Biggest take home point was eliminating all debt, including mortgage. "Once you grow accustomed to having debt, it becomes easier to accept debt in other areas of your life."
The beginning was good, and relating debt to workup of a medical condition "debtmentia" and "malignant credit carcinoma" got a chuckle. I also liked the catchy ideas like, "every phase of your life: learning years (school), earning years (working), and burning years." The end seemed to get a bit repetitive. A good read.

A Wonderful Guide to Prioritizing Financial Goals

I loved this book. I especially loved the way Dr. Fawcett tackled the financial advisor trope about investing before paying debt because “you make more interest investing.” Not true when you factor in how much more you have to earn to hold onto that debt long term. (Not to mention the current situation on Wall St.) I also like the plan he lays out. I did my calculations and I’ll be done w/debt very soon. I never even entertained the concept of paying off my mortgage, but now I understand it’s do-able. Thanks Dr. Fawcett!!

I appreciate your responsible perspective

I am a CRNA. I find some of the financial advice meant for generally lower income individuals to not be applicable to me & my income. I find some of the advice for physicians to be irresponsible. Your book is a happy medium. I appreciate you putting into consideration the higher income audience that you are targeting while also encouraging debt payoff before aggressive investing. Thank you

Five stars!

Although not an MD, I am an NP who values the information in this book. If only all of our colleagues were better educated earlier in our careers, I do feel things could be very different for a lot of us. Such valuable info, easy to read ~ very thankful to have stumbled across this book and all of its knowledge. Helped me to refocus my plan at a time when the debt became completely overwhelming.

Its a fine book...there’s nothing wrong with it. The problem is that there’s absolutely zero new info here if you’ve been around the debt-free or personal finance community for longer than 30 seconds. It’s the same info regurgitated over and over again.

Student loans be gone!

A quick, inspiring read. I'm already working on eliminating debt, but this book essentially acts as a cheerleader! Worth the small amount of time to read.

Good book on the basics of debt management and the mindset to get debt free. The Dave Ramsey of doctor debt. Bit too basic especially after having read others.

A good book for a younger doctor or med student. Gives more of a general guideline in how to go about tackling debt.

It’s motivating. I’ve heard debt free radio before but this does put it in a different perspective. My goal was to eliminate loans quickly but now I will look at mortgages differently .
