Aliens are invading Earth, but the only ones who can stop them are trapped.

Jas Harrington and her companions are battling the alien invasion of Shadows. The four friends have made it to a sanctuary, and they want contact the Transgalactic Council to ask for its help, but Shadows surround them.

The aliens have blocked deep space transmissions, and Jas can't get a message out to the Council.

If she can find a way to destroy the suppressor that’s blocking the signal, their troubles may be over. But time is short. The Shadows are doing everything they can to break through their defenses.

If Jas and her allies fail at their task, no hope remains for humankind.

J.J. Green is a British-Australian science fiction author with a lifelong love of distant landscapes, intriguing cultures and fascinating places. She was born within the sound of the bells of Mary-le-Bow church in Cheapside, London, making her a bona fide Cockney, and she lived in Australia, Laos and Taiwan before returning to the UK to settle down in Cambridge.

Green’s novels weave science-based speculation with richly personal stories. Her works explore themes of environmental degradation, political conflict, mythical resonance, human resilience, and the ethics of technology and expansion. Her characters—often strong women—navigate future worlds grounded in both scientific plausibility and mythic imagination.

Taking on the Shadows is getting tougher and tougher. Getting to safety is not easy but Jas & her friends manage it somehow. Finding themselves at Sayen Lee's parent's estate, they think - or rather hope - that they've reached Sanctuary and can relax somewhat. Not so. The Shadows have blocked any long-distance transmissions as well as constructing one of their traps inside a new building very close to the estate. With some ingenuity and smarts, however, Sayen's parents help them construct gadgets and weaponry to try to take out the new technology. The result is something of a mixed bag and the climax demonstrates that you can't rely on constants. No spoilers here.....you'll just have to read the book for yourself. I did enjoy it and am going on to #8, "Mars Born." I hope it's as good as the previous offerings!

I received a copy of this book from the author.

Things are looking bad for Jas, Carl, Sayen, Erielle and Makey who are still reeling from the loss of Ozment. They have his truck but it’s battery almost dead, no food for the last two days and no water since yesterday. If they can’t break in to Sayen’s parents house they are done for.

It’s all very well having a scanner to check for a Shadow but first they have to capture one.

The tension is building. Even if they do get into the house and also capture a shadow will Sayen’s parents be able to help them contact the Transgalactic Council?

These stories may be shorter than a full length novel but they are well written. They are not padded out with unnecessary explanations as some books are and are well worth a read. Once you start one you’ll find it almost impossible to put down.

Author J.J. Green brings us Jas Harrington's next adventure. Jas and her friends are close to one of her friends house, one that has a shield protecting it and the shadows are closing in. But in order to warn the transgalactic council about the shadow invasion of Earth they have to capture one. But things don't always go as planned and Jas takes the risk of exposing them to the enemy in order to destroy a hyperlink suppressor. This is a great book in a great series and it has an explosive ending similar to that of Aliens and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Our poor heroes are trapped and they have to find a way to catch a Shadow whilst also escaping their predicament.
Hair raising fights ensue as well as strategic planning and a cute surprise. We also find out more about how the Shadows think.
A quick read but exciting and fun. I'm hooked on this series.

Jas and company reached safety...for now. They have time to recuperate and make plans.
Not that they have much choice in this matter. The alien Shadows somehow managed to block any outgoings signals from Sayen's parents house, so no warning can be sent off to the Earth powers to be.
And they need to capture a Shadow!
Once again suspense is building page by page.
Enjoy.

Jas and the gang want Sayen's parents to help them get the information to the Transgalactic Council about the Shadows. First they have to evade the Shadows that are surrounding the home of the parents.

The characters are strong and the story grows.

Book 7 in the ‘Shadows of the Void’ series has arrived. If you’re already addicted to the series then I reckon you’re definitely going to enjoy this one too! If you are yet to explore this sci-fi fantasy series, track down Book 1 ‘Generation’ and prepare to be thrilled.

Trapped is again based on planet Earth. Our intrepid gang are desperately trying to get a message to the Transgalactic Council and summon help to defend the planet against the invasion of the Shadows. Of course, the Shadows are not going to make that easy…

So, what do we have? We have our main characters trapped within Sayen’s parents’ house with Shadows patrolling all around. We have plenty of strategic planning as well as some pretty awesome fire-fights. We have a child Shadow for the first time. And we have a cat that I have a feeling is more important than it first appears (I may be wrong there!) Oh, and not to forget some pretty impressive technology/biotechnology.

In Trapped, the story of Sayen’s parents is revealed. Why do they have so much protection? Why have they always been so protective of Sayen? Who do they really work for? And why did they keep much of their lives secret from their own children?

One unexpected delight in this ‘episode’ is a whole chapter written in the voice of a Shadow. It’s great to get some insight into the events from a different viewpoint and I think this really helps make the characters of the Shadows more 3-dimensional.

In summary, once again Jenny Green has provided a vivid, engaging read that you can read cover to cover in one go. There’s loads of action here yet it’s not all fighting. We still get more pieces of the wider story with the truth about the characters’ lives and the galactic situation slowly being revealed. Definitely a must-read for fans of the series and other works by this author.
