Freaky kids abound! Paranormal is taking over the Princes and MC. Christian learns, loves and leads us into the new generation of Protectors. He does it the only way he knows, Badass. This is a continuation of the MC and Princes of Prophecy Contemplating ending the constant barrage of death and destruction he's seen his whole life brings Christian closer to his family. With Dakota's help, Christian learns and uses his ancestors to control and manage his visions and abilities. Gaining peace for the first time in his life still leaves him lonely. With all he's been gifted, the ability to be touched is not among them. Dean thought using her ability to help the police find a killer was a good thing, until she realized she was now the hunted. Losing her parents, in an explosion meant for her, she finds her way to the Princes and a man that not only protects and understands her but can hold her too. Christian has his work cut out for him. Showing Dean, the Princes and the MC what all in means isn't easy when it's wrapped around 'freaky kid' abilities. This is the story of Christian and Dean.
L. Ann started with the Baxters and followed that with multiple series and genres. While her books feature paranormal, FBI, ex-military and Badass Bikers, L. Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world's wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference. The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly. That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their town and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, Team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal. L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers. With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud. Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels. Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet
Loved seeing Christian getting his HEA with his little pixie. This was a great book...and after seeing the sneak peak at Ricky's book I CAN NOT wait for that book lol!
Through Brantley and Taylor's books we got a peek into what may have been going on with Christian. In this book, we see just how deep badass runs with Christian. More than that, we also see the flaws and cracks that were evident from the earlier Princes of Prophecy books.
Christian had a raw deal. When you can see so much, how much does it suck when no one can see you? worse, what about when no one can touch you? Thank goodness for the Blackhawk family, Dean and Dakota.
I do have concerns about some tendencies in LB that mirror Pres. But I'm glad he'll pull his head out of his a** faster. It helps to be a reader and having VP as a dad.
Overall, I still love this series and am excited about the next one.
"Christian" (The Protectors Book 1) by L Ann Marie is a great read. I loved Christian and Dean's story. This story has drama, action, passion, the freaky kids and all their abilities, MC life, Brotherhood, entertaining characters, and more. This book made me laugh, cry, get mad, yet I still loved it. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next! Recommend to all fans of romance, and MC.
L.Ann Marie, combines paranormal and bikers, to produce one of the best books you will read this year. This is a fantastic read that keeps your attention from the first page the till last page
I've been dying to read Christian's story! I'm reading in order! Loved that he finally found someone to call his own and how awesome is Dean? Love this series!!
I first started by reading MC: Knight and then realised that I wanted the whole story and that started with the Baxter's .. although the first books didn't have a lot of crossovers they did set the scene for what is to come in the other books as the stories move along so their importance to the series' as a whole cannot be overstated
I have just read the 22 books to date back to back in the order published on the author's website and decided to review them as a whole. I really don't think they stand well as stand alones as there are too many common threads, too much history and too much character crossover for that so it really is one (very) long story over a very long period of time with each series concentrating on a particular character group but including all of the others (except for the initial Baxter books which didn't have a lot of MC action but did set the scene for a lot of what is to come).
I loved every book although of course some more than others but i am giving an overall five star rating. My biggest issue was that sometimes (often) i found it difficult to be sure exactly who was talking and had to reread sections to try to work it out. I think that perhaps what the author is seeing in her head moves a bit too fast to translate well to the written word for some of us (something like the thoughts of some of her characters - you need to read the stories to understand my thought process here!!)
My other issue was keeping my head straight with the cast of thousands (and this is not an exaggeration) ... with each story building on to what has come before and what will come to be and with most characters continuing to play a place in each consecutive story I found myself constantly stopping to think - now who was that, whose child is that, whose partner is that???? but even amongst that confusion I loved the relationships and the strengths they provided.
The author has an amazing imagination and has brought to the table a fantastic story that i will continue to read and at some point will def read again. I have always loved and had an interest in native american philosophy and also in paranormal and psychic connections and love the way these are ingrained into the books as the stories unfold.
Although there were some things that caused me slight annoyances I cannot deny that as a whole this fits as one of the best series i have enjoyed. my thanks to the author for providing such a thoroughly engaging tale
I took a bit longer reading this one for a couple of reasons ... firstly it was very long & secondly it required a lot more concentration. One disappointment for this book was that I felt Dean was a little underrated and didn't get enough face time in the story. her importance to Christian and his well being can't be overlooked and just didn't quite play as a strong enough role for me. She seemed almost like background and this book played more to the importance of the ongoing drama than the strong romantic link apparent in the other books
Totally awesome!!!! A much better understanding about Christian and all he went through. This book is full of surprises. The cover on this one is my favorite!
I absolutely loved this book! It almost made me cry which is a huge thing!
Christian has had to live his life without touch. Being a freaky kid he is already different but the no touch rule makes it much worse. Life without touch is extremely lonely. Now that he has the training he so desperately needed as a kid he is close to his family again. It helps but there are many dreams like marriage and kids that he cannot have. Now with people still questioning his purpose and his skills his existence may have just become much more lonely.
Dean is a reader. Her family always had a ten second rule for contact. When she tries to use her skills to help the police save lives she becomes hunted by those who do not understand and believe she is evil. After losing her parents her and her sister go on the run. Her existence is lonely and the few she could confide in become even fewer. How are you supposed to live without touch and only your sister to confide in. She wants love and a family but it doesn't seem to be part of her story.
Follow these two amazing people on a crazy ride of trying to find love!
Wow...another amazing book from L Ann Marie. As we've been on this journey with this author from the beginning, the characters become almost real. To watch them grow up and develop it's like a proud parent reading how they've turned out and to become the most amazing group of young men and women. This book is how Christian develops into the most amazing Protector for not only the Princes but also the Mc and the Reservation. He leads his protectors and guides them on their journey along with him. At times his story is heartbreaking in that it was a very lonely journey Unable to sustain much human contact he became almost isolated as a young boy and later a man. When he finds his 'one' he finally finds a peace and acceptance he's been missing. Although this is only the start of his journey into who he becomes. It takes you on a rolllercoaster of emotions and beware Kleenex may be needed. Although this is the start of a new series it follows on from the Princes of Phrophecy. I can't stress highly enough just what an amazing series of books these are. I highly recommend it.
Loved Christian's story. A very emotional read for me. I spent most of this story with my heart hurting, sad, angry and outraged on Christian's behalf. The way Prez and Pres treated him made me wonder who they were. Not the men I have respected through the series. I loved Dean. She and Christian are so good together. Her child-like delight and open heart made me smile. I liked her sister too. It seems she may have a Prince of her own. I am happy for the KC young adults. That they are finally being recognized for their abilities. That they are being given a chance to show what they are capable of. I was happy by the end to see the Pres and Prez that I respect and love. Can't wait for Ricky an Elizabeth, at least I hope it's Elizabeth, story. I can't think of a better Old Lady for the future MC Pres.
I absolutely loved this book! There were tears, anger, relief, and joy. I feel like the whole series came together in this book. So much was explained and tied together from the Protectors to the Princes to the MC. Have to be honest, Pres was pissing me off but unity and loyalty is in their blood. Loved the ending and absolutely can not wait to read Ricky's story!
I loved reading "Christian". Had a hard time putting it down. I love those kids. Reading the very first book of the MC series then the Prince's series, I've grown attached to those "freaky kids" and how they have grown up. Christian had a hard time growing up, thinking everyone thought he was a mixed up kid. Christian spent years at the reservation. He proved them wrong. Christian felt he would never fall in love and be able to have a woman he could touch and be touched. Dean came in his life, thanks to his nephew, Mucimi. I don't want to give anymore away of this story. YOU have to read this book.
This book rocked my emotions more than the others that came before. I have long been a fan of Christian. I watched as he pulled away from everyone to live a solitary life. I thought I understood why but it was so much worse than I could have guessed. I must have gone through an entire box of Kleenex reading this book. He and Dean are so good together! Both are broken but they put each other back together. I absolutely loved this book!
I seriously love these books! The author has a way of just grabbing me and not letting go until I finish the whole thing! I was so excited when I found out this book was going to be Christian's book. He is a character I've always wandered about with how he sees so much but always seemed so lonely. He really just got me feeling everything in this book. His loss in this book (sorry no spoilers) literally had me in tears. If you haven't read any of these books you really need to because this author is just amazing and you will not be disappointed.
What can I say? This book was awesome just like the rest, I was happy, cried, and so stinking mad at certain parts I almost lost a phone. This book shows what happens what a small child is isolated for abilities that he has and what happens to him as a man. Ive followed these books since the beginning, and Im so proud that everything is okay. L ann is an amazing author and these books have yet to disappoint, im chewing nails waiting on Jeremy's and Jacobs book but so excited for Ricky, the blurb at the end was not enough :)
We have seen Christian grow up. As one of the freaky kids his abilities have left him alone a lot but when he moves to the Princes things change. Dean is on the run from people trying to killer her. Both know what it's like to be lonely. They never thought the would feel someone touching them that didn't affect them negatively. This book is packed with freaky kids stuff, crazy MC, and more trouble than you can shake a stick at.
Christian has finally healed his spirit and grown into his powers. just in time to meet the challenge of a new leadership position. plus he finds a woman to love and protect.. there's danger aplenty, conflict, old hurts resurface....but a happy ending. first book in the new series about the old MC and the new one. lots of familiar faces. Happily re-read in april, 2017. Re-read in September, 2018. Revisited old friends and familiar story during covid pandemic in August, 2020.
I was hooked from the 1st chapter. It was such a wonderful book for one of my faves in the series. Just fell in love with Dean. The story was just really awe inspiring. The book touched my heart. It is very fast paced with action and sweet romance. I can't wait to re-read it. This book is going into my I will read over and over again pile.
What an awesome book! Really let's you see the Princes growing up and how the MC is dealing with their kids growing up. Christian shows a different side of the freaky kids, he let's us know that it's not always easy to be different. So happy that Nadine (Dean) comes into his life and brings love and touch into his life. Don't miss it!
I am so happy Christian found Dean and can finally be happy and have the love and touch from her. Dean is an awesome woman and a perfect match for Christian. I am so excited to find out what happens next. I highly recommend this book, actually any of the L Ann Marie books are awesome. Ready for the next please!!!!!!
I wondered about how his book would go. I'm so happy he got his ever after. I think about how lonely he was all his life. now he has his girl. I can't wait to see what happens next with Ricky. Wow.. Really do love this series.
This book was a great addition to the series. It was nice being able to learn more about Christian and what he has all gone through. At points it was confusing to read from Christians POV. He has so much going on in his head and keeps track of so many people that it was hard to follow at times. He meets Dean and they are soul mates.
Well what can I say l Ann Marie done it again never fails you think you know where the story is going then you get the twists can't wait for the next one thank you l Ann Marie for keeping us entertained
I have read all of l.Ann Marie's books and have loved every one the way they all Interact through each book and re occuring characters throughout, each book just gets even better than last xx
Another great book about total bad as* people ... Christian has lived a life of being alone with his battles ... Dean only has her sister together they can touch and feel and be happy!!!
Christian has always had it hard because of his abilities, but Dean make it all better, clearing a path for them is going to be hard but the Princes can handle everything thrown at them
Love all the books in this series and the spin offs. Always takes me a couple of chapters to remember who all the characters are from past books as the names come at you at high speed.
