This was a very confusing volume. It felt rushed & characters motives were not explained well and had no proper justification. Totally the opposite of the previous volume which was one of the best! The first chapter was about Kasane's mother giving us an idea about one side of her life. Then there was this new character that I still have no idea where it came from and made no sense to me. The constant shifts of different time frames made story progress very vague. I did not like it.
Did Izana's story provide anything substantial to the current storyline? Not really. It was easy to deduce from Nogiku's backstory. But even keeping that aside, was any character developed further by it? Not really. At least not in this volume.
We just learnt how Izana dies. That was new but not especially relevant to the story right now.
We are re-introduced to an old character Iku. That was the highlight of the volume. Where has she been all this time? How had Kasane's face stealing affected her? Is she broken too now? How will her arrival affect Kasane?
This volume was a great read, and is super important for setting up later events, character motivations and plot twists. A "new" character is introduced who is engaging, and will play an important role in Kasane and Nogiku's story later on. Overall it's a lot of set-up, but it's been keeping up the same quality as the rest of the story, and immersed me in their roles.
Uuuuf... Y sigue el drama @_@ Eso sí, este tomo ha sido un poco más calmado. Seguimos desenredando los entresijos del pasado, aparece un nuevo personaje y otro va a tomar cartas más serias en el asunto~
As expect, volume ten reveals how Kasane’s mother died and it’s was unexpectedly more heartbreaking and sad than I could have ever imagined. One of the many reasons I like this series is that even when character do despicable things, like Izana, you still feel empathy for them and almost understand why they act in the way they do. The way Matsuura explains and portrays characters inner thoughts and emotions is done exceptionally well. Amagasaki has stepped in to help Nogiku, and Kasane is once again being plotted against. Meanwhile people from her past are feeling like “Saki” seems strangely familiar. The buildup of tense and storytelling in this series are spot on! This volume does take its time in the middle but it makes the read more immersive. Excited to see what happens next! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
