In Liliana Hart's New York Times bestselling Addison Holmes series, Addison bites off more than she can chew as she investigates a decades-old murder.
When Addison's Aunt Scarlet comes to town saying she found a murderer, she, Addison, and Rosemarie decide to go undercover because of the high bounty on the Romeo Bandit's head. The only problem is they have to go undercover at a nudist colony.
Liliana Hart spent five years teaching music in the public education system. She molded America’s youth, busted kids for smoking pot in the restrooms, and broke up illicit affairs behind the stage on a regular basis. (Liliana’s Addison Holmes Mystery Series, about a small town teacher who gets into a whole lot of trouble, is somewhat autobiographical, but she won’t confess to which parts).
Liliana began reading romance novels with all her new found free time, and when she ran out of things to read, she decided to write her own novels. The result was a 150,000 word thriller—a dazzling adventure—where the heroine was a thirty-year-old virgin assassin (Yes, you read that right). She couldn’t imagine why people weren’t knocking down her door to read it, but she persevered and began writing a second book. She finally got the hang of things, and eventually learned that losing one’s virginity wasn’t all that romantic after all. All of her books involve some kind of suspense (she just can't help herself), laughter, and a lot of steamy sex.
Since the failure of her first attempt, Liliana’s books have won awards such as: The Daphne Du Maurier, The Suzannah, The Linda Howard Award of Excellence, The Maggie, and many others. Her affiliations include Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America.
Liliana loves to cook, and is addicted to reading, Internet Boggle, kickboxing, and Bones. She lives in a big, rambling house in Texas with a couple of cats to keep her company. She loves to get emails from readers.
Truly hilarious novella. Addison reminds me a lot of Stephanie Plum. Some writers just have the ability to describe a scene in such a funny way you cant help but laugh out loud. And Great Aunt Scarlet….what a trip! If you need a quick read and a little hilarity in your life, definitely pick this up.
“ My name is Addison Holmes, and I teach history at James Madison High School in Whiskey Bayou, Georgia. You might be under the assumption that my life went to the dogs when my fiancé left me at the altar for the home economics teacher, or when I got notice that my apartment building was going to be condemned, or even when I was desperate enough to strip to my unmentionables to earn some extra cash. The truth is that I'm pretty much used to disasters following me around on a daily basis, but I could have gone without finding my principal dead in the parking lot of a seedy gentlemen's club. After the initial shock of finding my first dead body, which included throwing back shots of Jack Daniels like it was water, I decided to take stock of my life. I was in a desperate situation and if the school board ever found out I'd been a stripper, even a bad stripper, I'd be jobless as well as fiancé-less and homeless. Fortunately, I had a friend who felt sorry enough for me to give me a job doing some surveillance work at her detective agency. Not to mention the fact that I was now able to stick my nose into other people's business for a good cause, find a murderer, and pick up helpful tips from an incredibly attractive detective. Come check out my story and be thankful your life is relatively normal. ” Whiskey On the Rocks is Book #4.5 in the Addison Holmes Mysteries by Liliana Hart that blends humor, romance, and small-town sleuthing that kept me turning the pages with a smile. Ms. Hart showcases her character development skills here, creating a heroine who is equal parts charming, clumsy, and clever - the kind of character you root for even when she’s in over her head (which is often). Addison, a former history teacher turned accidental private investigator, stumbles her way into mysteries that are as quirky as they are dangerous. The series balances laugh-out-loud moments with genuine suspense, and the witty banter between characters - especially the romantic tension with her love interest - adds an extra spark. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with a dash of romance, a sprinkle of sass, and a heroine who’s as relatable as she is resourceful, then the Addison Holmes Mysteries will be a treat you won’t want to miss. The series contains: -Whiskey Rebellion (Book #1) -Whiskey Sour (Book #2) -Whiskey for Breakfast (Book #3) -Whiskey, You’re the Devil (Book #4) -Whiskey on the Rocks (Book #4.5) -Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (Book #5) -Whiskey and Gunpowder (Book #6) -Whiskey Lullaby (Book #7) Happy Reading…
I love a series. And this one is reminiscent of our beloved Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich - although not quite as good. (Does anything really stack up to or higher than Stephanie? If so let me know in the comments) The bumbling would be detective who stumbles into the field, the funny eccentric friend, and of course the love triangle. It’s a recipe for entertaining reads when done correctly which this one is acceptable. More of a fun mystery with jokes and romance, this entire series was good. I’ll continue reading if more come out.
This one is a novelette and doesn’t quite match the entertainment of the rest of the series, yet, I can’t skip over the “.5” pieces of the series. This one is 4.5. Very short, quick read.
I was a little disappointed in this series, after being wow with the others, this one didn't have enough story into it like the others it was too much like telling what happen that day on an assignment no depth to it like the others it was almost like the author was trying to get enough sentence in the story to make up the qualified letters needed to make a book. This was more like a short story and not worth the money to buy. I would save my money and skip this one. Hope the next series is better and the creative juice is back. I like to see more of Addison Holmes story .The writer maybe just need a break.
Liliana Hart is my second top author I love to read. Pre orders from her are like surprise Birthday presents to myself. I am re-reading this set since I recommended it to my nephew's girlfriend. This series is so funny! I actually laughed so hard in the first book, I had years and everyone I try to retell the tale to my friends, I would be in hysterics again and have a hard time telling it.
If you like Stephanie Plum, you'll love Addison Holmes. This series is so enjoyable and makes me laugh out loud. Addison decides to get her P.I. license after losing her history teaching job. If there's trouble, she's in the middle of it and manages to survive despite her being a klutz.
Accidentally went to a nudist beach CA, Addison, full Monty is not for me, especially seeing 'Oranges' when I looked up from reading when a senior citizen bent over spreading out a beach towel...but for a million dollars? Xanax would be necessary. I love all the characters!
If you like fast paced humour, you will like Liliana Hart
I have read most of this author's Whiskey series and have not been disappointed so far. Plots are fast paced and very funny. If you want to be carried away in a story and laugh out loud, you will love this author.
This book is short but OMG still funny has the rest of the Addison Holmes series. If you think Addison is funny wait till you read about Aunt Scarlett ... Yup she's a Holmes.
Addison and her crazy antics never fail to make you laugh. She has a new character in her band of friends/sidekicks, and this character’s one liners have you holding your sides your laughing so hard.
G rat short before the next AH book. Savage is a tease and makes it hard for Addison to say no. I hope we get to see more of Aunt Scarlet....she’s a hoot!
