Alexander Bennett has always lived a privileged lifestyle, despite the challenges of being biracial and reared by a single parent in an urban city. With his mother’s unwavering love and devotion guiding him, Alex excels, and is on a fast track to financial success when he meets the beautiful, intelligent, and independent, Tamara Jackson.
In his quest for love and success, Alex makes an unlikely enemy–someone he loves and holds dear to his heart. Insecurity and denial prevent Alex from accepting the one-sided relationship for what it is, and places him in danger of losing unconditional love and acceptance from the one who holds his heart. Lies unravel, and hidden secrets are revealed, as Alex tries to balance truth with fantasy.
Will the lies and manipulation end before Alex loses everything, including his mind?

Wow. I'm still trying to mentally process what I just read, but this book was all kinds of amazing. Not only was the story amazing, but the lesson that sometimes certain relatives that are detrimental to your future need to be loved from a distance. Phenomenal job. I am having an extremely hard time trying to keep from crying from all the emotions this book put me through.
Excellent read, this storyline was thought provoking. It brought about many emotions about Alex, I thought he was naive. It upset me how he allowed Randall to use and manipulate him. Alex' had many issues which was explored in this book. The title of this book is on point. As always, Wanda B. Campbell never fails to deliver compelling stories.
This book was based on how when traumatic situations happen to someone, how it can affect their life. When a person holds all the mental and physical abuse they keep allowing it to happen to appease their abuser. They don't realize how it can cause problems in trying to have a healthy love relationship, because of the lies and secrets. Can a person not only forgive the abuser and also forgive themselves? This storyline is a real page turner that grabs your attention from the beginning. I enjoy reading books by this author. Cassandra H
Excellent! Not at all what I thought it was going to be, this was an amazing story dealing with mental and physical abuseand the life long affect it has on the victim and the ones they love. This was an emotional and thought provoking read. Ms. Campbell had my attention from start to finish. I highly recommend this book.
The book description gave no clue what I was surprised by in reading this book! The depth of hatred in a family can be devastating. And, yet the love can be found when we look to Jesus. I was reminded that my identity is in Christ and not people I may admire. And to worship HIM, ONLY! Thank you Ms Wanda for such an amazing read that ministered to my soul.
Under the influence was a very good read, this book dealt with a lot of real issues that are going on in families and in life today. The message I received from this book is to always put god first and continue to pray and praise him when you are going through.
Wanda B. Campbell took a chance to do something different and Under the Influence was well worth the wait!!! Alexander, Randall,Carlton and Tamara will take all your emotions hostage! Grace and mercy flow thru these pages! Awesome writing!!!
