Restore: A Lost Girl’s Journey to Hope

Rate this book
I was kidnapped when I was 10 years old. I was ultimately sex trafficked as a young adult. Restore is the story of me being taken and the journey to being found again.

★★★★★ "By putting her story into the world Tiffany has the power to inspire other young women who are in similar situations. Overall a fantastic memoir. And thank you, Tiffany, for sharing her story!" Amazon Reviewer

Tiffany knows that she’s loved by those closest to her, but rage has taken over her home. It’s the reason she’s been kidnapped. And, deep in her heart, she thinks that it’s her fault.

As a teenager craving the love she once knew as a child, Tiffany comes across Gideon, an attractive drug dealer who gives her just enough attention to make her feel special. Instead of love, Tiffany falls prey to another tragedy, a sexual assault that she’s too ashamed to report.

Amid her struggle to change, God has been silently pursuing Tiffany's heart and showing her the right path. But so much has happened… can she really turn her life around? Just as their relationship grows, Tiffany faces one of the biggest challenges of her life, one that threatens to tear down everything she's fought to overcome and send her spiraling further out of control.

Book One challenges how we think about traumatic experiences of the past and offers a message of hope to those who think they're too far down a path of destruction to change.

In her groundbreaking four-book memoir, Tiffany shares a vivid story of brokenness and love, domestic violence and the pursuit of a Savior, commercial sex trafficking and restoration. It's the story of a lost girl's journey to Hope.

Hey you guys, my name is Tiffany Dionne Kelly — Tiffany Dionne is my pen name, and from the time I was in the second grade I knew I going to be great. My plan was to put my long legs to use by becoming an Olympic track star, but my brother told me that track and field wasn’t a real career. (I’m still mad at him for killing my dream). I told him that since I couldn’t “run” for a living, I’d work at my favorite place to eat in the world.

McDonalds.

My brother laughed at me and my dad told me that working at McDonalds wasn’t an option as long as he lived on God’s green earth. I was crushed, but I still knew I would be great.

What I didn’t know was that tragedy would hit. I didn’t know I’d be kidnapped, raped, abused or enter the sex industry. All kinds of terrible things happened in my life. I had no idea how broken I’d become, but deep inside, the spark of greatness never left.

My debut book, Restore: A Lost Girl’s Journey to Hope, the first book in my three part memoir will tell you how it all started. What I want you to know is that today greatness is exploding, not only in my life, but all around me.

I’m a Survivor Advocate for women and kids who have been affected by sexual assault, domestic violence, and sexual exploitation.

I get to mentor others who have been through the same things as me.

My superpower is telling stories that make people laugh and cry and see their own lives through the lens of my pain. Stories that put you in my shoes and make you feel like you can overcome the past. My strength doesn’t come from kryptonite like Superman, it comes from God. Trust me, I didn’t always know Him, which makes the stories that much better.

I didn’t become a track star, but I never gave up and I found my way to be great. I’m a writer, a speaker, motivator, and hope bringer. You might not know it yet, but you are too. I changed for the better and my goal is to spark a fire in others, to let them know that they can overcome the obstacles that have held them back and move on to greatness. We can do this together.

I selected this book for the October #personalgrowth read for my book club. Little did I know it would be a perfect fit, as October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Per the usual, a brief synopsis.

This is the first of a three-part memoir by Tiffany Dionne. She is a Michigan native who had a tumultuous childhood and what's starting to look like a problem filled teenage life. She retells some of her childhood experiences, including being kidnapped two times! You read that correctly. Beyond that experience she's adjusting to new homes, living arrangements, trying to make new friends and keep old friends. We leave off at a turning point for her, the question is what is Tiffany going to do? This you won't necessarily find out after reading book 1, but you certainly will start to form an opinion.

Explaining what spoke to my soul is going to be a bit more difficult without revealing some of her story. The first I will say, is to listen to those "feelings" you get. The internal energy only you feel, that my friend is your conscience speaking. Ignoring it can cause a world of pain instantly but sometimes it's gradually. When you read of Tiffany's early life experiences, at a young age she was developing a great conscience. Does she realize this? That's debatable.

The next idea that spoke to my soul was the importance of effectively co-parenting. It plays a huge part in children's lives. While the child may not verbalize this, believe me, he or she is watching, learning, and internalizing what is seen? What does your behavior reflect?

Lastly, after reading book one of Tiffany's memoir I received a better understanding of abuse and sexual assault. This spoke to my soul because, some may not realize they are victims. Her honesty in her journey has the ability to empower those who feel alone and seek healing. While I am not a victim, my empathy for victims has increased after reading this book.

At the end of her book, Dionne gives a bit more of her testimony and highlights the power of prayer. I recommend this book for anyone who is a victim of domestic violence (in it's many forms) and anyone who wishes to be educated. I thank her for her candid story and look forward to the next installment on her journey to hope.

As Always,
#HappyReading

Restore ( book one)

I have followed Tiffany on Instagram, and said I wanted to get a good read. I started the book and read 20 pages. That night I went to sleep and was off the next day....needless to say I couldn’t put it down and finished it the following morning. Can’t wait to read Book 2 and 3!

A heart-gripping read! I could relate to many of the things written in this book. Loneliness, sexual abuse, that aching desire to be loved, looking for love in all the wrong places, etc... Looking forward to book 2
