Although Eye of the Falcon is the twelfth book in Dale Mayer’s Psychic Visions series, it’s actually the second book in the series I have read. Note, it is perfectly fine to read this book as a standalone novel, but you do get a better understanding of some of the details in the book if you have read the prior books in the series.
Last year I read Flynn’s Firecracker and instantly wanted more of the authors work. Thus, I jumped at the chance to read Seeds of Malice. Sadly, I did not enjoy Seeds of Malice anywhere near as much as I enjoyed Flynn’s Firecracker. Seeds of Malice was a decent read, but I found myself giving the book a three-star rating in the end. I blamed most of my issues with the book on how I read it as a standalone novel, meaning I was missing out on information. Thus, I told myself I would go back and read the prior books in the series. Although I have downloaded some of the earlier books onto my Kindle, I found myself reading book twelve before playing catch-up. Unlike book eleven, I found I had fewer unanswered questions with book twelve. It may have helped that book eleven gave me a small introduction to the series, but mostly I believe book twelve to be a much stronger book than book eleven.
Eye of the Falcon is a wonderfully gripping story from the very start. Instantly we are pulled into the lives of the characters, the storyline leaving us wanting more. Question after question builds, with each new detail pulling us into the world. With so many elements throughout, you’re guaranteed to fall in love with at least one detail of the book. It’s possible the mystery will be the thing to grab you, or maybe it will be the suspense. It could be the romance between the characters, or even the way in which the characters play off each other. It may well be the supernatural element that holds your attention, the psychic elements being linked to the birds making for an intriguing aspect. As I said, there is much about this story to enjoy, and there will be something to grab you throughout.
Although I would have liked to have gone back to read the prior books before jumping into book twelve, this book was not damaged in any way through my lack of prior reading. In fact, reading book twelve merely highlighted how desperately I need to go back and read the rest of the Psychic Visions series. The main characters in this story were wonderful, I came to enjoy them so much, but I also developed an appreciation for some of the other characters – and it is these characters I want to find out more about through going back and reading the prior books in the series.
The only real disappointment I had with this book was the ending. I felt as though things were rather lacking towards the end. There was so much information provided throughout the story, so much happened, that when things came together at the end I felt as though it was not the powerful collision of events it could have been. I guess I just expected something a bit more from the ending, I thought the way things came together would be more powerful.
Nevertheless, as a whole, I had a lot of fun with this one. I’ll certainly be giving the other books in the series a read – hopefully I will manage some of them before book thirteen is out!
Ever since she was a little girl, Issa has had an affinity for birds, especially one falcon in particular. Though their connection was used to assist her dad in his illegal activities, and following his death and that of her brothers, she and her Mom move to the United States, hoping to move on. She has since become an adult and her special talents serve her well in her chosen field, but she's never bonded with another falcon as she had before.
Eagle, a former military pilot, now runs a rescue center for raptors. He's currently trying to help a falcon, yet his inability to do so, and the falcon's own unpredictable behavior, has Eagle reluctantly wondering if there's only one course of action.
However, when the falcon breaks free, Eagle sure he'll never see him again, Eagle is shocked when he does return, and even more so that he's not alone. The woman, though beautiful, is seriously injured and Eagle does all he can to ensure she survives.
As the two spend time together, and the bond between not only them, but also Issa and the falcon, grows, Eagle knows there are dangerous times ahead.
Who hurt Issa and why? How is Eagle involved? Why was the falcon so determined to get to Issa? Will Eagle and Issa survive what's ahead? Is a HEA possible?

**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**
I loveeeeeeee this book, I'm a big fan of Dale Mayer, but this is my first book from her paranormal romance series, and this one definitely another favorite from Dale Mayer. A paranormal romance loaded with mystery, oh yeah this has my name all over it. This one hit me with darkness and mystery, and since then I can't put this book down. It keeps me on edge all the time, scared of bad things that will come, how will they survive this, wondering why the bad guy did what he did, what's the secrets, what really happened in the past, yes this one is loaded with mystery. And don't forget the bonds between human and those wonderful creatures, it's so fascinating, it makes me wish I have an owl for myself (you have to read it to know what this is all about). It's a part of Psychic Vision series, it's not the first book, but totally can be read as a standalone.
As for characters, I love Issa and Eagle. Love their banter and their love, love how strong they are, both are a survivor and a fighter, they're a match made from heaven.
If you love paranormal romance, even if you don't, you have to read this book, it's a must read one.
*I voluntarily received a review copy of this book
Wow this book is right up there in my top 3 for this year. I was so invested in this story I read half on Christmas Day. The story was so different from others that I've read. I too love birds, but am so envious of this character's connection with them. This broken girl and the former military pilot end up together after she is seriously hurt. She should be dead, she shouldn't be healing this fast...what's the mystery here? They're on a mission to find out why she was tortured and is this all connected to her past? Brilliant story, loved it and the characters including the wildlife.
Even non-paranormal romance readers will love this book! Dale Mayer is a new author to me whose work I’ve been curious about, so I was glad to get an opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. Although I’ve veered away from paranormal romance, this book has me reconsidering the genre, because it was just that good! Edge-of-the-seat suspense and intense action coupled with romance and a mystical twist made for some exciting, nail-biting reading, and I had a hard time putting this book down. I'll definitely work my way through the rest of this series as I have time, and I can’t wait to read more from this master storyteller!!
3.5 stars First I need to say that I hate birds. I'm terrified of like 99% of them and that's just the way it is. But fictional birds are okay when they aren't villainous. These birds weren't evil, so I was okay. I didn't close this book feeling any better about birds, though. Now I'm just worried they're going to have supernatural abilities in addition to the claws and the beaks and the beady eyes and all the flapping and the pooping from above. Fucking birds! Whatever.
Okay so. The plot is super convoluted, but even the characters are like "this makes no fucking sense," so you're kinda just gonna have to go with it. It's worth it in the end. The Final Confrontation is so good, such an epic takedown. I was cheering while reading it. And then there are multiple twists right after - holy shit the ending was the best part. It was a liiittle slow at times, a bit repetitive as they tried to work things out over and over. But the ending was so full of awesome and unexpected turns, I can hardly remember what bothered me about the rest of the story.
Oh, now I remember - the whole plot with the injured birds using a psychic connection with Stefan, the connecting character in this series, to get home was straight up dumb. I was angry at this. But then the ending... I'll forgive it, but I'm not happy about any of it.
So yeah. It was a little ridiculous, even unnerving, but it was also quite entertaining and I had a good time with these characters. The ending was a goddamn delight. Not sure where I'm headed next with this series, but I know I'll be reading plenty of them in the future.
Dale Mayer, continues her Psychic Visions series (Bk 12). She continues to weave her words with amazing ability, high stakes suspense and riveting paranormal drama. In a backdrop that few would be familiar with - a sanctuary of looking after wounded raptors and other birds that find themselves in need of care. A place already established by an ex- Spec Operator - Eagle. Hardworking. stoic and just wants to be left alone to care for those majestic birds of prey.
Issa, always struggled with life, some to traumatic events at a young age and some due to the oddness of her relationship with her deceased mother. She has suffered from the withholding of affection and the loss of her bonded companion, Hadrid and not ever fully realising what was wrong, other than her friend was gone. Her abilities have been dormant, yet she still was a fighter to better herself and find a place that was always calling to her.
Then evil strikes when you aren’t aware. That evil element from a past she is only starting to piece together will lead to danger, as she finds herself at the mercy of that evil, Tortured for reasons she can not fathom or comprehend. The very gifts that lay dormant are also what keeps her alive, to eventually find an escape. It will take something and someone extraordinary to the normal world to work it all out.
Adrift, helpless and tortured, Issa, with the help of feathered friends is found by Eagle. As she heals, her energy is being depleted by two new feathered companions in search of her. Her psychic abilities, along with the help and kindness from Eagle, as they slowly piece together exactly who she is and the powers she harnesses within.
The gifted psychic, Stefan along with some other favourites will also lend their strength and capabilities to find and restore balance.
What an emotional journey for both. this si one of those stories that is first healing and kindness. Caring and nurturing those who need our help above all else. A kindness that will eventually lead to a spark, growing affection,an attraction and to being home amongst the very creatures they both love and admire.
Dale Mayer, gives you Issa and Eagles journey. If you love dramatic, paranormal suspense/intrigue, story twists and turns… what are you all waiting for? She delivers this and more, in another page turning Psychic Visions book. This book is a slow build of bonded connections - not only with the animal world, in particular the raptors, but also with those that become special in our life.
Dale’s books, this could be read alone but to gain that sense of family and the special psychic connections within their world, it would be highly recommended you catch up on previous books inside this series to have a better perspective. Another beautiful story, I had so much pleasure in reading most highly recommend you read.
This is the first book I have ever read in Dale Mayer’s “A Psychic Visions” series. Even though this is Book #12, I can assure you that this book works very well as a stand-alone book.
Issa, the heroine, has the ability to silently communicate with birds. She lived in Ireland, and has three older brothers. In spite of her brothers, and her mother and father, Issa has always felt like an outsider and unloved by her family.
When her father and her brothers die, Issa and her mother move to America. Issa gets a doctorate in Environmental Sciences. Then, because she feels closer to birds than to her mother, Issa moves to the country and lives alone with her birds.
However, after her mother dies, she is kidnapped by a group of people who attempt to get some information from her. Since, she has no idea what they are seeling, they hold her for months until she finally manages to escapes.
When she finally collapses, she is near the home of Eagle, a retired military pilot, who lives alone. He, also, has an infinity for birds, although not as in depth as Issa. He takes in injured birds so he can heal them back to good health, and, then return them to their homes. One of the injured birds happens to be Issa’s falcon. He was injured by the “bad guys” as they kidnapped Issa. The falcon recognizes Issa and “calls” Eagle to help her.
This book hooks you in immediately, as a battered Issa is attempting to escape from her captors. Eagle nurses her back to health, as Issa attempts to contact Humbug, her owl that was also injured, and who is now missing. One of Issa’s goal is to get Humbug back so she can take care of him.
I love the characters in this novel. Issa is smart, strong and independent. In spite of her condition, she works hard to contact Humbug and lead him home. Also, she and Eagle travel to Ireland to investigate what her kidnappers want from her, otherwise they will kidnap her again. In spite of her condition, Issa goes with Eagle.
Eagle is a compassionate man who takes Issa in and keeps her presence secret even though he has no idea who she is. Alone, he patiently takes care of her. While Issa tries to figure out where Humbug is and tries to get him back, Eagle accepts a lot of strange events even though he is definitely confused and shocked.
I found this book interesting and exciting, I, absolutely, plan to read the rest of this series!
I received a complimentary copy of this title and voluntarily reviewed it.
As a child Issa bonded with a falcon in Ireland, circumstances had her mother moving them to the US. It's now years later, Issa has just cleaned out her mother's apartment following her death. She lives out in the wilds because she needs the wide open spaces. Her cabin is small but functional and away from the boxed in feel she gets from the city. She's a bit distraught but gets a bit of solace from the birds she cares for. A beautiful falcon, Roash, a Snowy Owl, Humbug and a tiny saw-whet owl, Gillian all have special needs and Issa is more than happy to meet them. She's yet to find a job even as a biologist with a PhD in Environmental science the offers haven't exactly been flooding in. After storing the boxes in her root cellar, she hears a disturbance outside. A gunshot has her tearing out the door only to be captured by strong arms and then encased in some sort of sack.
Eagle has a small ranch outside of Denver, he's set up a sort of wild bird rescue, treating injured birds of prey. An injured falcon had shown up a few days earlier and now Eagle is afraid he's going to have to put it down. However, the moment they're outside the bird flies off. Something he shouldn't be able to do with his injuries.
Eagle then realized all the birds were eerily quiet. As he investigates with his rifle and his dogs at his side, the falcon he calls Rikker flies up from the brush and then goes back down. What Eagle finds when he gets closer stuns him.
Eagle calls in some help, and when Issa wakes she doesn't remember much. A vet, a doctor both say she should go to the hospital and he should call the sheriff but he knows something bigger is involved and won't do that.
Both Stefan and Tabitha get involved in the most unusual way. I have to admit I was a bit puzzled when Stefan had to be pulled back by both Dr. Maddy and Celina. It's the after affects of that bit of 'flying' that really had me laughing out loud as everything Stefan starts painting ends up with an owl in it.
Plenty of tension as Eagle helps Issa and tries to get her to remember what happened. Everything seems to lead back to her childhood some how, and Stefan encourages her to look further therein.
I couldn't put this book down as the pieces start to form and come together. The relationship between Eagle and Issa simmers before it sizzles.
A fun and interesting tale with yet another unique ability and lots of intrigue and suspense.
This is the twelfth book in the Psychic Visions series.
Issa McGuire had a unique bond when she was young with a majestic falcon and was used by her family to protect their criminal activities. At the age of six everything fell apart, with her mother she migrated to America from their home in Ireland. Being different from other people, living in the concrete world of the city left Issa feeling bereft, needing nature and the energy of the outdoors to be whole. When older she bought a cabin outside of Denver, Colorado and tried to assimilate in the world in her own way with a degree in environmental sciences, she made some new avian friendships but not like the one she had lost which she still doesn’t quite fathom. Being alone in the wilderness has its manmade dangers, she’s abducted after her mother’s death and tortured for information she doesn’t believe she has but she manages to escape though severely injured. With the help of an eagle friend she collapses on the property of an avian sanctuary.
Much decorated former navy pilot Eagle Saunders runs a raptor refuge center, those birds have always called to him and since returning from the military he tends to those in need. His newest eagle save has a badly broken wing yet the bird managed to fly off which in such condition he shouldn’t have been able to do. He returns later on to lead Eagle to a woman, an unconscious, naked woman who’s obviously hurt and there was something mystical about the finding which he keeps to himself. Her wounds are familiar to him from the things he’s seen in the service and so he seeks to assist her privately with only those he trusts. It’s no wonder that upon regaining consciousness memories elude the woman but she knows her name and of her birds. After what she’s been through can she trust this stranger who has a sympathetic calling to the animals she holds most dear?
This was a unique story, anyone who has ever had a pet, who has ever bonded with an animal, knows there’s an intelligence and sentience to those species, this author brought such capabilities to the forefront in such a way that you are empathically drawn into the human and animal sufferings.
The protagonists were great characters with much emotional depth. The hero, at times skeptical, keeps an open mind when faced with things he doesn’t understand surrounding the heroine for they are truly kindred spirits. The heroine exhibited much growth and has an indomitable inner strength that took her from tragic childhood to the present. While navigating the growing bond between them, together they seek to find out why Issa was abducted and tortured and the trail seems to lead to the past where it all began. But why would the past rear its head now?
The intriguing suspenseful plot was intricately woven with numerous unexpected twists, the mystery to solve spanned decades. I have to say that I love this author’s paranormal imagination. Other characters from the series made appearances, Stefan and Tabitha connected to the birds that had been separated from their friend, you have to love the most adorable persistent owl who wouldn’t leave Stefan alone and who now appears in many of his paintings.
An advanced reading copy was obtained from the author.
Eye of the Falcon is a great book, that I enjoyed reading very much, with a rich, engaging story that captures the reader and keeps him or her glued to every page. It is also a balanced, well written novel. The narration is fast paced, dramatic at times. An ethereal atmosphere permeates the story and is evident in the long and detailed descriptions of the characters’ feelings, perceptions and interactions with the surrounding environment. The “Psychic” theme clearly dominates, however the characters maintain vivid and realistic personalities throughout the narration. I loved Issa, the female protagonist. She is a gentle, compassionate soul, that, as the story progresses, reveals a strong, intelligent, witty personality. Eagle is the male protagonist. A former military, he has a strong set of beliefs. However, when his path crosses with Issa and her unconventional powers, he decides to make the effort of attempting to understand her, revealing a kind-hearted personality. He accepts her need for independence and her willingness to take risks, remaining at her side without becoming overbearing. Eagle and Issa have also many similarities. I enjoyed reading about how they gradually discover said similarities, bonding and building the foundation for a promising relationship. The book also includes plenty of vivid, captivating side characters; both humans and animals. The author has succeeded at enriching the story with many interesting personas that create quite a few “stories inside the story”, some of them too good to be missed. Last but not least, the bad guys are particularly villainous. For the entirety of the story, they pursue Issa and her friends in several twisted ways, establishing tension and engaging the reader to the very end. My only note is on the finale. A little too sharp, even considering the type of book, but probably in line with the overall atmosphere of the book.
I wait in anticipation for the release of a Dale Mayer book every month. Be it the Psychic Visions series or the Seals series. There is just something about the way she writes that captures the imagination and takes you away into a world that is bliss and sunshine. Eye of the Falcon - what can I say but she has done it again. The world of the psychics has always interested me and the Psychic Visions series was one I read again and again. I now have all 12 books in my library. Issa was an amazing character from start to finish. I suppose we all imagine the character differently in our minds, but she seemed to take everything that came at her with aplomb. She was strong and required a strong character alongside her, which came in the form of Eagle. I enjoyed the interaction between them, so real. Dale doesn't disappoint with the excitement and edge of your seat suspense and this one actually had me biting my nails at times. I love the feeling of your heart beating faster as the adrenalin rushes in and you just can't wait to find out what happens next and Dale does this so well in this book. I read page to page without a break, except to go to the loo, as I usually do with her books, but this one had a different feel to it in the incorporation of the characters from the previous books, popping in every now and again and so blase about their capabilities. I sometimes imagine what my life would be like if I was one of the psychics in this series, and it would certainly not be dull. Dale, thank you for another amazing novel. Another break from reality. For anyone reading this review - please please please pick up this book and I assure you that you will find it difficult to put it down. Absolutely Awesome!! And then go back and buy any of the Psychic Vision books you may have missed.
I absolutely love Eye of the Falcon, the 12th book in the Psychic Visions series. Dale Mayer has once again brilliantly created a world full of vibrant characters, this time both of the human and feathered kind; Humbug the owl and Roash the Falcon really made this story stand out.
Eagle is that jaded hero that has a gooey inside. His protective and caring nature was brought to life through his care of the birds and Issa. Issa is a beautiful character, her psychic ability is awe-inspiring. Eagle was literally the perfect match for Issa, his contention to birds of prey is the perfect fit for Issa’s gift. The personal growth of Eagle and Issa through the story added dimensions to their characters and made a paranormal story more realistic. I loved the interaction of past characters, like Stefan and Tabitha, and new characters was seamless. The side story of the adventure of Humbug and Roash was one of my favorite parts of this story. I hope in future books we get to see more of Issa’s gift.
I would like to mention that I love and appreciated how Dale Mayer added facts about the upkeep and care of birds of prey throughout the book. I also enjoyed the villains side of the story. It gave nothing away, but added so much depth to the suspense and mystery created by Issa’s family and circumstances that lead to her meeting Eagle. The ending really tied everything together, and in some ways I pitied the villain and his main henchman. In future books or a spin off series I hope to see more of Panther, Tiger, and Hawk along with Gray and Annie. But I definitely hope for more of Humbug and Roash.
*I highly recommend this book for any readers who love paranormal, psychics, birds of prey, mystery, and romance. It can be read as a stand alone novel, but readers would enjoy the story more if they read the full series.
Wow, Best Book Ever! Once I started reading Eye of the Falcon, I couldn’t stop until it was finished. This is the 12th book in Dale Mayer’s Psychic Visions series. I’ve read them all. Each is unique and excellent, and this one is the bomb! Read it. You will feel excitement, awe, sadness, and admiration for Issa, a young Irish woman brought to the United States by her mother at the age of 6 after the murders of her father, brothers, and beloved pet falcon Hadrid with whom she shared a strong psychic bond. Following her mother’s fatal heart attack, 26-year-old Issa is kidnapped from her secluded Colorado cabin, where she shelters wounded birds including snowy owl Humbug. She is brutally tortured and shot while escaping. With no idea of where she is or was, she collapses on the grounds of the raptor sanctuary run by former military pilot Eagle. One of his birds, Roash, has bonded with Issa, almost as strongly as the bond she had with Hadrid. Thus begins parallel stories as Eagle and Issa work to track down and catch the kidnappers by reconstructing Issa’s long-buried memories of her last days in Ireland, while Roash helps Humbug make the arduous journey to reunite with Issa, relying on very interesting and sometimes hilarious help from psychics Stefan and Tabitha, whom we know well from earlier books in the Psychic Visions series. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll worry, and you will rejoice. Then, if you haven’t read the first 11 books of the series, you will get them and love them. If you’ve already read them, you may join me in waiting impatiently for book 13 to release.
This series continues to get better and better. This is one of the rare series where it's NOT necessary to read all previous books first. It may give you a wee bit of backstory to help understand the depth of the story more....but not a must. I personally suggest devouring all previous ones in this series as they're just that good 😀. This latest book has TONS of mystery, intrigue, action, psychic help, and all kinds of adrenaline and strong men in the mix. Her entire life, Issa has felt alone. Never having a close relationship with her mother...fleeing from Ireland when she was aged 6 after the sudden deaths of her dad and three older brothers...Her mum grabbed a suddenly mute Issa and fled to America. Now grown and a biologist she still has her odd connection with birds...where they become one with her and she can see through their eyes. The birds were her mother, father, brother, sisters and friends growing up. in short, they were her family. How was she to see what was coming? A week after her mother's death she was kidnapped and tortured near to death until she escaped and somehow made her way to a field. Little did she know it was on Eagle's land and he was now her protector. He WOULD learn who hurt this injured, waiflike and stunning woman, and WHY. The two already have a connection as he too has an affinity for and raises birds....now if only she'd awaken so he could at least get her name. This book has everything in it....action, adventure, mystery, intrigue, and oh so much more. You WON'T be bored at any point of this read, and I am seriously looking forward to the next in this exciting series.
I don’t usually read PNR books but this is the second from this author I have read and once again I was not disappointed and found it hard to put the book down. There’s Eagle, an ex Special Forces military man who loves birds and runs and owns a “sanctuary” for them, nursing them back to health at his place. Then there is Issa, who seems to have an unnatural ability to “talk” to birds and who happens to cross paths with Eagle when she escapes kidnappers. Bloody, beaten and left for dead, Eagle nurses Issa back to health. But all is not what it seems to be, her ability, her kidnappers, her past, her family...all a mystery and until the two can figure out what her kidnappers want, neither are safe. An amazing read with a lot of suspense, a mystery, a blossoming love between them, and finding a home where she finally belongs. I loved Eagle, he was strong yet kind, hard yet compassionate and would do anything to help Issa, protecting her and nursing her back to health. Issa was special in more ways than one and I loved how open, honest, strong, independent and smart she was. I also enjoyed the fact that there were no games between them, no misunderstandings, no miscommunication, they were both open and honest with each other and didn’t hold back. A read that had me on edge at times, had me guessing right to the end, smiling with the connection Eagle and Issa had, and wishing for an epilogue between these two because I didn’t want their story to end as that was the only thing missing for me with this read. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I’ve read a lot of Dales books her whole psychic vision series and seals series as well as some of her others there’s not one I don’t dislike I love them all and to continue with the psychic vision novels is so awesome. I do have to let newbies know that this shouldn’t be considered a stand alone you should read from the beginning to understand the characters that appear in this novel and so many others. That being said I love that Stefan and Dr.Maddy make an appearance in this again incorporating new characters with some of the older characters it’s like coming home and visiting with a beloved friend. And then adding guys from the military books that Dale has written like Hawk that is just so awesome. Now on to the book it’s about a woman named Issa that has had a awful life when growing up living with a smuggler family and believing that her father and brothers were killed because she wasn’t on the lookout for trouble that night and feeling that her mother hated her for that but then being kidnapped 5 days after her mother dies and pulled back into the whole mess of what happened 20 years ago that night feeling her only true connection was to her falcon at the time hadrid after escaping her captors she ends up collapsing near eagles house who’s ex military he can’t believe he’s found this woman naked and near death and wonders who could of done this to her and what is it with her bond with these birds that keep showing up and protecting her only time will tell for her to heal and tell him her story it’s a must read. I won’t spoil any of the rest.
I love this series and this book in particular was wonderful. Issa formed a strong bond with a falcon when she was a young girl in Ireland. Her father ran a smuggling ring along with her three brothers while she with her falcon and her mother were lookouts. One night when everything goes wrong, her father and brothers were killed and Issa lost the connection with her falcon. Her mother then took her in the middle of the night and they immigrated to America. Twenty years later, Issa has a degree in environmental science and has pursued her interest in falconry but doesn't feel the same kind of connection she had with her falcon in Ireland. She does have some special birds who came to her injured including an owl named Humbug and a falcon named Roasha. When Issa's mother dies, her world explodes again as she's kidnapped and tortured.
Eagle, an ex-military man who runs a rescue for raptors had been trying to heal an injured falcon who showed up but believes he's going to have to euthanize the bird. That's when the falcon flies off despite a badly injured wing. The next day Eagle's dogs lead him to the falcon along with a beautiful injured woman. When the kidnappers continue to come after Issa, Eagle steps in to help along with some trusted friends. Eagle's view of the world is stretched as he sees things with Issa that he didn't believe was possible.
I highly recommend this book not only to those who love the paranormal but to those who love animals.
I was kindly given the Eye of the Falcon Psychic Visions book as an ARC. Wow! Miss Dale has once again nailed it!!! Out of all her different book series, the Psychic Visions series is my absolute favorite; I love, love, love this series and I would highly recommend. Eye if the Falcon centers around Issa, who is a young Irish immigrant who has an amazing affinity for birds, especially Falcons; and a disenfranchised man named Eagle who is a former spec-ops operator. Eagle owns and runs a bird sanctuary because of his own appreciation & love of wild birds. Without giving too much away, Issa ends up on Eagle’s doorstep (so to speak). She’s terribly injured after having been tortured and the story goes from there. Eagle discovers that Issa not only has an incredible affinity for birds, but she can actually speak to them, almost psychically. This is an amazing book that shows that there are many things out there that we cannot explain, but, if we open our eyes we will will see that they do exist. I’d be in heaven if Miss Dale would publish six or seven of these books per year, but I have no doubt they’re incredibly difficult to write due to the complexity of her books. Oh, if you are a fan of the series of course dear Stefan plays a sweet side-role as usual reuniting a precious little owl named Humbug with Issa.
Once Again, An Awesome Psychic Visions Book. This one revoles around a girl with an Affinity for birds. And how her past, as a child comes back to try and destroy her, Even though she had no control at the time As a child. She meets a man, who accepts her, saves her, And helps her go back and settle her past. I dont know how to write reviews, But Definitly read this Series. You dont have to start with the first book, as they are all stand alones, But I would reccomend, as you will get more out of All of the books, If you do so, in my opinion. Awesome Series
Once Again, Another Great Read in the Psychic Visions Series. I don't know how to write a review, But here we go. This story revolves around a girl, who has an Affinity with birds. She is rescued/saved by a man, who accepts her for herself, And is willing to help her go back to her childhood, where many bad things happened to her And is still affecting her adult life. They go back to her childhood home, dodging bad guys all the way, And eventually solve the mystery of what happened to her And right the wrongs done. This series can be read as all stand alone books, But in my opinion, You would get more out of it, If you start with the First book, even though you don't have to. Another Awesome Read, Thank You Dale Mayer
This is definitely one of the most interesting series I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Each new story intrigues the reader right from the first page and keeps you glued to your seat until you come to the end. Ms. Mayer has a unique gift for creating characters, situations, mysteries and worlds that not only enchant and engage her readers but leave us wanting more. Issa and Eagle are two damaged souls bound together by their love of birds. Neither gives their trust easily but their winged friends let them know who is friend and foe. The mystical events, ideas and talents in these stories open your mind to the possibility that special people do exist and not everyone is a charlatan wanting to get a fast buck. Both characters are strong in their own way, loyal to those they choose are worthy and willing to die to protect those who are in need. The story was fast paced, easy to follow and filled with a mystery that had me right up until the unveiling of the bad guy at the end. I am not easily surprised but I have to say I did not see that exact outcome. Great twists and turns, awesome characters and an owl named Humbug who will win your heart. I look forward to the next book in this series. I volunteered to review this story for my honest opinion
The characters were ones you miss after you read the last page. The story is so fascinating and the fantasy is enough to make you want to believe so badly. This book had me covering my eyes and holding my breath as if I was watching it really happen and even with that it still had a sweet love story.I have never had a desire to read or watch movies about anything that could never happen but after reading the first book in this series I was hooked On this authors style bc it's not to unbelievable and you want it to be real. This can absolutely be read as a stand alone but you would be missing out on the best mystery, thriller, romance and fantasy I've ever read plus you have to get to know Stephan who is always in the shadows. If you have read the series then know that when I started this book I thought what in the world is this? I even checked to make sure I had the right book.Of course then I thought I will definitely keep reading and I know it will be amazing even tho I had my doubts bc of the way it started.Im so happy I kept reading bc I already regret reading it so fast.I shouldn't of stayed up most of the night but I just couldn't put it down after the first couple chapters.
What can I say about this book apart from it was absolutely fantastic. I loved it so much that I went and one clicked all of the books before it. It had me so enthralled in it that I sat in one sitting to find out what would happen next as it had me on the edge of my seat holding my breath. It had me intrigued, angry, sad and hoping that those that were lost found their way home.
Issa lost her three brothers and dad when she was 6 and not long after she was whisked away to America by her mom to live. 2 decades later she lives alone whilst her mom lived in the city. With her mom now dead, Issa is kidnapped and tortured but manages to escape and falls on the edge of Eagles property.
Eagle is a raptor rescuer and thinks something is amiss and goes to find out. Something out of the world happens and he find Issa. From here on out we see Issa trying to recover, Eagle trying help her whilst all the while trying to stop the bad men who want her. Whilst she has special gifts can she give energy to her 2 lost friends whilst fighting for her own safety? Will we find out why she is wanted? A fantastic book that I have no problem recommending. A truly brilliant piece of writing. I voluntarily reviewed this book as an advanced reader copy
I loved absolutely everything about this book! It is so well written, and all the sub-plots gave me goosebumps!
I loved the psychic aspect of this story. It made it the remarkable story that it is and made the reader think and wonder about what could be possible. I feel it gave the story so much depth and showed how intelligent birds really are. The compassion for birds of prey was very heartwarming. A lot of today’s stories jump right into hot and heavy sex scenes to jump start the action, but I am glad this one didn’t show sex as the main focus. There was definitely a connection between Eagle and Issa that went well beyond physical attraction and that was fun to discover as well. I enjoyed Issa’s kick-ass attitude she was able to show when it was needed. She is fearless despite the danger that surrounds her and Eagle. She fit perfectly with the big, brave and intelligent warrior Eagle is.
The only thing that saddened me about this story is, I wish that Issa would have found her friend. Otherwise, I wouldn’t change one word of this incredible story. It was excellent!
I am in LOVE with Dale Mayer's brand new series! Eye of The Falcon is THRILLING, SEXY, ADVENTUROUS THAT BRING BOTH HEAT AND ACTION! There seems to be a slight paranormal or maybe even a sci-fi type of feel to this book that was SO VERY intriguing. From the moment I started this, I was on edge and eagerly flipping the pages, needing to know what happens next. The heat between Eagle and Issa sizzles. I ADORED the way Eagle was determined to not only help Issa but to protect and care for her why he was also curious about her amazing ability. Issa is strong with an amazing heart. She is beautiful and I think the moment Eagle finds Issa and takes her back to his place to care for her, set my heart to melting and brought a zing to my soul. This is a perfect example of great writing with incredible characters that keeps me so hooked with Miss Mayer and her books!
Eye Of The Falcon was chalk full of heart galloping suspense and wonderful soul reaching romance. This is a INCREDIBLE read! I give this a FANFREAKINGTASTIC FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its SOOOO SOOO GOOD and unlike anything I have read before. I MUST have more!
I always, always, always LOVED Mayer’s Psychic Visions books. This one even more. Connect to birds? So cool…
Issa was a gifted woman, she could connect with birds (and again, I’m so envious of her). Eagle, a kindred soul to Issa, came to help her. Issa was badly traumatized, mentally and physically, when Eagle first found her. He nursed and brought her back to life, and helped her unravel the mystery of her kidnapping. Something related to her past.
Psychic theme was obviously evident in the book. Well, of course, it’s a Psychic Visions book after all. Some aspects of it were a bit difficult for me to grasp, but not necessarily took away the joy of the book. In general, the storyline, the characters were so human. They’re not alien. The psychic part really add to the dimension and depth of the story and characters. I got everything I expected to have in this book. Suspense, mystery, new psychic facet, likable characters, cameo of characters from previous books, and love in the air. Perfect!
I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.
I always like a good story with a team of sexy men. This book had that and more. Eagle is led by his dogs and a falcon to woman in bad shape. He knows she’s been tortured, but since he doesn’t trust the authorities he decides to protect her himself. He brings a doctor friend to stitch her cuts and veterinarian with a portable x-ray machine back to his house. Issa wakes in Eagle’s house and is frightened, but she sees how her falcon is around him and knows she can trust him. When the security alarms at this house are tripped, he knows that her kidnappers had found her. Like any ex-military member of a special ops team, when he needs backup he calls his teammates. The book is all about Eagle and Issa trying to determine who kidnapped her and why. The search for answers takes her to her childhood home in Ireland. Even though there were a lot of strong men wanting to stand up to the bad guys for her, Issa shows how strong she is by standing up to them. There are a lot of twists and turns and I was really surprised at the ending. Like all good Dale Mayer books, end in the guy gets the gal.
Issa bonded with a Falcon when she was a young girl and was a smuggler's lookout however one night tragedy struck and her father and brothers were killed and she was taken to America by her mother for a new life. She got over the shock of moving and embarked in a career in environmental science until one night the past came back and everything she knew was replaced by madness. Eagle is a former military man who has retired and is now running a rescue centre for raptors. After an injured falcon escapes it returns with a seriously injured woman. The result could end in death for both of them.
This was a story which contained a mystery, a drama, some psychic content and a romance. It was all woven together seamlessly into an addictive story that I found myself reading faster and faster as it got nearer to the end. Everything was well written and I'm definitely hooked on this series by the author. I liked that the story unfolded over time and that meant that I was constantly surprised as I never knew what was going to happen next. I can't wait for the next one to come out now.
Her mother’s surprising death seemed to have catapulted a flurry of memories and events, all leading back to the traumatic night in Ireland. Issa, then only six, was the lone watch out for her family’s smuggling operation, when on that fateful night her beloved falcon, Hadrid, three, no two, brothers, and her father were killed, prompting her mother to flee with her, to America for new lives. The novels themes of sex trafficking/ greed, psychic connections with birds/ animals, marital infidelity, and child abuse/ emotional neglect are wrapped up in this semi romantic/ para military novel. Love and dedication of Eagle’s team’s members to each other, and Issa’s re-awakened spiritual/ psychic connection to raptors/ birds as shown in the final scene with her wheel chair bound, derange brother, Liam, are well portrayed.
Action packed, well written novel, with great character development, and a surprising twist as it concludes and the secrets are revealed! Now onto book one of this series.
