“Made in Manhattan” finale! While Wally and Dick are trapped inside Meta Solutions with the raging Mammoth, Psimon reveals that his employers have big plans for Bumblebee! Can the rest of the Titans rally before the Fearsome Five unleash hell on New York City?
The early part of this story arc was very promising , the fact that the villains featured in this book were teased for much of Titans since Rebirth and it re-introduced Vox and Bumblebee were really exciting . Then the whole mega plan and mystery was built up really nicely in the first issue .This issue also focused on all members of the team and not just Wally like in the first 2 story arc.The art was also decent and complimented the story well as this story set up stage for the new Lazarus Contract storyline
What I Didn't Like
The first issue was really promising but after than it was a slow decline as the story stepped into cliched plot territory , involved absurd flaws in story , easy solution to the created mystery , no story development and quick plot conclusion with little impact . In the end the whole of Titan looked weak and cheap and it made little sense for what happened in the story .
Conclusion
In the end it started out really well but sadly fell into the same traps that has maligned this run so far . It all felt like a filler story when it should have felt like a big story arc setting stage for an even bigger story arc . Hopefully with the return of in the next mega cross-over event will turn the series around
I really love the art for Titans. The Team goes in to rescue Wally and Dick. They start to run into trouble as the Fearsome Five overwhelm them. All of them lied and have all of their powers to the Titan's chagrin. Bumblebee shows up to help and is able to help the Titans defeat the Fearsome Five, but at a cost. A part of her memories were wiped by Psimon which includes Mal and the existence of their daughter. Dick and Wally investigate the black market business of metahumans and discover that it is much bigger than they expected. I probably won't be reading the rest of the Lazarus Contract arc, but I'm still excited for the next issue of Titans.
In this issue, Abnett doubles down in the return of the repressed history of the Titans. Bumblebee's memory loss is a frustrating turn, but the revelation of H.I.V.E. as the money behind Meta Solutions is another welcome nod to Titans history. Nightwing's subsequent allusion to Grant Wilson reasserts the history of the Titans, Ravager, and Deathstroke that resulted in the well regarded Judas Contract event and will serve as crucial to the upcoming Lazarus Contract crossover event.
Well, dang, this is a right mess for the Titans. Mal and Karen are in a soup but the Titans are in no better state. This was action-packed and exciting, but that ending is quite terrifying. I know everything will be resolved, because this is a comic book, but still, shocking all the same. This second volume is off to a good start.
I guess we needed a setup for Bumblebee's history and a link to H.I.V.E. for everyone. Good dialogue and fun action sequences make it an enjoyable read.
Paaalease! By all means, use Deathstroke. Surely the kitchen sink will save us from Abnett's joke of issue length filler. NO ONE SHOULD CARE ABOUT #9 or #10, Yawn! Brett Booth think everyone is 6'1" and 210 lbs of solid muscle, thank god he didnt have to pencil a child. I miss The Titans Annual, ill go read that.
