Akoby mi vzal to najcennejšie. Moje spomienky.
I did enjoyed this book. The novel surprised me in a few places which is a good thing. The deeper I got into the book, the more I found the author's writing to be emotionally challenging and unique. The are many poignant moments in this story and some great quotes about life and how to live it if you're paying attention while you're reading. One one level, this book is about memories and what they mean to us and on a secondary level the book is about relationships and how we love each other.
I felt like the characters were all fleshed out. Mark is different from Emma and is on a completely different journey than she is. While I felt like their relationship and conversations complimented each other, I felt like as individual characters they could have offered more to the story.
This is a book and an author I would recommend. The writing is good and the story itself was well-crafted. You can tell the author put a lot into it.
Beautiful beginning of a series. Memories. We take them for granted and have no idea what a treasure they are to us and what would we do without them. We love and think back. About the beginning of a relationship. About first kiss. About first love-making. Could we live without memories? How would life without memories be? I have never thought about it, but while reading 'Stolen Memories' I understood that memories are things that create our life, our being. Even though I was expecting a totally different story, maybe more mainstream, now I am glad that it was not like that.
This is a a story about a a psychologist who councils people who are close to death. He enters into a love affair with his intern, when low and behold the first love of his life is admitted into his hospital at the last few weeks of her life. I thought those concepts were stretched beyond the readers belief...and was of in love with her again...
Mark is a doctor who deals with patients who are dying and helping them and their families with that eventuality. As he is merrily going along in his life he meets a woman who is studying to do the same thing as he does and they fall in love. The problem arrives when a colleague of his tells him of a woman he is treating is asking to meet with him specifically. It turns out that the woman is his high school sweetheart who broke up with him without any kind of reason. As you read about his previous love you get an insight into his romance with Lea, the new love and a remembrance of his past love. The only thing I didn’t like was the ending was abrupt and left you perplexed.
A psychologist starts seeing a coworker romantically when he's faced with a new client. He counsels dying patients and this time it's his first girlfriend. Unfortunately her brain tumor is terminal and she has weeks to live. She's confused after surgery and he and his sister help her regain her memories of their years together. She's still confused as to why she broke up with him and in the end we experience her remembering why. I'm crying because it's so sad but I loved it. ( didn't like his new girlfriend though).
Something really special to me, hard to judge. I was unable to stop reading, loved the story, all the details and wanted even more. I started even thinking if I am able to remember all my memories even considered as a healthy person. And finally on the one hand the open end of the story was a little disappointing on the other hand in real life you never know how it ends up and Lea`s relationship to Mark was not important in that moment anymore but Emma`s lesson ...

This was a book I surely will read again. I liked the fact that I could not put it down and in the fact I would have read it in about 5 hours if I would not be a mom of two ;-) Great about this book is that it is not too deep, but it for sure is not shallow at all. The fact that I was listing back again and again in a passages I have already read and found new and new meanings is great. Thus every time someone will read this book, he might find something just for him, but it might vary when reading it overtime again. Thank you for wonderful experience.
This interesting and well-written novel was just what I was looking for. Not only were the characters were incredible and extremely easy to relate to, but they had me thinking long after I finished this read. Furthermore, this unique plot was thoroughly intriguing and kept me guessing from the first page to the last. Overall, I really loved this book and look forward to the next one in the series.
I thought ‘Stolen Memories’ was a really unique read. The fact that it is written in the first person from the perspective of three different characters made it incredibly engaging. Darrell Standing has some serious skill in crafting words that embody each character in such believable depth. Their thought processes and background are so different from each other that you start to feel like they are real people revealing their emotions and perspectives on love and life.
Neuvazovali by ste nad tym, ci nahodou nesokujete svojim konanim svojich blizkych. A su to vlastne vasi blizki? Odporucam.
I really liked this book and would recommend it. It was a little confusing in the beginning as compared to the description of the book but I caught up in a couple of chapters. Interesting characters and story line.
