story should have had to be on a hundred pages, at most, the mafia stuff was too much unrealistic. I was bored and I was able to get to about 30%, the next 30% I skimmed, the last 40% I wasn't even able to skim.
This is a romantic suspense novel (very) loosely based on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs -- if Snow White's late father and evil stepmother were mafiosos, Prince Charming was a security specialist, and the seven dwarfs were French bulldog puppies.
Taylor is running from the mob, not knowing who to trust when her FBI contact turned out to be mob-connected. She meets security consultant Ian, who wants to help her if she'll only trust him. Plus there's a sweet little girl, a bunch of messy puppies, and a lot (too many) mafia henchmen. There's even an apple, a mysterious coma, and true love's kiss. Without the Snow White analogies it would just be a mildly entertaining romantic suspense novel, but that really does add to it, and makes me want to read the rest of the series.
Sometimes its hard to find a good book. Yeah, some parts might be fun or hot or interesting but overall, it might just be meh. I am happy to say this book ticks all the boxes for a good book.
First, it's a great mafia retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Sure, the dwarves are puppies and the apple doesn't put her to sleep, but it's all there. The handsome prince is of course there to help the rescue of the princess from her evil stepmother. It all works too.
Second, the sex is pretty hot. And interesting. And well-written. Nothing took me out of the zone while reading the sex scenes so that's a big plus.
Lastly, the characters are amazing. I loved Taylor and Ian individually and as a couple. I really got behind the two of them and rooted for them the whole time. No one was overly whiney and everyone acted like an adult throughout the book which of course is a really good thing.
I did find the book a bit slow in some parts though but that is the only major thing I have against the book.
I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the princes in the little group and seeing how the romances play out. I will definitely read from other series by the author now too.
Alpha Prince is the first book in Sidney Bristol's newest series Twisted Royals that came out in February. This is a brilliant twist on Snow White, which I am grateful for I don't see very many of those. I love Ian Kelly every time he spoke I hear a Liam Neeson like voice speaking in my head. Ian is everything Taylor needed but in no way ever expected to find, his Irish, in law enforcement, and every bit the Prince the media painted him; but Taylor doesn't want to be the damsel in distress. Taylor learned the hard way she only had herself to rely on.
Ian couldn't stop thinking about the one who got away, it really was just supposed to be a one night stand but after she just left and it bugged him that she left and he hadn't been able to find her. After all the hype with the media and the dancing princes hubbub Ian was supposed to be laying low, it was just going to be a simple security consult however the suspicious character that hired him as received extortion threats and he wants Ian to stay on for two weeks to figure it out. Ian should say no, Zain will kill him if he doesn't, but.... Taylor is there. Taylor is the one who spirited out after an intense and passionate night together. Ian knows she's hiding something and he wants to help he took the job on pretense to help Taylor. Taylor is on the run from her stepmother, and the mob family she did everything in her power to avoid. Taylor's stepmother is very ambitious and perceives that Taylor is in her way and wants her dead. Taylor wants to go on the run again handle this herself, Ian wants it over he wants to help and after two attempts on her life she is finally ready to accept his help, very reluctantly.
Overall, the Snow White aspects just added to the charm of the book. Seven miniature french bulldog puppies, the evil stepmother, the huntsman, and the apple just perfect. It is an action packed, exciting, and as always super erotic. So hot!
Oh has this been a thrilling read! First you meet a young women who happens to be part of a mafia family but doesnt want to be. Find out she is living under a different name, as a nanny to a young girl who happens to be her half sister and the man her father. (Both her father and sister have no idea that she is related to them) They have seven dogs all named after the seven dwarfs. A little bit of a Snow White tale perhaps?
Taylor met a man named Ian at a bar and spent the night with him only to leave before he awoke. After some threatening letters are received by her father, he hires a security personal to come take a look. Does it not end up to be IAN! Well after they try to kill her twice, Ian takes her and goes to hide her. She finds out her evil stepmother has married her cousin and injured him leaving him to die unless she hands over the files that are missing. Ian saves him from the house but in the process Taylor gets shot. At the hospital her cousin, Vito, sneaks her in an apple to eat since she was told no food after her live saving surgery. While he is being questioned by the cops, a man comes in and gives her an injection which puts her into a coma. They find the half eaten apple and wonder if it was poisoned. Now you are probably wondering why they didnt just call the cops? Well, there is an accomplice in the FBI working with her evil stepmother!
So much happens in this book and you are just going to have to read it to get all the answers.

I considered giving this book 4 stars but ultimately, I felt it deserved 5. As usual, Sidney Bristol has created complex, relatable characters stuck in extraordinary circumstances. Even secondary characters’ motivations were explored. The tense plot did not go in the direction I had expected, repeatedly surprising me with unpredictable events.
I had only one complaint, and it's one that had me considering deducting a star. Dialogue. I could not decipher Ian's Irish accent. At first, I tried to read more slowly, sounding out each word. It didn't work. The missing letters and apostrophes were nonsensical to me. Less than halfway into the book, I decided that I would enjoy the book more if I just read his words as if they said what he meant to say, rather than trying to sound them out and then translate them. This meant that I didn't hear his voice, but it made for much easier reading. As always, I recommend this book because I feel Sidney Bristol's talents as an author far outweigh any shortcomings she has as a dialogue expert. No, she is not Mark Twain, but I think it's safe to say she wasn't striving for that anyway.
Another tale that moves from sex scene to sex scene. At least there's a plot that goes along with it. This time, it's a PI/security consultant who takes up with a woman who has secrets to hide. Naturally, it's love at first sight—or at least sex at first sight.
Things progress from there to the discovery that this woman isn't who she claims to be, but is hiding out. From whom? Why, the mafia, and her evil stepmother who is out to kill her. She, however, has evidence that can bring the whole mob syndicate down. And the handsome stranger with the Irish brogue that she met in a bar and bedded right off the bat is there to rescue her from evil stepmom and herself, apparently.
Yeah, there are more involvements than just these, but I'd have just as hard a time making them believable as the author does.
The book can use an editor to correct grammar issues as well. But then, if all you're interested in is the sex scenes, you probably won't notice.
This series opener puts a contemporary spin on the Snow White fairy Tale. Taylor Carter is a mafia princess on the run from her evil mafia queen stepmother. Julia Lucchese has eliminated every who stood in her way to the top in her own little empire. The only one standing in her way on her upward climb is her wayward stepdaughter, who has disappeared. Julia has her best people on it, however Ian Kelly works for Aegis Group and has taken a short term assignment reviewing the security of a man who has received a threat. But once there, he discovers a woman he met two weeks earlier in a bar. A woman who ran out on him before morning and who has owned his thoughts since then. But where does she fit in with the trouble he sees brewing? And is she truly the innocent his heart believes her to be?
Taylor Lucchese is a young woman who has become a teacher (she is the daughter of the head of the Lucchese mob family)but she is hiding out from her step mother Julia. Julia wants her and her cousin dead so she can take over the family. Taylor was told by her mother at the age of ten who her biological father is and when she ran she went there(not telling him she is his daughter) and takes a job caring for her right year old sister Stacy. She has a one night stand with Ian and leaves before he wakes, only to meet him again when he is hired to do security work for George (her real father). He calls in him from some of the guys he works with while trying to protect Taylor and Stacy. They have mob, bad FBI agent, evil step mother,so many murders. But though it all a love builds for these three and seven puppies. Really Good Book.
This book had potential but somewhere along the line the author lost sight of the story. Too instant lust and love on Ian’s side and too much repetitiveness and indecision on Taylor’s end. Like okay we get you can’t trust anyone and you’re going to leave. Make up your mind I put the book down several times. The book had good highlights with naming the pups after the 7 dwarfs and the story behind why Ian and friends became princes. And Julia the stepmother. What annoyed me the most either he was Irish or an American because the author couldn’t keep his dialect intact and often reverted to plain old english. It was a cluster of ideas that needed editing and organization. Disappointed!
Taylor & Ian’s story started a little slowly for me, but it was interesting... It was a nice twist compared to the typical mafia stories I’ve read.
Ian’s accent was annoying for me a bit... The author often wrote out exactly how he was speaking (ex. by dropping the end consonants of words, like stoppin’ and longin’ even words like an’). However, this wasn’t always consistently done. There would be entire paragraphs written this way, then later he would speak and the consonants weren’t dropped. The author could have just described his accent without changing the spelling of the words...
Despite this, it was still an interesting story to read.
I read this story as a part of the Dangerous Firsts - A Collection of First-In-Series Novels boxset...
I am totally a person who judges a book by its cover. I always - always - pick books whose covers get my attention. A lot of times, I won't read books with certain things on the cover - like people. But I've come to get over that.
However, this book cover, looked cheeeeeeesy - idk why. But I read it - and I am sooo glad I didn't let the cover turn me away. This was such a good book. I enjoyed reading it. h - is on the run from her family H - looks into security issues for people / companies and assesses threats.
They had a one night stand then H shows up at her work and they get to know one another. Her family has found her and now they are working together to try and make things right. She pushes him away - but he doesn't go any where.
I've read a few books by Sidney Bristol now & am therefore certain to always get an enjoyable read that moves along at a great pace. Something else I love is that while her books form a series, they are not dependent on each other, meaning you are free to jump into the series whenever you like. This book was fun. As soon as I found out about Taylor's background I had concerns, as I'm not a fan of mafia-style relationship stories. I didn't need to worry. This was very much good guy vs bad guy & came to a satisfying conclusion. This isn't my favourite book by this writer, but I'm definitely going to continue reading.
It's a good thing the book is fiction, otherwise I would make a list of things wrong with it. Taylor. Someone please smack some sense into her. Does she really believe she can handle Julia on her own? If that was the case, why run in the first place. Ian. P.I./Bodyguard for hire. Keeps after Taylor about what issues are happening at the house he has been hired to investigate. To bad she's not honest. Takes so much time in the book for honesty to come out. Then it's not even full honesty. When she finally does actually tell him the whole truth she does something stupid and almost winds up dead. Smack her. Of course in the end they wind up with their happily ever after.
Ian works for a security company and is given an assignment to find out why a wealthy man is getting threats. It is suppose to be a two week assignment, think again. When he arrives at the house he sees Taylor. Him and Taylor had a one night stand. Taylor is not happy about him being there as he might discover her background. Ian knows that Taylor is hiding something and is trying to get her to trust him. Twice someone tries to kill Taylor and Ian is very frustrated with her for not telling him the story. She finally does and Ian helps her. The story is also about how their relationship develops.
This is the first in this series and is a good start Taylor a young good looking woman with a past embroiled in a mafia family meets Ian a tough Alpha male private investigator in a bar and has a one night stand. Ian can't get her out of his mind and ends up working a case and finds her again. Her past has put her in danger and Ian and his buddies are the ones to step in and save her. It's a good novel with lots to keep your interest and plenty of hot alpha men. A good read.
Alpha Prince : A Modern Fairy Tale (Twisted Royal s Book One) By Sidney Bristol a
Alpha Prince was quiet an interesting book Taylor and Ian our main characters were really two unlikely people to meet a d fall in love. Taylor came from a mob family and Ian was a private investigator with a military background who worked in a bar. I found the mafia part of this story very fascinating an a little scary. This book was intriguing, interesting, well written and held my attention. I think it's a great read for mature reader's.
Taylor looked like Snow White but she has more skeletons in her closet than a city wide Day of the Dead celebration.
She's a Mafia princess on the run from a hit man, and her boss( who happens to be her biological father, not that he knows) just hired a security specialist to go over his piss poor system. Ian , the security specialist, wants her, she wants to stay hidden, her stepmother wants her dead, her biological father wants to protect his crooked deals, none of them know what the others are up to, and the action is just beginning.
Taylor is a mafia princess who's tried her best to get away from that kind of life. She steals a bunch of files and runs to her biological fathers home in Seattle. Thing is, he doesn't know she's his daughter. She finds that she has a half sister and her father is in to something shady. Ian is a security specialist, hired by her father because of some threats. Taylor knows they're aimed at her but Ian decides to stick around to help her. After a great deal of trouble, they get their HEA.
I didn’t like it. FL was stubborn as all heck and her reasons and justification was just not a great take for her. ML is a try hard for her and his skills are overshadowed by the FL’s absolute thickness. If anything FAntagonist was like a big mood but her end was terrible and lacked a true satisfying end. Overall wouldn’t read again. Smut was low tier at best. There was too many Batman-esque brooding characters to even try to like. I think it really needed a singular perspective to tie it all off
I recieved a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Omg I soooo love what Sidney Bristol has done with this kick a** retelling of Snow White with a hunky and adventurous twist!
This book is full of action from the very beginning and there's never a dull moment. The characters are well written and before you know it, you'll find yourself fully immersed in the story and attached to the characters.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest opinions. When you have two of my favourite words in the title you know the story is going to be great. The plot had substance, loveable characters and unexpected discoveries. I fell in love with Ian and Taylor and judging by Sidney's storyline I can't wait to read about the other princes in this series. I can honestly say I recommend this book.
Ian and Taylor have great sex and baby it is in the bathroom, the bedroom, in the kitchen!! Oh my!! I wonder what it would feel like to have wine, sherry, bourbon, Irish beer drank from every inch of your body!?! What would sex be like with an Irish wise guy? I wonder if I could have the guts and strength that Taylor showed!?! Julia must have been born l e brick shy of a full load! Where will Sydney put Vito?
I absolutely loved this book. You have a born into the life style strong independent woman who wants nothing do with the mafia. A man who is an ex cop working for a private security who wants to be prince charming and save the girl. She wont let him do any saving if she can absolutely help it. I love multiple povs in it. The spice is so great. I would definitely recommend!!!
Alpha Prince by Sidney Bristol......This book was so good I could not put it down. I felt like I was reading a modern day fairytale like in your childhood, but sexier and lots of action for an adult. I enjoyed watching the story unfold for Ian and Taylor. This is a must read, so make sure to get this Book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Taylor and Ian made a great couple and it was so much fun to watch their relationship grow. Their chemistry was off the charts. A modern day fairy tale with lots of action, drama, suspense and surprises. Well written with great characters. Another winner for Sydney Bristol. I loved this book. I received an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review.
This is the story of Taylor who was born into a Mafia family and tries to put all those ties behind her. When her mother and then her father dies Taylor runs for her life when she realises her stepmother wants her dead. This is when she meets Ian Evans a PI / Bodyguard. Their story is not an easy one fraught with danger will they both survive ? Gripping story i loved it couldn't put it down.
Born on the wrong side of the law Taylor's dangerous life could be tbe death of her. Danger follows her around like a foul mist. Could Iris Ian be the prince to save this damsel in distress. A modern twist on Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Danger, romance ... a good read
