Divine Taylor has always wondered why her mom was so overprotective. She grew up an only child of a single mom. It had never been easy for her. Her mom didn't play and kept her locked up in the house any chance she could. Even when Divine was asked to walk the homecoming court with one of the cutest boy on the football team, her mom said no.
When she finally graduated and went away to college, she saw it as her first chance of freedom and she definitely took advantage of it. But, a night out while being left in the park with four strangers, began to give her second thoughts on why her mom protected her over the years.
Should she have listened to her mom and studied? If she had done that, she wouldn't be in the situation she was in now. With no one to talk to or turn to, will Divine find her way or will she allow this tragedy to ruin her life forever?
This was very good read. Renee made me want to strangle her for being so overprotective. She thought that she was protecting Divine, but in actuality she was just making her rebellious. I felt so bad for Divine. She didn't get to experience I've, and when she finally did, look what happened to her. Poor thing went to college and was totally clueless about life. I can't wait until part 2 to see how she's going to handle her situation.
This story is not what I expected given the title, but it was a good read nonetheless. Divine was sheltered by a mother who feared her life would project onto her daughter's. She taught Divine nothing about becoming a young lady and never let her experience life. Divine was a 'good' girl with college dreams, however her main goal became distancing herself from her mother. When tragedy strikes, she has no one to go to but her cousin, but still, shame engulfs her. I hope she is able to recover and build a real relationship with her mother.
Not sure how I missed this one when it was released but I'm glad I had a chance to start this series. Renee was beyond overprotective, I think she's caused more harm than she could ever imagine. Divine, Princess, Trey, it seems these teens lives have taken a turn, not necessarily for the best. Good storyline & a page turner I completed in 1 sitting. Great read
Renee has some serious issues going on with her. Because of how she has done things it has put Devine in a terrible situation. She needs to let go of the past and all the hatred and jealousy that she has in her heart I hope and pray that Devine also get some help because she is going need it. Now to book 2.
Divine momma was out of control omg. Her jealousy with her sister and her over protection of her child was unbearable and crazy. I didn't think Trey was about that life lol. You did a great job. Can't wait for part two
Payback is a bit@h and you can't just do things and except for things to be all hood. Renee was a trip and over protective I would've been glad to leave too but Devjne is going through it!!
Have read from this author before storyline is different from what I read but an awesome story going to pt 2 to find out what the ending is like. But Renee was too hard on Destiny . Hope Destiny finds the peace she will need to get over the assault
I enjoyed this read.. Renee ugh she just kept pissing me off!! Scandolus mom.... The story flowed so well.. This author writing skills never disappoint
I didn't put this book down until the end. Speechless is what you will be after reading. Divine didn't have a chance to enjoy life because of her overprotective mother. So many issues to touch on with these two and their relationship. It was time for Divine to get a backbone and I was happy as heck when she did. I hate what happened to her at the end. Princess is the cousin with a good heart but yet she is still going through some difficult stuff of her own. Nothing but bad will from from Dell and it don't take a genius to see that. The kicker is what's the story behind Divine mother being the way she is with her daughter and sister. I can't wait to see what Lady Lissa.
This book was a good read I felt sorry for Divine throughout the entire book. She missed out on so much. I could understand where her mother was coming from but sometimes we do more harm then good in the child's eyes. I can't wait for part 2
Oh wow, that is crazy. Trayvon got on down lol. This story was good. Renae needs to cut it.. She wouldn't let Divine have any freedom. I don't know, I think there is a reason behind that. Maybe I will find out in part 2. I hope them boys dont get away with what they did.
