Η βενετσιάνικη νύχτα
Η αραπίνα έριξε στον Πίπο μία γρήγορη και περίεργη ματιά,έκανε μερικά βήματα πίσω και πέταξε επιδέξια πάνω στο μπαλκόνι ένα κουτάκι διπλωμένο σε χαρτί.Ύστερα έφυγε γρήγορα,γυρίζοντας κάθε τόσο το κεφάλι για να τον βλέπει.
Ο Πίπο σήκωσε το κουτί,το άνοιξε και βρήκε μέσα ένα όμορφο σακουλάκι για χρήματα,τυλιγμένο σε μπαμπάκι.Περίμενε να βρει κάτω από το μπαμπάκι κάποιο χαρτί που θα του έδινε μία εξήγηση.
Το χαρτί το βρήκε,μα ήταν κι αυτό τόσο μυστηριώδες όσο και όλο το περιεχόμενο του κουτιού,γιατί δεν είχε παρά μόνο αυτές τις λέξεις:"Μην ξοδεύεις εύκολα το περιεχόμενο μου.Κάθε φορά που βγαίνεις από το σπίτι σου,βάζε μου ένα χρυσό νόμισμα κι αυτό φτάνει για όλη την ημέρα.Κι αν το βράδυ απομείνει τίποτε,όσο μικρό κι αν είναι,θα βρεις κάποιον φτωχό που θα σ'ευγνωμονεί".

Musset was born on 11 December 1810 in Paris. His family was upper-class but poor and his father worked in various key government positions, but never gave his son any money. His mother was similarly accomplished, and her role as a society hostess, - for example her drawing-room parties, luncheons, and dinners, held in the Musset residence - left a lasting impression on young Alfred.
Early indications of Musset's boyhood talents were seen by his fondness for acting impromptu mini-plays based upon episodes from old romance stories he had read. Years later, elder brother Paul de Musset would preserve these, and many other details, for posterity, in a biography on his famous younger brother.
Alfred de Musset entered the collège Henri IV at the age of nine, where in 1827 he won the Latin essay prize in the Concours général. With the help of Paul Foucher, Victor Hugo's brother-in-law, he began to attend, at the age of 17, the Cénacle, the literary salon of Charles Nodier at the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal. After attempts at careers in medicine (which he gave up owing to a distaste for dissections), law, drawing, English and piano, he became one of the first Romantic writers, with his first collection of poems, Contes d'Espagne et d'Italie (1829, Tales of Spain and Italy). By the time he reached the age of 20, his rising literary fame was already accompanied by a sulphurous reputation fed by his dandy side.
He was the librarian of the French Ministry of the Interior under the July Monarchy. During this time he also involved himself in polemics during the Rhine crisis of 1840, caused by the French prime minister Adolphe Thiers, who as Minister of the Interior had been Musset's superior. Thiers had demanded that France should own the left bank of the Rhine (described as France's "natural boundary"), as it had under Napoleon, despite the territory's German population. These demands were rejected by German songs and poems, including Nikolaus Becker's Rheinlied, which contained the verse: "Sie sollen ihn nicht haben, den freien, deutschen Rhein ..." (They shall not have it, the free, German Rhine). Musset answered to this with a poem of his own: "Nous l'avons eu, votre Rhin allemand" (We've had it, your German Rhine).
The tale of his celebrated love affair with George Sand, which lasted from 1833 to 1835, is told from his point of view in his autobiographical novel, La Confession d'un Enfant du Siècle (The Confession of a Child of the Century, made into a film, Children of the Century), and from her point of view in her Elle et lui. Musset's Nuits (1835–1837, Nights) trace his emotional upheaval of his love for George Sand, from early despair to final resignation. He is also believed to be the author of Gamiani, or Two Nights of Excess (1833), a lesbian erotic novel, also believed to be modeled on George Sand.

Musset was dismissed from his post as librarian by the new minister Ledru-Rollin after the revolution of 1848. He was however appointed librarian of the Ministry of Public Instruction in 1853.
Musset received the Légion d'honneur on 24 April 1845, at the same time as Balzac, and was elected to the Académie française in 1852 (after two failures to do so in 1848 and 1850).
Alfred de Musset died in his sleep on 2 May 1857. The cause was heart failure, the combination of alcoholism and a longstanding aortic insufficiency. One symptom that had been noticed by his brother was a bobbing of the head as a result of the amplification of the pulse; this was later called de Musset's sign. He was buried in Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.

Βενετία 16ος αιώνας
Σ'αυτή τη μικρή ιστορία,ο Πίπο,γιος ενός επιφανούς ζωγράφου,περνάει τον χρόνο του ξοδεύοντας την περιουσία του σε χαρτοπαιχτικές λέσχες.Η Βεατρίκη,κόρη και χήρα δύο ευγενών οικογενειών,όντας ερωτευμένη μαζί του απο μακριά,τον αποπλανεί με σκοπό να τον εμπνεύσει να ξαναπιάσει τη ζωγραφική.Την ζωγραφίζει,αλλά μετά δεν έχει πια όρεξη για να συνεχίσει το έργο του.
Αυτό το βιβλίο το πήρα από την εφημερίδα Επένδυση μαζί με κάποια άλλα βιβλία,και δεν περίμενα πολλά να πω την αλήθεια.Στην αρχή υπάρχει η βιογραφία του Αλφρέ ντε Μισέ,που αναλύει τον έρωτά του για την Ζορζ Σαντ,και για τα έργα του,τα οποία άφηνε ημιτελή και ύστερα συνέχιζε με λίγη επιτυχία.Η Βενετσιάνικη Νύχτα ήταν κάτι που σχεδίαζε να αναπτύξει σε μυθιστόρημα αλλά ποτέ δεν το κατάφερε καθώς έζησε μόλις 47 χρόνια.Τα έργα του θεωρούνταν πολύ σκανδαλώδη για την εποχή του και ήταν επιθυμητά σε πολύ μικρή μερίδα του γαλλικού κοινού.
Η Βενετσιάνικη Νύχτα ήταν πολύ ευχάριστη ιστορία,και περνάει πολύ γρήγορα καθώς σε απορροφάει αμέσως στην πλοκή.Παρ'όλο που δεν διαρκεί πολύ,μπορείς να διακρίνεις το ταλέντο του Αλφρέ.Αν ένας συγγραφέας του 18ου αιώνα σε γοητεύει με την 16ου αιώνα Βενετία,τότε καταλαβαίνεις γράψιμο.
Αγαπημένες γραμμές του έργου:
"Και δίνω μοναχά,σ'αυτή τη γη,διαβατικά,το χέρι αν κάποια με καλεί,το παν αν μ'αγαπά".
"Η αλήθεια είναι πως το αληθινά ωραίο είναι έργο χρόνου και περισυλλογής και ότι δεν υπάρχει μεγαλοφυΐα δίχως υπομονή".
Τα 3 αστεράκια είναι επειδή θα ήθελα να είχε αναπτυχθεί πολύ περισσότερο αυτή η ιστορία,επειδή μου έμεινε η αίσθηση ανολοκλήρωτου.

Ομολογώ ότι δεν είχα υπόψη μου τον συγκεκριμένο συγγραφέα, πολλώ δε μάλλον την εν λόγω ιστορία του. Γρήγορο και ευχάριστο ανάγνωσμα, με λόγο που ρέει αβίαστα και ανώδυνα, χωρίς περιττές περιγραφές. Δεν μου άλλαξε τον κόσμο, αλλά σίγουρα μου πρόσφερε μια ευχάριστη αναγνωστική εμπειρία.

Μια υπέροχη νουβέλα του Γάλλου δανδή, μέσα σε ενενήντα σελίδες ο Ντε Μισέ καταφέρνει να μας μεταφέρει στην Βενετία του 1580. Εκεί θα συναντήσουμε τον γόνο της αριστοκρατικής οικογένειας Τισιάνο, γιο του γνωστού ζωγράφου, ο ίδιος έχει κληρονομήσει το τάλαντο του πατέρα του αλλά αντί να εργάζεται προτιμά να παίζει χαρτιά και να σκορπά την περιουσία του. Έως την ημέρα που τον ερωτεύεται μια εξαιρετική γυναίκα που προσπαθεί να τον προτρέψει να ενδιαφερθεί ξανά για τη ζωή και την δημιουργία.

Περισσότερο από την ιστοριούλα αυτή μου έκανε εντύπωση η ζωή του ίδιου του συγγραφέα: κολλημένος από έρωτα με την Γεωργία Σάνδη (διάσημη, αντισυμβατική και πολύ καλύτερη συγγραφέας), αναβλητικός με αυτογνωσία και με λεπτή απόχρωση χιούμορ αυτοσαρκασμού. Ελάχιστα είναι τα πονήματά του, έχουν σίγουρα ξεπερασμένη γοητεία αλλά είναι πολύ συμπαθητική η γραφή του, χωρίς να γίνεται καθόλου πομπώδης. Κομψό βιβλίο σαν τον ίδιο!
What impressed me, far more than this short story, was author's life himself: He was stuck in love with George Sand (famous eccentric woman and much better writer), he also was a procrastinator with self-awareness and his writing has a refined self-sarcasm humor. He had few novels and they have a definitely outdated charm but he has a very nice writing style, without being pompous. An elegant story just like him!

I love Musset, I just love him. He writes theater like a poem and he writes theater like a movie. This little play about human inconsistency and inability to live up to the fairy tales and drama we make up just lighted up my day :)
