I read this book because my partner is studying psychology at uni and is interested in Lacan and Freud psychoanalysis. It is wildly different from what I usually read but I enjoyed it so much. It took me months to read because every time I read one sentence I had to put it down and think for a couple days. It took my head a while to adjust to this kind of writing style but by the later half of the book, I was reading in a flow state. I rarely give a book 5 stars but this book genuinely made me think and I’ve come away from it with a new outlook on psychology. It has inspired me to read more of leder’s books - maybe why women write more letters than they post or why we can’t sleep. As my first introduction into psychology this book was challenging and a big leap of faith but somehow still very ‘psychology beginner reader friendly’? I highly recommend.
