Beth 259201, former Vassal and Epsilon Internee, finds herself alone and ill-equipped to survive in the untamed wilderness of the Forkstream territories. She is determined to reach her goal, no matter what challenges she may face.
201’s mind carries the echoes of FERTS, and one voice in particular will not allow her to forget her transgressions.
One mistake finds her hurtling towards a battle where allegiances will be formed and broken.
201 may find that her survival depends on a lie, a lie that conceals her search for the ultimate truth.
It seems like I have been waiting for this book for a long time - and it was well worth the wait! It was wonderful to experience 201's freedom with her and those initial moments were gold. I don't want to give away any plot lines but when that didn't go well I was disappointed. After a few unexpected twists and turns I was back on track and now I'm waiting for the next book!
Talented Indie author Grace Hudson has done it again with this sequel to FERTS! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to reading Book Three! This book captured my attention from the start and is packed with action that kept me turning pages and reading late into the night! Too often, the sequels to a good book do not measure up - however that is NOT the case here. If you enjoyed the first book, you are sure to love this one! Definitely a recommended read!
Beth259201 has escaped FERTS but lost those she sought to find on the outside. Now, alone in the wilderness she must battle the elements and the demons of her mind. Will she find those that she seeks? And, if so, will they welcome her into their camp?
Hudson’s second novel in the FERTS series, The Rogue Thread, follows 201 as she finds herself ill-equipped to deal life outside of FERTS. Meanwhile, the new Pinnacle Officer is implementing his plans for FERTS. And, those plans will directly conflict with 201’s freedom.
A little over half of this book follows 201’s adventures out in the wilderness. The pace is exceptionally slow and I had to push myself to finish the book. I’m glad I did as the second half was so much better. That being said I did find Officer Reno’s transformation hard to believe.
Book two carries on the story of 201 and her journey and wish for freedom from FERTS, a despicable dystopian world of cruelty and other abuses towards women.
A few secrets are revealed, while 201's gift is further explored. Raf and Cal are other interesting characters in the story, who had been friends since they met as children while escaping...
This is a well thought out tale, and although disturbing, it is a compelling read. Developing characters fit comfortably within this intriguing story that has a great sense of place.
What can I say, she did it again. apon starting this book the first book came flooding back, 201's, her escape, her recapture, amazing continuation of 201 journey with twists that sets your heart racing, great character development throughout this well told sequel, great end that leaves me gagging for more
Grace Hudson wrote an excellent sequel, though for me the first just left such a lasting impression that any follow-up would have been tough! But this book gave me just that much more; behind the scenes of FERTS, and 201's force of personality that pushed its way through all the barriers in her path. As a fan of strong female characters, I feel the author did an incredible justice by this book, and by this series so far. Will be reading the 3rd soon!
This is a good second instalment, the prose style and pacing have developed and improved since the first book. The world building make t sense, although the timeline could have been adjusted to make it more reasonable, some characters so seem to have ridiculously quick changes of heart. The story progresses pretty much as you'd expect it to, but there are some nice little extra details which hint at a deeper story to come
