The Brothers Locke: The Complete Series Episode 1-8

Rate this book
Sometimes the Good Guys are the Bad Boys This is our first job as master thieves and it couldn't have gone worse. We are the Brothers Mouth, Echo, and Sharp. Identical triplet brothers who live in the Dea, particularly the West of the Dea which is littered with criminals, monsters, corrupt politicians, dark magic, and mercenaries. Mouth is hard of hearing but has a voice that is powerful enough to level buildings, Echo is legally blind but can hear so well he can decipher information on radio waves, and Sharp is mute but has vision so enhanced he can see over great distances and in different spectrums of light.

We were hired by this crooked guy called Von Strauss, who fancies himself a tough guy but he really isn't, to steal a box from The Miscellany, the richest and most powerful man in the West. What he didn't tell us is that what we were stealing is an ancient artifact called the Key of the Spire which made us targets of every monster, mercenary, and madman on this side of the Dea. Now, our lives are on the line almost every day as we try to find a way out of this while not allowing this maniac to destroy the Dea and us in the process.

I have to start by saying this book doesn't fall within the genre I normally read: YA Fantasy. However, at the time, the beautiful cover of a colorful airship drew me in.

I read this book more thoroughly than normal, since I read for the purpose of proofreading. That means I noticed all the little mistakes, which should make me sick of the book. However, I also noticed beautiful passages of imagery, moments of true emotion, and the times when I could imagine feeling exactly what the characters felt. If I had a physical copy of the book, those are the passages I would have highlighted and bookmarked proudly. Or even pasted on my wall.

This book reminded me of why I love reading: I get to experience things I never could in real life.
I imagine this book being like a mix of the movies Treasure Planet and Aladdin, if that makes sense. Great movies. Though the imagery in a book can never live up to those movies without slowing the pace to a grinding halt, he gave just enough to remind me of those worlds.

I wanted to give this book four stars because it had no actual magic. However, reading outside of my genre may have helped me become a better writer, and the book took me on an amazing ride.

Thank you, KC Hunter. I look forward to reading a sequel, someday.

The Brothers Locke Book 2 KC HUNTER
Great read. Fast moving. Great continuity. More characters added both good and bad. No problem keeping up with all the characters! I look forward to both more on the Locke brothers and others from this author..

An action packed, well paced journey into a new world is the best way to describe this book. While it stands on its own, and could easily be a continuing series, I am excited to see what comes next in its companion series, Dorian Delmontez.

Couldn't put this series down. Fast paced with a colorful cast of characters and settings, plus an ending that left me with feelings. I really liked how quickly the story moved along, almost like i was watching a tv episode. I like how unique each of the brothers are and it was nice touch that one of them had to use sign language to communicate. This is a great series and i think it is geared towards the tween population who enjoy adventure stories like Percy Jackson and the fable haven series.
