Can you say IMMATURE.....These were supposed to be woman at least 32 years of age and older.....Some of the dialogue in this book was quit ridiculous to have a grown woman 50 yrs old walking around all the time yelling "Show me wha'cha working wit".......Was a bit much and the conversation that took place between Vera, Angie Shannon and Lee was so crazy at times that you just wanted to skip parts of it...The best part of this book to me was Dr. Taj Bennett he was a good man that worked his way out of the projects and made a better life for himself and NOT by sellings drugs oh but don't let the lab coat fool ya he had just enough THUG in him to let you he was the MAN......This was a decent enough read if you just wanted to laugh at Aunt Cookie and Uncle Boy....other times Rowanda and Vera made you want to shed tears for what mother and daughter had been through.....All in all it was a DECENT read but be sure to read Flipside of the Game first because that's were it all started......
This book was funny is so many ways. I was cracking up so much. Also book was so sad in so many ways.
Vera has finally learned her lesson she has finally grown up to finally give her heart to Taj and to also open up to her mother. It took a minute but, her and her mother finally got a great relationship after her mother got cleaned up. Her mother wanted to do it for herself so she can be in Vera's life and also Vera and Taj's baby girl Skyy.
Vera and Taj has they falling outs but, it got better. Also Vera friends had a lot of issues also when it came to men but, they learning also. I liked how Vera and her friends was close but, also they was there for each other know matter what even when they had there falling outs with each other.
Vera mother Rowanda got herself together and found her a man to learn her and for her to love.
Overall book was great funny and I liked it. :) Great book
I couldn't. I really just could not. I could pick through the vernacular and understand most of what was being said...then it came down to what they were actually saying. It was raunchy and immature and the girl kept reminding us she was 32. Oh boy... And, I didn't like how everyone pitied the mother but couldn't see Vera's point of view. Her fiance even said, "So what if she threw you in the trash when you were a baby...that was years ago!" WHAT?! Plus, the publisher just threw this book together. There were grammarical and spelling errors that had nothing to do with the vernacular. (EX: Shannon signed when she was supposed to have sighed".) Or there would be a quotation mark in the middle of a sentence.
I couldn't even make it halfway through this one. :/
To me this book was very good. I like these what you guys call "Street Books". I think that they are very interesting and that they kind of teach you what your life could be like if you put yourself in certain predicament and certain things that you shouldnt follow so your life could go along a straight path.
Alot of adults say that children our ages (14) should not be reading these books but my mother lets me and i am happ she does because like I said it teachs me new things as i read them and even things i never knew. So afterall they are not that bad. So, for those who reads these kind of books i recommend this book.
Well i didn't get that far in the book to actually know what happened to the character. In my opinion this book is boring. Triple Crown books are suppose to be interesting and full of drama but this book is the opposite.
Sitting on the side of the tub, hiding from the family to finish the book good. I woke up at about 4am to start reading this book, went to work read it on my breaks & lunch, came home from work & did nothing but read this book. It was that good.
This is one of my favorites I think tu-shonda did an exceptional job she stayed very true to the characters and it flowed very nicely the book is funny and I love it
The book was ok. I liked part one better and it had a good story plot. Maybe just not the types of books I typically read. But not the worse book I've read!
