I needed a funny book after the book before the last one, so I knew exactly what to do: pick up in the Charlie Cooper series where I left off. The first book was pretty hilarious, and this one didn't disappoint me either. If anything, it might have been even funnier. The scenes with the panda nearly had me cry-laughing! If you haven't read this one, you need to. But, just a little advice would be to read these in order. There were a few things in this book referring to what happened in the first book. And you get the full effect of Mom and Dad Cooper if you read from the beginning. Personally, I love both of them. I think they might embarrass Charlie a little bit, but they definitely mean well and have certainly endeared Marge, Celeste and even Alex.

There wasn't a murder like I'm used to in this book, but the girls had gotten their first PI gig which of course led into something bigger and more dangerous that Alex had to continually warn them against snooping into. The crooks in this were hysterical! I'll leave it at that, because it might even be a spoiler to tell who/what the situation reminded me of. ;) I had no idea that a red panda didn't look like the typical black and white one, so of course, I had to check online and see that they are pretty stinking cute and look like an adorable cross between a raccoon and a fox. And stinking was definitely a major player with Lou, the panda they were supposed to locate then call for backup assistance. I absolutely can't wait to see what these three crazy, fun girls get into next!

I’m glad I found this series!
This story is a good continuation of the series. The trio of friends believe themselves to be ace detectives. So much so, they all quit their jobs and open an undercover detective agency named, “CMC Services”. Their first case is to find a red panda that has escaped from the local zoo. During the investigation into the escape of the red panda, they find evidence of a probable crime that has them eager to solve this new mystery. Both cases lead them into trouble. The trouble found while working the first case is at times laugh-out-loud hilarious. The trouble they find with the second case could turn deadly.
Alex, the handsome and sexy police detective shadowing Charlie in the first book of the series, seems to be around a lot…again. What is his deal this time?
I won’t give away and spoilers. However, I will recommend this book for anyone who enjoys an entertaining and sometimes funny “light” read. As for me, I am off to KU to borrow the next book in the series as soon as I post this review. I am giving it a five-star rating; not because it is a literary masterpiece, but because it entertained me and caused me to laugh-out-loud at least three times! A great stress reliever. Thank you, Deany Ray, for brightening my day!

E-Reader. Mystery

Charlie Cooper, real name Charlotte.  Worked for Boston Police Department, answering phones & doing filing.  The Chief asked her if she & a couple of  friends would mind moving back to her hometown, Springston to do undercover work.  Mingled with the town to see if they could tell if any narcotics were being sold from there.

Well Charlie & two friends, Marge and Celeste decide to be waitresses at Jim's diner, which her Dad owns.  She's back living at home with parents and younger brother Bert.

They solve the case.  It was right under the police departments nose, their Chief of police was the ring leader.

They decide to stay and work as under cover consultants for the police department.

They open a fake computer consultants business.  Celeste knows the new police Chief, he's her Ex boyfriend.

Their first assignment is to capture an escapaded small red panda bear, Lou.

There is so much more to this mystery you need to read this book.  There are some funny situations they get themselves involved in & some very dangerous situations too.  Enjoy!

Charlie, Marge, and Celeste have joined forces to open their new business, CMC Investigations. They even have a client of sorts, Celeste’s ex-husband, who happens to be the police chief. In exchange for Celeste keeping his personal business private, he has agreed to funnel some cases their way!
Their first case is the disappearance of Lou, one of the twin red pandas in the Springston Zoo. Though this assignment has the entire police force in stitches at their expense, and Celeste’s face redder than her hair, the girls rush eagerly to the zoo to talk to the staff and look for clues.
There they discover that someone briefly left the pandas’ door open and Lou escaped. They also learn that Lou has a liking for pickles! So they head home to rest, grab jars of pickles, and head for the park in the evening to bait a trap for Lou with pickles!
Will the girls find Lou? Will they be able to corral him? What else might be found in the park?
Read Pickled to find the answers to these questions and more!

For their first official job as CMC Investigations, Charlie, Marge, and Celeste are out to find an escaped Red Panda from the zoo. They find the panda but discover the he has a self defense mechanism. A very strong gaseous relief system.
While trying to find the panda they discover a severed finger. After getting the name of the owner of the finger, The group investigates him, encountering an exploding van, and being kidnapped by a counterfeit goods ring.
This is another great tale by Deany Ray. The action is fast paced and will keep the pages turning till the end. I am looking forward to the next release in this series.

The first book in this series was a nice cosy mystery, but in the second I got rather tired of her cookie cliche’s especially at inopportune times when no real human would think of “cookies”. This aspect makes Charlie seem a little two dimensional. Her characters aren’t as interesting as Jasmine Webb’s Charlie Gibson cosy mysteries.

The redeeming quality is her discovery that her family is important to her. If she could make her characters more real and drop the cookie obsession, these might be decent cosy mysteries for when one needs to just let their mind focus on a little absurdity and unwind.

Three Woman and a Red Panda

What can go wrong? Give your ex-wife and her friends a simple job. Find the missing red panda. They have a case and are out of the way so the station can get down to real crime fighting. Instead, they nearly get blown up and that is just part of the adventure. This is a PG joyride, equal Stefanie Plum’s disasters. Never a dull moment, between Charlie’s ability to get herself in trouble and her crazy family.Even Celeste and Marge have quirky personalities that add to the fun.

Fun book!

Deany Rae is one of my favorite authors. I loved this book! The storyline was fantastic! Kept me engrossed for the entire book! Charlie and her friends have opened a private detective business under the guise of computer repair. Their first job was to find the panda that had disappeared from the zoo. This is hilarious! It overlapped finding criminals that were selling fake products! You have to read this to figure out the ending! Lots of craziness, danger and love interests. I would highly recommend this book!

Book 2 in the series, and Charlie has gone into business with friends Celeste and Marge. They are undercover detectives working out of a supposed computer repair business. Through Celeste's threat of blabbing a secret, the new Police Chief (her ex-husband) gives them a case. Find a Red Panda that has escaped from the zoo. Along the way they find a finger as well, and now they are solving a whole different case as well as finding that missing Red Panda. Exciting wackiness follows the three partners.

This was another cute quick read. I would like to say to those who commented (over and over) that a red panda is not a bear: I did not find one single place where the red panda was called a bear. The whole point is Charlie is a little clumsy and doesn't always think everything through. It happens. It helps create chaos. If this is not your type of story, don't read. I happen to love all the characters and all their little character "flaws." Yes, Charlie needs to grow up a little, but I think that is the whole point.

Had me laughing out loud

Amateur detectives, or should I say wannabe detectives. It's possible for three women to decide they want to solve cases before the cops. I can see where someone might rate this book differently, but face it. Anything is possible for three ditzy doodles. The characters in this book will have you laughing out loud for the antics they find themselves in. And the hot, sexy blue eyed cop isn't too bad either. I'll even go so far to recommend this book.

Book 2 of the Charlie Cooper mysteries

Charlie and her new friends who were previously waitresses, after barely surviving a drug ring, decide they should start a private investigation business.
Really, they are definitely not qualified and have no training, and no idea what they are doing as you learn throughout this quick little book. They luck into surviving the scary situations they put themselves into.
Onto book 3... please help me.

Didn't like

Characters to childish. The author makes these three women act and sound more like six year olds, instead of adults.

Mostly it's blah. Easy to put down for anything else. Then add a bunch of small stuff from insufficient decent editing.
