This is a novel by a self-published author.

Hurricane is the story of Dr. Sharae Jones, intelligent, successful, has a handsome guy. She seems to have it all. But her career isn't where she wants it to be, and she suspects her man of cheating. Sharae's best friend, King, the consummate ladies' man, is struggling as well ... with his less the sisterly thoughts about Sharae's little sister, Ava. Will Sharae and King be able to navigate through life's storms to get what they want?

The story was good, and the author has a lot of potential.
But she makes the mistake that a lot of new authors do: she had trouble with the point of view, and that resulted in head-hopping.

Or in other words, she would shift the point of view between her characters within the same scene. For example, one scene starts from Sharae's point of view, then it shifts to Ava, then it shifts to King. When King & Ava are dancing, we're in King's point of view, then in Ava's, then back in King's. This type of head-hopping is really hard to read.

I get that the author wanted to us know what Sharae was feeling, what King was feeling and what Ava was feeling, but it has to be accomplished in a way that doesn't confuse the reader. And again, this is a very common mistake that new writers make.

When the author gets a handle on point of view, then I think her stories will be outstanding. Her ideas are good, and this story was also good. If it weren't for the head-hopping, I would have rated it higher.

this story was amazing!! Every page would slowly, but steady suck you in, like a hurricane. I love the character, Sharae! She was educated, and classy, but sometimes even the classy people have to get down and dirty. The ending had me terrified tho. I also loved Ava's character. Aaron and King are bae!!! This paper back was flawless. No editing mistakes and the font and formatting was charming.

Enjoyed this book

This is my first read from this author and overall I enjoyed it. It took a little while for the real action kick off but once it did it was non stop! Let’s start from the beginning I love how the title itself goes hand in hand with the physical storm in the book. It was refreshing to read about a character like Sharae because her journey was so impeccably written. Despite her horrid past she really came from the bottom all legit might I say. Ima just roll my eyes at James because hmmm I don’t want to spill but yea. I feel like we all know someone like her bestie King. The player player that learned that getting it together it key. Now before I start dropping real tea let me exit stage left. If you are looking for a book that will give relatable action all while stimulating your mind then read this book.

So real

I love that this story dealt with real, everyday, non-talked about issues. Metal instability is very real and men and women alike need to worry about the games they play. I was happy to see that she was able to let go of the fear and live her life.

Drama Til The End!

It took this novel about mid way through to really pick up. Sharae is fighting demons from her past and now present. Ava is discovering what love truly is through King. All wrapped in a bow of drama filled pages.

Weathering the Storm

4.5 stars....
This was my first read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Dr. Sharae Jones thought she had everything under control until her personal life started to spiral out of control. Sharae went through a lot and at moments I thought she was weak. The story started off a little slow, but once it got good I couldn't put the book down. The characters were relatable and their issues most of us women have been through it or known someone who has. I was skeptical about King in the beginning but by the end of the story he won me over. Aaron had me from the moment he was introduced in the story. There some minor errors but it did not take away from the story. Look forward to reading more of Elaine Allen's book.
